I searched for "child-friendly restaurants in Kiel" and Blockhouse was recommended on several platforms. I don't immediately think of "child-friendly" when I think of a steakhouse, but I was surprised. A great children's menu, and they immediately brought out art supplies for the kids. The service was super friendly and accommodating. In short, the food was delicious for everyone, and the kids were able to easily pass the time. We really enjoyed it and are now happy to come back with children.

The welcome was warm. The reserved table was quickly found. But after 11 hours of hard work, my thirst for beer was only quenched after 25 minutes in a nearly empty restaurant. It's a shame, because the food was good. My rump steak was cooked to perfection, as requested. Salads are available with a variety of dressings.

One of the best steakhouses in Kiel! The food was perfectly prepared – the steak was cooked to perfection, and the sides were fresh and delicious. The service was attentive, friendly, and quick. We were here for a birthday dinner – and unfortunately, the evening turned out to be a real disappointment. Upon arrival, we were greeted by an unfriendly and irritable waitress. The portions were small, and a completely normal question was met with a rude, disrespectful reply. After that, we were simply ignored – no questioning, no attention, nothing. When the wrong drink was added, instead of an apology, we received only a derogatory comment. Such behavior is completely inappropriate in the restaurant industry, especially when guests are celebrating a special occasion. What was planned as a pleasant evening ended in frustration and anger. It's a shame, but neither the service nor the way guests are treated is up to scratch here. We'll definitely never go back – absolutely not recommend it.

The food at Blockhaus Kiel was really good and fresh. The service was excellent – attentive and friendly. A particularly positive aspect: When I raised a small issue with the meal, they responded immediately and accommodated me – great! But we had a different idea of what a "burger" would be. The atmosphere is cozy, but it was quite loud, which made conversation at the table a bit difficult. Overall, though, a successful visit – we'd gladly return!

We had really good food. Delicious steaks. Nice coleslaw. Good baked potatoes. Good service. It took an hour from when we ordered our food until it was served. That's a long wait. Remember to book a table well in advance.

The restaurant is getting on in years and the staff are unmotivated. Sauces are carelessly slapped into the jugs, even if they run down the sides - they're just put there. The turkey tasted watery and sloppy, even though it should have been cooked crisply. It squeaked when you bite into it. When the dispassionate waiter asked us how it tasted, we said: Satisfactory. He didn't get it at all. Then we explained the grading system again!!! He: There's nothing he can do about it. Well, that's a shame. Unfortunately, no one came after the food was served, so you could just "close your eyes and get on with it." Not recommended. The Erfurt branch and the Berlin Bikini Haus are 1,000x tastier. PS: A quick look at the toilet first could have opened our eyes.

We were at Block House a few weeks ago, and they had a lunch menu with schnitzel until 3 p.m. "Until 3 p.m." was what they said. When we tried to order, the employee said it was sold out "while supplies last." But we were sitting right near the kitchen, and before our own food was even served, we could see that there was a transparent box in the kitchen with lots of schnitzels. I was incredibly annoyed, but didn't say anything. I just wanted to get this off my chest: Shortly before 3 p.m., the special apparently doesn't count anymore, even though there was obviously still plenty left. I find that really outrageous. Taking customers for fools is completely unacceptable.

Maden var af meget høj kvalitet En bøf stegt til perfektion Dejlig ovnkartoffel og frisk salat med lækker dressing. Perfekt coleslaw. Betjeningen var sublim. Meget opmærksomhed fra tjenerne. Der er kun en grund til, at jeg ikke kan give 5 stjerner. Ventetiden. Fra vi satte os ved bordet til maden kom gik der en time. Det synes vi er lang tid, men maden var så god, så vi kommer igen.

A super nice restaurant, you can watch the chefs at work, and the servers were very friendly, except for one incident at the next table. One waitress humiliated another in front of the guests because she didn't know something, which I didn't think was right. The food was incredibly delicious; I've never had such a good steak. Poor organization. We called on July 25, 2025, and asked if there was a table for two people available. He told us to just drop by. There were at least 15 people standing outside, some of whom had been waiting for over an hour for free tables. Even after addressing the phone call, we didn't get a table.

Leider enttäuschend… Der Burger ist nur ein Hamburger mit etwas Brot daneben. Der Meerrettich zum Fleisch war komplett alt und geschmacksneutral. Der Salat war sandig, gleich bei mehreren Teilnehmern. Die Salattheke liegt vor dem Eingang und alle gehen daran vorbei, subjektiv der falsche Platz und irgendwie ekelig. Die Preise sind stolz und der Leistung kaum angemessen. Ein kleines Stück Lachs für weit über 20 Euro. Nur das Fleisch war in Ordnung. So wird das nichts.

Yesterday (July 9, 2025, around 1:00 PM) I was in Kiel with my wife, and we wanted to treat ourselves to a really delicious meal for lunch. Since we've had very good experiences at Blockhouse restaurants before, we stopped by. We ordered onion soup as a starter, and for the main course, we had a delicious fillet steak and rack of lamb. Unfortunately, the order went wrong, and only one onion soup was served. The second one only arrived after about 15 minutes, after we asked again! The very friendly waitress apologized and offered us a free dessert. The main course also took about 40 minutes to arrive. The restaurant was very busy and noisy, but normally, even when it's full, you get a main course at Blockhouse within 20 to 30 minutes. We were finally able to eat and were about to enjoy the meal when the table next to us was occupied by more and more elderly people who had apparently met there by chance. The problem was that there were five people, but the table was only for four. The waitress pointed this out to her, but the restaurant manager on duty apparently saw things differently and added a fifth chair and started moving our table, saying, "I'll just move you a bit aside"... without even asking, and in the middle of our meal. The result was that my wife had to eat in a completely cramped space, and the backs of their heads were almost hanging in our drinks and plates (photo taken after the meal). Simply unbelievable, the restaurant manager really needs some retraining, sorry! The waitress was also extremely uncomfortable. We declined the promised dessert and just wanted to get out of there. We only saw her go back to the restaurant manager on duty and then tell us that the drinks were on the house. The service staff acted in an exemplary manner and met the expected level of service. The food was also delicious. However, the restaurant manager's handling of guests who ordered an expensive meal and wanted to enjoy it was poor. Therefore, only 3 points for this location.

