If I visit Frankfurt I will always come here to eat. The food is really good.

Malaysian food is very difficult to find in Germany, so I'm happy every time I have the opportunity to visit a Malaysian restaurant. Selara is located in the train station district, on a very busy street with mostly Middle Eastern shops. The building looks unkempt from the outside, but this applies to the entire street. However, the restaurant itself is very clean and spacious. The walls are decorated with pictures from everyday Malaysian life, and in some corners there are decorative objects from Malaysia. I didn't like the white walls in combination with the tiled floor as they convey a certain canteen atmosphere. The reception was friendly, but communication was exclusively on a pragmatic and functional level. I found the very loud conversations between the employees, which partially drowned out the conversation at my table, somewhat disturbing. I enjoyed the food very much. I ordered Char Kway Teow (fried flat rice noodles). I particularly liked the smoky note that came from the wok. The dish tasted exactly like I know it from Malaysia. The portion was generous and the price was also reasonable. I hope that my criticism will be taken to heart, the ambience will be further developed and more of the famous Malaysian warmth will be felt in the future. That would significantly enrich the already delicious meal.

Updated on 2025.4.23 I came to this restaurant again. The restaurant is very close to the train station. If you drive, because the area around the train station is quite chaotic, try to park in the underground garage of the train station, and then walk to the restaurant in 3 minutes. The restaurant opened in 2013. There are many regular diners in the restaurant and there is an endless stream of customers. This time I ordered roasted duck and vegetarian stir-fried water spinach. The roasted duck comes in different sizes. It has a roasted meat flavor, is fresh and sweet, moderately soft and hard, has a rich texture, and has a hint of fermented bean curd. It scores 4.7 points. The quality of the dishes is still reliable. The service staff can speak German, Cantonese and Mandarin, and proactively adjust sun-protected seats according to customer needs. The restroom is under maintenance this time, so it's a little inconvenient. Overall 4.6/5 __________________ There were a lot of people eating, and they ordered the dry-fried beef river. The taste is slightly sweet, the beef is thick, and the portion is large. It comes steaming hot, 4.5 points

I picked up a piece of Hainanese chicken rice while I was in the car. The store owner was straightforward and friendly. He served the meal quickly and asked me about my hard journey. The portion of the rice is sufficient, a little salty, but the flaws are not outweighed. It is definitely the first choice to eat Chinese food in France.

You can eat delicious Chinese and Asian food 🙆‍♀️ Ordered fried rice, fried shrimp, water spinach, and fish. Everything was delicious!

One of the few Chinese restaurants near the train station. Overall it tastes good. However, the roast duck meat is not very silky. The shrimps were huge, 6 in total, but they were not authentic samba flavor, with too much tomato sauce added to them.

I'm so speechless... It's such a noisy environment. The boss lady and the staff are two meters away from the back. They have been sorting the dishes, chopsticks and cutlery for an hour from beginning to end. The sound is so loud that you can't hear the people opposite you. The atmosphere is really scary. ... Pay attention!

Everything here is always SO delicious, especially the salty egg prawns. Mouthwatering and perfect. Just wish the prices weren’t on the steep side, but we always leave very happy and full.

Due to the popularity of the restaurant, it is advisable to reserve a table in advance to avoid waiting times. The prices are fair and reflect the quality of the food on offer. A visit here is like a culinary short trip to Southeast Asia - without having to board a plane.

This was by far the most satisfying meal I've had in Frankfurt. The piping hot dishes were exactly what I needed after a week of Western food in the winter. The Malaysian owner and staff were incredibly friendly as well. They gave me a free Bubur Cha Cha knowing that I came from Malaysia. I highly recommend it to anyone craving authentic Asian cuisine while in Frankfurt. It's just a 6-minute walk from Frankfurt Hbf.

We regularly go to this restaurant when we're craving authentic dim sum and have never been disappointed. The food is always fresh, tasty and of high quality. We are particularly impressed by the variety of dim sum dishes every time. The furnishings are rather simple, but that doesn't bother us because the warm and friendly nature of the owners makes us feel welcome every time. The service is always attentive and the atmosphere is pleasant. We can only recommend this restaurant for anyone who values ​​good food and wants to enjoy authentic dim sum!

