Great restaurant in Heidelberg — delicious food, friendly staff, and a really pleasant atmosphere. Highly recommended!

We met friends there for dinner. Great location, but unfortunately far too loud during peak hours for pleasant conversation. The food was only mediocre, not recommended. The service, however, was excellent.

Great brewery and experience in Heidelberg. We were a group of 60 people and managed to get place booked and the menu set. Great experience, the place is quite big and can house bigger groups and also different groups at the same time. The staff can be a bit more warmer but it is a German thing I guess.

We went there for a family dinner and also to discover German cuisine, and we weren't disappointed! Whether it was the sauerkraut with sausages or the apple strudel for dessert, everything was excellent. The non-alcoholic Paulaner beer is also delicious. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I highly recommend it.

A very famous restaurant with delicious food. Most importantly, they serve only halal food, and the staff are helpful and respectful, especially Idris Nadwa, who assists with halal orders. I tried the venison, which was wonderful, and they also have a delicious cheese platter as an appetizer.

We all felt very welcome and comfortable there – from the youngest at 1.5 years old to the great-grandfather at 85. We had a great meal here! All the food was excellent. Everyone enjoyed their choice. Friendly servers. Clean bathrooms. I had a non-alcoholic beer and it tasted amazing. Solid choice if you are in the area.

The hotel is integrated into a brewery, making it a plus for beer lovers. We had a comfort room, which was spacious enough. The beds were a bit too saggy for me personally. The bathroom was okay. Cleanliness was adequate. The reception is only open for a few hours a day, but it's very friendly. The restaurant is busy every day, so be sure to make a reservation! The food was delicious—typical brewery dishes (rather hearty). The beer brewed there is tasty. Prices in the restaurant are upper-midrange. The price for the hotel room is definitely too high.

The ambiance of the Kulturbrauerei Heidelberg is truly beautiful—quaint, cozy, and perfect for an evening in the old town. Unfortunately, that was the only positive thing about our visit. The service was an absolute disaster: The wrong food was served and still charged, and drinks that never arrived still appeared on the bill. Most of the waiters seemed overwhelmed and barely understood what I wanted. I asked for the bill three times until someone finally came after about 30 minutes—who then, without asking, wanted to round up the tip. The food was also disappointing: Soups arrived cold and sometimes the wrong kind, and the Diet Coke was a regular Coke—and not carbonated. Everything tasted average at best, but the price was exorbitant. In this price range, you can expect significantly more in Heidelberg's city center—both in terms of quality and service. The only positive aspects are the very clean restrooms and the pleasant ambiance. We didn't use the hotel, so we're giving it 5 stars for the sake of fairness. Conclusion: Unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend it – a nice restaurant, but catastrophic service and completely unreasonable prices.

The restaurant is located very close to Neckarmünzplatz, making it a tourist hotspot. Prices for a main course range from €20-35. A soup costs €12.50. We all enjoyed the food, and the portions were generous. We were able to pack up the leftovers and take them with us. The location itself is very nice, and the seating is reasonably comfortable. The staff seems extremely unmotivated and annoyed. What a shame!

Mass production has been top-quality so far, but it's declining! Many dishes are now offered with potato salad and coleslaw. And honestly, that's no longer appropriate for the roast pork with dark beer sauce. Even the previously unsurpassed pork knuckle lacks warm sauerkraut and mashed potatoes. The same goes for the Palatinate platter. Potato salad, coleslaw. That doesn't always work. No. Even if it's certainly convenient for the host and the chef. At least the trout is still served with salted potatoes and overly spicy spinach. Salt is nowhere to be found on the table. No waiter asks if everything's OK. On Saturday, the beer didn't taste good. For the first time. The best beer in Heidelberg! It was stale, old. No idea. The Pinot Noir wasn't the same anymore. It went back. The Riesling was really good. Make sure the quality stays the same. The prices are high enough.

