Stable Konstanz - Irish Pub - Inh. Frank Kaltenbach in Konstanz

I ate here yesterday and had called beforehand to check whether the kitchen was still open. I was confirmed that it would be open for about another two hours. However, when we arrived, the waiter rather rudely informed us that the kitchen had already been cleaned and that it was "cheeky" of us to come now. Even though I explained that we had been told otherwise on the phone, his mood was very irritated. He took our order, but came to the table several times during the meal and made it clear that he would like to be finished (two to one and a half hours before closing time). Comments like whether my companion was still eating his food or why he was eating so slowly were made in a very unfriendly tone. This was very unpleasant and spoiled the overall experience. The food itself was truly excellent, and the chef is extremely friendly – ​​unfortunately, the staff couldn't maintain this positive impression. This kind of treatment of guests is simply unprofessional and would actually be a reason not to come back, which is a real shame.

Everyone had the Staple Burger (31), which was super delicious. The gluten-free burger bun was also great. It was either homemade or a non-Schär bun. Very, very good and highly recommended 🍔👌🏻

Today, September 14, 2025, I was in Konstanz to try a local pub. I chose this Irish pub. Since almost all the tables inside were free, I sat down at a table of my choice. A male waiter then came over and asked me if I was alone. I confirmed. I was then informed that this table was reserved. I must have missed that, as I never read beer mats. So, it was easy to miss in the dim light, see photo. I then asked where I should sit. The employee pointed to all the tables. I realized: everywhere except this one. He then added that another table back there was also reserved. After the table question was clarified, I asked the employee if I could get something to eat there. He then told me he didn't know. I asked again, "Is there something to eat here?" Then he said he felt like he was being made a fool of and simply walked away, stopping service. Normally, this is a reason to leave the restaurant. When someone displays such unrelaxed behavior, it's impossible to enjoy a meal there. It poisons the atmosphere. But I wanted to try the food and ordered fish crisps with a large salad from another server. The food arrived shortly after. Unfortunately, this dish is nothing more than fast food quality in terms of taste and quantity, and for €17! The restrooms are in need of renovation, see photo. Conclusion: I cannot recommend this restaurant because one server ruined the atmosphere with her behavior, and the food, in my case, was not good. Dear Mr. Kaltenbach! I don't know what your employees describe as strange. As a long-time employee, you should be able to handle simple, friendly questions professionally and without negative interpretations due to your own discontent. I'm sure you would have presented a confident performance. You may have the highly praised dishes. I submitted a review for the meal served to me. You can accept reviews or simply be defensive. What you make of them is up to you. Regarding the restrooms, it's up to your negotiating skills with the landlord. Try eating your fish crisps yourself, using the same preparation process as I used for my meal. That way you can see how a negative review comes about. I tested your restaurant and only described the process and the actual condition. Unfortunately, in this case, it wasn't good overall. I would have liked to report something different. The best tequila shots I've ever had

Yesterday, before the Circus Krone show, we had dinner with my great-nieces (8 and 11 years old). The three of us girls had goulash with spaetzle. It was absolutely delicious! We were thrilled... The great-nieces' verdict: "Sorry, it's better than Grandma's!" What higher praise could there be? The service was also top-notch! We received super friendly service. We felt completely at home.

This was our second time there and we weren't disappointed. Great food! Attentive service and a cozy atmosphere! Highly recommended!

We ended up at the Stable through the "Gluten-Free Travel Group." The entire service staff is friendly and thoughtful. My husband was asked if he wanted the salad gluten-free with oil and vinegar, because the dressing would otherwise contain gluten. Yes, he did, so our celiac friend could try the salad. She had the Pasta Frankie and absolutely loved it. I had a gluten-free veggie burger with fries so she could try the burger and eat the fries. Bottom line: 5 stars aren't enough. Everything was delicious, the food arrived quickly, it was the best sunshine we've had in a long time, and pizza would have been possible, too. We're still thrilled. Thank you so much for being there.

I went there with a friend. We had lunch and drinks. The staff served us well. When we finally paid, the boss or manager told us not to come back or he would call the police. The reason is that we didn't want to cause a conflict. Perhaps he was jealous that the girl working there served us well, took photos, and spoke their language. We were deceived/ripped off by this person (the manager). 1 star for service only.

