Hatten Essen zum Mitnehmen. Schweinebraten mit Kartoffelknödel und Sauce. Ein Beilagensalat für 4€, der war das beste am ganzen Essen. Mein Mann und ich sind sehr enttäuscht von einer bayerischen Wirtschaft, die sowas als Schweinebraten verkauft. Der Kartoffelknödel, eindeutig nicht selbst gemacht, hat nicht geschmeckt und die Sauce. Eher eine zähflüssige Zugabe mit Geschmacksverstärker. Ja, das wird auf der Speisekarte abgegeben, aber, das sowas ekelhaft es verkauft wird, ist Körperverletzung. Die Bedienung war sehr gestresst. Und da wir das Essen selbst geholt haben, gab es auch kein Trinkgeld.

We were here for lunch today. The schnitzel was served half raw. Of course we complained. The boss or the daughter came back with the schnitzel. The cook cut it open and only the beginning was raw. I'm seriously looking forward to the feedback!!!

The staff was grumpy and lacked any courtesy. We hadn't even entered when they immediately told us to leave because they were closing at 9pm, while on the website the closing time indicated was 11pm. All this was communicated to us in an extremely rude way!

Als Gast kenne ich das Lokal seit Jahrzehnten und bin dort immer gerne zum Essen eingekehrt. Bedienungen bekommen von mir grundsätzlich auch ein großzügiges Trinkgeld nach dem Motto "Leben und Leben lassen". Mir ist in der Vergangenheit immer wieder aufgefallen (zuletzt bei einer sehr alten Dame mit Rolator), dass die Bedienung "Tochter vom Wirt" sobald dieser nicht anwesend ist, Gäste sehr gerne in einem befehlerischen Ton zurechtweist, sodass ich mich oft fragte "was war denn jetzt so schlimm, dass sie Gäste in diesem Ton so extrem behandelt". Heute (08.08.24 ca. 16.00) wurde ich (mit 68 Jahren) bei dieser jungen Frau ebenfalls zu einem gefundenen Gäste-Opfer: Das Lokal war innen ziemlich leer, die meisten Tische frei und so suchte ich mir einen Tisch aus an dessen rechtem Ende 2 Speisekarten lagen. Eine davon nahm ich in die Hand und wurde sofort von dieser Person vor allen anderen Gästen lautstark mit schriller, aufgeregter Stimme angefaucht, dass ich dies gefälligst zu unterlassen habe. Ich solle mich erstmal setzen dann bringe sie mir die Speisekarte schon und fügte mit gleicher Lautstärke in voller Panik noch hinzu, dass es ihr selbst NIEMALS EINFALLEN WÜRDE, eine Speisekarte ("......die ja bereits an meinem Tischende lag......") als Gast in einem Lokal einfach so in die Hand zu nehmen. Das bestellte und bezahlte Getränk habe ich daraufhin nicht mehr ausgetrunken und auf eine Essen-Bestellung aus der Speisekarte, die man anscheinend nur mit Erlaubnis berühren darf, nach dieser unfreundlichen Begrüßung verzichtet. Ich denke mal, dass ich auf solch eine Art von "Gästedressur" sehr gut verzichten kann und daher das Lokal, in Zukunft nicht mehr besuchen werde. Was diese junge Bedienung betriftt, kann ich ihr (....auch wenn sie sich wie der Chef persönlich fühlt......) nur einen gut gemeinten Tipp geben: VORSICHT - HOCHMUT KOMMT OFT KURZ VORM FALL ! Hoffentlich bleiben durch diese Bewertung in Zukunft wenigstens andere Gäste, die "ohne Erlaubnis die Speisekarte in die Hand nehmen" von solch einer "Spezial-Behandlung" durch eine völlig aufgebrachte Bedienung, verschont.

It tastes really good here, but the portions have become smaller. The schnitzel used to be bigger and the side dish sometimes had more on it. The pizzas are really tasty and better than the Italian ones, 5 STARS. Pizzas, on the other hand, are nice and big. Conclusion: Taste is 5 stars, but portions are not big enough and are getting smaller, so half a star is deducted.