This review is for the restaurant. The beer is good and tasty. That's about all the positives. The food is overpriced, and the portions are small. The meat filling in the two Maultaschen was less than half the size of the Maultaschen, and that was €23.50. Otherwise, there was a lot of raw bacon, which was probably meant to compensate for the lack of meat in the Maultaschen. At least the side salad was good. Classic tourist rip-off, not recommended!

Three and a half stars. The room is beautiful, the garden only has shade. Prices are quite high, and the water I ordered never arrived. However, it was no problem getting two plates for a main course, and the pork knuckle was huge, soft, and delicious. The side dish was meh... the service was also meh. I wouldn't want to go back.

I'm giving one star for the good location in Heidelberg, and the others for the lovely ambiance. The friendly men at the entrance gave us hope that the brewery would be great...we were a group of five girls. The waitress, probably of Ukrainian descent, was so unpleasant and at times even unfriendly. She seemed professional in her actions, but you shouldn't let her loose on people! The food arrived what felt like two minutes later, which surprised us immensely! Unfortunately, the food looks better than it tastes! It wasn't a disaster, but for the price, we expected MUCH more! My recommendation is the spare ribs; they were really good! The veal schnitzel was unseasoned and tasteless!!! The coleslaw there had so much caraway, it was inedible!!!! A glass of Hugo costs 11 euros, with rotten mint leaves! 11 euros for a Hugo??? It didn't even taste of Hugo... we could have just ordered wine, it tasted like cheap wine with rotten mint!!!!!! A BEER GARDEN where you are NOT allowed to smoke also left us speechless. We sat outside in the great weather but quickly regretted it, smoking wasn't allowed anyway, the waitress in charge outside was bottomless and the flies were a PLAGUE. NEVER experienced anything like that before!!! A day later we were around the corner at the Schnitzelhaus, down-to-earth delicious and very cozy outside in the evening!!! The simple food was great and the service WOW...... dear Brauhaus, you could learn a thing or two from you, especially maybe ask for training or tips regarding the waitress because she was simply GREAT at the Schnitzelhaus, we felt totally at home because of her! We did not feel at home with you, that waitress was a nightmare!!!!!! NEVER AGAIN, especially thanks to your waitress!!! We were there on Friday September 20th, 2025 at 6 p.m. As a reminder for the waitress who is welcome to feel addressed!!!!

The food at the Kulturbrauerei is very good. We've tried a variety of things: appetizer platter, knuckle of pork, meat dishes, tiramisu, etc. The prices are a bit high. The beer is a shame; even if it's served in a mug, it's never really full. There's a lot of foam, and the contents are way below the standard. They should be more mindful of that with the prices! The staff is friendly. When it's full, it's very loud.

The first impression is that you've arrived in a building steeped in history. Overall, it's very harmoniously decorated. We were served promptly. The food was good value for money. We were very satisfied. The spaetzle, in particular, were excellent, and the portions were generous.

We were a group of 12 people at the restaurant – with advance reservations. At the reception, we repeatedly emphasized that we wanted to sit inside because it had been raining and was noticeably chilly. Nevertheless, we were seated outside without any instructions or escort. It seemed as if the restaurant had simply overtaken itself with reservations and was only concerned with filling all the seats somehow – even at the expense of the guest experience. There was obviously no room left inside – but no one honestly communicated this to us. The heaters weren't turned on until very late, when we were already freezing. Even afterward, it was uncomfortably cold outside. A seat change was never offered – no one seemed to care about the guests' well-being. The prices are extremely inflated for Heidelberg, the beer wasn't even poured to capacity, and the food was mediocre at best. Overall, disappointing: no hospitality, no service, no transparency. This was definitely my first and last visit.

