This restaurant, which appears somewhat inconspicuous from the outside, impresses with its typical Indian cuisine. We were in town on business and enjoyed dinner here! One of the menu offerings is highly recommended!

After lunch I simply had food poisoning and lay in bed with a fever of 39 degrees. The food itself was delicious and the service staff were very nice. Apparently I was unlucky as the other 3 I was there with had no problems. But they all ordered something different. But it's not possible to simply use bad ingredients

The Shalimar in Hanover is modernly furnished and exudes a cozy atmosphere. Various seating options make it possible to enjoy your meal both in the middle of it all and a little further away in the quieter area of ​​the location. I tried a vegetarian dish with eggplant and potatoes here. Unfortunately it was too spicy for me, but I could tone it down a bit with a yoghurt dip. The dessert, a mango ice cream variant, made everything up again. Parking is difficult to come by here as it is in the middle of the city center. Conclusion: I would eat here again at any time, but then pay attention to the level of spiciness.

After many years I was here again (since the Chinese restaurant next door is closed today). I'm so disappointed. The food has no taste at all. And if Indian food has no taste, that means a lot. I love Indian food and eat Indian food regularly. Not even the rice tasted good. I've never had that before. Even takeaways taste better. Very sad. I'm still shocked that a curry doesn't taste like curry and you can get some ready-made paste as a fish curry... The service was also overwhelmed by the number of guests. I can't recommend it.

Yesterday my family and I had a very nice evening at Shalimar. The dishes (vegetarian and lamb in various preparations) were excellent and had just the right spiciness for the different tastes. The service was very friendly and attentive, the ambience and atmosphere was pleasant. Although I have lived in Hanover for decades and Shalimar is not a new opening, it was my first visit. Why actually? In any case, it won't be the last.

Courteous service that tries to fulfill all wishes. Very tasty food, plentiful and tasty. But: they can't be spicy :-) Except for the electric lamps on the tables and the lack of Indian music in the background, it's a very nice atmosphere. Always happy for over 20 years!

I can only recommend this very nice restaurant. Great staff and of course the food too.

I liked the flavours of spices and their flexibility to adjust spice levels. In my inexperienced taste buds, I did not like the oil used for frying papad of our masala papad. Samosa chat was finger licking delicious.

A very nice Indian restaurant. The food is very tasty across the board. However, I have a note - we were there for dinner with 10 people. 2 people ordered a dish with several starters. The other 8 people had to wait over an hour until the food came or the two had eaten their starters. That's not good, at least you should ask whether the other people want to wait until the starters are eaten.

A very nice Indian restaurant. The service was very friendly and accommodating. The food was tasty, but bland. People who stay away from Indian cuisine because of its spiciness should definitely give this restaurant a chance. For people who enjoy the fire of Indian spices, I would recommend making sure to order something really spicy. Nevertheless, the mild dishes are also very tasty. Overall, highly recommended.

It was all good. The Corona requirements were also all met. The 3G proof was requested and the Luca app is used for contact tracking. The food was very, very tasty, staff is very friendly. We only waited a bit long for the food, but it was still okay. Value for money is right, not expensive.

Shalimar is considered the oldest Indian restaurant in Hannover. It provides the actual Indian dining experience with traditional and delicious tastes.

They treated us very nicely and the food is delicious.

We called in advance and were treated very kindly. The food was excellent, huge portions of curry (large bowls!) and tasted great. The staff was consistently friendly and accommodating, and the atmosphere was very nice. A super good Indian restaurant!

Update from April 5, 2024: Very busy restaurant, problem-free internet reservation/quick confirmation. Pleasant space. Well prepared food, there were 5 of us and there was nothing to complain about. The service is a bit bumpy, but nothing serious. The staff is friendly. Toilets perfect. A successful evening, starters, main courses & drinks 200 Eu with tip. At lunch there is a good selection of fine, tasty dishes, with fantastic rice. Always busy at lunchtime. The spiciness is perfect for German palates. Overall, a light kitchen. Always very well attended in the evening. Menu very extensive. Portions sufficiently sized. I've been going there off and on for many years and it's always been good. Service impeccable. Prices within normal limits.

