Shijō in Würzburg

We went out for dinner with the family today and had a rather mixed experience overall. The ramen soup had way too many noodles, even though I had asked for less at the beginning. Even that was still too much. We mainly wanted to come for the sake, but it wasn't available – even though it's considered the restaurant's highlight. Unfortunately, there was no other digestif to choose from. The food itself was generally tasty, but the server left the ready-made cocktails on the counter for far too long, so they lost their fizz. The sushi was okay, but nothing special. All in all, it was alright, but I probably won't be going back anytime soon.

A small, beautifully decorated restaurant. Reservations are definitely recommended. The staff is very friendly and attentive. The menu includes sushi and ramen. It might not sound like much, but they truly excel at it. No matter what you order, it tastes world-class. The ramen is absolutely delicious. Insider tip!: Order a lemon soda. Highly recommended!

The sushi was perfect. A few other options for the main course would be nice. The restaurant wasn't very full, yet our food (for two people) didn't arrive at the same time.

We got a reservation for the same day and were greeted and served very warmly. We had appetizers, ramen, and sushi, all freshly prepared and incredibly delicious! We'll definitely be back, even though it's a 45-minute drive. It's really worth it!

Wow! Just wow! A cozy dinner for two at Shijō? A fantastic idea! First off: The price for an appetizer, main course, and drink is around €25-30. The main courses themselves (the highlight) are all in the €10-20 range. So, very reasonable prices. Food: I had soy-based ramen with pork, and my companion had a selection of different sushi, plus gyoza and fried chicken as an appetizer. The ramen was amazing!! Very tasty noodles, a good selection of vegetables in the soup. (The delicious mushrooms deserve special mention, but I've forgotten their name). The soup was actually the best part. Because the pork partially dissolved into the soup, you felt full just from slurping/drinking it. I actually couldn't finish it all, which almost never happens to me with other dishes. The various sushi were also very tasty and particularly stood out due to their unusual variations :) The gyoza were delicious, but I would advise against the fried chicken. It was one large block instead of being nicely sliced. Service: Attentive and friendly. They checked on us several times to make sure everything was alright. No complaints. Atmosphere: Very appealing. Beautiful wood design, a blend of simple Japanese style and chic. All in all, it was a very enjoyable and delicious visit, and I will definitely return.

I ordered this restaurant's shoyu paitan ramen on the wolt app. I can't understand the positive reviews about this place. It didn't taste like Japanese food at all, and it was so rich I couldn't finish it. It had ramen ingredients, but it smelled like Chinese food. It was completely indecipherable. Is this what Europeans think of Japanese cuisine? I couldn't leave a proper review on wolt, and since the information (address, menu, etc.) on wolt is identical to this place, I'm leaving a review here. If the shijo on wolt is different from this place, please leave a comment.

We were at Shijo with seven people (ages 14-73). Food Simply fantastic. We had vegetable gyoza and chicken karaage as appetizers. Everyone was especially impressed with the sauce that accompanied the karaage. For my main course, I had ramen (shoyu/paitan). A very generous portion with toppings, just as you would expect. Extremely delicious and highly recommended. Atmosphere The restaurant has a lovely ambiance and doesn't have too many seats. Reservations are highly recommended.

I ordered ramen with fried chicken. It came with pork ramen and an extra fried chicken on a plate...

Was looking forward to this but unfortunately the vegan ramen was pretty ordinary and oily. There are a selection of other vegetarian options, but not a great variety. Didn’t try any of the sushi/nigiri which could have been a safer choice.

We had a really lovely evening at Shijō! The atmosphere was warm and cozy. Perfect for dining on a rainy, cold night. The ramen was simply the best we've had so far. We'd love to come back!

My absolute favorite restaurant. The best ramen in town, and the sushi is also excellent and beautifully presented. A lovely Japanese atmosphere and friendly staff.

Delicious ramen, friendly service, would go back anytime

I've been there three times so far for ramen! The first time, it was very tasty, but after that, it's been a bit lacking. The broth wasn't very flavorful, and the noodles were very thin (almost glass noodles), which doesn't suit the ramen. On the other hand, they serve two eggs and a large portion.

Very tasty, but unfortunately not authentically Japanese (e.g., onions in the broth). But really delicious, and the portions were also very large. The appetizers and drinks were delicious! 🍲

The noodles were fried in a generous amount of oil, which significantly diminished their flavor. The oil was overwhelming, unfortunately obscuring the distinct flavors of the ingredients. In the Netherlands, much less oil is typically used, so I was quite disappointed. The duck breast, however, was flavorful and deliciously crispy, and the soup beforehand was also delicious and had a good consistency.

There were two of us here, and we both had ramen. It was incredibly delicious, and the service was super friendly.

Shijo is part of Madame Nguyen's restaurant, but the service and ambiance are much better here. The sushi is quite good, and the ramen is okay, but not like real ramen.

