The kimchi stew was delicious! I wish it was a little spicier and had more kimchi, but it still felt like it hit the sweet spot between local and Korean tastes. The side dishes were clean and the atmosphere was nice! It's a great place to visit when you want to introduce Korean food to friends in a slightly upscale setting.

I had the beef radish soup, and it was surprisingly perfect. The bibimbap was also delicious, but the gochujang was a bit spicy, so you might want to consider the amount you add. The kimchi pancake wasn't crispy enough, which was a bit disappointing. I'm grateful for the prompt and friendly service from the staff.

My Experience at Sonamu, Frankfurt I recently visited Sonamu in Frankfurt and I have to say: it was totally worth it. As soon as I walked in, I felt like I was stepping into a piece of Korea in the middle of the city – the wooden interior is reminiscent of those small family restaurants you find in Korea. It's somehow cozy and authentic. The Coke was a highlight for me because it wasn't just Coke – it was served with strawberries, lemon, lime, and berries. Sounds simple, but tasted incredibly refreshing. Right up my alley. My meal: Japchae with fresh vegetables and sesame oil – honestly, it was really delicious. And the galbi was tender, slightly sweet, and, together with rice and the many small side dishes (kimchi, sweet and spicy radish, marinated potatoes), simply perfect. This combination of everything brought a little smile to my face. My friend had mandu and the vegetarian bibimbap – no idea how he liked it, but it looked pretty good. In conclusion: If you're craving authentic Korean food cooked with heart, then Sonamu is highly recommended. It's full of warmth – the kind you want to feel when you're looking for a taste of home.

I felt very comfortable. The staff was very friendly and was able to give me recommendations for dishes. My individual requests regarding the level of spiciness were also taken into account. All dishes (starter, main course, and small dessert) were freshly prepared and completely impressed me with both their presentation and their taste. I would be happy to return. There are certainly still a few delicacies left on the menu.

My husband and I went out to eat today. The ambiance was okay. We had to sit inside because it was raining. It was very plain and simple. I found the seating a bit uncomfortable after a while, as the benches are wooden with thin cushions, making it difficult to lean against something. I liked it better outside. The service is absolutely fantastic! The food and drinks come quickly. The waiters are super friendly and attentive. The food was excellent; we had bae tschu tschon and mu kuk, and for the main course, dop bap and bul go gi with pork neck. You can adjust the spiciness ;) Very, very tasty and well-seasoned. The homemade lemonades could use more flavor, but otherwise, it's great! We'd love to come back.

Sonamu looks like it’s about to serve you a Michelin-starred K-drama dinner, but the flavor plot twist was… disappointing. The beef bulgogi came out like a chunky steak that forgot it was supposed to be sweet—basically bulgogi with an identity crisis. 🥩 The pork bulgogi wasn’t spicy or sweet like it’s supposed to be, just salty enough to make me wonder if they marinated it in the Dead Sea. 🧂 The japchae followed suit, way too salty, and the rice showed up fashionably late like it didn’t even want to be part of the meal. Presentation is gorgeous, but the kitchen needs a refresher on Korean 101 because the basics are completely MIA. ⭐️⭐️⭐️½ ㅇ ㅕ ㄱ ㅣ ㄱ ㅣ 보ㄴ 안 도 ㅣ잇 네 요

The food was incredibly delicious, the staff were very friendly and accommodating, and dogs were welcome inside and outside. Our dog was given a bowl of water. Very dog-friendly. If we're in the area again, we'd love to come back.

A great introduction to Korean food for newcomers – just don’t expect the bold, punchy flavors of Seoul.

The starters were quite decent but not the main course. My friends and I have ordered different options, vegetarian was good. My squid was extremely hot. The service was lovely though, a cozy terrace is an advantage.

Authentic Korean food of the highest quality – a clear recommendation for Sonamu in Frankfurt After a long day at the Eurobike trade fair, the three of us – including a local colleague from Frankfurt – met at the Korean restaurant Sonamu. He had recommended the place several times before – and we were not disappointed. Quite the opposite: I would give the food more than 5 stars if that were possible. The ambiance is traditionally Korean, with great attention to detail. We particularly enjoyed the outdoor area, which is quiet and tastefully decorated – a small oasis in the middle of Frankfurt. The food: We started with a selection of different appetizers, which we shared – each of which was a perfect foretaste of what awaited us in the main course. I had the vegetarian Bi Bim Bap, served in a scorching-hot stone bowl, as is typical of Korean cuisine. The combination of perfectly seasoned vegetables, rice, egg, and sauce, which continue to sizzle in the hot bowl, creates an incredibly aromatic yet crispy texture, the likes of which I've never experienced before. For me, this is one of the best vegetarian dishes I've ever eaten. The service was attentive and friendly, and the menu offers good options for meat eaters, vegetarians, and vegans alike. The quality of the ingredients, the preparation, and the presentation were all top-notch. In conclusion: If you're looking for authentic Korean cuisine in Frankfurt, you should definitely put Sonamu on your list. It's already one of my firm favorite restaurants in the city – and I'll definitely be back on my next visit.