Food super tasty. When it came to service, you had to be patient until they noticed who you wanted to reorder, e.g. B. want a drink or pay.

I had some Dal makhni, butter garlic naan, rice, papad, Raita, cocktail and Kulfi there. Ended up ordering one more glass of cocktail, it was so good! The first glass looked quite presentable (and reminded me of Goa with that little umbrella decor on it) but the second glass didn't. Which is why I deducted a star. Dal makhni was creamy, naan was super soft and flavourful, and raita had the right amount of salt and vegetables. So good! Kulfi was totally disappointing. The presentation was good, they added some sugar syrup (maybe Honey/Agave) chocolate syrup and dried flaky nuts on the top but the actual Kulfi in itself lacked flavor, moisture and creaminess. Not sure why the cook at Indian restaurents in Europe don't add salt in the rice while boiling it, I am not used to adding the salt separately. It was expensive but most items were delicious. The service was quick and the staff was energetic, warm, interactive :) Would love to revisit!

Food was good but was expensive.

The food here is very tasty and portions are good. Especially the Paneer we ordered was so fresh and well marinated. We also ordered Dal Makhani which tasted just like Indian home cooked one. Indian breads like Naan and Lachcha Paratha were soft and tasty. I would highly recommend this place if you are craving for authentic Indian food.

Refused to give us tap water, even though we had a decent sized order. Couple of Euros that you earn from selling bottled water will not make you richer, but showing a decent gesture and give people tap water when they ask for it goes a long way. Even though the food was very good, staff is friendly, and it is quite atmospheric. However, there were 5 members of staff in the venue and only 3 tables with people, still it was hard to get waiters attention.

Very cozy and nice atmosphere. Absolutely friendly, courteous and attentive service. The food was fantastic. We shared two starter platters: meat & vegetarian and meat, fish and scampi. The various sauces served with it rounded off the absolutely excellent taste. The main course was a chicken makhani (chicken tandoori pieces in tomato-yoghurt sauce. A taste explosion

Das beste indische Restaurants im Hannover-Raum! Wir waren zu viert zum Abendessen und alle waren wir begeistert vom Essen! Wir haben Chicken Madras, Lamb Vindaloo und Dal Makhani bestellt. Das Fleisch (Hähnchen & Lamm) war sehr zart und saftig und hat einfach super geschmeckt. Die Linsen waren sehr authentisch. Einer der wenigen Indern, die authentische Küchen in Hannover anbieten. Der Service war sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Wir werden sicherlich öfter vorbeikommen.

Aufgrund von vielen positiven Feedbacks, hatten wir beschlossen den Mittagstisch auszuprobieren und wurden leider sehr enttäuscht. Das Essen erinnerte leider nur an ein schlechtes Hotel Buffett Essen. Das Chicken Biriani schmeckte angebrannt und aufgewärmt, das Lamb Bhuna war überhaupt nicht scharf und die Konsistenz erinnerte nicht im geringsten an ein Curry. Es gab keine Geschmacksexplosionen im Mund, man schmeckte keine feinen Nuancen der indischen Küche heraus. Auch sind wir es von anderen indischen Restaurants gewohnt, dass es schon beim Reinkommen duftet, das war hier leider nicht so. Auch das Essen war nicht liebevoll angerichtet. Die Bedienung war zwar freundlich, schaute jedoch meist genervt und man hatte nicht den Eindruck, man freut sich über die Gäste. Wir können dieses Restaurant als authentische, indische Küche nicht empfehlen

Das Restaurant Shalimar bietet exzellentes indisches Essen mit einer vielfältigen Auswahl. Die Aromen sind authentisch und die Gerichte werden mit frischen Zutaten zubereitet. Der Service ist aufmerksam und das Personal freundlich. Insgesamt eine empfehlenswerte Wahl für Liebhaber indischer Küche.

Wir waren zur Mittagszeit dort. Preis-Leistung Top, weil man nur die Hälfte fast zahlt. Vorher gibts einer gelbe Linsensuppe. War lecker. Man kriegt auch Nachschlag (Reis), wenn man nett fragt. Fand das so freundlich. Vegetarische Gerichte super lecker. Ich hatte Mater Paneer. Das war rotes Curry mit indischem Käse und erbsen. Ich finde da kann ruhig auch ein bisschen Gemüse noch hinzu. War fast nur sauce. War lecker geschmacklich, würde aber das nächste Mal etwas anderes nehmen. Service war nett. Toiletten sauber!