A very good restaurant with top-notch service. Everything is freshly prepared; highly recommended. Reservations are definitely recommended, as seating is quite limited.

The atmosphere is very cozy and the food is extremely authentic. It tastes like Japan. Every time I was there, the waitress seemed a bit overwhelmed. However, everything was resolved amicably. I've already made a reservation for my next visit and am looking forward to it.

This was my first time here, and I was more than pleasantly surprised. Friendly service, attractive decor, delicious food. I can't judge whether it's authentic. I can recommend it with a clear conscience.

The food is of impeccable quality. The service was chaotic, unfriendly and completely disinterested. After 90 minutes we were turned away from the table because new guests were already “waiting”. Absolute impudence. We had a dinner date with business friends. That was beyond embarrassing. If you work in multiple table times, you should spell this out clearly and that is exactly not the case. Ergo: never here again!

Ordered something from shijō for the first time today. We were not disappointed and were very enthusiastic. We also found it very good that the filling was not included in the broth but was delivered separately.

We wanted to eat ramen in Würzburg and came across Shijo. That was the best decision. The food was very tasty and the service was also great. Very attentive and friendly staff.

It was our first time eating there and we loved it. Very nice restaurant! The food is incredibly delicious. Never had ramen so good!! We live 1 hour away from Würzburg and we would ONLY come back because of the restaurant!!

The food itself was good, I had the Shio ramen with chintan broth. The broth was described as strong, but it wasn't very flavorful in itself. The gyoza itself was quite tasty, the service was friendly, but overall it was average, especially for the price.

We had made a reservation a week in advance and traveled specifically from Munich. Apparently the restaurant overbooked and wanted to sit us (3 people) at a small table for two in the middle of the passage. An absolute no-go and disgrace! Not a word of apology! Never again!!!

Their own homemade noodle was super fresh with chewy texture and the soup base was unbelievably delectable. The best Ramen I had (personal opinion). I would recommend anybody who wants to taste the good food.

We were there on Saturday without a reservation and were fortunately able to get a spot. You can choose from sushi, a variety of delicious appetizers and ramen. Vegan dishes are available and labeled. I find the number pleasant. The service was extremely friendly and accommodating, fast service and the most important thing - really tasty food. As we learned at the next table, you can vary the composition of the dishes to your heart's content. Overall, a real recommendation. I recommend making reservations on the weekend to be on the safe side.

Very good shop. Food great, atmosphere great. The noodles were a bit too soft for my taste and would like more bok Choi and other content than so many noodles.

Ordered today from Shijo via Wolt. Well what can I say, order vegan ramen, spring rolls and sushi. I got ramen with pork and egg, and spring rolls were also missing. Only the sushi was right. I will avoid the store immediately.

My friends ordered sushi and thought it was great. I had ramen, which unfortunately wasn't to my liking. We have to wait about an hour for our food, the drinks didn't come quickly either, the waiting time was about 25 minutes, even though the shop wasn't full. The waitresses weren't very friendly, neither of them. You could be a little nicer to your guests.

I enjoyed the ramen a lot. The portion was massive but full of flavor, which helped me a lot to deal with the cold weather. It was my first time trying veggie sushi, and I was pleasantly surprised. The service was stunning and the staff speak English.

So good that I went back for a second night. Lovely welcoming service. Great cocktails- the lychee one was delish. It was super super busy on my first night but everything arrived quickly. And the salmon sushi (the Naomi) was next level amazing. Highly recommend this place. But maybe make a reservation - it’s popular.

My girlfriend and I love Asian food. While looking for a ramen restaurant, we came across “Shijo” and agreed relatively quickly that we wanted to eat there. We drove an extra 50km 🙈 But it was really worth it. The conditions were super polite, the atmosphere was really nice and inviting. As for the food, I really have to say that it was my best ramen so far! Absolute recommendation 10/10, definitely again.

This was our first time at Shijo. The restaurant is very nicely decorated and gives a nice Japanese vibe. For starters the gyoza with meat were very tasty. Plus the homemade iced tea. Mega! The ramen for the main course was gigantic! Very tasty, fresh and versatile. This is exactly how you want your ramen! The service was also very attentive and tried very hard to fulfill all wishes. We'll be back!

The Shijō has modern furnishings and the ambience is very nice. The food was tasty, but not super special. For the drink I ordered the Shijo Yuzu lemonade as I love yuzu. However, it hardly tasted like that, but rather like passion fruit. As a starter I ordered summer rolls with vegetables (No.4), crispy, tasty, but very greasy and unfortunately a bit cold. No. 601-tuna sushi and No. 605a-tempura shrimp and salmon on top. Both were very tasty. The service… a nice guy who served alone in the restaurant on Friday evening. Price-performance is completely within the framework. ☺️

Despite the almost empty restaurant, they acted as if a lot of things were reserved and sat us next to the cloakroom. The good seats remained empty. The food is absolutely disproportionate to the prices.