Delicious and authentic Malaysian restaurant. We had: duck, stuffed vegetables and kangkung belacan - taste just like in Malaysia! Char Kuew tiaw was not so authentic but still tasty. I hope they serve authentic Malaysian dessert in near future. Will definitely be back to try other dishes. Friendly and fast service.

First of all, beer, bean bones, and beef heather leaves (Chinese steamed senmai) . It was the first time I had seen or tasted Gyuhakuha, but since I love senmai, I was so impressed! Also, shrimp cloud soup. The wonton soup was inspired by Hong Kong's wonton soup, but it was a little different, but it was still a delicious soup, and the bok choy was hot. Food is pretty authentic and always tasty. Love coming back every now and then for their teh tarik and yum cha, but overall their dishes are all good. The roast duck or kwetiau are one of my favs as well, but just have a try yourself.

We (4 Singaporeans and a M’sian) have been traveling for 3 weeks! So glad we found this - quite the best meal for our last night in Germany. The premire Malaysian Zhi Char is really awesome. Truly felt like a piece of home 🏡. Recommend the dishes we had ( steamed fish, Yong tau fu, belachan kangkong, Assam prawn and Hainanese chicken rice!) *****

Food is awesome! I have to review while having my delicious Hainanese Chicken Rice. So Malaysian. The soup is heaven. Feels like home. Portion is big for me. I asked for a small portion of roasted pork as side dish and it is still big. Thanks for the hospitality!

Heute stimmte mal wieder alles: Service und Essen - wie (fast) immer: sehr gut und auch mal wieder sehr gut abgeschmeckt. Auch gab es wieder die kleine Aufmerksamkeit am Schluss, die es zuletzt nur nach Tageslaune der Bedienung gab. Aber dieses Mal stimmte wieder alles.

I was ordered Hainan Rice. Its taste was delicious. The staffs are freundlich!

They have mice. We were eating and suddenly saw a mouse running around, and after 5 minutes another one.

The food fresh, simple, and flavorful. The service was accommodating and quick. The dinning area could use a nice top down refurb. The restrooms were tidy and stocked.

Friends who are not vegetarians say it’s great! If you are a vegetarian, you can talk to the boss lady in advance and she can make vegetarian flavors. There are only a few vegetarian options, but her vegetarian braised tofu pot is very delicious😋 It doesn’t taste salty. Again, it doesn’t taste salty at all! It's also delicious without rice. Very suitable for Taiwanese tastes! Highly recommended!

Must visit if you go to Frankfurt. What's delicious is kale, fish (cooked in any way) and all dim sum. The Hainanese Chicken Rice is also okay.

As a malaysian, i think the food is relatively disappointing even i have lowered my standard knowing it will not be 1 to 1 same like in malaysia. But the food just tasted like overnight food, the roasted pork and char siu were salty and hard to chew. Char kuay teow (signature fried rice noodle) is oily and they used the wrong thickness of rice noodle — too thick to chew. The flavour of ckt is on spot tho. And the portion is quite huge — better for sharing

Was super excited to try the restaurant, but was unfortunately disappointed by the food. I ordered wok-fried flat noodle with beef. The portion was generous, but it was flavorless, which was very unlike Malaysian food. At least the beef was easy to chew. Maybe I just got a bad batch, so I will give this restaurant another chance if I am in the area again, since I want to support Malaysian food and know that it is usually much better than what I received.

The store lacks style. I only wanted to refill the chrysanthemum tea once and then refused to refill it. The lid was placed on the teapot as if I didn't see it. You are also Cantonese, so you should be very clear about the custom of uncovering the lid and refilling the water. Not only did we pay in cash, but we also gave a standard tip. It was around 8 pm and almost 9 pm, and all the big tables in the store were empty, so I didn’t understand why the customers were being turned away. My friend came to Germany to chat with him for a while, and it didn't stop you from getting off work. Even if you serve the guest a pot of boiled water, it's better than ignoring it. The older generation of restaurant workers in Germany generally have a low profile.

