The restaurant is full of pork specialties from the Balkans. The cuisine has been excellent for decades. The meat is at the highest level. The pork knuckle is a must-try. The beer is local and excellent. The atmosphere is such that you don't want to stay longer than necessary, but that's okay. For every recommendation.

Excellent pork knuckle!!!!! Typical German service, but the food surpasses everything!!!!! I arrived early and didn't have to wait in line, but there's usually a wait.

I'm a regular customer and have always been satisfied. This time, however, I was very disappointed. They didn't have any mashed potatoes, which I had been looking forward to. The pork knuckle was extremely fatty and oversalted. Small parts of it were burnt. My partner had a currywurst, which I tried. It tasted of absolutely nothing. A friend of mine wanted a Krefelder (a type of currywurst). She had to ask for it and didn't get it. I hope things will be better next time.

WARNING SCAMMERS!! Where do I even start. The experience and service here was the worst. The food here is pretty average. I wouldn’t say it’s bad but definitely also not good. The sauce was a little bit too salty and the salad was really sour. But the worst experience is, they charged us service costs of 10% without letting us know. So there was no sign of it on the menu or anything. Afterwards, the waiter told us that in Germany it is normal to charge that. After leaving, I showed the city police that was across the street whether it is common in Germany to charge customers service costs. They told us no, and they told us we can get it back otherwise we can call the police for scamming. So we went back and told them what happened and they just threw the money on the table. So please, if you come across this place just turn around. They are scamming tourists.

The older blonde lady treats everyone like dirt. The others are good food too, but this lady is absolutely awful. She snarls at everyone as soon as you sit down for a second to wait for your food. She tells you that what you ordered isn't for eating there, even if you're just waiting and don't intend to eat there. You should reconsider your approach. Such unfriendly staff is detrimental to the rest of the crew.

At Schweine Janes in Düsseldorf's Old Town, they still serve freshly prepared pork knuckles – a rarity these days! Crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and incomparable to the often reheated dishes elsewhere. Served with delicious sauerkraut, cold beer, and a true Old Town atmosphere. Honest cooking, top quality – that's how a knuckle should taste!

The prices are very reasonable. You can watch the food being prepared. The staff is friendly and welcoming. Jane's is a must-go if you want good food and are in Düsseldorf. The food is absolutely delicious. Portion size is large. A little bit too crowded with not too much room. But besides that I enjoyed eating here.

This is my go to place in Düsseldorf for swine haxe. Comparing food quality, it’s too salty now compared to before. The 2 polish brothers aren’t there anymore.

The food was good. Nothing you have to try, but not bad either. It is what it is: good. Nothing more, nothing less. The service was extremely attentive, super fast, and absolutely lovely. It absolutely deserves 5 stars. The ambiance is cool. Right in the middle of the busy strip. Very old-fashioned but charming; you can sit outside even in the rain.

Pork roll to go without the crust. I wasn't even allowed to put my bag on a chair because someone thought I was going to eat my pork roll inside. Haha. Another attempt on 15/09/25, but gave up due to the aggressive, short-tempered behavior of the counter staff. Never again.

It was very delicious, reasonably priced, and the staff were friendly. The male staff member grilling the meat was especially friendly👍 I've had Schweinshaxe (steamed beef) a few times in Germany, but some places don't have much meat and the meat isn't tender. But the Schweinshaxe here was very tender, meaty, and the bones were well separated. It was absolutely delicious. And the Krautsalat, French fries, and mashed potatoes that came with the Beilage were all perfectly seasoned and delicious. Highly recommended!

Should have been a red flag that the place was empty on a Friday night. Service basically non-existent. Food mediocre at best, but not ghastly. Lavatories disgusting and no soap - so how do the staff wash hands properly? This final fact tipped the review to the lowest rating.

The "pork rolls" suddenly have much less meat and hardly any crust. They also have a high fat content. AND: The employee may be wearing gloves, but they're also collecting cash. Since many men don't wash their hands after using the restroom, it's easy to guess what you're eating. Too bad, it used to be good. Not so much anymore.

I have been eating here since 2013, but today is the most disappointing day for me. Not only are the orders slow, but even the white people who came later than us have already ordered. Small children are expected to eat adult portions!! otherwise you have to pay 8€ for an empty plate so that they can have something from your plate!!!

Stay away. This is the first place I’ve ever been where sharing a plate with your partner costs an extra 8 euros. Moreover, the pork knuckle tasted reheated, the side dishes seemed straight out of a can, and the staff spent more time chatting loudly with each other than paying attention to customers. If you value good service and fresh food, this is not the place for you.

The food is delicious—I've tried it before and was satisfied—but the service this time was unfortunately very unprofessional. The employee tried to sell us meat off the menu and constantly haggled over the price. When I asked if I could have meat without bread, he said, "I'll make something special for you." First, it was 2 plates for €10, then suddenly 1 plate for €10, with absolutely no reference to the menu—like at a street food truck. In my opinion, that's unacceptable for a restaurant.

Been this place last Sunday with my boyfriend on a terrace. We’ve ordered beer and poured out one of glasses. The glass was not broken. It was in the bill later. We didn’t notice this at first and even asked to add tips to the bill. Guys are you serious? You billed us for an empty glass. Means we don’t recommend you and seems like never visit you again.

