Sencha Sushi Bar & Restaurant in Hamburg

Food was amazing, really recommendable. Would love to visit again for sure! Please understand that I personally have a high expectation regarding service. This part can be improved a bit, I think. But overall, Sencha is a real hidden gem in Hafencity.

Unfortunately very disappointing. We had to wait 50 minutes for our drinks. We were simply ignored. The service is rather bad. Unfortunately not recommended. Food was good, but nothing special and completely overpriced. The competition offers more for less money!

We were in a hurry before going to a concert. We were immediately given a nice seat at the bar and, at our request, the food very quickly. great, very friendly and attentive service. The sushi was excellent, fresh, crispy, delicious - high quality ingredients and imaginatively put together and prepared. really very good. Modern, spacious atmosphere. Next time we'll take more time.

I'm really shocked at how this store operates. The service is incredibly slow, not attentive enough and sometimes doesn't know much about the food. Drinks were no longer carbonated. The dishes are carelessly prepared at ATRONOMIC PRICES. We paid almost €100 for a sushi plate (vegetarian) and a dessert as well as two drinks. The prices correspond to the high quality, the sushi corresponds to the maximum delivery service level. The dessert was colored blue without any indication on the menu and had a stale taste and contained old rice. Since the waitress never asked us how it tasted, we paid without comment and left. NEVER AGAIN!

We visited Sensha Sushi Bar & Restaurant with a group of six for lunch. The food was consistently delicious. I had miso soup, a small salad, teriyaki duck signature rolls and rice with fresh chicken. Everything was wonderfully prepared and tasted excellent. The peppermint tea was prepared in a traditional way, which left a good impression. The menu is clearly laid out, which makes choosing easier. The four different menus are particularly practical, each with its own QR code – two for drinks and two for food. This makes it easy to access the desired map quickly and easily. The value for money is excellent and you get really good food for the money. A small downside was the service. The service seemed a little overwhelmed by the number of guests, which was noticeable in our group. Even though she tried her best, little things like asking for salt sometimes took up to five minutes. This is understandable considering that there may have been a shortage of staff. With an additional person in the team, a noticeable reduction in workload could be achieved, which would make the guest experience even more pleasant. It is important to emphasize that the waitress really did her best and the situation was not due to her efforts. Overall, Sensha Sushi Bar & Restaurant is a good choice for delicious sushi and a pleasant atmosphere. With a small adjustment in personnel management, the experience could be even better.

Super tasty. Shines with extraordinary compositions. Not run-of-the-mill sushi and of fantastic quality. Of course the whole store is also an eye-catcher. Unfortunately we were only there at lunchtime, but I can imagine that the bar atmosphere in the evening would create completely different impressions. We will definitely come back.

I had dinner at Sencha with my husband today. We felt very taken care of. The service was just great. She gave us great tips and gave us very good advice. She was very attentive, which is unfortunately not a given today. Thank you for the lovely evening.

I took a master selection set and it was amazing, I was impressed by amount of fish they put in rolls and sushi. Moreover their location is very nice and a waitress named Sepideh was very professional and friendly. I will definitely come again:)

We came to the restaurant on a Saturday evening to test the sushi hot dog that was advertised on Instagram. However, we were told on site that this was a lunch menu and that it would only be available during the week. However, it didn't even appear on the menu. What we saw on the menu, however, was that the prices were terribly expensive. €23 for 8 sushi rolls is absolutely excessive. The sushi can be so good. However, the service and the ambience were very good - but still not convincing enough to eat something there.

It was perfect all around. The waitress was amazing, explained everything really well, asked about allergies and things we didn't like and asked if it tasted good. Her name was Sepideh. Really great young lady, was very happy about her tip and was really grateful. The food was great. There were two of us and we had this mix for 2 at a hefty price of almost €100, but not only did it taste very delicious, the sushi was also special because of ingredients that you don't normally see in sushi. Potatoes, caviar, gold leaf and spray, almonds etc. In addition, the food came to the table pretty quickly with a fog. Great and generous arrangement, great service, very nice shop. Would like to give more stars!

We arrived in Hamburg on Sunday afternoon and had dinner there. The portions and the service (Mrs. Ashami?) were very, very nice, helpful and courteous! The food was really great so we had nothing to complain about! Gladly again!

