Shi - The Pleasure of Asia Cuisine - Köln in Köln

We were there on a Saturday evening, and despite having a reservation for 5:45 p.m., we didn't get our table until 6:15 p.m. It took another 45 minutes to order, and even then, it took over 30 minutes for the food to arrive – despite asking several times. The table looked like it had been hastily brought in from outside, and we had to wait a long time again to pay. For a restaurant in this location, right next to several concert venues, the entire management was completely unprepared. The food was also disappointing: the fried noodles were more like something you'd get at a Chinese takeout place. Furthermore, there was only one restroom for women and people with disabilities, while men had four or five – completely unacceptable.

I recently visited the SHI restaurant and would like to share my experience. The Peking soup as a starter was truly delicious and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The main course, duck, was the best I've had in a long time – highly recommended! One minor drawback was the passion fruit spritzer, which was served in a bottle but with an empty glass. That wasn't ideal. I also found it somewhat unpleasant that two of the three chefs were smoking outside when I entered the restaurant. In the open kitchen, one chef even briefly stood on the counter to do something with the extractor hood, which didn't seem very hygienic. Unfortunately, the service wasn't optimal either. The friendly waitress seemed more preoccupied with her mobile phone than with serving the guests. Overall, the food was really good, but these issues slightly marred the experience. I might return, but I hope for improvements in service and hygiene.

A very nice restaurant. The service was friendly and the food excellent. Unfortunately, there are some drawbacks because after we took our initial order and the food and drinks were served, there was no further service. And the real problem was the women's restroom, which also serves as the disabled toilet. The toilet was quite unhygienic and soiled with urine. I pointed this out to the waiter and received the response: "Oh, I'm sorry, the cleaning lady didn't come." That's completely unacceptable.

Picking up the order in person was a nightmare. The wait times were incredibly long, even though the app said it was ready. The portions were too small and too expensive. The value for money is questionable.

We visited this restaurant for lunch before attending the TV Total recording. We really enjoyed the atmosphere. The food was delicious and served promptly by the friendly staff. We also found the prices very reasonable for the good quality. We would definitely visit again.

A disappointing restaurant. The food isn't particularly good.

We left yesterday at 5.30pm and had to order our food and drinks over the phone because the staff completely ignored us. We had to wait an hour until we finally got something to drink. I ordered a large bottle of sparkling water and they delivered a large bottle of water with Kraneberger. When I asked, they said they had run out of sparkling water and that they had run out of medicine and still water either. It would have been the most expensive Kraneberger (7.50) if I hadn't said anything. Several guests were apparently completely disappointed to have to wait so long for drinks and food that they canceled everything and left the shop loudly. After asking several times, we finally got the main course at 7.20pm and after asking several times, we only got the wrong one. The whole order was completely wrong. When we ordered a vegan dish with egg from the large duck, they made a small one. When we had finished the main course, which we practically wolfed down, it was around 7:50 p.m. when the starters arrived, which we then canceled. The waiter was apparently used to such poor service and handled it without any problems. The food tasted okay, but the service was truly disappointing. An Asian group who arrived much, much later were given priority. They already had food and drinks, while we didn't even have drinks yet. We will avoid this place in the future and can only warmly recommend that everyone do the same.

We wanted something to eat before a concert. Unfortunately, after waiting 30 minutes and asking, they only offered drinks. After waiting for over an hour and asking repeatedly, the food never arrived. Instead, we opted for the quick alternative next door, Five Guys. Not recommended.

Don't go unless you're patient and willing to wait an hour for a glass of beer.

We went to Shi today and had dinner there. It was absolutely delicious! From the manager to the other employees, everyone is super polite, friendly, and child-friendly. They offer high chairs for the little ones, and there are blankets for outside if you get cold. The service is truly first-class. I highly recommend this restaurant; it's rare to experience such kind and warm service.

There were two of us at the restaurant. Overall, we enjoyed it, and everything was very tasty and fresh. In our opinion, the service could be improved somewhat. We ordered two Cokes, two soups as starters, and two different main courses. The restaurant wasn't full, only the outdoor area was busy. We had to wait 25 minutes for our soups; drinks weren't served until they were on the table. When the soup was cleared, we were told the main course would be coming soon. Well, 30 minutes after the soup was cleared, the main course arrived. That was a shame, because by then we were completely full, and we could only eat half of our meal at most. Takeout wasn't an option, as we were on our way to a concert. Conclusion: tasty, but not good if you have other plans. I wouldn't order a starter again unless I went straight to dessert and skipped the main course.

My husband and I had lunch here yesterday. The service was actually good, and we enjoyed the food. However, my husband and I didn't feel good after eating, and it continued the next day :( We didn't feel well the next day either, which indicates that the food wasn't good. My husband said that the place, and especially the manager, seemed unhygienic, as he was outside smoking every 10 minutes. That's not proof in itself, but... Unfortunately, I can only agree with the other comment; it seems like there's chaos here when it comes to hygiene. Not recommended!

The modern and friendly design of the restaurant is worth mentioning. Overall, however, the negative impressions outweigh the positives.

Food is good, had Thai chicken curry. No wifi password for customer available even though there is a guest network available. Beware of the lady waitress, who was quick to press 10% tips for herself before you swiped the card for payment

I ordered food from this restaurant via Liferando. I had the vegetarian noodle soup, a vegetarian spring roll, and a summer roll with avocado. The soup wasn't seasoned at all, but after I added soy sauce and chili, it was good. The spring roll was also okay. The summer roll came with two sauces. One was okay, but the other smelled like it had been sitting outside too long and had gone moldy. The summer roll itself didn't taste good either. I didn't eat it. There was also a very old lettuce leaf in it, as you can see. Unfortunately, I can't recommend it.

