Salt and Pepper in Berlin

We have previously been to the MATADOR regularly and have always been very satisfied. Now we are in Salt & Pepper. We feel very comfortable there and will continue to set up shop there...

I was initially skeptical about the combination of Mexican and Indian cuisine. The location is particularly impressive because of its extremely fair price-performance ratio. Both the Mexican and Indian dishes are convincing. The service could have been a bit better. The service staff only had to be called to the table when no one had anything left to drink in their glasses. The rump steak we ordered was also very fibrous. Of course the restaurant can't do anything about that. When this was pointed out to the service staff, nothing else happened other than acknowledgment. I would have liked a more constructive solution. Otherwise everything is okay. You can definitely stop here for a small thaler.

Incredibly beautiful experience! I have rarely experienced such top service. The food was very tasty, the price-performance ratio is absolutely fair and I can recommend the restaurant without hesitation. Definitely worth a visit! Thanks to everyone involved and see you next time! :)

It's interesting, Mexican/Indian... that means the mistress was Indian happy (grin). The food is really tasty and the service is also good. Not too tense... Thank you... 🤗

On the positive side: - food quality and taste is excellent (had steak with fries and pepper sauce) - Friendly and pretty quick service - possibility to watch the Football European League 2024 On the negative side (and reason for not 5 stars) - both the cocktail (Long Island) and the Martini felt “watered up”. Simply not strong as they should be - Cannot pay by Bank card, only cash is accepted If they would fix these, gladly give 5 stars

1. Boss is a very approachable person. Pretty pleasant person. 2. The food is 10 out of 10! Warm, tasty, delicious spices, and grill, bread etc.. Fresh from a Tandor (earth oven) 3. Everywhere in the restaurant was so clean and pleasant, see pictures. 4.The restaurant is predominantly and beautifully built of wood, with matching lighting. Very convenient ! 5. The story of the boss and his management is very interesting and touching. At least for us [my wife and I]. Our regular Indian restaurant for many years... Always tastes good with Mustafa and his team. We always feel comfortable here.

My girlfriend & I wanted to have a drink and sit comfortably outside on a warm Friday evening around 9 p.m. This restaurant appealed with its outdoor terrace. After asking one of the waiters, we sat down at a table for four to wait until two ladies at the next table had paid and we could sit at the table for two. At that moment, another waiter shouted across the entire outdoor patio that we should get up immediately and that we can only order food and drinks would be delivered much later. We stood up, shocked at the basement's condescending manner, and moved on to the next opportunity that soon presented itself. This place really doesn't have it figured out when it comes to service and hospitality. Thanks for nothing & never see you again! And now another stupid answer will come back from the big boss, highly unprofessional and how strange that so many here talk about aggressive behavior towards CUSTOMERS... aiaiaiiiiii 🫣

I was there years ago and again yesterday. Sat down at a table for 4 and when asked “Only 2?” moved to a smaller table. We ordered 2 drinks but were still undecided about the food. “Drink only until 6 p.m.,” they said, and it was 5:41 p.m. We thought it would be paid for. With map? No, currently only cash. Currently? Like back then. 12 euros. Wouldn't be enough for a card payment anyway. What? That was the hat trick. Everything was done wrong in the service. Now I remember why I haven't been there for so long. Put, six.

The service is ridiculous, very rude waiter and I know reviews are being answered in a rude way what ever it is I don’t care,, they are rude online and actual very sad they are still existing, I hope they will have a training with nice service

What can I say: Favorite pub in the neighborhood. We have been coming here regularly for years and feel like we are in our second home. You can rely on the quality of the food and also the cocktails (which come at unbeatably low prices). Mustafa (the boss) and the waitress have now become good old friends. Unfortunately, since January 2024 there has only been “the Indian”, “the Mexican” is a thing of the past. It's a shame actually...

We were there on a Saturday evening around 7pm, which is rush hour. It was mostly reserved, but we still got a spot. The staff was really on their toes. Order, drinks, appetizers and food, everything came without any significant waiting time. The menu is a mix of Indian and Mexican. I had Indian-themed dishes. There was nothing to complain about. The service is attentive but unobtrusive. When ordering, the desired level of spiciness was specifically requested. Finally, there was nothing to complain about with the toilets either. I honored my positive impression with a corresponding tip. Feel free to do the same. I would happily recommend this restaurant.

Unfriendly and very aggressive waiter. Even if you don't accept drinks-only guests at peak times, you can phrase it in a more friendly manner and not in a mushy manner or with aggressiveness in your voice. Other guests apparently see it the same way and reacting to their reviews with derision and in such a condescending manner is absolutely not a sign of professionalism. Clear recommendation to avoid this store.