We were there for lunch and ordered the Thai curry with chicken (€12) and the “sushi lunch special” (€20). The food was very tasty and impressed us. Good combination of spice and sweetness with a certain freshness, very successful. The staff were courteous and friendly. The restaurant is attractively furnished and clean. Clear recommendation.

Good lunch in a nice atmosphere. We were here for the first time. The lunch options are really good value. The food tastes good, but seems a bit bland in some places. If a little more conviction comes into play here, it's a real hit. The staff was friendly and paying with a credit card was no problem. Everything was clean and tidy.

Unfortunately, our visit was marred by the poor service. The young lady welcomed us in an annoyed manner; the four of us didn't feel very welcome. After we asked where we could sit, there was no concrete answer. My wife ultimately decided on a seat herself. We were told that she didn't want to go that far. Great offer, quality 10/10. There were three of us there and we had tuna tartare, spicy edamame and tuna sashimi as starters. The main course was a platter for 3 people. Really more than enough for 3 normal guests. We definitely left the store full and satisfied. Completely justified in terms of price. By far our favorite sushi restaurant in Hamburg.

Thank you for the great food and the great ambience. Very very tasty. We were here with my 3 children (6 years, 8 years + 10 years) and the children were already asking when we could go to Sencha again. I can only warmly recommend it to everyone.

We had sushi here a few weeks ago and were unfortunately disappointed. The allergens are marked on the menu, but the waitress was unable to help when asked. Specifically, it was about which ingredient in a sushi roll is responsible for which allergen, which you ultimately had to find out for yourself by comparing different dishes. In addition, some of the labeling was incorrect; for example, a roll with cream cheese was not labeled with milk. In general, the service needs improvement - the cutlery was only placed on the edge of the table and pushed over listlessly. The icing on the cake was the payment, where after mentioning the amount, all I got was “Is that how it should be done?”; at this point at the latest, I actually didn’t want to give any more tips. However, the food itself wasn't convincing either; it sounded good on the menu, but the taste was rather bland and didn't really look good either. All I can say is that you can eat much better for significantly less money.

Good sushi with limitations Sashimi salmon tasted a bit “fishy”. The portions of the nigiri were good. The service could be more attentive and not come to the table after waving and telling you three times. In the end it was too expensive for what was offered. Still after just 4 stars

For me the best sushi restaurant in Hamburg. The sushi is always a culinary delight. When we are there, we prefer to order the mixed platters, and the a la chef one is also highly recommended. If I could give more stars, I would easily give 10 ❤️. See you soon 😋

Terrible! Poorly trained staff! Nothing is really Japanese there! The tables are not set...looks more like a fast food restaurant. The young shift manager was incredibly rude! Luckily we left before eating... it had nothing to do with sushi flair! I definitely can't recommend it!

Small but fine sushi restaurant. The service was good, but still has room for improvement. On the one hand, the ladies always spoke very quietly, on the other hand, the constant asking at the beginning about the order lessened towards the end and ordering further drinks was a bit difficult. The food itself is absolutely top class with attention to detail. The portions (mix for 1) are very comprehensive and versatile - highly recommended!

By far the best sushi shop in Hamburg!!! Simply a dream, both in terms of taste and craftsmanship. The service is friendly and accommodating. Just to feel good!! Price performance is right and the selection is simply mega. I will gladly come again !

Nice atmosphere, reasonable service and very, very tasty sushi. The prices for the food are not entirely unreasonable, the drinks were okay in terms of prices. We had the sushi selection for 2 people. It's expensive at €95 but really incredibly good. It's not run-of-the-mill sushi as you know it, but rather special rolls that taste really good and are presented in a great way. I particularly found the sashimi very, very good, incredibly tender and noticeably fresh. The ginger was freshly cut and the wasabi seemed homemade and not too spicy. Highly recommended. This isn't the right place for a little sushi adventure in between. But if you like something a little more unusual and want to try different sushi, you should definitely stop by here. The surcharge is decent, but we didn't feel ripped off.

