Very nice Korean restaurant, very friendly staff, delicious food

Hurray for good food again. Before Corona I only gave 2 stars. But now we've eaten there twice. And all I can say is just how good it was after the opening. I can only recommend it 👍😋🤠 A little tip: “spicy” should be taken seriously 🧑‍🍳😄

Great Korean restaurant. The hospitable atmosphere is very inviting. The interior and furnishings are lined with wood and looked harmonious. The red wooden chairs and decoration, also in red, complete the atmosphere. The menu is pleasantly clear. The food and drinks were lovingly prepared and served. Everything is visually very appealing. The food was freshly prepared. I found the soup very tasty, the rice cooked just right, the meat (duck and beef) was nice and tender. Perfectly balanced dishes with good spiciness. Overall: excellent taste explosion! The portions were large. The service was very good. The service was courteous and gave competent advice. The prices are reasonable. We felt very comfortable. Thank you very much for a successful evening. Conclusion: Fantastic food. Clear recommendation. If you're looking for variety, you've come to the right place. The culinary journey of discovery is very worthwhile. A reservation makes sense because it is very well attended.

The four of us shared three different starters and a main course, so we were able to try everything out and there was enough for everyone. The highlight was the baked Maultaschen “man du”. The baked vegetable wedge “ja che tui guim” and the main course “bi bim bap” were also very tasty. The only thing we didn't really like was the glass noodle salad (jap che), but that's also a matter of taste :) All in all a special experience - thank you very much :)

I've been a customer here for over 10 years. The quality of the food is consistent and always very good. We were there again today. The beef soup is outstanding and an absolute must. Currently only cash payment possible. There are banks everywhere around it, so it's easily doable.

We can only recommend the store. We were there with our two small children on a Friday afternoon and found it totally relaxing. Didn't have to make a reservation because it was probably just after the lunch rush and just before the evening rush. We were recommended something for the little ones, because they eat everything but not that spicy. What can I say? We were all thrilled. The kids liked it and so did we. The service was very nice and accommodating. The food was delicious (original sound children). Price-performance ratio is completely fine. We will definitely go there again.

Hmm.. In my experience, the food is not a highlight. You come in and feel like you have to leave straight away because the owner gave us up to 1/2 hour max. Small portion for a lot of money.

I've been coming to Sonamu for 11 years, so I think the restaurant, the ambience and of course the food are great! However, yesterday after 1 hour and 15 minutes in the restaurant (we had just finished eating!) we were told to pay soon because the next guests were already waiting!!! Cheeky! The three of us had been there since 6:00 p.m. (reservation by 7:30 p.m.) and this time we had to wait a relatively long time for food (which wouldn't be a bad thing if you weren't "kicked out" early). In addition, the time slot of 1 1/2 hours is very tight for 3 people!

The food was great as always, but the last few times the service was very special. Most recently the day before yesterday: 5 minutes before the end of our reservation we were asked if we wanted to eat something else and if they could bring us the bill. We knew that we only had 1.5 hours there, but at the same time the shop wasn't completely full and there were still four tables that were free at 9 p.m. and had already been cleared. Of course they were happy to bring us dessert, as well as the bill. We had just eaten the last piece when someone was standing next to us with their wallet out and we felt like they wanted to throw us out (mind you, we were sober, not loud or in any way conspicuous). We had the feeling that it was good enough for the money, but the pressure of having to occupy a table three times in the evening resulted in poor service and a feeling of being thrown out.

Was there for the third time now. Fantastic food. Nice, competent service and reasonable prices. Absolutely recommended.

Das Essen und der Service waren sehr gut. Immer zu empfehlen. Das einzige Störende war ein laut telefonierender Herr an einem der Tische. Es hat sich herausgestellt, dass dies offensichtlich der Inhaber war, welcher seine geschäftlichen Telefonate während der Mittagspause durchgeführt hat. Das ist sehr störend. Schade.

Always a great visit to the restaurant. The hosts are simply great. Everyone was very accommodating, friendly and warm-hearted. The food is incredibly delicious. There is nothing here that doesn't taste good!!!

The ambience is nice. The service is attentive and very friendly. The food is of great quality, but sometimes a bit reserved. It is served in decorative clay bowls. The cutlery could be of higher quality. And it's only possible to pay in cash...

Good Korean gastronomy. Tastes very authentic. Rice is not boring white rice either, but a healthy purple rice (A little too little water for my taste but everyone has a different style and preference) I personally wonder if they use the same kimchi in Kim Sam Bok as the ones served in Kimchi side dish. Overall great authentic Korean cuisine. Service is also very nice and helpful. I'd be happy to come back :) It was worth the money.

