Salt and Pepper in Berlin

Some of us actually wanted to eat here. But the staff did everything they could to make us leave without ordering. The place was almost empty by 5 p.m. Since we weren't sure when we walked in whether all three of us would eat, we were offered a tiny, round table with only two chairs right in front of the restroom. I then said that we wouldn't eat by the restroom when there were so many free tables. Somewhat reluctantly, we were given a larger table right by the counter. Passive-aggressively, we were told that it was reserved from 7 p.m., so we would have to leave at 6:30 p.m. ... Just as we had sat down, we were told that we had to pay in cash. I have no idea what the problem is with card payments in restaurants when you're paying your taxes, but I'll never know whether the food here is really that good as long as this rude guy is working the reception. We ended up in a burger place around the corner, where they were friendly and accepted card payments.

Drinks are of decent price. Food was delicious. Although it is a large restaurant, there is no card payment

Great shop with a large cocktail menu. All drinks are fairly priced and the cocktails taste great. I'd love to come back any time I'm in Berlin. A recommendation for Friedrichshain.

The atmosphere of the restaurant is very inviting and cozy, the staff is very friendly and accommodating. The menu is very diverse and offers a large selection. Most of the dishes are very tasty and the quantity is generous, the prices are adequate and not too expensive. Unfortunately, the tenders were a bit tasteless and didn't really impress, but all in all we are very satisfied and would like to come back.

Personally, I find the mix of Mexican and Indian cuisine a bit strange. I often eat Indian food and had Chicken Madras there. It was pretty average in taste, but extremely inexpensive. My companion had enchiladas combinadas and was thrilled.

We come in, the boss: "What do you want?" When we told them we wanted something to drink, they kicked us out. It was 11 p.m., many tables were free and we absolutely had to order food? Incredible!

Salt & Pepper is my go-to restaurant for Indian food! The price-performance ratio is great: generous portions at fair prices and the taste is simply great. The atmosphere is cozy and you almost feel at home. The owner in particular is super friendly and extremely accommodating, which always makes a visit here something special. Whether curry or naan – absolute recommendation :)

My girlfriend and I were on vacation in Berlin and discovered this little restaurant to enjoy a few cocktails and end the evening. The atmosphere was very friendly and the cocktails were very tasty, the selection of cocktails was very large and varied. The price is great. When we're back in Berlin and on the corner we'll come back.

If you're passing by Ostkreuz, I would 100% recommend coming here. The service was absolutely phenomenal - our waiter was lovely and really friendly and the food arrived very quickly. The food was also fantastic, with a massive menu. All parts of the menu were fantastic and the vegetarian options were great. Would highly recommend the nachos! Overall would strongly recommend to anybody passing by Ostkreuz

We spontaneously ended up eating there! We were warmly welcomed and the service was really great! We all ordered Indian dishes. The price-performance ratio was right and it was very tasty! You should remember this restaurant!

As soon as you enter, you will notice a pleasant smell of spices, which complements the comfortably furnished restaurant perfectly. The staff is accommodating, so you immediately feel like you've eaten there before.

The mix of Mexican and Indian food may seem surprising at first, but it goes together wonderfully and, above all, extremely tasty! Are here right now and will come back often and at any time!

Lovely evening atmosphere with great food. The staff were incredibly friendly and had brilliant service. We both got the Himalaya BBQ chicken and lamb and it was 10/10. The cocktails were delicious and a great price. High recommend.

We eat here 4-5 times a year. The boss is really nice, the food (we eat Indian) is super tasty and the prices are also totally reasonable. The service is great, all the waiters are on their toes. We like coming here.

Super warm welcome in a small street which transforms after dark, lit by the lanterns and signs of the many restaurants in the surrounding area. The restaurant has a varied and original menu (mix of Indian and Mexican) that will satisfy everyone, even if in the group, you have very different tastes. And there is vegetarian! The dishes are really excellent, and the prices are completely reasonable. An address to put aside!

I was initially skeptical about the combination of Mexican and Indian cuisine. The location is particularly impressive because of its extremely fair price-performance ratio. Both the Mexican and Indian dishes are convincing. The service could have been a bit better. The service staff only had to be called to the table when no one had anything left to drink in their glasses. The rump steak we ordered was also very fibrous. Of course the restaurant can't do anything about that. When this was pointed out to the service staff, nothing else happened other than acknowledgment. I would have liked a more constructive solution. Otherwise everything is okay. You can definitely stop here for a small thaler.

We have previously been to the MATADOR regularly and have always been very satisfied. Now we are in Salt & Pepper. We feel very comfortable there and will continue to set up shop there...

It's interesting, Mexican/Indian... that means the mistress was Indian happy (grin). The food is really tasty and the service is also good. Not too tense... Thank you... 🤗

On the positive side: - food quality and taste is excellent (had steak with fries and pepper sauce) - Friendly and pretty quick service - possibility to watch the Football European League 2024 On the negative side (and reason for not 5 stars) - both the cocktail (Long Island) and the Martini felt “watered up”. Simply not strong as they should be - Cannot pay by Bank card, only cash is accepted If they would fix these, gladly give 5 stars

1. Boss is a very approachable person. Pretty pleasant person. 2. The food is 10 out of 10! Warm, tasty, delicious spices, and grill, bread etc.. Fresh from a Tandor (earth oven) 3. Everywhere in the restaurant was so clean and pleasant, see pictures. 4.The restaurant is predominantly and beautifully built of wood, with matching lighting. Very convenient ! 5. The story of the boss and his management is very interesting and touching. At least for us [my wife and I]. We would like to thank you very much for the fabulous dinner and your friendliness, we will be happy to recommend this restaurant and will definitely come by more often. Ayad and Sayida