I had a Mojito Zero, which was incredibly delicious, and a Lily Berry to go with it – also delicious, although a few more berries certainly wouldn't have hurt. For the main course, I had a steak with salad and sweet potato fries. The steak was perfectly cooked, really juicy, and the herb butter went perfectly with it – really well done. The only downside: The staff seemed to ask us every five minutes if everything was okay – and there were also several people who apparently hadn't agreed on who was in charge of which table. That was a bit annoying. Apart from that, it was great – delicious food, good drinks, and overall a lovely visit. 🙌

I was a bit unsure whether I could recommend this place. But then, with the first "service," things took a turn for the better thanks to the other waiter. We met the owner (Frankie) by chance at the bank today. He kindly accepted our Swiss francs after helping us earlier. As we continued our conversation, he told us about his shop and raved about his Käsespätzle (cheese spaetzle). Both the Käsespätzle and the steak were truly delicious. The staff were also incredibly polite and very attentive. You don't see all that often these days. Thank you for the lovely evening with you and best wishes from Heidelberg!

Highly recommended! There's comfortable seating both inside and outside, and the staff is super friendly and attentive—someone regularly comes by to ask about your dietary needs. And best of all: it's suitable for celiac patients! Most burgers, pizzas, and pasta dishes are also available gluten-free, the kitchen is separate, and the staff are well-trained. We'll be happy to come back!

Our first visit to the Stapel will certainly not be the last. Our visit to relatives in Konstanz inevitably led us to this beautiful and cozy location. We received a very warm and friendly welcome from all the employees present. The food was delicious and the portions were more than adequate. We had a great evening with you yesterday! We were warmly welcomed as soon as we entered, and Bruno was also given a very warm welcome - that immediately made us feel at home. The food was absolutely first class - everything cooked to perfection and full of flavor. The service was also excellent: friendly, attentive and just all around pleasant. We would definitely like to come back!

Gluten-free options are well advertised and easy to order. I had the gluten free cheeseburger with extra cheese. I had eaten it there a few years ago and was very disappointed with the roll. They must have changed the bun since then because this time the burger tasted very, very tasty. Unfortunately the fries weren't that great and could have used more salt but other than that I can't complain.

We walked past the restaurant and happened to read on one of the boards that gluten-free pizzas were also possible. You can choose the individual ingredients separately. There were no tolerance problems and the pizza tasted great! Friendly staff and absolutely not too expensive. Only recommended!

We are on holiday in Konstanz again. On the way to the cinema on Saturday evening we discovered the Irish Pub. As real lovers of Ireland, it was clear to us that we would stop there for a pint or two of Guinness after the cinema. When we entered the fully occupied restaurant, we were very rudely told that there was no space left and that we couldn't stand at the small counter that was opposite the counter. When my wife asked if we could at least drink something while standing, we were told: “yes, but not where you are standing.” He stood there demonstratively until we stood in an uncomfortable corner. It's a shame, our impression in the first three minutes forced us to leave the restaurant. Maybe people around 60 are not so welcome. We can't rate drinks and food because we didn't have any. Stables has been a household name for years and has always had burgers, unfortunately also Ruppaner beer! Nowadays KN is full of burgers and there is also a lot of seating here. It gets loud relatively quickly. Side dishes are included with the burger. When I ordered one time with sweet potato fries, the second burger was served with fries anyway, so you have to mention it separately. It can happen and should I throw the fries in the bin now?! Probably not, I would say as a conscious consumer. It's one thing to say afterwards, OK, I'll move on. But what really bothers me is that I pulled the A***** card and ordered a small Guinness because there are only scratch cards for a large Guinness. If you then ordered a large Guinness, even with the advice, you would have known this from the start. Well, I ask the “boss” but apparently it doesn’t work because everything has been counted. Oh yeah, that's how Guinness knows how much great Guinness you sell. The German tax office is certainly interested in this too. Nobody comes up with the subtle hint that scratch cards can also be rivets. Uhh, does the German state find this so funny?! Well, all in all, I paid for a side dish that I didn't want and an additional large Guinness because no one informed me about the fine print. Well, let's see what the German state gambling lottery says about it. Cheers 🍻

That's how hospitality works!!! Escaping the crowds and with a full bladder, I spontaneously found my way to the STABLE. We immediately felt very comfortable! Despite the pub being full, the staff was very attentive and super friendly! We'll definitely be back soon!!! P.S. We only had drinks, but the burgers looked very tasty 😉

Very nice little place. Not so Irish (but apparently it sells in Konstanz to market yourself as an Irish Pub). Anyway the staff is very kind and friendly. Food is good, typical German dishes. Cozy atmosphere. Nice place for lunch or perhaps early evening for a warm up. Perhaps they should consider the music.