The place is cult, simply rustic, with hearty pork dishes, as the name suggests. It's actually my favorite place in Düsseldorf, and the beer is also delicious.

A small store in a central part of dusseldorf, selling food for sitting in, or takeaway as a bun with meat. The pork was a bit dry and full of fat, so unfortunately I did not finish my takeaway bun. I will not be back because I didn’t enjoy it. It also misses a sauce of some sort, whether that’s some german mustard, or something else.. something didn’t feel right about the sandwich I ate, despite the fact I added saurkraut (cabbage). We have been here on a trip to the city. On the search for some knuckles, we came across this place and went in. The service was good and the food to our liking. We had knuckles and a schnitzel. The portions were well sized and as fresh as possible for what we ordered. The interior takes you back a few dozens years. Yet it has it charm.

We ordered a pork knuckle sandwich (one with coleslaw and one without), it cost about €5 if you ordered it to go and it was quite good.

I've been a regular for over ten years. The food and service used to be top-notch. But for the past few years: unfriendly staff, cold food like it came out of a microwave. I won't be going back. One star is still too many.

The service, the atmosphere, the beer and the pork knuckles are 5* - what I didn’t understand, never experienced in my life so far that they ask money for an extra plate - with my wife wanted to share a main dish as we where not so hungry and the waitress told us if we want a separate plate we have to pay extra money - didn’t pay - will never come back to this restaurant again

The most tender pig's feet I've ever eaten! The skin is super chewy but not hard to cut. The potatoes are also super delicious

Today, three of us each ordered a pork roll. In short: they were the worst rolls we've ever eaten. The meat had no flavor and wasn't seasoned at all, and the roll was sticky. Never again!

Ordered a currywurst with fries to go. The sausage was deep-fried, not fried. The order wasn't understood until the third time. And then they even asked for a tip. The currywurst was just barely edible, and the fries were soft.

Sauce was too salty, some fries were undercooked. Services were soooo stiff and unfriendly. You will be charged 8 euro if you come more than 1 person but order only 1 plate (it’s written obviously in the menu, check carefully before ordering) If you’d like to get a pork burger, better go to the another store in the next street!

I went there on the recommendation of the owner of the accommodation. It seems to be the only Schweinshaxen specialty restaurant. The meat is odorless and delicious, and the skin is a matter of taste. The additional menu, sausage roll, is really good. It has a BBQ sauce flavor and a touch of curry powder. It's good for dipping Schweinshaxen. The beer is about average Altbier. There may be a wait, so order in advance.

For decades, this was a good reason to travel 30 km from the western edge of the Ruhr Valley to this unique gas grill, where delicious, juicy spit roasts with crispy rinds were sweating, waiting to be sliced ​​and placed on my bread roll. A wonderfully rustic "mess" with addictive potential. Unfortunately, I now realize that this long-loved culinary delight has degenerated into a dirty fairground stall and tourist rip-off. For unreasonably high prices, it now seems that only sloppy rolls – often partially or even entirely topped with oily meat scraps from the grease drip tray – are served, or rather insulted. Even the formerly crispy rinds can sometimes be more closely associated with the tough tire and rubber market. Conclusion: I hereby remove the quotation marks from the crudely humorously described "mess" above, and I also remove myself from future visits. Enjoy your meal.

We had roast pork again yesterday. Absolutely delicious, and the service was excellent. However, the disgusting, dilapidated toilets desperately need to be addressed. They ruin everything nice.

This restaurant is highly recommended. It is easy to locate within the old town area of Dusseldorf. They offer regional dishes with superb taste. Leberkäse mit Spiegelei und Bratkartoffeln : This is an all-time favorite dish of Germany. The luncheon meat in this restaurant was utterly succulent and crisp. The runny egg yolk made this dish to be more sinful and delightful.

The pork was fine but a fatal cabbage salad. I asked for an empty plate for my daughter and I had to pay €8, it makes no sense.

On a very,very busy day in this lovely city, I expected not to get a table here. There was a table available in the corner outside, where I enjoyed an Altbier while watching all the people walking past. The service was very fast and staff were very friendly. I enjoyed a very delicious Schweinshaxe with Sauerkraut and my husband enjoyed Bratwurst. Both were served with Bratkartoffeln, which was also delicious. I highly recommend this place, as the food is excellent, staf is really nice, with fast service. Atmosphere sitting outside is enjoyable, even on a very busy Saturday afternoon.

It is a small place, on a very lively street in Düsseldorf. You can eat German food, such as roast knuckle or sausages. It can be taken as a sandwich or eaten there. It's not expensive, two people with beer and two meat dishes, €50

Snitchzel, very bad. Large water of less than 1L, €8. We wanted to share the dinner among several to try and they did not give us two empty plates because by policy it is prohibited to share and they charge €8 per shared plate. I would never return to this place.

I recently ate at Pig Janes in Düsseldorf's Old Town and had mixed impressions of the experience. The pork rolls cannot be eaten while sitting on the terrace, which is because the terrace is completely empty average customers cannot understand. There are supposed to be signs pointing this out, but unfortunately we couldn't find them. The staff pointed out this fact in a more or less unfriendly manner. The roll, loosely based on Loriot – there used to be more crust – was just fine. After a few previous visits, this will probably be my last.