The atmosphere was cozy, but a bit noisy. The service was very, very good. The food came quickly, and the waitresses were really friendly. The only thing I didn't think was the food. A "burger," if you can call it that, is served here without a proper bun, and it's also overcooked for my taste. I wouldn't order it again. There's a parking fee.

Despite Kiel Week, we got our reserved table right away and were treated extremely courteously, as if we had some kind of VIP status. I've experienced something different at other Block House restaurants. The food was delicious; everything was just right. The prices are absolutely reasonable. Our thanks go to Madeleine!

The restaurant is amazing. A really cozy atmoshere. The food was really delicious - we order steaks that includes fresh salad, baked potato and garlic bread. Completely satisifying for the price. The waiter Marija was also very nice, smiley and friendly. We have been to various branches of the Blockhouse chain several times (Hamburg, Stuttgart) and were always very satisfied. Unfortunately, this was not the case here in Kiel. The service was rather rude and unfriendly (the customer was perceived as more of an annoyance). We repeatedly had to wait a very long time. And the quality of the food itself left a lot to be desired (in my opinion, a fat crust shouldn't make up 50-60% of the steak. When asked about it, they didn't understand: "That's how it should be"). Edited: Hello Block House team, thank you for the feedback and for addressing the criticism. I understand and appreciate that there can be waits during busy times. However, most of the tables around and around were empty. People at the neighboring table who arrived after us had already finished eating while we were still waiting for our main course. With more communication and an explanation, we would certainly have been more understanding. Either way, this criticism only concerns the Kiel location. We have never had problems of this kind at other branches.

Incredible politeness. Fresh salad. Well cooked beef - seared to a nice charred perfection. Massive hot potato - worth considering asking for more sour cream as the amount of potato is a lot! We had the 0.3l fresh beer (Pilsner) which was cold, crisp and delicious.

A bit hidden away, but still easy to find. The BLOCK HOUSE in Kiel is a really good place with super friendly service, impeccable taste, and excellent value for money. Definitely a great place to spend a pleasant evening with good food. Something could be improved about the ambiance... It's not up to date.

Hectic evening with many guests

We were seated at the counter. After more than 15 minutes, we asked for a menu. The waitress behind the counter replied, "I'm not responsible for that." After that, we left, frustrated. We're from Hamburg and know other Blockhaus restaurants. Never again Blockhaus Kiel.

The restaurant was completely overcrowded, and we stood waiting at the entrance for 10 minutes. Then we decided to sit at the set counter, with the usher's permission. We waited there for another 10 minutes before asking the employee behind the counter if we could get a menu. She replied, a bit annoyed, that she wasn't responsible for that. Then we left! NEVER AGAIN AT THIS RESTAURANT!!

Unfortunately, the tables are a bit too close together, which means you can hear every conversation at the next table. The staff is very attentive and friendly. It all started with the reception. We had a reservation and still had to wait 25 minutes. The service at the entrance seemed quite overwhelmed... Once we got a table, the service was good. Our order came quickly, but the quality was mediocre. I thought I'd get a proper burger, but it was just a piece of meat with no sauce and a slice of cheese on salad and baguette. Very poorly presented, and the fries could have been eaten at McDonald's. Our expectations were definitely not met.

I've loved the Block House for decades. Last week, I enjoyed another Hereford rib-eye steak. Just as delicious and lovely as the colleagues from Lübeck, very friendly and attentive to elderly people with disabilities. Best wishes to Mr. Becker and the lovely team.

I was really looking forward to my visit to the Block House (Kiel had won) and stopped by spontaneously. As soon as I walked in, I noticed the beautiful free window seats (4 of them). However, my request to be allowed to sit there was rejected by the head waiter (?) - all seats were reserved. Despite my objection that we would just eat quickly and leave quickly, no one gave in. What was particularly disappointing was that all of the window seats remained empty throughout my entire stay. The food was good, the waitresses at the table were otherwise very friendly, but this experience left a bitter aftertaste. It's a shame when guests are made to feel unwelcome.

A quick meal with a mediocre steak, a large, thin slice like a small, thicker schnitzel. Ordered medium anyway because it was too thin, cooked well, and had a light bacon edge. 😤 We didn't like it 🤷‍♂️ Very little on the plate. And the salad was very simple 🙄

We've been to Block House many times. The service was and still is really very good, attentive, and friendly. But the food has declined. Not that it's bad. But the portions are smaller, and everything seems less lovingly prepared recently. And the quality has also been affected. It's a shame, because with two children, we're already spending almost €150.

A meal for two. Service was very good - ambience is like it always is in a block house - so typical and nothing special. The food was good and came quickly. We had a look into the kitchen: potato gratin comes pre-portioned from the cardboard bowl onto the plate, unfortunately the taste is not good - no creamy sauce, no classic gratin. Vegetables are pre-portioned from a plastic bag onto the plate, but unfortunately they don't taste good either - spices? Meat very good quality to the point of medium. Unfortunately, baked potatoes are becoming smaller and smaller. The salad was fresh and OK.
