Mongo's Restaurant Köln in Köln

We had a wonderful culinary evening at Mongo's in Cologne Deutz and would recommend the restaurant again and again because of its ambience, the delicious fresh ingredients, the service and the concept idea. A special kind of culinary delight! Keep it up, we'll definitely be back!

Great service, delicious and varied food.

Es war von der Ambiente sehr schön.. Der Service war sehr bemüht und das Essen war auch gut.. Es war sehr voll und deshalb aber auch sehr laut und zum Nachbartisch sehr eng.. An sonsten aber zu empfehlen..

Erster Besuch im Mongos Köln, war schon in Essen und Dortmund. Diesmal eher enttäuschend. Tische stehen zu eng zusammen. Es war "zu" laut. Der Service war zwar freundlich, aber zu langsam bzw. zu wenig Personal für das volle Restaurant. Die Auswahl an Fleisch war überraschend gering im Vergleich zu meinen bisherigen Besuchen. Die Teriaki Marinade war geschmacksneutral und eher wässerig. Die Pangna Curry Marinade zu wenig, die monogs bbq gut, hat wegen der vielen Soja Soße wenig mit bbq zu tun, trotzdem lecker. Das meiste Fleisch war im food market noch gefroren.... Das liegt nicht daran, das es auf Eis steht, sondern zu spät aus dem freezer genommen wird. Wenn die Schüssel leerer wurde, war es aufgetaut. Es gab viel seefood und beim Fleisch Känguru, Strauss, Zebra, Huhn, Schwein, Rind. Auch als es leerer wurde dauerten Speisen, Getränke und Eis lange.....

Mega experience for the palate! The restaurant offers plenty of space for company celebrations, but is still furnished so that two people can have a comfortable conversation. The food: All you can eat for €29.50 with soup as a starter. You get a bowl and name one of over 10 different sauces. At the buffet you fill these with all sorts of fresh delicacies and then have them roasted and brought to the table. Everything goes pretty quickly. You can also order rice. Something special: There are insect triples: fried buffalo worms, crickets and grasshoppers, each in a small bowl with a few lettuce leaves on the side. Unusual, but surprisingly edible. The taste is comparable to over-fried and crispy kettle chips that taste a bit oily. Everything is crispy, nothing soft about it. Much better than expected. Another highlight: the buffet In addition to various Asian noodles, there is also seaweed, seaweed, salmon, shrimp, dorado, pangasius and as a special feature Moose, zebra, kangaroo and water buffalo The taste was delicious, although the kangaroo was a bit tough. Price-performance: top There is also a lot of choice for vegetarians, even a vegetarian all you can eat menu, which is a little cheaper. For Advent 2025, brunch starts at 11:30 a.m. and is free for children up to 6 years old.

Tolles Personal alle freundlich. Mal was anderes. Essen war auch ok

Es hat alles rundum gepasst. Sogar ein Sonderwunsch bei der Tischwahl wurde berücksichtigt. Das Essen war ausgezeichnet und die Bedienung inkl. des erst zwei Tage dort beschäftigten Mannes war sehr sympathisch und entgegenkommend. Besser gehts nicht. Herzlichen Dank für den durchweg gelungenen Rahmen bei Euch; und das in dieser Art schon seit Jahren. Richtig gut.

Delicious food that you should take some time with you. The concept is good, you pay once for the meal and can put together delicious Asian dishes as often as you like. Many different types of vegetables, fish and meat sometimes make the choice difficult. Overall very tasty and really recommended.

We have been coming here for 15 years and have always been very satisfied. Of course there were days when there was a lot going on and things didn't go so well, but we always felt well looked after and welcome. And that's one of the most important things to us while other system Mongolians put you in loud gyms with 0 personality (we like to say xiao) The only point of criticism is that our little one misses fries ;-) See you next time :-)

Nach über 10 Jahren mal wieder da gewesen, nett aber qualitativ gehts beim Asiaten um die Ecke deutlich besser‼️

Ein wunderschöner Abend als Einstimmung auf den "Elften im Elften" in der Kölnarena. Sehr leckeres Essen bei tollem Service und immer noch sehr gutem Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis. 100% Empfehlung.

Delicious food, stylishly decorated, nice service.