Yesterday, after our girls' trip, nine of us went to the Kulturbrauerei Heidelberg for dinner with a table reservation. The atmosphere was OK, but the prices are a complete disgrace, especially for the white wine spritzer. In the glass there is a small drop of wine with another drop of water or lemonade, depending on whether you order sweet or sour, and the whole thing costs €7.90. I have no problem paying money for high-quality wines etc., but it is a complete disgrace to call two sips of wine a wine spritzer and then charge a hefty sum. I have eaten in much better atmospheres, but I have never been served such a disgrace, and when I complained, I was met with such flimsy chatter and my complaint was not addressed at all. A short while later, one of the staff members came over and, with a cheeky grin, poured some more wine into my glass. Another one of the nine of us, who also ordered a so-called wine spritzer, didn't get it; they just wanted to shut the unpleasant bitch up. Simply impossible. As I said, there were nine of us and at another friend's house the beer was stale and this was dismissed as it is, we just have to accept it. I wonder how this can happen in a time when the catering industry is dying out and lots of people don't go out to eat anymore because everything has become so expensive and people are holding on to their money. I really do like going out to eat and am happy to spend money on it, but I expect service and decent products and value for money. By the way, the toilets weren't clean either, the smell was very unpleasant and the toilet paper was empty. The food was good, so two stars, the rest would only be worth one.

Food was tip top but the service was extremely overwhelmed

A classic brewery with a large hall and a correspondingly lively atmosphere – loud, but that's exactly what a brewery should be. The food was absolutely convincing: every dish was a delight, fresh, hearty, and prepared with love. We were there with a group of 14 people, and everyone was absolutely thrilled. The service was prompt and friendly, and the drinks were in keeping with the brewery culture. If you enjoy a hearty atmosphere and good food, this is the place for you.

We visited the Kulturbrauerei Heidelberg today and were overall satisfied. The beer was excellent and definitely a highlight of the visit. The knuckle of pork, on the other hand, unfortunately didn't seem quite fresh and was a bit dry. This impression was reinforced by the fact that the food arrived less than five minutes after ordering. Very German, but cozy is something else entirely. The roast (ox cheeks) was solid, but the sauce was a bit too honey-dominated. The food came very quickly – almost too quickly. This gave it the impression of a fast-food restaurant, and the otherwise pleasant atmosphere didn't really come across to us. We can still recommend the Kulturbrauerei, especially for fans of good beer and uncomplicated brewery cuisine. However, those expecting refined cuisine or a cozy, extended dining experience should adjust their expectations somewhat.

If you want to come here at 12:15 on a Monday, you might be late for lunch. That's what happened to us, anyway. We were greeted with the words that something to eat would be available at 1:30. Okay, it was packed inside, but we were almost alone in the beer garden. If you can't accommodate that many people, why do you have so many? At least they had beer, and it was tasty. It arrived after 20 minutes. I immediately asked for the bill... but haven't seen any staff since (it's been 20 minutes now). The beer is long gone, and I'm still waiting. NEVER AGAIN!

An amazing place, where you really feel the atmosphere of Heidelberg and the German hospitality.

The restaurant is very nice, the food was delicious, fresh, and well-prepared. The beer was excellent. The service was also excellent. There was a mix-up with two dishes, and they immediately swapped them.

We had the käsespätzle and pork knuckle, and a beer and riesling. All wonderful, speedy service, nice garten.

First-class German cuisine. I had a wonderful Sauerbraten with a flavorful sauce and homemade shaved spaetzle. The home-brewed beer is spicy and delicious. You can sit outside among historic buildings in Heidelberg's old town. It's located just off the beaten track and is highly recommended.

As someone who lives in Germany, I received unimaginably good service. My husband's eyes were a bit sore, so I had to hold a cold bottle in his eyes, and the waiter brought him some ice in a napkin. Restaurant Visit Today, August 13, 2025, we visited the restaurant as a group of 29 people for dinner. It must be said that the food was delicious. However, the wait staff were EXTREMELY UNFRIENDLY. It started with orders being mixed up. They even placed water on the table without asking, even though it hadn't been ordered. It was made to look like it was free. Then they wanted to charge €6 per bottle. Orders for large and small beers were mixed up, and then they tried to trick guests by overcharging for beer. Pure tourist rip-off!!! A female server insulted the guests. She was simply rude and apparently generally unhappy that there were guests. Another waiter brought the food to the table stacked on top of each other but not separated, so that one plate sat on top of the food in the plate below. Overall, the service damaged the restaurant's reputation, and guests have dissatisfied memories of the restaurant. The second star was only given for the good food. The staff didn't deserve a star.