We spontaneously went to Sencha on July 3rd, without a reservation! We asked and we got a table, the service was very friendly!!! The sushi were all TOP!! Very well balanced in terms of taste!! We can only recommend this and look forward to the next visit!! Thanks to the entire team!! For the great evening you gave us 🙏

I'm not a sushi lover myself and have never eaten it before, but I dared to do so at the respected restaurant Sencha. This restaurant is simply indescribable, from the service to the food. Please keep it up!! Simply cannot be explained in words!!

As always, a great experience, I'm always surprised by a new sushi variation! The location is an A+ with its “real” cherry blossom tree. For me there is nothing to complain about except that the Hamburg weather isn't good and I can't eat on the terrace. See you soon, keep it up!

Last night I had the pleasure of visiting one of the best sushi restaurants and I am still amazed by the experience. From the moment I entered the restaurant I felt welcome and cared for. The ambience was inviting and stylish, perfect for a relaxing evening. The sushi selection was impressive and offered a variety of fresh and creative options. Each bite was a taste experience in itself, the quality of the ingredients and the artistry of the preparation were evident. I would particularly like to highlight the nigiri and the special rolls, which were impressive both visually and in terms of taste. The service was first class: attentive, friendly and quick. The staff were always willing to make recommendations and ensure everything was to our satisfaction. It was clear that they care about the well-being of their guests. All in all, this was an excellent evening and I would highly recommend this sushi restaurant. I'm looking forward to coming back soon!

We were there today, the sushi was absolutely delicious...Unfortunately our service lady was totally overwhelmed, unfriendly, no idea about the subject, I expect reasonable service for the price range.

Very good food. Everything is made fresh. You have to accept the waiting time but it's worth it!!

Sencha Sushi is without question very beautifully decorated and great emphasis is also placed on perfection when preparing the food. After all, the eye eats too. There are different seating areas with different flair. You have a view of the sushi bar from most of the tables. The sushi itself is really tasty and the ingredients are high quality. I had already read in advance that you have to be prepared for longer waiting times. Unfortunately, in my case this meant that even a warm dish on the counter cooled down completely before it reached our table. The processes still need to be adjusted a bit here. Another minus for me were the absolutely oversweet non-alcoholic cocktails, like a mix of juice and syrup in a glass with a sugar rim and a sticky stem. That's why one star less for the food at this point. But that's whining at a very high level. The service is very friendly and attentive.

The lunch menu is highly recommended. For around 20 euros you get a rice bowl, California rolls, miso soup and a small salad. Everything was very tasty and absolutely inexpensive. The service was courteous and there were only a few guests there at lunchtime, so you had a free choice of seats.

Relatively small shop with (Japanese reserved / unobtrusive) service and top quality food. A small negative point is the lack of a hardware menu (only digital via QR code). However, you can get a tablet if necessary. We didn't think the prices were excessive and were absolutely justified given the quality offered.

I saw the store's recommendation from the mayor. Now I've tried it myself and I'm one hundred percent thrilled with everything. I can only recommend it myself. Will definitely come back.

My first visit, so i made a booking , as well i had special occasions to celebrate so i booked as special occasion ( so i was expecting to have nice table seat). At the entrance i showed my reservation and the waitress took us to the small table next to the restroom although window tables were free and clients after us were offered seats we’re they would like to seat ( i felt a bit cheated,because at the reservations i mentioned specifically occasions). After few minutes we saw opportunity and we changed the table. We ordered mix for 2, sushi design was really nice, but i think sushi needed more flavor. During the service we had a different waitress , I didn’t notice her name but she was really nice and was speaking English. Atmospheres was nice, calm and the interior is pretty.

Warmest recommendation! We were looked after wonderfully and the sushi, ramen and drinks were delicious. (We come from 5-star gastronomy and think we can judge that.)

Food OK. Ambience cool but uncomfortable. Overall, rather expensive. Happy hour has a catch, because when ordering the drinks you have to explicitly point out that you are ordering them during happy hour. We didn't do that and the billing was normal. I think it's quite a rip off!! Like in other stores, this should be a given if it is advertised on the menu with the day and time…

I definitely recommend it. I ate the best sushi and sashimi I've had in a long time. We went as two people. Our menu was as follows, we ordered a little too much and had a hard time finishing it :) salmon sashimi, scallops, black tiger, truffle sushi and wagu sushi - it was the best plate of the night.

