Old Marys Pub in Konstanz

I was there with my son a while ago. An authentic atmosphere, great and equally authentic fish and chips, and a burger that my son calls the best of his life. Excellent service and fair prices make Old Mary's Pub an insider tip. The place deserves 10 stars. If we come back, we'll be happy to go back.

This is what an Irish pub should be like. One-room pub with a great atmosphere. The owner and staff are very attentive.

Very crowded, loud... Drinks were very good, though! The current menu doesn't match the one outside...

Nice and busy like a pub should be, with a lively atmosphere that makes it a fun spot to grab a drink. The crowd adds to the charm, and there’s a good energy. That said, the service can get overwhelmed when it’s packed, and finding a good seat isn’t always easy. Drinks are okay, but nothing that really stands out. A solid place for a casual night out, but don’t expect anything extraordinary.

Service is top and the price/performance is great

One of the best, if not the best, bar in Konstanz. A fantastic, extensive food and drink menu, very attentive and, above all, super friendly staff, and a great atmosphere. The fries are amazing and are even prepared late at night upon request!

I like the food and the servers are really really nice. HOWEVER, I have gone there two days in a row now. Both times I’ve been with smalls groups about 4-6 people. Both times I have ordered they forgot my food for about 45 mins to 1 hr and 30 minutes. I am very non-confrontational for better or worse. So both times my friends had to ask for me about where my food is. Yesterday when I went they forgot my food for an hour and a half. This is the only time I really decided to step in about this issue as I felt bad for my friends waiting around for me to get food. We had already reminded the staff at about 50 mins without the food and they said “we didn’t have that in our system, I’ll go put it in” then I see that multiple people who came in after us and ordered after us got their food and it was even the same order as mine. MIND YOU, I had ordered and they even clarified the order when I was ordering and it was an individual order( separate time from my group order), I normally do not have any issues with waiting, however, the cook time of this dish should take no longer than 45 minutes as it was like a pizza. When it got to be about 1 hour 20 minutes I began to wonder if I should cancel my order, I went to the counter at 1 hour 25 minutes I went to cancel the order and the staff told me it was ready in that minute, I ended up accepting the order and I was served without any utensils or way to cut it(it usually comes with a large bread or pizza cutter thing). So we had to ask for a fork and knife. They ended up hesitantly giving me a 12% discount. Side notes: I ordered a black velvet and was served a Guinness (without the cider). My friend ordered sweet potato fries and was served regular fries also at a smaller portion than she asked for. In the photos you can tell that everyone had already got their food either much sooner than me (having already finished their food or got it before me) It was really ridiculous to have this happen to me twice. I also want to say I was not the problem customer, only ever asking for assistance or items when I had wanted to talk about my lack of food on both nights. Other than that I was just enjoying the time with my friends.

Solid burgers. :) The service staff was great, and this pub has a lot of history, as you can see from the atmosphere on the walls.

Nice atmosphere, good atmosphere and, above all, friendly staff, who (rightly) bullied a friend of mine because he ordered a Cola-Weizen with the words “KoWatz”. I give 5 stars for this promotion alone!

A very nice place! The best thing is the service! The first staff is always nice, very young people who are very motivated! I can highly recommend the Dünle! It's truly one of the best I've ever eaten! Unfortunately I can't eat the hamburger!

An absolutely wonderful pub! Old Mary's in Konstanz is a real gem - lovingly furnished, with a charming, nostalgic flair and an atmosphere that immediately makes you feel good. Every corner is designed with great attention to detail and exudes real cosiness. The bartenders are incredibly friendly, attentive and make you feel completely welcome. Whether for a relaxed evening with friends or a cold beer after work - simply perfect. I'll definitely be back!

Beautiful and cozy pub that is well attended but rarely annoyingly full. Just the right balance between “a few beers in the pub” and “spending a cozy evening with the group”. Decent portions of the food and it's good too. The owner is a cool, young guy who puts his heart into this, and you can see that in the pleasant service.

We found this pub on a recent visit to Lake Constance, and loved it! The staff is so welcoming, the food is fantastic, and we loved the decor, what a nice find! The owner stopped by all the tables to say hello and share a laugh. The cheeseburgers are delicious, and we really appreciated the big side salads. Family friendly.

Came for the evening because of the rating on Maps. It has Kilkenny beer. I had the pizza, which is like a pizza you'd get in a pub - good but not exceptional. There was still the Kilkenny. The place is dark and cosy, it would be great for an evening between friends or colleagues. Did I mention they have Kilkenny? The service was very good.

The place is cozy, a pleasant atmosphere and the best is the service. Without a doubt the best thing I have eaten is Dünnele. I am specialists in it. The last thing I would recommend would be the burger.

Always super nice and delicious. Max has a super nice nature and the perfect rapport, especially with the youngest guests aged 5 and 7.