I decided to go there following the positive reviews I found on this restaurant. The terrace was very pleasant on a nice summer day. I took "Sauerbraten Ochsenbacken" and a draft beer. I was very disappointed to find that there was almost no meat in the dish, but mostly some gelatinous substance. This is not acceptable for a meal which costs 27 euros. The red cabbage and the spaetzle, as well as the beer were good. When I wanted to start eating, I noticed that on all the empty tables there were only knives and no forks, so I had to get up and ask for one. Then, there were so many flies, likely attracted by the flowers on the table, that it was impossible to eat peacefully, without waving the hands over the plate every 3 seconds. A disappointing and expensive experience. I don't recommend this place. There are better places to eat in the beautiful town of Heidelberg.

We invited a couple of friends to dinner at the Kulturbrauerei. We had boiled beef, knuckle of pork, roast beef, and salads. Unfortunately, none of it was particularly good. The knuckle of pork was so tough it was almost impossible to break your teeth (I left it alone). With a little sauce, it might have been easier to swallow, but there were only five drops of it on the plate. The roast beef was also quite dry and had very little flavor (it stayed there). Only the boiled beef was edible. We were sitting outside, and as soon as the food arrived, we were attacked by flies. It's not the waiters' fault, but they could solve the problem by simply setting up a few fans. After the meal, the waiter asked us if we didn't like the food. We gave him exactly the same answer as described here. His reply was, "Sometimes it's like that." You couldn't give a more stupid answer. No "I'm sorry" or "I'm sorry"... none of that. The Kulturbrauerei thrives on the many tourists who stop by. The motto seems to be, they won't come back anyway. It's a shame, because that's the kind of attitude that generates these reviews.

We arrived yesterday after 21:00 and a waitress kindly took us to the table after acknowledging we were 11 people. Once she came back in and spoke to someone else, they decided they had no time to serve us and invented the rule that the kitchen closes at 21:00 (the closing times online are listed as 21:30 and clearly the first person did not know this rule...). Clearly someone did not want to have the minimum chance of going home a little bit later...

We were a group of eight people on Saturday. It was very crowded because that evening was also the Heidelberg Castle Illumination. All the staff were very friendly and attentive. The food was delicious! We'll definitely be back.

I visited this place for the first time in December 2024. It was a 4 star experience. Good food, good house beer, good service. But then I came back in May 2025. My experience was totally different. The food was mediocre, and the beer (what happened?) was terrible. Above all, the person who served my table was NOT polite — and that's what annoyed me the most. Why not polite? Two examples: 1) Impatience while we were deciding what to order. 2) Impatience when we were paying. We had to split the account, so a little math was necessary. Even worse, there was a problem with a credit card, and we had to use other card. And the staff member looking at us, showing a HUGE discomfort, a bad face. The staff member said: "I have other tables to attend." Oh, great, so polite! It's a business. If we had to make more math, or try other cards, it would be their obligation to keep a nice attitude in favor of clients.

The reception staff were super friendly and thoughtful. Thank you! The room was okay. The unexpected bathtub in the bathroom was great. Unfortunately, my room (room 10) was directly above the restaurant, and the restaurant is open late. That's generally okay. However, if you have to get up early the next day, sleep might be a bit difficult. Honestly, I wouldn't want to sleep here again. I didn't get a chance to try the restaurant.