A quick note: I'm writing this review because I really hope the feedback will be accepted and acted upon, as this restaurant has truly incredible food and drinks, but unfortunately, some areas (mainly the service) are just really poorly organized. I had previously been to sonamu with friends and yesterday (June 27, 2025) I invited my family because I wanted to show them the truly delicious food. As I said, I love the food and the ambiance of the restaurant. When we walked in, the young man immediately escorted us to our table. We then waited a while for our menus, which we only received after we alerted the waiter. He apologized and brought us the menus. This isn't a big deal in itself and can happen to anyone, but it certainly wasn't the best first impression. Afterward, the waitress who looked after us for the rest of the evening came to our table. She didn't greet us and just stood there quietly with a bored, annoyed expression. She asked, incredibly quietly and listlessly, "Drinks?" Nothing more. I've honestly never seen such a listless and negative server. We then immediately ordered our main courses. The waitress wrote down the dishes on her pad and didn't say a single word to us. There was no human interaction whatsoever, which is a real shame. Not even non-verbally was there any sense of interest or friendliness conveyed. We had ordered three starters, which arrived at our table before we received our drinks. I would recommend that they really coordinate things better. It's not without reason that they usually come in the order of drinks, starter, and main course. The waiter with the long hair then brought our drinks and at least apologized for the delay. Unfortunately, that was the second thing that was poorly coordinated. The waitress then brought out our main courses and placed the side dishes on the table, bluntly saying, "Lotus root, cabbage..." We weren't wished bon appetit or anything like that. This listless and callous attitude is so unpleasant and unfortunately ruins the experience of consuming truly delicious drinks and food. The atmosphere is lovely, but the service is truly catastrophically inhumane. You shouldn't get the impression that the waitress is half asleep. My three family members had already finished, while I was obviously still eating. I had also deliberately helped myself to the side dishes at that moment to signal that I was still eating. The waitress then tried to clear the side dishes, whereupon I told her I was still eating and asked her to leave them on the table. During our visit, we also observed other guests asking for the waitress's attention but not receiving it, and how the waitress acted listless at other tables as well. When asked for the bill, the waitress bluntly threw the four candies onto the table. I simply wanted to describe how poor the service was, and I hope sonamu takes this review to heart, because the food and drinks are outstanding. Unfortunately, the service is truly abysmal. As a guest, you want even the slightest bit of human interaction, even if it's just a greeting or a single smile. I'm giving it two stars because I hope this review will make the restaurant owners aware of the terrible service and allow them to change things, because the place has a lot of potential. I hope my next visit will bring better, friendlier, and more lively service.

Surprisingly large portions, a very manageable menu, but very good quality. The homemade lemonades are very light and delicious, but they're overshadowed by the flavor explosions of kimchi and the like. Always happy to go back.

The food was ok not special . I’ve had much better Korean food here in Frankfurt. What really bothered me, though, was how I was treated when I walked in. Before I could even step fully inside, the Asian girl at the counter asked if she could help me, in a way that made me feel like I wasn’t supposed to be there. It felt like I was being racially profiled, and it left a bad taste in my mouth before I even got to the food.

A very tasty Korean restaurant that is deservedly popular - it is better to book a table in advance. We tried bulgogi with chicken and bibimbap with beef. It is nice that you can choose the meat to your taste, and bibimbap is also available in a vegan version. The presentation of the dishes is impressive - your appetite awakens as soon as the food is brought to the table. Everything is fresh, aromatic and with a bright taste. An excellent choice for lovers of Korean cuisine!

Even though our table was reserved for another half hour, we were asked to pay without even asking for the bill. This is beyond unprofessional. The food is okay.

There are a few dishes that are somewhat similar to Korean food, but something like Kimchi-jjigae, for example, tastes nothing like the real thing. I was slightly hopeful, but as expected – it’s China-style. It’s a restaurant run by Chinese people imitating Korean cuisine, not offering authentic Korean food.

Last week my family and I ate at Sonamu Restaurant. Overall it was a mixed experience. The homemade drinks “Lemonade Rhababer” and “Ginger” were unfortunately quite bland and could have used a little more flavor. There were four of us and we ordered four dishes: Dak Gang Jeong was way too sweet – without the slightly salty note and the added vegetables, it could have been a chicken dessert. Kim Sam Bok was ok but nothing special. O Zing O Bokkeum was also pretty average. Bulgogi duck: Unfortunately, the duck breast meat was a bit tough. The side dishes such as kimchi, potatoes and rice were included in the price and could be ordered free of charge - a nice service. As far as the service is concerned, the employees were extremely friendly, attentive and helpful - that deserves high praise!