- Buffet Essen: lecker, große Auswahl, Qualität immer gleichbleibend gut! - Selbstgemachte Getränke wie Limo, Cocktails: sehr lecker - Ambiente: gut, etwas laut, allerdings auch stark ausgelastet was die Sitzplätze anging - Service: leider der größte Punktabzug. Die für unseren Tisch zuständige Kraft hat uns vergessen/ignoriert…wir wissen es nicht. Auch nachdem sie mutmaßlich von einer vorgesetzten Kraft eine „Ansage“ erhalten hat, hat sich dies nicht gebessert. Stattdessen halfen uns aber alle anderen Kolleg:innen freundlich und zügig aus, wenn wir diese ansprachen. Der Service in der Küche kam nur bedingt hinterher, sodass wir letztendlich in ca. 2 Stunden nur drei Schälchen zubereitet bekommen haben. Mengentechnisch war dies auch ausreichend; wir hätten nur, bei schnellerer Zubereitung, deutlich früher wieder abreisen können. Hier spielt allerdings auch nochmal die zuvor benannte Servicekraft mit rein, sodass wir nach Einnahme des Tisches nach 15 Minuten ohne jegliche Kontaktaufnahme selbständig bezüglich der Bestellung nachfragten. Insgesamt: empfehlenswert, zumal wir es, was den Service betrifft, die letzten Male auch besser kennengelernt hatten.

I’ve tried many different kinds of meat here, including zebra and a stinky fish (which I actually found good). The chef stir-fries the ingredients you select with the sauce of your choice, turning it into Mongolian-style stir-fried meat. You can switch up the sauces, allowing you to try different flavors with each round. You can sometimes find a similar dish in Taiwan’s night markets, but the difference here is that you can keep eating as much as you want. It only costs about 30 euros per person, the seasoning is excellent, and the ingredients are all very fresh. I went for dinner on a weekday, and after 7 p.m., you could feel a noticeable increase in crowd size. At that time, you might have to wait around 15 minutes in line to select ingredients. As for the wine, they offer Merlot from the United States, which also tastes quite good.

Ich war schon öfter dort Essen. Immer wieder gut und lecker. Erst recht die neuen Saisonsaucem. Haben uns wie immer wohl gefühlt.

We took the €29.50 buffet. The food tasted very good. Great system with the board. You can choose all the ingredients yourself and the chef will prepare the food within 5 minutes. It's ready and served. I can recommend.

On my birthday (September 24th) we had a very nice evening with good food. The selection of food was very good and also suitable for my vegan daughter. The service was charming and confident. We'd love to come back

The salad section was disappointing as there was hardly any refills. In the Mongolian grill, the ingredients were cut so small that the finished dish was more reminiscent of a soup. Overall, the price-performance ratio is not justified.

The restaurant has really fallen into disrepair. We used to love going here because we really liked the concept and the selection of food. However, it has been remodeled inside. It used to be very cafeteria-like, but now it's an absolute disaster. You share tables with strangers, you don't have any space left and you feel like you're at a train station snack bar. It's ultra loud because way too many people are crammed into this space. We last reserved a table for last Saturday. When we arrived, the blonde lady brought us to the table without saying a word. A long table that we were supposed to share with 4 other parties. For a date for two - disaster. The waitress didn't say a word to us. We were happy to know the concept, but we decided to go again. There are plenty of other restaurants in the price range where you can sit and eat comfortably and receive friendly service. We won't go there again.

Hello everyone, This evening I had dinner with my friend in the restaurant here. As always, the buffet was very extensive and delicious. A small warning at this point: the chilli garlic marinade is super tasty but probably hotter than expected for most people! Unfortunately, I still have one small point of criticism. Every now and then a piece of fish, for example fish, smuggled into my food that was freshly prepared by the chefs, even though I didn't put it in my bowl. Not really a big deal for me, but it can be very worrying for allergy sufferers. Otherwise, a big thank you to Pierre-Rene who provided great service. We've already told you this personally, but again: The way you work is incredibly beautiful and it gives me so much joy to meet people who have so much fun and competence at work. I work in this industry myself and have never met such a nice, courteous and helpful waiter. Please keep it up and good luck for your future. Sehr leckeres Essen und toller Service. (nur etwas laut)

I would have preferred not to give any stars!!!!! All you can eat on the weekend!!! Everything you could call sauce tasted like nothing???!!!! The bowls were all very dirty, my husband asked her that all the bowls were dirty, no reaction!!!! We would have to wait 10 minutes for a waiter before we could order drinks again!!!!! Everyone inattentive!!!! There was so much caraway in fried noodles that was simply inedible! And no parking spaces! Never again !!!

Viel zu voll, wir mussten sehr lange auf unser Essen warten. 3 Schalen in 2,5 Stunden. Wenn wir die Soße wechseln wollten mussten wir einen Kellner rufen, Geschirr hat sich auf dem Tisch gestapelt, von alleine kam keiner. Schade, so macht es keinen Spaß!