The Old Marys is the most wonderful pub in all of Konstanz and the world. Max and his entire staff are all mice and you immediately feel comfortable and at home. Drinks and food were all great, especially the Dünle! Rightly our favorite pub, there's nowhere we'd rather go!

Clocky pub, nicely decorated. Dear employees. Even the boss works with us and is very accommodating. I ordered a Pizza Diavolo, which I think was homemade. It tasted very good. Unfortunately it was a bit crowded in the pub and we had to wait a little longer for our drinks. - but it was very crowded that evening. My colleague who comes from Konstanz; I really like going to this pub.

Nice pub. Food was tasty, but the soup came at the same time as the burger instead of as an appetizer. That makes no sense. The burger was first kept warm and then remade.

We spontaneously went to this pub on December 30, 2024. Are not from Konstanz. Location was great. Ambiance was ok for a pub. It was pretty well attended, or rather full around 7 p.m. Just had something to drink. The two guys behind the counter were super nice and friendly. A smile is worth a lot more than 1000 words in gastronomy. First we were at the counter and then we were allowed to sit at a table that had become free. Noise level was quite high. We hadn't eaten anything. 4 wine spritzers for €20 was fine. Typical pub with a certain flair. What made me a little skeptical was that my wife and I were the only foreigners in this pub :-) No offense meant or anything. It's all ok. If we come to Konstanz again, we would visit this bar again and then have something to eat. Recommended.

Old Mary’s Pub – a temporary home Second Christmas Day. You walk across the border to Konstanz, make a quick call and Ralf – the bartender himself – greets you on the phone. As soon as you arrive, he stands outside and welcomes you with a smile as if you were an old friend. There's a beer inside that's perfect for the moment. Then an espresso martini to top everything. The ambience? A mix of Dublin and an Italian living room. Simply to feel good. Thank you, Ralf – you’re at home here.

Old Mary's is the Garden of Eden of bar culture on Lake Constance. Never before has a pub like Old Mary's been able to satisfy me on every level of human existence. Not an evening went by without the excellent hospitality from the competent host and his friendly team with high-quality food and enjoyable drinks, which I will tell my children and grandchildren about. Just great!

The owner of this excellent shop is characterized by his warm hospitality, excellent staff and excellent food. I couldn't be happier, this true institution in the heart of Konstanz's old town fulfills every need that the human body has ever felt. Beer is also very tasty.

Really friendly staff even when there is a lot of traffic. Small but nice and very authentic together with the wall decoration and the general look. Of course it will be loud with a full house, but that's part of it. However, surprisingly small selection of burgers (0815 Burger and Vegi). Maybe there will soon be a burger version with that certain extra... You can't complain about the liquid... On the contrary

Cozy place with good beer and delicious food

Poorly organized. We waited almost 2 hours for our food and another 1 hour for shots. We had to ask 5 times whether our food was still coming and every waiter told us something different. We could see that the cook had already left and the kitchen was being cleaned. There needs to be better coordination. In addition, we weren't even offered a discount even though we waited so long. Paid full price and left.

So, I'm sure, based on other reviews, that yesterday wasn't a normal occurrence. But that was an absolute disaster yesterday! At 9:30 p.m. the two of us ordered this Beer&Basket thing. Then we were told the fries wouldn't come until 10 p.m. but that's fine. We got them at around 11:30 p.m. and as a group we ordered them three times and the first two came, as I said, at around 11:30 p.m. and the last ones were another 20 minutes later. The shots also came 1 hour later than ordered. Every waiter said something different about this. But wow, that was a picture-perfect disaster. No discount or anything else either. I won't go there anymore. The pub is really nice.

I can't judge the food because I've been waiting for my food for 2 hours. The beer tastes good, but the disappointment is great. Despite repeated requests, nothing happens.

A real insider tip in the old town. Very good fresh food prepared with a lot of commitment by a Neapolitan chef. The service staff are competent and quick. You sit in a wonderful atmosphere together with many other nice guests. Conclusion: Highly recommended restaurant that is much more than a pub.

Very tasty chocolate almonds with my tea

We actually had planned to go to dinner there, we had reservations. But we were about 25 mins early so we decided to check it out first and glad we did. The place hqsboot etial the inside is cool and has that Irish oub feeling. However it has a bad smell but most of all the service. When we arrived there were only 2 other people in the pub and then more tricked in. We ordered 1 beer and 1 cocktail and being in the fodd and beverage industry we were not impressed. Took them exactly 23 mins till we got our drinks. Thus to say we paid and left.

Everything is commendable - service (Alina), ambience (authentic!) and selection of drinks. But what is most remarkable is the food. Fantastic!!!! Massimo is a cook with heart and soul and even comes to the table himself to make recommendations. We haven't had such good Italian food in a long time! Thank you very much and gladly again. Wir suchten etwas spezielles für unseren Familienausflug nach Konstanz. Was wir im Old Marys Pub angetroffen haben, hat alle unsere Erwartungen getoppt. Der Koch Massimo ist eine Klasse für sich. Er hat uns Verwöhnt "nach Noten". Massimo kocht mit Leidenschaft und Herz. Herzlichen Dank! Wir kommen bestimmt wieder einmal. Danke auch an die Pub-Dame Alina. Massimo und Alina sind ein unschlagbares Team.