Das Lokal kennen wir schon lange.Essen war wieder okay.Nur wenn ich für alle bei schönen Wetter im Garten reserviere wäre ich dankbar gewesen wenn das funktioniert hätte.Das Wetter war schön und warm.Aber Nein es wurde im Wintergarten reserviert.Darübet bin ich echt sauer,denn wenn man das nicht machen will,sollte man nicht danach fragen.Bin selbst im Service tätig,mir wurde noch beigebracht der Kunde ist König.Schade,dass das hier nicht der Fall ist.

Update July 4, 2034: After I enjoyed it so much, I really wanted to eat here again. Big disappointment!!! The answers from St. Benno that you can/should complain straight away are a lie to cover up the bad reviews because I complained straight away and was told that's how it should be. As if they had invented the kitchen and the guest didn't know how a dish should be prepared. We had onion roast, pepper staik & Argentinian staik... The side dishes were sometimes grated potatoes and sometimes fried potatoes. Since we received the same potatoes, I asked what the difference was. Answer: so that the same thing isn't on the menu 🫣🙄 Since I have stomach problems, I didn't order Pepper Staik but the Argentinian Staik. The difference: mine didn't have any pepper sauce but, like the other one, it was covered in coarse pepper from the mill 😞 Then I could have ordered a Pfeffer Staik straight away. It was explained to me that it was normal and that it was a Staik pepper. Yes, of course a dish is seasoned with salt & pepper BUT I didn't order pepper with staik but just an Argentinian staik with herb butter and grated potatoes. I got a lot of pepper with normal fried potatoes & a piece of meat which was okay but I still couldn't eat it!!! Then they were kind enough to bring me a small plate so I could scrape off the pepper 🥺 As if my plate was too small for that 🙄 or did they actually believe that they could tell me: don't act like that then don't eat the pepper!??? It's unbelievable that they think that if you can't tolerate something (which wasn't on the menu!) then just scrape it off... as if the pepper had then disappeared. I can only shake my head at the incomprehensibility of this behavior. I'm looking forward to the ridiculous answer... I'm from Austria. Roast pork was completely different than in Austria BUT extremely tasty!!! My companions' food was also great. Price performance is 100% given. Would come back at any time. We didn't have a reservation, the place was full but we found space, well served & sooo good! Thanks!!!

We spontaneously went to the beer garden for lunch. Despite many visitors, we were served quickly. The food was delicious and was served within a quarter of an hour. The service staff was very nice and accommodating.

We were here after a funeral with our 32 guests. We received a very friendly welcome and the reserved tables were prepared and set. Since we were 15 fewer people than previously ordered, we didn't use all the tables. That wasn't a problem for the staff - thank you very much for that. The menu for this number of people only included 4 main courses, which was perfectly fine. The service was very friendly and attentive, the food was served quickly and the portions were good. The schnitzel was very tasty, but the roast pork probably didn't meet everyone's taste. The rustic restaurant also has a nice little beer garden and a bright, very beautiful winter garden. The price/performance ratio for Munich is very good and we will probably come more often now.

Where this restaurant still scores points is the friendly service. When it comes to the ambience, you have to be content with compromises. “Whoever likes it that way”. The kitchen looks more like a “chip shop” than a bay. Restaurant. The survival strategy can be guessed at, beer garden and walk-in customers.

Unbelievable but truly 😇 a great culinary oasis right in front of the Stadelheim. A great team of waiters who enjoy their work and literally read the wishes from the lips of the seasoned guests from young to advanced age. A meeting place for everyone who can enjoy comfort and good food. The price-performance ratio is amazing and the delicious food is hard to eat 😇😁 the cozy beer 🍺 garden is a stunner. We live a stone's throw away and are therefore often at St. Benno's. It is simply a Bavarian economy as it is written in the book. Wooden, but with a winter garden and a small beer garden in summer. The menu is clear and is complemented by a varied daily menu; you can find fish, meat and a few vegetarian dishes (there is also a vegan option on the daily menu). The food is very tasty, the meat is of good quality and well prepared, the side dishes are all fresh and the sauces are a dream! The price here is in the absolutely fair average, around €19 for a veal schnitzel with fries, around €14 for a beer brat with potato salad. Since some reviews have previously mentioned the service, I would also like to say something about it: Whenever we eat here we are warmly welcomed. The waitresses are all really friendly and attentive. On busy evenings you may have to wait longer or be processed a little quicker. But I think that's completely understandable, they've been looking for temporary workers for a long time and you don't have to expect royal treatment, but nobody here has ever been unfriendly. All in all, St. Benno Einkehr is a little insider tip: Great food, nice atmosphere, nice people.

