Good lunch, dignified ambience in the heart of the old town

The Kässpätzle were super tasty! The whole team is very friendly and accommodating. The selection of vegetarian dishes is a little smaller, but the quality is good and it was very filling. We had a lovely stay, thank you very much

You come in and think. It's very rustic here. The guy probably wasn't in the mood for small talk... but okay. You're not always in a good mood. The menu was clear. We ordered schnitzel with pepper cream sauce and spaetzle. The plate was a disgrace. TK goods...carelessly prepared. Sorry...we won't be coming anymore

Unfortunately, the price/performance is not right here at all. I had the veggie patties. Potato rosti from the frozen package, corn-zucchini patties were dry and the sauce was tasteless. The vegetables with it were ok. For €22, pretty steep.

The waiter actually managed not to say a single word during the entire process, from seating to paying. No hello, no thank you, no please, nothing. Also an achievement. The schnitzels, including frozen goods, are drowned in sauce without any love on the plate. The schnitzel was also burnt. Since almost everything is frozen goods, the price/performance ratio is not right here. The cheese spaetzes were excellent in taste.

Rustic ambience in half-timbered style. Food was tasty, but not a highlight. Half duck was good, vegetarian patty was a bit too dry and the potato rosti was a ready-made product. Service seemed a bit sleepy, overall it was a nice place, but in my opinion the prices were too high.

Everything is really great! A huge compliment to the entire crew. Rarely have we eaten so well and experienced such good service in the service desert of Germany. Had the lamb goulash and it was buttery tender. All thumbs up. Only recommended. Keep it up 👏🏻 👍🏻😘🫶🏼

Half a duck was burnt, charred black... unbelievable that something like that would leave the kitchen. The beef goulash was almost vegan, hardly any meat, just a lot of mushrooms and the spaetzle was overcooked. We didn't like it. The service employee was perfect.

A little place away from the Christkindl markets. Not too busy and we were seated promptly. It took a bit for our orders but food was promptly. The schnitzel was cooked with cranberry and horseradish and the sauce was rich with flavor. The goulash had cranberry and mushrooms with rich sauce. The beef filets with mushroom and onions was tender and hearty. The roast pork were large slices with potato dumpling and red cabbage. Everything was good flavor. It took quite a while for the waiter to come and close out our bill.

A matter of taste! We didn't like it that much. The dumpling was far too firm for me and far too little sauce for the duck. For heaven's sake it had hard vegetables and the gravy, which was heaven and earth all over the dish, was floury and tasted like nothing. It was clearly too expensive for that. Service ok.

The atmosphere seems run down and worn out. Women's toilet is unkempt and dirty. With so much activity, cleaning and trash cans need to be emptied regularly. The first sight when entering the restaurant is okay, a closer look during the stay reveals deficiencies. Especially in the hygienic area. Food is well crafted and tastes good. Service very accommodating.

Nice old economy. The food is ok. The price-performance ratio is good. The service is friendly. It would only be better if you got your cutlery before eating.

Forced us to pay our $114 bill with cash. The table next to us paid with card and the server told us they reached their “limit” and it was now cash only. Cannot find any truth about this claim.

Never coming back. Food was okay but we have tasted better dishes from other restaurants in Heidelberg. However, the experience of an okay restaurant turned into a restaurant I won’t visit again due to the rude service by one of the servers. We were forced to tip the said server 10% of our bill when we received very bad service by him. He had the audacity to say that it is mandatory for us to pay “his“ tip after we asked why the bill details is different to the amount we need to pay via the card machine. It was one of my worst eating out experience.

Usually I don't really write reviews after visiting a restaurant. However the server at this place was so extraordinary rude that I can't let it slip. When arriving at the restaurant we asked for a table for 2 and 1 of the servers just pointed to the back where there was an empty table without saying anything. Already a bit weird, however something we can ignore. Once seated, an older very friendly server helped us with our food and drinks. The food itself was ok but nothing special or mind-blowing. Good enough for when you're really hungry and your favorite place is full. After finishing our food we were waiting for our server to walk by again so we could pay. This however never happened. After waiting for roughly 30 minutes, in the restaurant that was at 20% capacity at most, we decided to try and get the attention from one of the other servers that were literally serving the tables right next to us. This already seemed quite challenging because none of them seemed to notice the waves or greetings. When we, after another 15 minutes in an almost empty restaurant, finally caught the attention of one of the waitresses she told us she would get her colleague. After another 5 minutes the uninterested server, from when we entered, came somewhere from the back. After he got his tablet from the bar it took him some time to get it sorted and he asked us from a distance "cash or card". After we answered card he finally came over to the table. Here he showed us the bill and passed the card machine with a different amount than the bill. When I asked him what this difference was he just said he already put 10% tip on there. I don't mind tipping, but tips have to be earned not demanded by someone who didn't serve us at all. I asked him where it said that a 10% service charge would be added to the bill he just pointed at the card machine and said "It's right there". I told him tip is voluntary and asked him why I should pay this, to which he literally answered "It's for my pocket". As I am not going to argue with these kind of rude people over €5 I just ended up paying it. However maybe it might be an idea to explain to your employee that he should give proper service for tips instead of just trying to try and rip it from customers that have to wait close to an hour to pay. The vegetarian food sounded very appealing, but was anything but tasty. A more detailed description can be found at the court. The service was tried hard. The ambience is generally rustic, but the cheap-looking colorful fairy lights and other decorations make it more like a pub. The toilets were dirty and the cubicles need to be repaired. It's a real shame, we expected more.