First, the positives: The location is really nice, and the beer is also very good. The rooms are generally okay. But who needs a dusty bathtub with a rickety shower partition in a hotel room? It's hardly usable for older seniors, in any case. The food is okay, with a hefty "Heidelberg surcharge" for the price. Good food can cost money, no question. This is over the top (and not just in my opinion). Now things get rather unpleasant: There were still some hairs in our bathroom that definitely didn't belong to us. In another room, 14(!) spiders were collected (dead and alive). There were still crumbs from the previous evening on the breakfast table and chairs. The restaurant restroom was in the same condition as the night before until about 9 a.m. The cleaning crew was still busy mopping the restaurant when breakfast began. To top it all off, on the last evening, they tried, in a rude tone, to force me to pay for drinks I had already paid for. Luckily, the corresponding receipt was still on the table. The waiter didn't apologize. Fun fact: Unfortunately, the establishment, which advertises over 400 seats, wasn't able to serve a pre-booked group of 30 people from the menu. Strangely enough, this works perfectly for groups that show up spontaneously. In summary: Unfortunately, expectations and reality are far from aligned here. A generous 2 stars for the location.

Last Friday, I went to this brewery full of enthusiasm to try all the beers. I asked for a tasting of three beers. The waitress told me that a tasting of three beers costs €12. I ordered the tasting. To my great surprise, I got three glasses of different beers, but each glass contained less than 10 centiliters of beer. So, I paid €12 for less than 30 centiliters of beer. If I had ordered three half-liters of the three different beers, I would have paid €14.40 for 1.5 liters of beer. I told the waitress that I wasn't willing to pay €12 for three sips of beer. She replied that this was the price for a tasting. I called the manager and ended up getting a half-liter of beer. So, in the end, I had three glasses of sips of beer and a half-liter of beer for €12! I feel very ripped off and definitely don't advise true beer lovers to drink beer here! Far too expensive and the beer was undrinkable! A major failure for this fake brewery.

Beautiful beer garden. A very good menu, fitting for the brewery. I can recommend the knuckle of pork. The staff is highly motivated, very friendly, and very pleasant. Reservations are essential; it's very popular.

It's all about the brewery. The beer is delicious! The service was great at first, but then they didn't understand us. This isn't our first time at the brewery; the beer is excellent, but today we wanted to eat. We ordered asparagus and potatoes separately for two people from the seasonal menu. The portion cost €28 (since we saw that the portion was very large for the two of us), schnitzel, and dorado. In the end, we were each brought a portion of asparagus with potatoes, which added up to €28 each for each of us, not including the fish and schnitzel. We told the waitress what we had ordered: a portion of potatoes with asparagus, fish, and schnitzel. She said that was impossible. And not before ordering, but after. We were disappointed; we paid €43 for each dish. We asked if we could take the leftover asparagus and potatoes with us. Is it impossible to order everything separately? We got €109 for four beers and two hot dishes, which we weren't expecting.

We are a wonderful lunch here during a Viking cruise down the Rhine. The salad was among the best I have ever had, and the chicken with mushrooms was outstanding! Great family style tables where we were able to sit with a large group from our ship. The wait staff was attentive, and the whole experience very rewarding. (My wife calls this the best meal we had during our 2 weeks in Europe!) Highly recommended.

The beer garden impresses with its cozy atmosphere and at the same time offers a retreat – a "safe space" – for anyone seeking a little peace and quiet. Our small dog was also warmly welcomed and was able to relax under the table, which we found to be extremely pet-friendly. The culinary delights impressed us across the board. The food was excellent – ​​we had asparagus with potatoes, creamy cheese spaetzle, and a flavorful appetizer accompanied by some of the best bread we've ever eaten. The quality of the ingredients was outstanding; everything seemed fresh and homemade – you can taste it! The beer was also a delight and rounded off the evening perfectly. In times of rising costs, we fully understand that good quality comes at a price – and here, every euro was well spent. We will definitely be back and can only warmly recommend this restaurant!