Wir waren spontan am Pfingstmontag mit 7 Personen Abends zum Essen da. Der Biergarten war sehr gut gefüllt. Der Service war wie immer sehr schnell und aufmerksam. Das Essen kam wie immer schnell. Wir kommen immer wieder gerne zu Euch!

St. Benno actually deserves zero stars. We have been regular guests here as a family for years. The boss himself and the waitresses are great. But the boss's daughter is incredible. If you treat a group of 14 people (afternoon not evening) badly because the reservation was only for 16, you are either in the wrong job, have a worse day or don't need more. She just doesn't fit in. Would never come here again. Don't recommend anyone either. You wrote that I only told half things. Don't do the same yourself. First the junior boss started screaming. Then she put the tables together. What was not possible at the beginning was suddenly possible. If we didn't have small children with us, we wouldn't have stayed anyway. There are enough restaurants in the area. Normally it was said that the customer is king, but there it is said that the junior boss is queen and can say and do anything. Pity about your father. He's actually a really nice person and host.

Nice beer garden, delicious food and very nice service! Excellent price/performance ratio. The only bad experience we had yesterday was other guests who terrorized the waitress despite efforts to fulfill their special requests. After all, they converted half of the beer garden for the family.😅 But that also speaks for the professionalism of the employees in remaining flexible even under stress and making the best of it. We would definitely like to come back.

The worst restaurant visit I have ever experienced. You spend money here to be shouted at and attacked loudly, aggressively and incredibly disrespectfully in front of other people. The only thing they asked for was to push tables together. We've been coming here as a family for years, so you'd expect a little flexibility in seating options wouldn't be too much to ask. We made reservations for 16 people and received confirmation of the reservation in person. Only to be literally shouted at on site that a reservation for 12 people is only possible. Although there were even 3 fewer people there than planned. We often went to the owner to politely ask if we could please put the tables together. Because it is not possible to expect three people to sit separately at a family celebration. Quite apart from the fact that the tables were not prepared, which is part of the owner's job to take care of taking and preparing reservations properly, we ended up being YELLED at in front of everyone that this wasn't possible. If it is not possible to provide such a service, then you should not accept it. It's that simple! I just want to mention again that our visit was a family celebration with children. After she, the owner, destroyed the entire atmosphere and scared the children, it was suddenly possible to move the tables WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS. The whole mess could have been prevented if the tables had been prepared as promised from the start or if the tables had been pushed together from the start. Unfortunately, we also have to emphasize that we always tried to see the best in the restaurant and the owner, despite the clearly different service towards us than that of the other guests (unlike us, German guests) Today the owner herself has proven that this is a restaurant that is not suitable for children and that, despite years of loyalty, she treats her guests passively aggressively, like mutts running around. Something like that just doesn't work. It's extremely unprofessional. We are deeply disappointed to receive this in return for our long loyalty to the restaurant. We regret every bit of money we have spent with them over the last few years. We really hope that their behavior in the restaurant towards their guests will change somewhat. But as I can see from some Google comments, this is not the case. (Just for your information: eating is only half the job of a restaurant, if you're not treated well you'll lose your appetite. Especially not under the hateful gaze of the owner and the chef. I would love to eat every bite I took today again "hand back") We deeply regret our experience today. But unfortunately this is how you lose customers for years. Through incredibly disrespectful behavior.

Years ago I discovered the St. Benno Retreat by chance. We were there again recently and even though - like everywhere else - the prices have risen, you can still get a good meal there for good money. The staff is usually always nice and friendly. Thank you so much that such “original” locations still exist!

We were last there this week....were rudely turned away by the owner because it was fully booked. As we were leaving we were called like dogs that he still had something...we left...Never again!