Im ersten Moment denkt man "ordentliche Preise" ABER 1. Sehr gute Essensqualität. Das Himbeersorbet ist ein Träumchen. 🥰 2. Sehr freundliches Personal. 3. Sehr schön eingerichtet. Wenn der Laden voll ist, kann es auch mal etwas lauter werden aber trotzdem ist es gut ertragbar. Die drei Stunden, die wir da waren, sind richtig schnell verflogen. 😊 wor kommen gerne wieder.

Wir sind ein-zwei mal im Jahr dort und haben wie immer einen Tollen Abend mit leckerem Essen verbracht. Macht weiter so, bis zum nächsten mal.

Die Suppe war leider nur lauwarm, aber das Buffet war wieder sehr lecker. Man würde mehr essen wenn man denn dann könnte. Wir haben uns sehr gefreut dass es so spontan noch einen Platz für uns gab.

Mongo's is my favourite restaurant in Cologne. I love Mongolian Barbecue food! I had the Mongo's Total Seniors special. They have a huge selection of vegetables and meats. I chose salmon, beef, ostrich, and kangaroo. You have a choice of 10 sauces. For my first bowl, I chose Malay Satay. For my second bowl, I chose Massaman Curry. Come hungry. You won't be disappointed. This is the fifth time I ate at this restaurant. (2016, 2019, 2021, 2022, and 2024)

Lecker wie immer. Bedienung sehr aufmerksam und freundlich. Die Kinder waren gerne gesehen.

Food good and uncomplicated. We had 2 hours to eat after booking, which was completely enough. What I think is particularly good is that I can order with a QR code. Payment can also be done this way. Thumbs up for that. Praise also goes to the waiters....everyone in a good mood despite a lot of walking....many orders....I take my hat off to them. My cola had very little carbonation... The store is very busy, some tables are too close together.

Friendly reception. Service at the table was friendly. The buffet was well stocked and you could try a lot. The highlight are the different “sauces” that you can choose beforehand at the table.

It didn't meet my expectations and the food wasn't my thing.

Total disaster I knew Mongo's from Frankfurt many years ago before it closed there for reasons unknown to me. The food was fabulous at the time and the ambience was very nice, dignified, like an upscale lounge. Now I wanted to go to Cologne with my girlfriend to spend a few days there and while searching on Maps for a restaurant we could go to in the evening, I was happy to discover Mongo's. I was very euphoric and reserved a table for the next evening and wanted to present this great location to my friend. When we arrived we were both shocked. A huge crowd and extremely crowded. Way too many tables and everyone close together. And a noise level that you can hardly understand your own words. This was supposed to be a nice romantic dinner. Meter-long queue in front of the buffet. The waiters were running all over the place and it's a mystery to me how they can be so friendly and in a good mood despite the crowds and the stress. That's why the 5 stars for service. The “Cola” from the tap was not carbonated. The food was well... nothing special. You only get rice to order and not at the same time as the meal, which is why it was cold on the second course. All in all, extremely uncomfortable. Only the waiters were very nice and friendly. By the way, I would also like to mention that we were shocked by the menu, which offered several dishes with insects. Choke! What's next? Dog? Cat? Guinea pig?

Leider sehr enttäuschend! Nachdem wir (erst auf Nachfrage!) nach 30 Minuten endlich Getränke bestellen konnten, gab es nach weiterer Nachfrage nach 45 Minuten endlich zwar eine Suppe, aber den ersten Gang zum Buffet konnten wir nach fast einer Stunde antreten. Dieses war reich gefüllt und auch sehr lecker zubereitet! Offenbar war zuvor nicht ausreichend Personal vor Ort, denn nun wurde der Service zunächst etwas besser. Die zweite Buffet-Runde lief gut und das Essen wurde schnell gebracht. Bei der dritten und bereits letzten Runde (Nach 2 Stunden wird man aufgefordert zu gehen!!!!) wurde meiner Freundin ihr Essen gebracht, meins jedoch tauchte nie wieder auf. Bezahlen sollten wir trotzdem!! In Summe wirkte das Personal zwar sehr bemüht, war aber ob des Andrangs (es war Angebots-Tag und damit einhergehend irgendwann Mensa-Flair) offensichtlich überfordert. Das war das erste mal in meinem Leben, dass ich hungrig ein Buffet verlassen habe! Einen schlechten Tag kann jeder haben, aber das anfängliche Zeit schinden wirkte schon sehr gewollt. Für mich war es der erste und letzte Besuch

I've been to Mongo's restaurant in Bochum several times a long time ago and was always very satisfied. Unfortunately the restaurant there has permanently closed. However, on my first visit to Mongo's in Cologne I was anything but satisfied. The staff seemed completely overwhelmed and had no time for us. We had to wait an hour before we were even served, and that was only after asking several times. I went to the waiter two or three times to ask if we could finally order. The food itself was - as usual from Mongo's - very good, but the service in Cologne is absolutely catastrophic. Really disappointing.