We wanted to go out for a spontaneous meal on Saturday evening and found Shi. Since the weather was nice, we found a seat outside. Our dog was warmly welcomed and water was provided. The menu was plentiful, with all sorts of delicious options. We opted for a salad with strips of beef, the appetizer platter, and summer rolls. The service was prompt, and the food arrived very quickly. The drinks, price, and food were all completely satisfactory.

Absolutely unbelievable as I found a small piece of GLASS in my plate that I reported to the waitress. I thought it was a plastic piece, but even worse it was a piece of glass. How can this happen in a restaurant? This is shocking and I’m speechless. I hope the owners will do something about it.

❌ Unhygienic and disrespectful – never again! We visited Shi – The Pleasure of Asian Cuisine in Cologne and were horrified to see one of the chefs not wash his hands after using the restroom and then proceed to prepare food. I immediately reported this to the service staff and asked to speak to the manager. Instead of understanding, I received horrified looks and almost had to justify myself – an apology never came! The manager was called several times, but didn't show up for hours. After waiting for over three hours, we left disappointed. Of course, I didn't want to accept my food under these circumstances. The staff's reaction was unprofessional, and hygiene was a serious problem. We definitely won't be coming back.

I enjoyed my meal there – the service was slow (I had to wait a long time for the food and to pay), but my spring roll was delicious. For my main course, I had fried shi rice with tofu – also very tasty (except for the tofu pieces – they had absolutely no taste). The atmosphere is very pleasant – I would go again.

The taste is completely bland, so tasteless and neutral that it's simply not worth a visit. The tofu is just fried lumps, a complete joke. Waiting time was about 20.25 minutes despite the store being empty. Prices are above the average Thai restaurant. Conclusion: leave this place alone. Soup without broth is tasteless, I don't know, but I usually go to another Thai restaurant on Bonnerstrasse and the difference is immense. The atmosphere is okay, but otherwise I can't say anything positive.

I was there in April. The food is really very good. The service is horrible. We sat outside and wanted to order something after eating. After repeatedly asking the staff, no one came to us. We had to go inside to order something else. When our food was brought to us, we immediately said that we wanted to pay. After about half an hour, no one came. We waited for about a quarter of an hour. I then took the menu to work out how much I had to pay. I then put the total of around €60 without tip on the table and left. From a distance I could see that the waiter was looking after us. I can understand that you have to wait up to 15 minutes when it's busy, but an hour between one order and the next and another hour for the bill... who knows how long that would have taken... It's a real shame, because the food and the atmosphere are very good.

Far too much fried food, resulting in too many calories in the food. We had hoped for more, as East Asian food is considered healthy and calorie-conscious. The breading was very thick and saturated with fat. We then dressed it up. Unfortunately, the waiters are apparently poorly paid, because none of them knew the WiFi password and no one was willing to ask and tell us. Overall, it was too expensive for that.

The soup was cold, the service was small and the waiter was rude, the food was dry and tasteless. In general, I wouldn't recommend it.

Actually a nice shop, good location and nice to sit in. The food was actually very good, if you didn't have to wait an hour at a table that wasn't clean. Service was absolutely crappy, no response even after speaking to the branch manager. I gave away 1 1/2 hours of my life and paid money for it. Definitely never again!

Went here again yesterday for lunch, the offer is good and it's on the plate quickly and it tastes good - what bothered me yesterday is that you want to pay with cash and it's a problem if you want to pay for just under 30 euros and the waitress doesn't have any change at first, sorry, optimal is different...

When we arrived the waitress said that it might take longer until we got the food but there was hardly anything going on. There were many tables full of dishes outside even though there were no guests present. They ran out of wine and the waitresses kept walking past the full tables with dishes. It wasn't a pretty sight when everything was full. The appetizer came With the main course, which was a shame. The sweet and sour sauce was totally watery. But the main course was very good. Dear team, when everyone clears the table straight away and doesn't run to the kitchen empty, things look completely different.

Unfortunately the food wasn't good for the price. The shi noodles were cheap and for hygiene reasons we had to exchange dirty dishes. Service was friendly and the atmosphere was nice.

The Asian restaurant has a simple and beautiful interior that creates a pleasant atmosphere. The waiter was nice and friendly, but unfortunately a bit sleepy - our ordered cocktail was only taken after the first one had already been served. The *Asia Basil Smash* didn't convince us with its price-performance ratio as it was too expensive for this quantity. The food was good, but our favorite Asian takeaway still makes it better in our opinion. Will we come again? 🤔 Maybe, but we're not sure yet.

The meal was worth every penny - the fried noodles with crispy chicken were the best I've ever tasted, and the duck was incredibly tender and very tasty. Everything was served quickly and the service was friendly and attentive. I was also impressed by the ambience: stylishly furnished, cozy and with a pleasant atmosphere. The homemade lemonades are a refreshing addition to the meal and round off the perfect taste experience. I recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves Asian cuisine!

We were very disappointed with the service today. Our area was constantly skillfully avoided and ignored. Some of the tables around us waited even longer than we did to even order. We asked three times for our main course and were put off by the kitchen. Only when we wanted to leave early after two hours did the dishes come flying out of the kitchen. The toilets, the hallway area and the tables were not cleaned or cleared away. You have lost us as customers. Sorry.

I recently visited Phi Restaurant and would like to share my positive experience. The staff were consistently friendly and accommodating, which made the visit very pleasant. The food was really tasty and we loved it. This was our second visit and this time we were there with small children. The atmosphere of the restaurant is nice and child-friendly, which is important for and. I would particularly like to highlight Elisha, who took excellent care of us. She was very helpful and made our stay even more pleasant. Overall, I can only recommend the Shi restaurant – it is definitely worth a visit!