Went to the pub quiz for the first time. It was a lot of fun and the espresso martini was delicious!

Angela y Raymond tienen que decir un encantador pub/restaurante no sobre el tema irlandés. Las comidas y el menú era muy bueno, el servicio tip top, también una muy buena selección de cervezas probado el local, Guinness y Kilkenny eran todos excelentes y a un precio muy razonable, cuando te dan una pinta o Guinness por 5 euros en una zona turística popular siendo un escocés te quejas cannae. Las dos noches que estuvimos allí conocimos a algunas personas encantadoras en Old Marys. Conocí a una pareja de Holanda y a un chico fantástico originario de Nottingham, gran loco durante el fútbol en la televisión viendo el partido de Holanda en las pantallas grandes. Bien vale la pena una visita volveremos ya que la zona del lago de Constanza es una zona fantástica no nos quedamos el tiempo suficiente, ya que tuvimos que pasar a los juegos de Escocia.

La cerveza está fría y los vasos limpios. La comida es muy buena para el precio, buena selección de comida tipo bar. El personal es amable y el hombre extra milla. Merece la pena visitarlo Solo el lado negativo es que hay muy poco espacio para pararse en la barra, así que si estás por tu cuenta se te puede asignar una mesa por tu cuenta para sentarse allí como "Billy - no - amigos". De lo contrario no puede ir mal...

Opening hours are listed until 3 a.m., we were there at 1:50 and the woman working behind the bar just screams! Coming here from Stuttgart especially to experience such an impudence!! Either adjust the opening times or stick to them even if the older lady doesn't feel like it anymore... This happened on the night of May 25th to 26th and we have it on video. So not recommended!! Addendum: Thank you for your answer and comment. I can understand that it closes earlier if there is nothing going on in the bar. However, on the evening in question the bar was busy and the guests still had full glasses…. I'm also a fan of the direct manner, but I find shouting ZUUU, ZUU without any further words, unfriendly and not direct!

I really like going to Old Mary's Pub... it's comfortably furnished, the food is good, the price is right, the boss and the waitresses are very nice and attentive... sometimes it's a bit noisy, but there's also an adjoining room for undisturbed entertainment

Unfortunately, the SPD had a meeting after the "successful" European elections, which had a good atmosphere but was still a great local place. As a student you even get a 10% discount

Nice pub and very friendly staff!

We were there yesterday and ordered burgers and dundele. These came before our drinks, with the reason that the boss had prepared them. They were hot but tasted like fast food. The dundele didn't arrive until 10 minutes later, which meant we couldn't eat together or really enjoy it. Plus it was just full of cheese and therefore very “heavy”. Service was friendly but picked up my plate while I was still eating. Maybe it was just meant to be nice, but all in all we weren't satisfied

A very great shop where Max (the owner) takes care of you and spoils you with all sorts of delicacies. A dream. The ambience is also wonderful. So nice that I would love to live there if Max would allow it (but unfortunately he doesn't)... Nevertheless, I'm proud to call myself a regular guest! I also admire the staff's commitment to going out in the evening and getting vegan cheese so that I can have the pizza I want. All in all, wonderful.

Great pub in Konstanz. The two young service staff were extremely competent and friendly. You made our stay special! The “Dünnerle” are a great alternative to tarte flambée. How about a version with sourdough? The red onions are a great choice. The bacon could be exchanged for "real" bacon from the piece of "ham bacon". But it also tasted so good! There is also a great selection of drinks. It was also good that rugby was shown that evening and there was a nice “pub atmosphere” 🙂

I go to Old Mary's regularly. I really like the atmosphere and the service is great. I really enjoy eating pizza there, I can only recommend it!

The type of cuisine doesn't really match the style of the pub, but the quality is definitely better than what I know from pub food (I had the daily special, see picture). Nice service and a good selection of alcoholic drinks to suit most tastes.

American Review - We had the best time last night! Walked by, and the owner, Max, told us he was about to open. We he sounded so nice, and fish and chips are always a good option, so we decided to pop in! All of the staff were so friendly and it was probably the best fish in a fish & chips dish I've ever had! Highly recommend. Very reasonable drink prices.

Truly not an Irish pub. Come if you want to experience a mediocre restaurant dressed as an Irish pub and eat some dire scran. Also, if you want to watch Ireland play in a sport, like world cup rugby, for example, be ready to be told "no promises." Place might be halfway redeemable if they had any kind of clue about how to pour Guinness (the head is supposed to reach the head of the glass, lads).
