A wonderful little restaurant with traditional Afghan cuisine. I really enjoyed the food and the staff was very friendly. I spent a lovely evening here and can fully recommend this restaurant. Thumbs up and keep it up! 👍

The food lacked authentic flavors, and each dish was quite different from what was expected based on the menu. Pricy too. The service was also disappointing, with staff coming across as somewhat rude.

I've ordered food here and had it delivered several times and it's always been absolutely delicious, super seasoned and warm:) Vegan-friendly and they have the absolute best flatbread with garlic!

Very fast delivery and delicious food

This is a great Afghan restaurant that offers an authentic taste of Afghanistan! As a South Asian, I highly recommend this place to anyone looking to experience genuine flavors. The average cost per person is around €20, depending on the dish you choose. I suggest trying the Kabab Tschopan and Kabuli—both are fantastic! One downside is that the restaurant doesn’t accept card payments, so make sure to bring cash. The candlelight dinner experience adds a special touch, and finding such halal restaurants in Leipzig is rare. I highly recommend visiting this restaurant. It’s best to reserve a table by phone, but we went without a reservation on a Friday evening and were lucky enough to get a seat. That might not always be the case, so planning ahead is a good idea.

Delicious Afghan food - authentic ambience.

Had Afghan food for the first time. Unfortunately there were no alcoholic drinks, both dishes were really tasty. Our rating: 2+

Ordered via Lieferando. Very, very tasty food that I had never eaten before. Everything we ordered tasted great. Great cuisine and definitely wasn't our last meal there. :)

Fantastic food, all dishes very good and tasty, service was very attentive, quick and friendly. The vegetarian dish was very good and I tried Sultan Paner and never had such a delicious one. All 4 of us were very satisfied.👍

Very friendly service and good food make it worth a visit. The prices are absolutely fine. Only those who want to go out in luxury should look for something else. My recommendation here is definitely Shams kabab and Murgh Curry. Wonderfully rounded taste!

You guys were so good that I ordered from you almost every day. But now the delivery takes so long (always over an hour) that I prefer to cook something myself, simply because we can no longer count on your delivery reliably. And on the last 2 out of 3 orders the meat wasn't cooked properly.

It was definitely cozy and the food was tasty too. 👍🏻 Unfortunately the service wasn't that great. When we had our food, the waiter didn't show up again until it was time to pay. It's a shame, our glasses were already empty by now and we would have liked to order something more...

I am giving 1 star because of the very disappointing experience we had. We ordered and it got here warm but the quality of food drastically drowned. It's just not delicious anymore. You can get much better for cheaper.

Excellent food, plenty of sauce and reasonable prices - what more could you want. Sultan Paneer's gravy is so good, I could go for it! My friend also liked it very much, he had a grill plate. We'll definitely be back :)

Food was very tasty. Lamb with light spicy sauce. Sat outside due to the good weather. I can't comment on the ambience inside. Service was very attentive and accommodating. We'll go back next time we visit Leipzig.

Delicious food with appropriate portion sizes and a wide variety of vegetarian/vegan dishes (which are also advertised separately). However, the side salad that was advertised for the dishes was rather disappointing and should probably be seen more as a small decoration. Our dishes were very well seasoned, the vegetable soup (spicy) was hardly spicy in my opinion, so you don't have to worry about that. Service was nice and quick, but it wasn't busy - the seats outside are very nice, but the interior is also great and at least seems very authentic :) Toilets were clean. We'd love to come back to try out more of the menu, you'll probably find some of it in restaurants with similar cuisines, but it was a difficult decision for us because a lot of it sounds very interesting. (We paid €38 for food in the photo; shandy, vegetable soup, mugh daal (chicken with lentils) and homemade cheese with potatoes)

We knew the restaurant when it was in the southern suburbs, but a lot has changed since then - and unfortunately not for the better. So we had to order inside ourselves because we weren't served even 20 minutes after the menu was handed to us. The two vegetarian dishes (Dahl Palak and Sabsijat ba Paneer) were carelessly thrown together, barely seasoned and had a strange composition: Even if the dish Sabsijat ba Paneer is supposed to contain mixed vegetables according to the menu, you first have to come up with the idea of ​​dipping mushrooms in a mango sauce - they probably had to leave. There may have been a change of ownership - unfortunately this restaurant no longer has anything to do with the Shams that I thought I knew. What a disappointment!

Delivery after 1 hour and 45 minutes. Food cold and soggy and after the delivery time. Lettuce cut so roughly that there were huge pieces. Nothing special in terms of taste!

Incredibly delicious food, a whole page with vegetarian and vegan dishes. I've rarely had such a hard time deciding because everything sounded great. And I wasn't disappointed. Great taste, great portion size. Only the cardboard straw in the lassi had to go, so it was better to just drink from the glass. 😉

Nice afghani food. Food took forever to arrive, it was almost like they'd forgotten about us! A bit pricey for the portions. They have tables outside, it's practically by the side walk. The sunset colors were worth it.