A good restaurant, nothing to complain about. The meals were priced at the “upper level” but were excellently prepared. We were lucky enough to get a 4-person table for two; with 4 people it could be tight. The tables for two are very tight if you order several small main courses. For the short-sighted, I recommend taking an iPad or reading glasses with you, as you have to download the menu using a QR code....black background of the menu with delicate writing could become a guessing game ;-)...but as it is Everything else mentioned was great.

Since we were getting tired of Tyo Tyo and you already know all the other sushi restaurants in Hamburg like Henssler, East, Clouds, Nikki etc., we tried Sencha. We ordered the Chef Mix for 2 people and somehow all the rolls tasted almost the same, so we weren't impressed with the taste, although the quantity was sufficient and filling. The young female waiter was initially attentive. Afterwards we just got the second bottle of rosé on the table without a cooler. I went to the front and asked for a cooler with ice cubes. Then this female waiter wanted to clear the table while we were still eating. The highlight was when the newly acquired cooler with the wine was suddenly cleared away, even though the bottle wasn't yet empty and we hadn't turned it upside down as usual, of course we said then, but it was empty... And 10 minutes before 10 p.m. she blew out the candle and started cleaning our table with her rag and sprayer, even though we were still finishing the wine. Rarely have you felt so welcome. That for just under €200 for 2 people. That was the first and last time we visited this location. We then went over to the Boilermann Bar and experienced excellent service there, which saved our evening.

Saturday evening without the usual reservation we still got a table for 4 people after a short wait. The staff tried very hard. The food and service was simply great.

Friendly service, the food was good. There are now so many shops that offer extremely good sushi that I don't know whether I would drive to Hafencity specifically to eat sushi here. But if you're in the area, you can definitely try Sencha. I assume that the price-performance ratio is probably normal for Hafencity levels…

We went there as a family through some insta recommendations, and as soon as we entered the store it started straight away An unfriendly, arrogant, derogatory manner from the would-be waiter who thinks he is someone else Asked him if we could choose our own seat He said disparagingly “Wait, wait!” and then took the phone in his hand and called someone and we stood next to him As ordered and not picked up After 2-3 minutes of talking on the phone he turned back to us and showed us where we could sit... just anywhere... We left the store straight away, even my children aged 9 and 14 were shocked by the unfriendly, arrogant manner of the “waiter”. I don't recommend such stores to anyone These people first have to learn how to talk to people and how to treat customers and then they should think about whether they even want to work with customers.

Visited the restaurant on recommendation. When we entered the restaurant we were initially in a positive mood. The store was well attended. Unfortunately there was no classic card, just a scan code that didn't work outside at the entrance. Also difficult in the store, despite T-Mobile. It only worked with the guest WiFi. We had already selected a sushi set for just under €100 plus drinks. Unfortunately, after about 15-20 minutes at the table, we still weren't served or asked if we wanted to order something or were still looking. We then left the store straight away. There were enough staff on site and not completely overcrowded. Presumably in Hafencity/this restaurant (we were dressed normally and sensibly) you have to wear a suit, stand-up collar and scarf in order to be served. (This feeling was conveyed) I was prepared to pay between €150 and €200, but we didn't seem to be looking for that. Very superficial. Very unfortunate.

I was a bit skeptical coming here because some of the reviews were negative, however, we enjoyed the sushi and the restaurant’s atmosphere. The quality of the sushi was good, the sashimis were fresh, tender and tasted good. The girl that served us was nice, but I’m only giving it 4 stars because she was the only one waitering on all the tables tonight. I could see she was trying her best to serve and answer to everyone as quick as she could. So an advice to the owners: maybe hire more people. We still had good service and no major delays but we saw 1 person doing the job of 3.

Very tasty dishes. The staff was very nice and helpful 9/10. Atmosphere 9/10 because it can always be better. Salmon Tartare was simply divine in the mouth, very tender and delicious. Mix sashimi was very fresh and tasty. Scallop crudo were fresh and had an interesting flavor, but I'm not a fan of them. The creative sushi rolls were amazing. Croffle a'la Sencha is a very interesting and delicious dessert. I most recommend Salmon Tartare, Mix Sashimi, Sushi Rolls: Golden Sencha, Fire Tuna, Salmon Blossom.
