Shezan in Berlin

The restaurant is very cute and clean. The service is relatively friendly. The food, unfortunately, was absolutely disappointing. There were four of us, and none of the dishes were seasoned. None of the dishes justified the price in the slightest. Unfortunately, my choice was completely inedible (consistency and taste), and I had to return it. They asked if I wanted something else, which I declined. Unfortunately, the price didn't reflect this at all; it was basically full price for no meal. Definitely reasonable for a drink, but I would definitely advise against the food!

Service top. Food arrives in a few minutes. Staff totally friendly. Portions are nice and big so the price-performance ratio is completely right. We'd love to come back again and again. Only recommended!

If there is one place which i absolutely love in berlin is Shezan in Mitte. You will get the best food at this place and any soup lover should definitely try their dal shorba. The customer service is top notch and staff is very friendly so this is your place for dine-in.

The food was just perfect! It's hard to find a good restaurant that gives authentic Indian tasting food and this place does that. The people who work there are very friendly too.

Had chai and pyaz pakora. Chai is 7/10 for not making it sugary 👍but skimped on tea and spices 👎. Pakora 1/10 for following reasons: - The taste and texture was underwhelming, the onion was slimy and batter was not crunchy - I know that the restaurant is in Germany and I cannot expect Indian quantities/price ratio, but charging €6.90 for 6 rings of onion is certainly excessive 👎👎👎

A very pleasant atmosphere and friendly staff. The prices are fair. I have already invited people here for my birthday. However, it has to be said that the taste does not go beyond the standard. The ingredients are fresh and the food is pleasing to the eye. But the seasoning is very one-sided, boring and not surprising. However, if you don't expect anything else, you won't be disappointed here. I also often come for lunch, which is totally ok for €9.90. There are also vegan dishes. However, the offer could be even more diverse.

The staff is friendly and the kitchen fulfills special requests. Shortly before the holidays, 5 of us had dinner there and we got a glass of champagne and soup on the house.

Excellent tasting and clean food. Enjoyed the chicken biryani and lamb curry with naan. Samosas were served with mango chutney.

I didn't even order anything, I ate and left. I came with you a cola because I'm diabetic and drank a drop of sugar. The waiter at the entrance started shouting: No, no, no, no, no order.

Neither was the ambience Indian, nor was anything in the room. The food...lots of rice, lots of salad and 5 pieces of overcooked chicken. Unfortunately totally unseasoned. The soup was OK if you added some seasoning. But everything was served on plastic dishes. That didn't work at all.

The food was bland. I was given two poppadoms which seemed to be straight out of a packet, and the rice arrived before everything else. It just wasn’t good unfortunately, I was really disappointed. Perhaps I just got unlucky with what I ordered but I can’t really say anything positive about the food at all. That is not Indian cuisine. It didn’t help that the people on the table next to me were loudly playing a video on their phone for a good while, pretty rude. The guy serving me was great though, no complaints on the service.

Very comfortable seating directly on the canal with the sparkling water surface in the evening sun, pleasantly cool Summer. Very good food, especially the tandoori and grill/sizzler dishes. Many options for lactose intolerance. Particularly interesting: Indian salad and Indian ice cream in porcelain pots. Very nice staff! Gladly again.

I enjoyed great Indian food here. Would advise you to try mango lassi it is one of the best lassis which I have tried. Also here is good atmosphere especially in the evening.

Im Sommer sitzt man auf einer schönen Terrasse am Wasser, genauer gesagt auf einem fest vertäuten Schiff. Wir wollten hier einen Gutschein einlösen und haben den Service diesbezüglich nicht so positiv erlebt. Das von uns gewählte Gericht konnten wir nicht bekommen "weil das nicht mit Gutschein geht". Warum wurde uns nicht erläutert. Die Kommunikation auf deutsch war mit einigen Bedienungen schwierig. Die dann von uns gewählten Gerichte waren lecker, das Ambiente ist schön, vor allem im Sommer - bei der Gastfreundlichkeit ist noch etwas Luft nach oben.

After we sat down at the table, a waiter approached us without even greeting us. He just looked at us and asked, 'Food?' We replied, 'Yes,' and he handed us the menus, saying, 'Fast,' before walking away. We arrived at the restaurant at 8:00 PM, so it wasn't close to closing time, and even if the kitchen was about to stop serving, it could have been communicated in a more courteous manner. This experience ruined the entire atmosphere for us, so we decided to get up and leave.