Super tasty but very spicy food in an original and cozy atmosphere. We had a lovely evening for two with delicious food. If you like spicy food, this is the place for you. Unfortunately, we had to wait quite a long time for service after eating. But all in all a recommendation!

Terrible service - a great shame because the food was nice. Waited 20 minutes for for my bill after having asked for it, before finally giving up and going to the bar to try to pay there directly. Then it turns out we are still in the 1700s because they don’t take card, so I had to walk to an ATM to get cash. Missed my tram because of it too. Stunningly poor show

The restaurant is definitely worth recommending. We didn't know Afghan cuisine and were thrilled. The homemade cheese is amazing. The skewer with lamb and veal was just as delicious. Highly recommended.

Wonderfully delicious food, we ate in the new restaurant a few weeks ago after moving. Very warm, cozy, romantic atmosphere and food also 10/10! Service was ok but we were there late in the evening and the employees were probably already ready for the end of the day. In any case, we would love to come back!

Schon lange gehört Shams zu meinen Lieblingsrestaurants in Leipzig. Seit dem Umzug ist das Ambiente noch besser geworden. Das Essen ist einfach super lecker.

Die afghanische Küche bietet ein umfangreiches Geschmackserlebnis. Von veganen, über vegetarische, bis hin zu Fleischgerichten, ist für jeden etwas dabei. Wir haben alles probiert und waren begeistert. In diesem Restaurant fühlt man sich rundum wohl. Die zarten Klänge, die gemütliche Ausstattung, das angenehme Licht und die leckeren Speisen laden zum langen Verweilen ein.

Sehr gutes esse. Einzige ist, wenn man Brot bestellt sollte man keinen Reis bekommen. Nichts destotrotz empfehlenswert! Mango Lassi top

Ich kenne den Laden schon seit vielen Jahren. Nun habe ich erstmals nach dessen Umzug bei ihnen Essen bestellt. Es war leider alles viel zu scharf gewürzt, was vorher bei den gleichen Gerichten nicht der Fall war. Das Fladenbrot mit Käse ist nicht aufgegangen und war entsprechend sehr hart und trocken. Leider bin ich sehr enttäuscht und hoffe, dass sie nur einen schlechten Tag hatten.

Il locale aveva riaperto da poco e forse per questo non avevano la possibilità di pagare con carta di credito. Mangiato bene senza dubbio, ma niente di indimenticabile. Personale cortese e attento, ma parla solo tedesco e anche il menù è solo in tedesco

To be fair, 3 stars are enough, as I do not appreciate how they treat their customers and the raised issues about their foods. The general atmosphere and foods are Okiiish.

We love it! - most of the times. We noticed that the meals are not constantly the same quality and lately the prices got high so unfortunately we are not ordering as often as we did before. We are also sad that there are no more lunch deals as used to be. Can't say anything about the atmosphere since we never been to the restaurant itself, always ordering Mango Murgh, Murg Dahl and Bolani 🧡

Essen war lecker und reichhaltig, jedoch waren die Portionen so groß, dass man sie kaum auf essen kann. Die Hauptspeise kam jedoch schon bevor die Vorspeise gegessen war, dazwischen hätte mehr Zeit sein müssen. Nette Atmosphäre und freundliche Bedienung, Preisleistungsverhältnis ist in Ordnung.

Das Essen war sehr lecker, gut angerichtet und preislich angemessen. Unser zweiter Besuch wird nicht der letzte gewesen sein. Es war ein schöner Abend. Vielen Dank.

Für Vegetarier gibt es hier eine gute Auswahl an Speisen, die man so nicht überall bekommt. Ich hoffe der Laden bleibt noch lange erhalten

Das Essen war super und das Ambiente sehr schön angerichtet. Super nettes Personal auch. Ich kann besonders den Kabab Teller empfehlen. Die Portionen sind ziemlich groß und das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis sehr gut. Für Getränk, Hauptspeise und Vorspeise habe ich knapp 25€ gezahlt. Wir freuen uns auf das nächste Mal.😊

Seit ca 15 Jahren gehe ich ab und zu dort essen. Leider nahm die Qualität über die Jahre deutlich ab. Spätestens als der ursprüngliche Betreiber sein Geschäft übergab verfiel die Substanz immer mehr. Essen: keine kulinarische Handschrift, aber warm, kein Pep, einfach lahm Einrichtung: dunkel und lieblos, wie vor 10 Jahren, aber bunte Kissen ( wow ) Service: desinteressiert Insgesamt halt 2 von 10 Punkten. Es war sehr lecker, allerdings gehören auf einen Cheeseburger saure Gurken und keine Salat Gurken. Deswegen fehlt ein Stern .

Super schönes Ambiente, netter Service (auch Trinknapf für den Hund), Preis-Leistung top, Essen sehr geschmackvoll und reichhaltig. Einziger Abzug ist, dass man nicht mit Karte bezahlen kann.

Super super lecker (hatte die 206 auf Empfehlung des Koches). 10/10. Super freundliche und zuvorkommende Bedienung. Abends war dann etwas mehr los, das Bezahlen hat ein klein wenig gebraucht. Aber wir hatten eine wundervolle Zeit. Ich komme wieder!