Went here for lunch based on the many good reviews. One point for the friendly staff. The food, on the other hand, just disappointed us in terms of taste! We had ordered Japchae, among other things, the glass noodles were completely overcooked, a single sticky ball with a few strips of vegetables and apparently only seasoned with pepper and a little soy sauce (for the right color). The fact that something like this is even served is an outrage. The remaining dishes (kimbap, bibimbap) were just as tasteless, although the consistency was at least right here. Only the kimchi jeon was ok. Anyone looking for traditional good Korean food should avoid this restaurant.

I've been there several times. But today was a disaster. Food was good as always. Service isn't great anyway. But today underground. The waiter cleared away while one person was still eating. Then knock over a bottle and the glass shards fly onto the plate of the person eating. No excuse. On the contrary, the waiter himself says that this happens often and that you can still eat it. The price of the dish was charged in full. I thought about it and the waiter came up behind us and started discussing it. Brutal bad show from service staff.

The food is truly delicious. I recommend you just ask for some advice for your waiter on what to order. They are kind, thoughtful, and have great recommendations based on your expectations. The food is spicy though, so if you do not like (or cannot handle) spicy food, be forewarned. The place is a bit small, and they only take cash, so make a reservation and be sure to withdraw some money before you go.

Went there spontaneously on the weekend, the restaurant was half empty. When asked whether there was still room for 4 adults and two children, the answer was “today only with reservation”… Well, we ate somewhere else, Berger offers plenty of other choices. 2 hours later on the way home the restaurant was even emptier than before. It may be that they handle it that way, but I still don't think it's good.

We have now been there twice in three weeks and would like to come more often. The bi bim bap is incredibly tasty and there is a large selection of Korean side dishes. If you're a fan of spicy food, you'll get your money's worth, but there are mild options too. And at the same time the optics are great too. This also applies to the starters, but I can't say anything about the desserts. The portions are large and the prices are between cheap and fair. The selection of drinks is also generous, everyone will find something here. The interior, with its wood paneling, is warm and inviting and doesn't distract from the food. The service is friendly, not only to guests, but also to each other, and works quickly, even when there is a lot going on. We'll definitely be back soon. Addendum: It can also be tolerated outdoors.

The food was super tasty. I was really looking forward to visiting there and was not disappointed. The staff was super friendly and the food was very quick for us. What I don't fully understand is the 90 minute time window. When we arrived and when we left there were easily 15 tables available. It is important that only cash payment is possible.

There is only a single vegan option, which only exists if you modify a vegetarian dish. Personally, I find it extremely weak these days. Staff super friendly.

Das war der letzte Besuch dort, wir wurden von dem unfreundlichen Personal einfach ignoriert, während andere Gäste, die deutlich nach uns kamen bedient wurden. Wir sind dann nach 30min ohne irgendwelche Art von Service wieder gegangen.

Except that the miso soup was a little too salty, everything tasted good. The waitress was there when you needed her. All the side dishes that were served free of charge is the respect that is shown to the guest. Thank you.

We had tried to get into this restaurant once before on a Friday evening, but couldn’t because all the seats were booked. However, on a Tuesday afternoon, it was no problem. Just a heads up—they only accept cash. As for the food and service, here was our experience: The miso soup was flavorful but could have been hotter. It was served lukewarm. For the main course, we ordered the vegetarisch dol sot bi bim bap and the pikant, mit chili bul go gi doe zi. The assortment of different pickled dishes was super delicious. Both main courses were excellent with a lot of flavors. The service was exceptional and friendly throughout.

The starters, the drinks, the main course, desert, service everything was perfect. Really nice Korean food. Just hard to find a parking spot on Bergerstr. :)

We spontaneously wanted to go out for dinner at Sonamu on a Saturday evening. The entire anteroom was unoccupied and there were also a few free tables outside. We were rudely turned away at the door and asked if we had reserved - they would no longer accept guests without a reservation - that was the statement, despite the many free tables. There was no explanation for this. Our backs were then immediately turned and we were left standing at the door. This restaurant doesn't seem to rely on new customers, so we will definitely avoid it in the future. It's a shame that the unfriendly staff ruined the first positive impression of the restaurant.

We visited this restaurant with family a few days ago. The atmosphere is beautiful and we received a very friendly welcome. The service was very friendly and also quick. What was a bit different from our last visit was the food: we find it to be not as authentic as we remembered it last time. It tasted good, but could be hotter. Overall we find it a bit expensive.

Please note: only cash payment is possible here. Unfortunately, the only cash sign is attached to the open glass door, so you don't notice it. The service is very nice and the food is very tasty. So: pack enough cash!