Waren mit einer größeren Gruppe da. Bedienung freundlich und aufmerksam. Getränke und Essen kamen schnell und alle Essen zur gleichen Zeit. Essen war klasse, Portionen reichlich. Nichts auszusetzen. Kommen sicher wieder.

Extrem unfreundliche Bedienung, nachdem wir selbständig die Speisekarte anschauten wurden wir sofort gemaßregelt, sehr unfreundlich nahezu unverschämt. Angeblich von der Wirtin selbst??? Daher keine Empfehlung.

schlußendlich sind 2 sehr gütig : zum Glück gewährte das 1€ Slot des Klos im Bürgerking am Ostbahnhof Einlaß. (.....,....., 🤢, ..... ) Wars das dicke Stück Paprika im kl. gem. Salat ? oder ein welkes Blatt dazwischen ? Rohkost waschen ? COLI an den Finger ?? sicher nicht die Soße : die war sowas von industriell die hält mindestens 100 Jahre. Schade um diese 1980/90 Zeitkapsel, so Orte werden selten, im Hier und Jetzt alles etwas lieblos, mit Herzblut in Küche & Service wäre hier Kult zu schaffen. Aber die Lust scheint denen vergangen

The food was good but the waitress was very rude. She behaved very unsympathetically and disrespectfully towards us. There was also a strong smell of sweat and stale smell in the place. Both aspects made the dinner unpleasant, which is why we won't be returning or recommending it.

I feel sad when you go there as a customer and you tip too much. Unintentionally, you're not even allowed to correct that because it's already in the checkout. I think this should be done as a goodwill gesture and perhaps you should accommodate the customer a little and not be so snotty, just sad, that's how you unfortunately lose customers. 😢😢 it's just sad. Wir sind schon lange Gäste in der Einkehr. Leider gibt es dies echt leckere Pizzen nicht mehr. Wir waren immer sehr zufrieden dort. Aber das letzte Mal doch sehr unzufrieden. Von dem Essen wird nichtmal ein Kind satt. Die Teller sind lieblos angerichtet, ohne Tomate,Salatblatt oder einfach nur bissel Petersilie oder Schnittlauch. Sehr schade. Die Preise sind sehr günstig. Die Servicekraft wirkte überfordert (ist wohl neu dort). Wir werden dort leider nicht mehr essen.

Eat very good home cooking. Price - performance is right! Toilet is outdated, but very, very clean! Sitting in the shady garden is very comfortable. But what is completely incomprehensible to me is that the older waitress is really not friendly. Very grumpy, unbalanced and completely dissatisfied with himself, which has a very negative effect on the guest. She should change careers quickly if she is so dissatisfied with her life. There is certainly a job in the world that she enjoys and is satisfied with. All other service staff were very friendly. No change in 2022, just that the prices have gone up like almost everywhere and the beer is poured very poorly, November 2022 prices increased again and beer is still poured poorly in 2023 and the prices continue to rise! September 2023, the food is still very good, the beer is still very poorly poured. The old grumpy service still annoys the guests, they ignore criticism instead of improving. February 2024, the food was absolutely great, but prices had risen again and the beer was still poorly served

The service is terrible. When we were eating we actually wanted to order more, but then we were told they wouldn't come back a second time anyway. The food wasn't really good either, apparently a new chef. We were always satisfied but now never again.

Fast service even with many guests. Good food, including some recipes that used to be available in Bavaria, but have now been sacrificed to the mainstream in many restaurants. And the pricing is very, very fair, both for food and drinks.

An original place to eat. You feel like you've been transported back a few years. The food and service is very good. You can eat quickly or spend an entire evening here. In summer the beer garden is the highlight with a nice cool Augustiner. You are welcomed with Bavarian-Munich warmth, which shocked some tourist friends.

Sind spontan mit 5 Leuten vor Ort gewesen. Es wurde sofort ein Platz möglich gemacht, was sehr nett war. Preis-/Leistung war sensationell und das Essen durchweg sehr gut. Blut- und Leberwurst war sehr sehr gut. Service sehr freundlich und mit Humor. Würden sofort wieder kommen.