The ambience is very nice, but toilets don't seem well maintained and were dirty - that's not a highlight. Reservation online was easy. Lemonades were very tasty - unfortunately we only had one drink each because the service was overwhelmed and we were sitting in a corner that was probably inconvenient for his attention. The food was good, but not outstanding. The main course only arrived 20 minutes before the end of the reservation (a reservation is valid for 90 minutes), and even though we were there 10 minutes earlier, fortunately there was no other reservation for our table.

After the reservation was a bit bumpy, the end result was fantastic. The food was sensational for both the eye and the palate. You sit in a nice atmosphere and are simply happy. The price/performance ratio is appropriate.

I was really looking forward to the store. Well rated according to Google, the pictures looked like good ramen, here we go. Reserved, arrived - wow. What a beautiful and lovingly furnished shop, first checkbox ticked - can only be a good thing here. We ordered appetizers and although they were pretty nice, the first warning signal went off. Some of the decorative salad was a bit brown, so it was old. Then please... no decorations?! .. Well, since the appetizers were delicious, we were looking forward to the ramen! Tadaa, I had shoyu ramen with paitan broth. This is described as strong and intense and also costs the most. Unfortunately, my ramen was a complete disaster. I've never left food out, but with the best will in the world I couldn't eat it. The noodles were not only overcooked, but mushy. The broth only tasted like fat and there was definitely a 5 mm thick layer of fat on the soup. At first I wanted to convince myself that this is what the broth should taste like, but sorry no, that just wasn't okay. It wasn't any aromatic oil or anything, just excessive and therefore disgusting animal fat - apart from pasta paste and fat you didn't taste anything, so adding soy sauce didn't help either. I then complained. Not an apology, but thank you for my honesty. I don't know if that was a blatant slip-up, but when I said "no" after asking if everything was good, the waitress immediately said "probably the noodles are too soft"... So sorry, but if you know that , why are you putting it out there like that?! A real shame.

Ramen and homemade iced tea were worth every cent. Nice interior and nice staff. Unfortunately, the noodles have become thinner and the broth has become weaker. Will have to look for another restaurant.

Nice, rather smaller ramen restaurant with lots of appetizers and sushi. You can reserve online without any problems. The food was very tasty. I had Shoyu Ramen with Paitan broth, baked chicken and a large lichee juice. Everything cost €25 including the tip. I would budget €20-30 per person including drinks and tips.

Service 1 with star. Super nice and courteous waiter who kept an eye on whether anything else was needed. He recommended the menu for 3 if you have humger 😄 The two of us then had the menu for 3 people and were super full Ingredients fresh and juicy with taste! Lots of fish and great highlights like salmon tartare and tuna tartare. Also caviar and dressed avocado with fresh radish and a little rocket. We'll definitely come back. Price performance is completely okay

The taste of the ramen is changed a lot. I saw just now the other reviews and i recognize it wasn’t a mistake from that day. But a long time problem. And also the broth tasted only like veggie and some chicken. It was very light and sweet. Even I ordered chicken and pork broth. It’s was satisfying. The waitress told me she will mention it to the kitchen. But it seems not went well. Here was my favorite ramen restaurant bit totally disappointed. And the Miso Sake was also not like original. It shouldn’t be a soup. And should be much thicker. Ha.. I wasted my time and money

Hello dear shijō team, We came spontaneously today and really wanted to try out your store. Of course we knew that it was a little unrealistic that it would work on a Friday evening at prime time, but after all you can try, right? I was totally shocked about dealing with two walk ins. Just calling over 5 tables “reserved?” has nothing to do with hospitality. After our answer that we didn't do that, simply turning away and muttering "that's not possible" was just ignorant. I value complete sentences and can live with any rejection that is communicated to me with dignity. Fortunately, an exceptional experience in Würzburg.

The starters were delicious. Unfortunately, the ramen wasn't very convincing. The soup was rather thin.

Die Einrichtung des Restaurants ist sehr gelungen und gemütlich. Die Ramen sind lecker, aber nicht überragend. Es gibt mehrere Brühen, Soja- & Salzbasis sowie einige ergänzende Einlagen zur Auswahl, wobei bereits im Standard-Ramen mehrere enthalten sind. Die Portionsgrößen ist durchschnittlich. Bei mir waren die Ramen leider etwas überkocht. Das Sushi war überdurchschnittlich. Die Service-Qualität hängt stark vom jeweiligen Mitarbeiter ab: Manche sind freundlich und zuvorkommend, andere leider teilnahmslos und kurz angebunden, selbst wenn nur wenige Tische besetzt sind. Je später man kommt, desto eher ist eine Reservierung dringend erforderlich.

The ramen wasn’t the right kind; the noodles were cut much shorter and had an unpleasant taste. It was extremely disappointing considering the price. On the bright side, the sushi was good, but I wouldn’t recommend ordering the ramen. The service wasn’t great either.