The takeaway experience was terrible. The driver and the restaurant owner blamed each other and there was no result in the end. So funny so absurd and so ridiculous.

Da ich meistens immer innerhalb einer kleiner Auswahl esse, war ich heute wieder von der Wan-Tan/Tischbällchen Nudelsuppe. Heute stimmte wieder alles. Gute Brühe und netter Service. Als Schluss-Goodie gab es einen Pudding, den man sehr selten in einem Restaurant bekommt: eher, wenn man seine Großmutter besucht.

I need to say this restaurant is overpriced. This is typical Chinese food with highprice. I was expecting Malaysia cousine. I have been many times to Malysia and this has nothing to do with local food.

The food is fine. just the customer service is sometimes quite bad. There is a problem with their POS machine and the old man throw my bank card away. Might be they think i will not pay for the meal i guess :)

If you want to eat rice rolls with pork and beans, can the store arrange one for 😭69.8 for three dishes ➕ two drinks (salted lemon seven ➕ frozen lemon tea). A change of route led me to see a CELERY sign nearby. And this is one of our favorite root crops. We visited the restaurant and stayed without hesitation. Pleasant interior, friendly, hospitable Asian waitresses, and most importantly - visitors. Also, they are obviously from the countries of Southeast Asia. This usually speaks of the authenticity and quality of national cuisine. And we were not mistaken. I'm unlikely to ever get to Malaysia? And now he made a real "culinary journey". Considering the size of the portions, and most importantly - the exquisite taste, the prices in the restaurant cannot be considered high. The two of us had fun, spent only 36 euros. I highly recommend it.

We had 3 dishes here , a noodle chicken soup , beef and radish cakes. Plus a water. (Total price around 47Eur - 06.2024) All were super delicious 😋 Don't be fooled by the simple atmosphere here, the food tasted great and I will definitely come back. The soup had a rich texture and nice flavors. The beef was tender and nicely seasoned. Prices are not cheap, but fair for a restaurant in this area.

Wenn ich jedes Mal in Frankfurt bin, würde man denken, ich bin nur für dieses Restaurant hier. Mein good to go food sind die Eierblumennudeln. My hometown is Zhejiang. Every time I go to this Malay Chinese restaurant, I can try dishes I have never had before. I especially like the smooth egg pho.

First time had lunch there , hainan chicken was good. Didn’t realize they only accept card payment for minimum amount of €20. They were still willing to take card payment for me without any hassle. Very friendly.

It was the first time for a person to eat here, and I felt that maybe it would be better for three or four people to order more dishes. The price is right and the quantity is large. The orange juice turned out to be very thick, great review! The waiters are also very friendly and can speak Chinese directly.

When I came to Europe, I tried many Chinese restaurants. This is the best one. It is very authentic and worth eating here often. And the price is fair.

I love eating at Selera since it gives me a feel of my home country :) However i think it is just too expensive to charge a group who just want a pot of tea. So a pot of tea for one person costs 4.50€ but a pot of tea (which is the same size) for 5 person costs 22.5€. If that is so, then we would have just ordered one pot of tea for each of us. Just my opinion :)

Great Malaysian restaurant to visit. The menu was a mixed of Malaysian & Chinese food. They have seafood menu too. Tasty & enjoyable, although some menu could be a bit salty for some people.