We had a nice meal here with 2 people. Friendly staff. We really liked the schnitzels. We had the schnitzel raclette and the schnitzel with cranberry, horseradish and cheese. The latter was a real taste sensation. Fresh with a bite, and then the sweetness of the cranberry. Really great!

The restaurant is located directly in the pedestrian zone and is therefore easy to reach. Catering was great, service was friendly and the food was really very good. Ambience very rustic, everything was very clean and well maintained - including the toilets. In terms of price, everything was really very fair.

Unfortunately a bit mushy salad with way too much sauce. The service was friendly but not really knowledgeable when it came to the (actually very manageable) menu. The food otherwise was ok.

We were there with a group of 6 people on a Saturday evening and had made a reservation request in the morning, which was answered very friendly. It was a cozy atmosphere. Food and drinks were plentiful, tasty and we didn't have to wait very long. We were very satisfied, thank you very much

⭐Food quality: My Bratwurst “Mergueze”, a lamb based spicy sausage made popular in France by the Algerian immigrants, is wonderfully flavorful. The side of fries is of a thin cut and fried to cheerful crispiness. The breaded fillet, Schnitzel, served with pepper sauce and without, are not impressive. The meat has not been tenderized, is tough to chew, and no moisture was preserved underneath the golden shell. ⭐Overall, the lunch was a good fuel recharge right before the hike up the steep slope to the castle on a day the Mountain Train was suspended for maintenance. ⭐Quiet with very gentle music, love it. Rich history, love it. ⭐Friendly service, no subtle racial prejudice felt towards us, a party of three East Asian faces. ⭐Very reasonable price, given the prime location on the main street and proximity to tourist magnets.

Nice rustic restaurant, good price-performance ratio. Relatively short waiting time when ordering. Friendly and fast staff. Very good food. Only recommended. The only thing that bothered me was that I asked beforehand if I could pay by card. But then in the end I had to pay in cash. We were told the device was somewhere in the store, but the device was at the checkout. I didn't like this way of handling things.

Vegetarian dish baked shepherd's cheese with vegetables was very reasonable, the same price as the schnitzel, without the bread roll I would have easily needed twice the portion to be almost full. Taste ok.

Saturday evening we were cashed in by a man with black hair and a beard. Both us and the table next door were charged exactly €5 too much. When we asked, we were not given the invoice. Something like that shouldn't happen and it leaves a very unpleasant taste

Had the Jägerschnitzel and Käsespätzle. Both unfortunately without any taste. I'll go out on a limb and say that ready-made catering products from the metro were used. Food was really seasoned 0.0. The Käsespätzle was a tasteless cream soup.

Daily report “Pälzer Saumagen” was good and is recommended, the fried potatoes took some getting used to, halved jacket potatoes fried in the pan. Portions large and sufficient. Old-fashioned atmosphere, recommended for lunch

The building and the German atmosphere look inviting at first glance, but it is very misleading, because the food and cleanliness in the place are a real disaster in terms of quality to price.... sauce from a package, reheated meats baked... and rubber bands under the tables... .it's more of a drinking place than any eatery. I don't recommend it!!! Avoid it at all costs

NOT good for gluten free (glutenfrei). The waiter looked really bothered to be asked things like “is the soup of the day gluten-free?” His answer: “No, it has cream in it” and when I explained that a gluten intolerance means I cannot eat wheat, his reply: “It has herbs in it, so it is not gluten free.” He took no further action to help me determine what on the menu I could eat. Very disappointing. Aside from that negative dietary experience, the location is very central, and the atmosphere inside historic. My friends said that the traditional dishes they ate (schnitzel and spätzle) were quite good. Portions were generous.

In principle very ok, got a place without a reservation during the Heidelberg Autumn. Place was drafty and cold because a cable was hanging out of the tilted window. Neither fries nor coleslaw written on the menu were delivered, rather sauerkraut plus fried potatoes. In principle it wasn't a huge deal, but it was put on the table without comment!

Nice, quaint restaurant with fast and friendly service. Unfortunately the price/performance ratio is not consistent. The gravy and hash browns were not homemade and there was no side dish. (I think a side salad could be ordered for €6). The schnitzel with raclette cheese was a bit too expensive for that. But the taste is okay!

Years ago it was a good restaurant, today it only has the menu of a tourist restaurant. Surprisingly, food arrived at the same time as the drinks we ordered together. My probably reheated half chicken was dry and miserably small. The drinks menu only shows beer without specifying the brewery. You have to ask the waiter to find out what brand it is.