We were pleasantly surprised. The selection may not be that big, but I think it's a good thing. For many dishes you can choose which side dishes you want or whether you want them spicy. The conditions are very nice and friendly. You don't have to wait very long for the starters either. I can only recommend the homemade lemonade with ginger flavor.👌 When we were there, you could only pay with cash.

A visit to the Sonamu restaurant is definitely worth an experience - but you should definitely make a reservation in advance. 👍😊👏 The first time I went there were no free seats, which shows how popular the place is. 💯✨🎉 The food was consistently very good to excellent. 👍😋👏 The portions were generous and completely sufficient. 💯✅😊 I was particularly impressed by the spiciness of the dishes – just the right amount. 🔥🌶️💯 The waitress specifically asked if I really liked it spicy, which I found to be very attentive. ⭐️😊🙏 My dish was served on a hot, sizzling platter – a real highlight! 🔥💥🍽️ The second dish was also very tasty, although not quite as outstanding as the first, but still at a very high level. 😋🌟👍 For dessert there was an interesting interpretation of tiramisu - served in the shape of a ball and decorated with fresh fruit. 🍓🍦😋 Overall, a great culinary experience that impressed me. Despite the short wait, I will definitely come back – and certainly more than once! 🎉🥂🥰

Simply perfect. I rarely rate in superlatives, but this restaurant really impressed me. The food was super tasty and really something special. The waitresses were very friendly and accommodating. The atmosphere is inviting, modern and cozy I would recommend making a reservation early and bringing cash with you, as unfortunately card payment is not possible.

Food was absolutely amazing. It was indeed a bit pricey but in my opinion, the taste was worth it. You also get free Banchan, which is actually rare in Korean restaurants here in Germany. Overall, it was worth the trip.

The atmosphere was very nice, we were lucky enough to find a table without a reservation on a weekday evening. The meals were enjoyable. I especially loved their Soju cocktails. Korean beers are also very light and delicious with meals. The best thing is their coconut ice cream. They serve it by stuffing coconut. We had a really nice night in Frankfurt. I recommend.

Food is pretty decent but don’t understand the hype 😅 price was slightly expensive but the food did not reflect that it’s worth the price. ordered dop bap, but tbh it tasted not much different from regular bulgogi at other Korean restaurant (still taste good but just … hmm can’t taste any different about the stew beef) 🥲 also, in the menu it’s written Fresh enoki mushroom but I did not expect to be RAW ENOKI MUSHROOM 🧐 Enoki mushroom are not supposed (or atleast not recommended) to be eaten raw, hence I think the restaurant should make some adjustments to this dish. I did tried to take a try of the raw enoki with the bowl, tbh it doesn’t elevate any flavour for the dish hence I don’t see the necessity of this raw enoki that give RISK OF FOOD POISONING to be served here ⚠️ The brown rice was cooked well! Also I like their pomegranate soda 🥰 ——— Overview : no harm to give a try, but nothing too impressive, and need to get a reservation.

We had dinner here today with the whole family. Very nice staff. The food was super tasty and authentic. We gave everything with 5 people and stayed under €200. We are now fans and will definitely come back. It's worth making a reservation. Cash only wasn't a problem because it was already communicated when we made the reservation.

We were here yesterday - and thrilled. The dishes, O zing o bokkeum (octopus) and bibimbap (with duck) were served quickly and of the best quality. This is what Korea tastes like! Also worth highlighting is the service, which is in the hands of two young women. This dynamic duo had everything under control professionally and was very personable. The coconut ice cream for dessert was also wonderful!

If you're looking for the perfect Korean taste, this is the place to go, but it's good because each restaurant has its own flavor. While the staff was serving food, my thumb kept touching the food I ordered, which was very uncomfortable. It is a pity that even the basics of the restaurant industry are not implemented, regardless of whether there are Korean employees or not. Please pay attention to basic training and management.

The four of us shared three different starters and a main course, so we were able to try everything out and there was enough for everyone. The highlight was the baked Maultaschen “man du”. The baked vegetable wedge “ja che tui guim” and the main course “bi bim bap” were also very tasty. The only thing we didn't really like was the glass noodle salad (jap che), but that's also a matter of taste :) All in all a special experience - thank you very much :)

I've been a customer here for over 10 years. The quality of the food is consistent and always very good. We were there again today. The beef soup is outstanding and an absolute must. Currently only cash payment possible. There are banks everywhere around it, so it's easily doable.

We can only recommend the store. We were there with our two small children on a Friday afternoon and found it totally relaxing. Didn't have to make a reservation because it was probably just after the lunch rush and just before the evening rush. We were recommended something for the little ones, because they eat everything but not that spicy. What can I say? We were all thrilled. The kids liked it and so did we. The service was very nice and accommodating. The food was delicious (original sound children). Price-performance ratio is completely fine. We will definitely go there again.
