Seestern in Norden

The fish was absolutely delicious 😋 The fried potatoes were crispy and perfectly seasoned! The service was incredibly friendly and attentive! All in all, a very nice restaurant!

We spent another week in Norddeich at the beginning of October and, as always, ate at the Seestern. Once again, we weren't disappointed. The fish was incredibly tender and delicious! The ambiance and service were excellent. The only slight drawback was the fried potatoes, which we'd deduct one star for. They tasted great, but were sometimes too dark and therefore too crispy. However, to the chef's credit, this isn't always the case. We'll be back. Another tip: Try standing at the bar in the evening. You'll quickly strike up a conversation, and it's very cozy there. .... Update: We were back in June 2018. And now it gets its fifth star!!! Everything was absolutely delicious, and the fried potatoes were cooked to perfection this time. But that's just a side note. The main point remains: Every fish dish is top-notch. And we tried almost everything in 14 days. So, what are you waiting for? Go! ... And I've done it again! I vacationed in Norddeich and ate at the "Seestern" again (several times). I could have simply copied my previous experiences at this point, because it was phenomenally good again! I did try other restaurants for a change, but I always come back to the "Seestern." Because: It doesn't get any better. Believe it or not, in August I got in my car early one morning and spent a day in Norddeich. Food? ...Seestern. I don't know how they do it there. It is and remains outstanding! I just had the impression that the portions had gotten a bit smaller. But still perfectly adequate.

Simply fantastic!!! Highly recommended! A great selection of North German coastal cuisine. Fish, meat, and traditional dishes like Labskaus (a traditional North German dish) and kale were on the menu at the beginning of November 2025. I opted for the Labskaus and wasn't disappointed. Instead of rollmops, it came with proper fillets of matjes herring and Bismarck herring, plus all the traditional accompaniments. The Barre Bräu beer, fresh from the tap, was a perfect match, and the "Lümmel" (a caraway liqueur from Hamburg) at the end rounded off the evening nicely. The staff are incredibly friendly and very personable, with a pleasant manner and demeanor. You might want to allow some extra time or reserve a table in advance (if you're in a group), as the Seestern is very popular, and you might have to wait in line outside until a table becomes available. BUT the wait is absolutely worth it!!!

It's a great restaurant with a lovely atmosphere. Our meal was phenomenal. If it's full, you have to wait outside. But we didn't have to wait too long. It's definitely worth the wait. The staff is very friendly. I would give it more stars if I could.

Very attentive and humorous staff serve a wide variety of fish prepared in the best possible way - all in a very cozy, yet modern-looking atmosphere!

The food was good. There are no table reservations; you either get a table or you don't. The restaurant smelled strongly of grease, so we ate at the beer table outside. The server was prompt, funny, and had everything under control. We were satisfied.

I rarely write reviews, but here it simply has to be. You can't make reservations, but you have to wait for a free table. We did, and I would do it again. The staff was super friendly. And don't forget that they've had a long season. We waited a good 20 minutes for a free table for four. We had barely placed our drink orders when they were already at the table. For dinner, we had fish, meat, and salad. All four dishes were absolutely excellent. The soup as a starter was also excellent. From our perspective, a visit here is highly recommended. From the friendly staff to the excellent food—a 100% successful evening! We'll be back and will be promoting it heavily.

Waiting time is always included and is usually okay. Although we were first in line with seven people, we were pushed back four times and had to wait an hour. This could have been handled differently. The price/performance ratio for the location and the staff, as we've come to expect, was excellent.

This restaurant truly deserves a glowing recommendation. ​You feel welcome as soon as you enter, but what makes the visit truly unforgettable is the service. The waiters are simply fantastic! We were served by Marc, who was attentive, friendly, incredibly fast, and always with a genuine smile. I have rarely experienced such a perfectly coordinated and dedicated team. You can tell that hospitality is truly lived here. ​And the food? Simply outstanding! The kitchen delivers on its promises. Whether it's fish specialties or the other North German delicacies (which are also available here), everything is of the highest quality, super fresh, and perfectly prepared. The portions are generous (with options for small, regular, and extra-large!), and every dish is a delight. You can taste the love and freshness of the ingredients. ​Conclusion: If you're in the area, you have to visit Restaurant Seestern. Friendly staff, child-friendly; we received a wonderful welcome and service with our 2.5-year-old child. The food was delicious, the fish selection is huge, and you can choose your portion size. We think that's great. The location near the beach is also ideal! We will go again.

We were here for the third time today. This time with three adults and a small child. The meal took quite a while, and some of the neighboring tables that arrived after us had already received their food. Since we also only ordered a fish dish, we were worried that we'd been forgotten. So we politely asked one of the waiters (who hadn't served us yet). He immediately became loud and extremely rude. Not only was his behavior towards us completely inappropriate, he then went to the neighboring table and loudly insulted us. When the food was served, more rude comments were made. This behavior was completely incomprehensible, and the neighboring tables were also unpleasantly surprised. We lost our appetite for the food, but we tried it anyway. Two dishes were good, one (simple) fish dish was unfortunately completely inedible because it was so soft. We complained about this to the waiter who originally served us. For a bill of almost €90, there was absolutely no apology or compensation; all dishes were charged in full. We are extremely disappointed and will definitely not be coming back.

We were back in Norddeich this August and, of course, ate at the Seestern. It's a bit of a shame that they can't give more than 5 stars – the service and quality would have deserved 7 or 8. We'll definitely stop there next time we're in Norddeich and enjoy a delicious meal.

We've been to Seestern a few times. The waiters are all very friendly and always have a smile on their faces :) The food is also very delicious. I often had several questions about the food, and every time, they listened to me and answered my questions. The ambiance is maritime but neither kitschy nor over the top. I can wholeheartedly recommend Seestern :)

Great restaurant with delicious fish and meat dishes! The drinks are cold, the service friendly and prompt. The fish dishes are very well prepared, and for those with a small appetite, there are various portion sizes and sampler sizes. There's something for everyone.

We had the medium and barely managed to finish. The Labskaus is AMAZING!!! And the crab soup is amazing... Absolutely great value for money. No reservations possible. We went there four times in total during our vacation. I guess that's all we need to say, right?!?

We sat outside with our child and dog. The staff were extremely child- and dog-friendly. The food was excellent, and we were served all three dishes at the same time. The fish dishes in particular were lovingly prepared—just as they were served.

An absolute recommendation for every Norddeich visitor. Excellent food, a wide selection, custom requests are no problem at all, friendly and attentive service, and a chic, partly modern, maritime, and rustic ambiance. Nothing was left to be desired. We'd be happy to come back.

It's always good to eat there whenever we're in Norddeich. There's nothing better... We've been eating there for years. Today, August 31, 2025, my rum steak was burnt and I couldn't cut through it with a knife. The waitress said they'd take care of it right away, after 7 minutes. But the crab soup was great, as always.

Very tasty fish dishes and a wide selection. The portions are very generous. In retrospect, even a smaller portion would probably have filled me up quite a bit. Definitely recommended!

A top-notch restaurant for anyone who enjoys fish. Accordingly, it's always busy, so you might have to expect a bit of a wait. The staff were consistently friendly and very attentive. The food was excellent; the menu offers a variety of fish and a wide variety of dishes, so there's something for everyone. There are also a few meat dishes, although we didn't try any of them. The atmosphere is very cozy, with the beach right next door. Dogs aren't allowed in the dining room, but that's understandable given the sometimes narrow passageways.