It was our first time together in Berlin and our hostel was nearby. The ambience really appealed to us. The waiter/manager was very friendly and accommodating. We got our food quickly and it tasted really good. We paid a fair price for the large portion in terms of price/performance. The cocktails were also super tasty and comparatively cheap, which is why we came back the next day for the cocktails after rush hour. Since he knew our hometown, we had a nice chat and were given a souvenir beer mat with schnapps. We'd love to come again :) Greetings Philipp and Ija

I travel a lot, but have never been treated as inhospitably as I am here! We spontaneously went to Ostkreuz just to see which bar we wanted to stop at. As soon as we walked in, we were told very harshly that if we didn't have any food, they wouldn't have room for us. No problem so far, we wanted to see the map. If we could have read outside (in the cold) was the reaction. Even when I pointed out that I found the tone of voice VERY unfriendly, the gentleman apologized but stuck to his mushy tone. No, I don't want to leave my money there. We are two bars further to the STRASSENBRÄU. the bar was just as busy, but the staff was super friendly and welcoming. Left a good 100.... The SALT AND UNFRIENDLY wasn't necessary! 😁 Addendum: It's sad how the service man, who has already received poor reviews here several times, tries to justify himself. It's great that there are other alternative options on the street behind the Ostkreuz. We had a great evening in another bar on the street with friendly service staff. ❣️

Update 2024 As always after training in Berlin, I went to Salt & Pepper. The prawns were on point, Mustafa was in his element and I had another sensational evening. I love this restaurant with its atmosphere and great food. Now I treat myself to another cocktail... it couldn't be better!!!!! The owner and his lovely wife always ensure an incredibly beautiful ambience. In the summer you can sit outside and in the winter it is very cozy in Salt and Pepper. The food is incomparably good and always freshly prepared. For many years I have come from Münsterland at least four times a year. Berlin is unthinkable without Salt and Pepper. The service is super friendly and the cocktails are legendary. A must if you are in Berlin.

Good food in a relaxed atmosphere. I've eaten here a few times over the last few years, especially as this restaurant offers good value for money. The quality of the food is consistently good and the staff is very friendly and uncomplicated. What is particularly positive is the relaxed atmosphere, which has little to do with the busy, hip environment. Totally normal food for normal people. Despite the recent price increase, you can still get decent food at fair prices here. You should only be careful with the drinks, as they can quickly become the main item on the bill. Addition: Since I still really enjoy eating here after 5 years, I have to increase my rating to 5 stars. Since then, Salt & Pepper has remained at the highest level in terms of taste and quality, the prices are lower than the competition and the service is and remains warm. Totally recommended.

Today at 5:45 p.m. We were just about to come into the store, as soon as the door was open, the aggressive waiter said that we should close the door while we were coming in. We wanted a table for three to have a few cocktails. However, nothing came of it because the waiter said “there are no cocktails at this time” while he went to a table at the bar with 2 cocktails. What an irony they even got a degree in gastronomy so that's not good service!! Not recommendable. If I could, I would give the service 0 stars, but unfortunately that's not possible

It was like old times, great thanks for that.. I can't understand the previous reviews! Pure enjoyment, really tasty and what can I say. Plates and cutlery clean, food fresh. Gestern wollte ich mit meiner Freundin etwas trinken und wurden von dem Restaurant Besitzer sehr unfreundlich und aggressiv abgewiesen, obwohl einige Tische frei waren ohne Reservierungsschild. Und vor einer Woche waren wir dort und das Essen war kalt und hat nicht geschmeckt. Ich hatte die nächsten Tage Durchfall und habe mich übergeben. Kann dieses Restaurant überhaupt nicht empfehlen. Zum Glück gibt es in der Gegend dort viele weitere Läden, die freundlicher sind und deren Essen mit Liebe zubereitet wird. Was soll der Besitzer auch antworten. Ich kann dieses Lokal nicht empfehlen. Neben dem schlechten Essen ist die Bedienung sehr unfreundlich und leicht aggressiv. Liebe Grüße Gabriele

Wir waren Stammkunden und haben uns nach dem gestrigen Vorfall entschieden den Laden nie wieder zu besuchen. Wir hatten schon häufiger Platzwechsel, Diskussionen bezüglich Sitzplätze und der Laden zu dem Zeitpunkt leer...... Des weiteren Unfreundlichkeit, manchmal wird man gar nicht beachtet. Über das Essen kann man sich nicht beschweren. Die arbeitenden Leute in der Küche machen gute Arbeit.

Der Service und die Atmosphäre ist Top! Es ist gleich an der S-Bahnhof. Im Vergleich mit anderen Indischen Restaurants in der selben Straße ist der Preis der Speise teuer, geschmacklich nicht übertroffen und die Portion etwa kleiner. Ein Pluspunkt ist, das Restaurant bietet vielerlei Getränke und Cocktails. Also wenn man ganz viel und günstig indische Curry essen möchte, gibe es andere Option zum Beispiel Lukas in derselben Straße.

Heut am Sonntag zu Mittag gegessen. Wieder sehr lecker und reichhaltig! Wie immer sauber,ordentlich und freundlich.Empfehle ich gerne weiter, an denen, wer indisch mag und auch gerne Mal ein Cocktail genießen möchte!