Hatte am Samstag dort eine Weihnachtsfeier organisiert.....Alles im Allem einfach alles Top gewesen...Essen einfach mega lecker .....Preisleistung geht sowas von in Ordnung...werde definitiv wieder kommen

Das Ambiente ist wirklich sehr schön. Papadam als Vorspeise sehr wenig und das Essen leider sehr wenig gewürzt. Der Service war super, nur das Essen leider nicht nach unserem Geschmack.

Sehr schön eingerichtetes Restaurant, eine Mischung aus indisch und modern. Die Gerichte die ich bisher ausprobiert habe sind alle super lecker, die Portionen groß und das Personal professionell und freundlich. Immer wieder gerne!

We had lunch here. We ordered Chicken Biriyani, Vegetable Pulao, Tandoori Roti, Butter Chicken, Tandoori Chicken Kebab and Goa Lemonade. Food was good and portion size was also enough.

The Indian restaurant presents a delightful array of dishes, each boasting authentic flavors and high-quality ingredients. Although the menu is priced on the higher side, the culinary experience justifies the expense. The only drawback I've noted is the modest serving of rice that accompanies the entrees. While additional rice is available upon request at no extra charge, there tends to be a wait for it, which can interrupt the dining experience. A more generous initial serving of rice would be much appreciated.

Hier habe ich das allerbeste Lamm-Curry gegessen! (Nr. 40) Speisen frisch, toll gewürzt, klasse im Geschmack. Der Reis hat eine sehr gute Konsistenz und wird bei Bedarf auch nachgereicht. Das Fleisch war butterzart, die Portion wirklich gut. Bin total begeistert. Achtung: Wer scharf bestellt, bekommt auch scharf ;) Personal sehr freundlich. Essen kam schnell. Das Ambiente ist ein Mix aus traditionellen, indischen Elementen und modernem Lounge-Stil. Ich komme wieder.

Wir fanden das Essen lecker, jedoch empfanden wir die Portionsgröße als unzureichend und wurden nicht satt. Außerdem erschienen uns die Preise für die Speisen als zu hoch, vor allem in Anbetracht der Portionsgröße. Der Service und das Ambiente waren gut.

Der Laden macht einen sauberen Eindruck. War auch relativ voll auf einen Freitag Abend. Service kann man nicht meckern, waren freundlich und zwischendurch kam der Chef und hat auch gefragt ob alles ok sei.

Ein nettes kleines indisches Restaurant mit sehr nettem Personal. Die Currysuppe mit Hähnchen als Vorspeise war sehr gut 👌 als Hauptspeise hatte ich Butter Chicken auch dieses war sehr gut und lecker. Absolut empfehlenswert! Leider habe ich den Namen des Cocktails vergessen aber dieser war mit Gin und Koriander und hatte ich so noch nie getrunken …10 Punkte 👌

Waren gestern Abend spontan essen. Haben kurzfristig online reserviert ohne Probleme. Sehr nette, sympathische, aufmerksame Bedienung. Wir hatten Hauptgerichte mit Lamm, Hähnchen und vegetarisch. Alles super lecker. Zu jedem Gericht wird Reis serviert. Eine große Portion war nicht genug, wir haben dann noch eine zweite bestellt, die uns schnell gebracht wurde. Danach hatten wir noch Nachtisch, was auch sehr gut war. Es hat uns allen sehr gut geschmeckt. Gerne wieder, um andere Gerichte zu probieren. Empfehlenswert mit 5 Sternen.

Wir waren schon sehr oft hier es ist einfach nur lecker und man wird satt.Nettes Personal. Wir essen immer das 4 Gänge Menü und sind jedes Mal begeistert. Man kann es nur empfehlen.

Excellent service mais déçu, aucune saveur indienne dans les deux plats, nous n’avons pas senti le goût des épices , le lait de coco. Le plat épicé n’était pas épicé , le riz basmati sans saveur. Ils nous ont proposé quand même de commander autre chose pour se rattraper mais trop tard!