It was really worth coming here

There was a nearby Korean restaurant called Dan* that was open, but I didn't have a reservation so I hurriedly went to the restaurant. The name seems traditional, but many Koreans say that this restaurant doesn't have any Koreans in the kitchen. After ordering, I sat down and looked at the reviews. Oh, I'm so anxious? I did... . The menu items we ordered were kimchi pancake, stir-fried squid, stir-fried kimchi pork belly, and kimchi stew. I was very satisfied because every single thing was delicious and even spicy. As you can see from my reviews, I've been to many Korean restaurants in Europe, and it was so delicious that I couldn't understand why the actual review here was like that! Although there were no Korean staff, the staff could communicate in English and were friendly. However, the stew pot is too small for the price. It was delicious!

I have been to this restaurant a few times, and even after almost 2 years since my last visit, it never disappointed me. The soup was flavorful, and the main course was consistently excellent, maintaining a perfect balance of flavors. From the banchan to the main course, every dish was delicious. There were unique twists, yet the authenticity of each dish shone through. Despite being the only server and clearly under stress, he managed everything exceptionally well and remained friendly throughout. The service was top-notch.

Maybe we had bad luck but the food did not taste good, the meat was extremely chewy and some parts of the beef you couldn’t really break down.

Very nice place with delicious food, attentive service and nice outdoor seating. We had the pancakes with kimchi, tempura style vegetables, beef ribs stew and the rice and veggies dish in a stone pot. Miso soup and various pickles come as a compliment. Good beer and wine too. They only accepted cash 🤔

The Sonamu in Frankfurt has not accepted card payments for months, which is said to be due to a permanently “broken” device. The sign that says “At the moment” seems like a mockery because it has been hanging there for a really long time. Compared to other Korean restaurants in the area, Sonamu offers relatively little bang for the buck. No recommendation from me.

The “backyard” of Sonamu is like a small oasis within Frankfurt. You feel very comfortable there. The food was great. A little spicy, but not too spicy for me. The meat melts in your mouth. The hot bowls in which my friends had received their food also looked very good, they crackled with heat for a long time. I recommend Sonamu to everyone ;D The waitresses have all been nice so far. It's slightly more expensive, but worth every penny. I was very impressed by the special style and taste! Five stars from me.

What looks like a sauna from the outside is a great Korean restaurant from the inside. Regardless of whether they are vegetarian or with meat, the dishes on the small but fine menu are great. So far I have tried "bi bim bap" and "dol sot bi bim bap (vegetarian)" and "yuk ge chang (as a main course)". All really tasty. What is particularly noticeable is the very good base for soups and sauces, the wonderfully sticky rice and the coriander when used sparingly. (Nothing against coriander but it can quickly ruin a meal). In addition, there is an attentive and friendly service that is happy to explain to newcomers how to mix the individual components “correctly”. I usually give 5 stars for food to top restaurants, but Sonamu is the exception.

My wife (Asian) wanted to take a look at it, so I went there. In the pouring rain and the parking situation, we arrived at the restaurant 8 minutes after we had planned to reserve our seats. After I said the name, it was immediately followed by a "You're late, next time call ahead and let them know you're going to be late." Friendliness? Out of place, at least as far as the person was concerned. Time, working day. 6:00 p.m. We were assigned a table at the entrance on the right. Note, the tables here are so close together that if you don't want your neighbor to hear everything, you'd better stay silent. Impossible to have a conversation that you don't want anyone else to hear. Of course you can also hear everything from the people sitting next to you. Eating 3 x main courses (we were 3 people). 2 were quite ok, one had a lot of salt. Apparently that would be the case. Aha. Nothing was exchanged, nor was anything tried. Simply rejected. As far as I know, Koreans don't eat such heavily salted food. The tables are made of individual wooden boards, with a space in between. Well, you could also clean the gaps, as a tip for the cleaning company. To cut a long story short, this is Korean food made for Europe, it has less to do with real Korean food. Tables too close together, prices quite high, although of course rent etc. on Bergerstrasse won't be low either, and the friendliness of the staff varies greatly. Reception was subpar, service at the table was friendly.

I have been in the place many times and the food has been really ok but nothing special. But last time we were told that the kitchen takes a break (Saturday afternoon) although this information is not in the internet. We were also told that we need to book two days in advance (!) which was never the case in the past. The tone was very rude. It is a pity because we used to be regular customers but we will never visit the place again of course.

Disappointing experience at Sonamu Korean Restaurant in Frankfurt Rating: ⭐⭐ My companion and I recently went to the Sonamu Korean Restaurant in Frankfurt and unfortunately our experience was disappointing. Although the waitress emphasized that the dishes were spicy, we found them overly spicy. The side dishes were also very limited and the portion size of the main courses did not correspond to the price. The service was just sufficient as we weren't asked if we liked it or if we had any further requests. Overall, we can only give the Sonamu 2 out of 5 stars.

The service was very nice and one of the nicest people I've met in a long time🥹The food was also really phenomenal and you definitely get the service you deserve for the price.