The Viennese schnitzel was fantastic. I recommend it. The Wurst felt homemade and fresh. The prices are correct. From three main courses, a beer, some bottled water and cola we payed 81 euro.

The prices for food are getting worse and worse. 20€ for a small portion of cheese spaetzle and a small side salad is a cheek. You can drink very well here and at attractive prices. Food is very expensive!!!

For me it's always worth a visit, the food is of high quality and simply very tasty. The staff is always friendly and the home-brewed beer with special beers is simply delicious at any time of the year. Always happy to come back.

Das Essen und der Service waren super! Hier haben wir nichts auszusetzen. Auch das Frühstück war genau richtig. Wir hatten nicht reserviert für einen Tisch am Abend. Trotzdem wurde es möglich gemacht, das wir einen Tisch zum Abendessen erhielten. Auch das an das Restaurant angeschlossene Hotel war gut und es gab keine Kritik. Das Zimmer hatte alles was es brauchte und war sehr sauber. Zum Hotel gehört noch eine Garage, die man mitbuchen sollte, da es in der Altstadt keine Parkplätze gibt. Diese ist recht klein und man sollte vorher im Hotel nachfragen ob das entsprechende Auto hineinpasst. Auf der Honrpage des Hotels sind die Maße hinterlegt.

Based on a recommendation, we ended the day there after the castle tour. Trout on asparagus vegetables with boiled potatoes and my husband grandma's beef roulade with red cabbage and spaetzle. The room itself is actually impressive with the high ceilings, the mural and the chandeliers, unfortunately ruined by too much artificial flower nonsense. The Scheffels beer Kräusen really tastes great. The beef roulade was good and plentiful, the trout itself and the potatoes were good, the Mediterranean asparagus with garlic and some woody green asparagus was absolutely nothing. We also found the many questions from the many service staff annoying, especially since the criticism was not addressed.

I chose this restaurant based on other reviews and really liked the atmosphere, the typical German food and the beer. The service is also very good, it's worth a visit!

today he tried to buy a few glasses of beer in an establishment owned by the father of the honorable Mr. Yorsh Jr., but it turned out that his son's business strategy is based solely on personal grievances. it so happened that a few months ago I was an employee of this institution and when some disagreements began between me and the honorable Mr. Yorsh Jr. regarding the delay of my salary and non-payment of it in full, I, in order to influence the honorable Mr. Yorsh Jr., wrote a negative comment to his institution on the current platform. and was unpleasantly surprised, because it turned out to be the only lever capable of influencing the venerable Mr. Yorsh the Younger. after I was unfairly paid in one payment for the volume of work that was performed for two months (which is strange, because it requires two separate payments according to German law), I agreed to delete the negative comment and initially even wrote a positive one, which included praise for the cuisine of this establishment and some warm words about the local beer. later, after weighing all the benefits I received from this organization, I decided to delete this comment as well. so, after visiting this luxurious establishment today, I found that the memory of Mr. Yorsch Jr. and Reverend holds only unspeakable resentment for the negative comments that turned out to be the only way to communicate after he blocked me on all possible messengers. so he kicked me out of this wonderful institution, backed up by rude questions about whether I could think at all. that's why I'm giving this place a two-star rating, after initially giving it five stars for the incredible beer, amazing food, and wonderful staff, and removing three stars for the honorable Mr. Yorsh Jr.'s attitude and approach to guest service. it is very regrettable and difficult to make such a decision, taking into account the comparison of this institution with the Catholic Church, which Mr. Yorsh Jr. I would give the Catholic Church the highest rating

Very friendly staff. Rooms clean and large. The food and wine were very tasty and the breakfast was rich, but still a bit too expensive. A small defect was that the bathtub grab handle was loose. The hotel was in the middle of the old town and everything was within walking distance. A clear recommendation.

Very unfriendly staff, condescending and abrupt. The food and drinks are standard German fare, but they are very overpriced. Not recommended; there are better alternatives in Heidelberg.