We spent a great evening at Mongo's and were given great advice from Katja when it came to the “Mongolian Barbecue”: great tips on the marinades/sauces and suitable combinations. A really great experience!!! Thanks for the evening.

There is no better place in Cologne to end the evening better than in Mongos. The outstanding Mongolian cuisine is only surpassed by the super friendly staff. I would come back at any time.

We had a great evening at Mongos in Cologne-Deutz! The service, especially Katja, was simply fantastic – friendly, attentive and always in a good mood. The food was also great, fresh, tasty and perfectly prepared. We were particularly impressed by the variety of ingredients and the quality. We'll definitely be back!

A wonderful concept with a great ambience. Very friendly and committed staff. The food is excellent. Fresh products, very quickly and well prepared. The sauces are very well done and very versatile. They change every few months. The selection of fresh foods leaves nothing to be desired. Whether a la carte or as “M. Total” an absolute pleasure. Reservations can be made quickly and easily over the phone or online. There are enough parking spaces in the direct parking garage (chargeable but not expensive) underneath. Keep it up! You're all doing a great job.

I went to eat there with work colleagues on the recommendation of a colleague and I didn't regret it! Great selection of food, for people who like to try “new” things. The service was great (especially the blonde woman :-)) knew the menu by heart and was therefore able to answer questions and make recommendations. Despite the size of the group, it was not overwhelmed (which I have experienced in other restaurants.) We had reserved at short notice during the week and were still able to express a wish for the seat. -This was at the window, where we could have a good chat with pleasant background music. Otherwise, I like the overall look of the ambience and it fits the Asian theme. -I'll be back when I'm in the area!

Wir haben leider sehr lange auf das Essen warten müssen. Teils 45 Minuten so dass der Nachtisch schneller ear als die letzte Portion. Des weiteren ist kaum nachgelegt worden. Es ist schade das man um 20.00 Uhr frustriert auf die uswhl guckt und leere schalen Schüsseln vorfindet die auch nach 30 min warten nicht mehr gefüllt werden.

Wir waren rundherum zufrieden, das Essen war sehr lecker und der Service sehr zuvorkommend.

The quality of the food was not good for the price. Main courses are drowned out by the sauces, unfortunately no other taste other than salt. I don't even want to talk about the desserts, ice cream, yogurt, that's it. Drinks were non-carbonated. Far too expensive for €30, I would like more quality.

Essen mit Event Charakter: Lebhaftes Restaurant, große Auswahl an Zutaten Wir haben das Buffet gewählt. Da wir in unserer Familie zwei Veganer, einen Vegetarier, ein Kind und jemanden mit Erdnuss Allergie haben, ist es manchmal echt schwierig etwas für alle zu finden. Hier war das kein Problem. Die Auswahl am Buffet ist riesig, es gibt auch Produkte für Veganer, wie zum Beispiel plant Based Chicken oder Tofu. Ich fand es sehr gut, dass auf Allergien so viel Rücksicht genommen wird, das habe ich bisher so noch nicht erlebt. Kleiner Abstrich: Die Würzung der Speisen Könnte etwas differenzierte ausfallen. Alles in allem hatten wir einen schönen Abend zusammen.

Für uns war es das erste Mal und es war sehr lecker, der Service war super und das Ambiente harmonisch. ***** Danke

We came from Berlin for the Ayliva concert and then stopped at Mongos. The food is great, the drinks are nice too. The dessert rounded everything off and above all (!) the waiters were really cool guys. I love it. If we go to Cologne again: we'll be back :)

Was shocked to see zebra and kangaroo as meat options. We never would have gone had we know that. Food was just soso. Definitely won’t be back.

Super friendly and even if everything didn't go smoothly for us, the restaurant specialist and the service manager reacted 100% professionally. This is how service works in 2024. Das Service Personal von dem wir bedient wurden war super. Leider haben die Getränke etwas lange gebraucht aber es war auch recht voll. Weniger schön war das die Schlange am Buffet riesig war. Leider landete unser Essen einmal bei den Nachbarn.