[UPDATED] I went here with a friend. And we had mini spring rolls as a starter 6/10 (I think it was tasteless). I had nasi lemak (coconut milk rice) with rendang (beef) 8.5/10 — coconut rice was nice, rendang was pretty spicy but for me it was really good so it was very tasty! The friend had Nasi Lemak with squid 8/10 — it was also delicious but I prefer it with the beef. We also had kangkong (water spinach) 8/10. Homemade Ice Tea 8.5/10 was very fresh and I like it👌🏻 Grilled duck 8.5/10 — I ordered a 'small portion' and it's still too big for me😂 the sauce tastes right down to the meat inside, i.e. it marinated well, duck skin was crispy as it should, delicious! 👌🏻 Seafood Claypot 8/10 — there were clams, tofu, shrimp, fish so complete and delicious👌🏻 Try Nasi Goreng Sambal 7.5/10, and also Hainan Chicken Rice 8/10 (the sauce was awesome) Chicken Feet Dimsum 9/10 megaaa! Inners Dimsum a friend told me good, I didn't try it because I don't like it👀 Siomay 8/10 were too small but tasted good. T18 dough filled with shrimps 10/10 excellent!! I can eat all my life🤤 Sambal Udang 9.5/10 super aromatic and well seasoned, good spiciness, there was a lot of shrimp too. Nasi Lemak ayam 8/10 I thought it was good but beef rendang was better😁 Various dimsum average 8/10 Crispy pork belly 7.8/10 could have been crispier but were very well seasoned. I really liked Kwetiaw Goreng with seafood 8.5/10, super tasty! Come here too!

I recommend the Bbq Pork and Hainanese Chicken Rice. The stir-fried Gongsimchae is of course delicious. They even give you fruit for dessert! It seems to be run by a Chinese from Southeast Asia. If you like Cantonese food or want to eat laksa, you will be satisfied if you come here.

Die Preise sind im neuen Jahr etwas angezogen. Aber nicht so extrem wie in anderen Restaurants. Einige meiner Lieblingsgerichte sind wohl weggefallen. Ich habe wieder Hühnchen Hainan bestellt. Es war gut wie immer, aber irgendwie hatte der Kellner nicht so die richtige Lust. Ich war der erste Gast und bekam einen Katzentisch. Und als die Suppe serviert wurde, nicht mal einen asiatischen Löffel. Sonst gab es immer noch einen Goodie am Schluss aber auch hier gab es dieses Mal wieder nichts. Ich weiß auch nicht, warum ich mir das jedes Mal antue. Ich muss masochistisch veranlagt sein. Aber andere konnten mich bisher nicht überzeugen doch besser zu sein (im Verhältnis zum Preis).

I’ve been here many times and always refer my friends to come here for the good food and friendly service. But I don’t know what happened today the personnel was being super RUDE and RACIST with my colleagues. Usually they bring us some fruits and desserts after meal (like always) for free and today I asked too. The owner said (more like yelled), it’s only for our CHINESE clients and we are doing this for YOUR favor and we don’t serve FOREIGNERS our desserts. We are not obligated. What this this racist comment? and this conversation happened after a waiter SPILLED FOOD on ME 😡

The malaysian / indonesian dishes here are so aunthentic and tasty! Some menu even tastier than the one i ate in my hometown lol Crispy calamari ( cumi goreng tepung) 10/10 it serves with some veggies. I dont know why its sooooo good Cakwe goreng 7.5/10 its crispy but doesnt have rich taste, just soy sauce Hainan rice with pig 8/10 not a fan of pig but it tastes great. A little crowded (you might have to wait to be seated) but personel there is super sweet and the food is absolutely amazing!! Prices range from abt. 15 - 20 Euros per dish. There is so much to choose from, too! I recommend the water spinach with garlic, that was everybody's favorite! We'll be back for sure!

On NYE, I opted for takeaway due to the restaurant being busy. They refuse to prepare anything from the dim sum menu since the kitchen was busy, that was understandable. I ordered two meals from the main menu, paid, and informed them I'd return in 20 minutes. When I returned, the lady informed me that one of the ordered meals was sold out. After all that time I waited. To my surprise, I noticed the meal on the table of a couple who arrived after me but chose to dine in. Was she expecting me to share 1 meal meant for two people? It ruined my evening, I refused to wait any more minute. Waste of time.

Es ist wie ein chinesische Restaurant, denn sagt man immer Nihao. Auch die Speisekarte ist überwiegend chinesisch und nicht malaysisch. Hainanischer Hühnerreis ist genau richtig, das Huhn ist zart und der Reis ist reichhaltig. Allerdings enttäuschte mich das Gericht mit gedämpften Hähnchenfüßen wegen seines unklaren Geschmacks. Auch gebratene Rippchen sind nicht gut. Das Essen kommt schnell und der Service ist schnell, aber vielleicht nicht freundlich