Nice atmosphere right on the river. There was nothing wrong with the service either. However, reservations for the evening are recommended. The food was very good and came typically Indian on several plates.

A huge advantage is the fact that you can pay with an American Express card, where most restaurants in the area do not accept this card, or only cash at all. The food was very average, the butter chicken had no character and the chicken itself had a very strange foamy structure. Mango lassi very sweet, also lacked flavor. Nice staff, speaking good English, nice place to sit by the river.

Beautifully located by and on the water. Unfortunately we weren't allowed to sit at one of the beautiful tables right by the water. Apparently they were reserved. Everything remained clear until we left. Annoying.

First time for me to eat an Indian food. I liked it so much. I ordered chicken with rice. It was unique and delicious! The atmosphere was also very warm and cozy

The flavour of the dishes were good (not the best Vindaloo Ive had) however the chicken was raw/undercooked, in all 3 dishes we ordered. We ended up eating only the naan and sauce. After informing the waitress, she only responded by saying she informed her manager. Later, a man came with our bill (not sure if he was the manager as he did not say anything regarding the complaint) and there it was, fully priced meals to be paid for. Quite disappointing as there was not even an apology. (In terms of value for money: 17Euro for a dish with about 5 cubes of chicken only). We chose this place as the reviews were quite good, so maybe it was just a bad day!

Recommended by hotel to go there. Nice and cosy surroundings in Berlin-Mitte beside the river. Staff was quick to respond and professional. Among all we (family) ordered was for exemple chicken korma, butter chicken, naan bread, rice etc. Chicken had sort of rubbery texture (need to cock longer when rubbery texture), sauce ok but didn't have those flavors as we expected from eating it many times before. Naan bread was good. We ordered one portion less then we were as we had two kids with us (young teenage) and was enough for us. Price range was ok and surroundings in good company raised the whole experience but it fell on the lack of taste in sauces and texture of the chicken.

An ok experience close to the hotel we stayed at. Good drink while the Tandoori chicken was dry and not particularly spicy. The staff was very attentive and pleasant.

This was our choice for a big birthday celebration. They kindly allowed us to decorate the seating. Good was fabulous and plentiful. Excellent staff we would return several times on our visit.

The atmosphere is delightful (we stayed outside) and the waiters were very attentive, polite and quick. Very diverse menu, but I thought the food lacked intensity in flavor. I expected more seasoning, compared to other experiences with Indian cuisine I've had. I recommend the samosas, which were delicious. The mango sauce was also great.

An excellent location with a beautiful view of the river and the possibility to eat from the anchored boat next to the bar. The food is delicious, I highly recommend the tomato soup. The service is efficient.

If you want to eat spicy, you have to consciously order “spicy”. The normal chicken with rice is definitely okay for wimps like us. I found the salad very tasty and the tomato soup was also spicy and extremely tasty. The service was attentive and the portions were normal. It was perfect as a light dinner. You can eat not only in the restaurant, but also outside by the river.

I enjoyed my vegetarian food and my enjoyed his lamb. We did ask for it to not come out too quickly, as we were trying to take our time. But it came out in five minutes. It was filling and I liked the massive bread. Staff seemed a bit grumpy, polite enough, though as if it it was an effort.

I don’t want to be mean but I have to be honest: the curry here wasn’t good. The chef has no love for his art. The restaurant is connected to a hotel, so I guess they have a steady flow of customers which is not good as they don’t seem to be bothered much to make the effort of presenting good food in a nice atmosphere. I think this place can’t be in anyone’s top list.

Good Indian restaurant just below Museum Island. Definitely good food and very friendly service. The most significant "merit", however, is the external boat, where there are tables where you can eat. Truly a curious attraction and certainly very pleasant to dine here on temperate spring evenings!

Ordered Shahi Paneer, not a single almond, raisin or cashew in it. Just the sauce with rice and cheese. It's a real shame, it was my favorite Indian so far. I must have been busy because I waited for over an hour, the announced time was 41 minutes. Cashew nuts and almonds are not exactly cheap to buy, so you can also save money. Went there again today. The food was just lukewarm, the quantity was very manageable and if the menu offered something with mushrooms, it would be nice if there weren't just 3 snippets of it in the meal. The quality of the food has deteriorated VERY much over the years. The price/performance ratio doesn't match.

This is my first review in Berlin German and what a success it was..staff so friendly and helpful they made a chicken dansak curry for me that is not on the menu.the food was outstanding and good size portions,I highly recommend this Indian restaurant if your out and about in Berlin….
