Schönes Leben Speicherstadt in Hamburg

Great restaurant in the Speicherstadt. The location alone is worth it. There is also great service and delicious good food. The menu is select but has something for everyone. Extra requests will be accommodated. There is lunch until 2 p.m. and, at least on our evening, some special dishes. Price-performance fits. Unfortunately, parking in front of the door is not possible. There are some parking spaces at Dovenfleet. Of course they cost. That's a shame, but there's nothing the restaurant can do about it. Messberg subway just a few minutes walk away.

Highly recommended! Be sure to reserve. In my opinion, the promotional wine was overpriced (4x purchase price). Otherwise everything is great!

Unfortunately, a lot has changed compared to previous visits. Although the dishes are still visually appealing, the variety of flavors within the ger has diminished. In the past, people played more with contrasts. The location is still very nice. By removing the stalls with clever little boards with sayings the atmosphere became cooler. Therefore unfortunately only 4 stars

Were there for International Women's Day. The selection isn't that big. But that's the concept, because what's on the menu tastes very good and is very well crafted! The service was particularly noteworthy; it was exceptionally good and the atmosphere was very pleasant! Thank you for the lovely evening!

Discovered it on Saturday evening and because it was so damn comfortable, I deliberately visited it again on Sunday. A nice atmosphere and the staff was warm and very attentive.❤️ We felt very comfortable and will definitely come back again and again.

Food is really good! When it comes to the service then we waited for 15 min for 3 beers!!! The foam from the beers was gone after so much time, the bartender added some foam from another glass filled fresh with another beer. Shame, because we saw it all from our table. This is how you serve a beer in Germany?! Circus!

Yesterday we visited this wonderful restaurant after a visit to the Elbphilarmonie. Starting with the very friendly welcome and the impeccable service, the absolute highlight was of course the food!!! We ordered the pan fish with fried potatoes and a salad. At the end we asked ourselves why the chef doesn't have a Michelin star. We come from the north, we know fresh fish, but this was the best fried fish we have ever eaten!!! The side dishes were fantastic too!!! This restaurant should definitely be on your to-do list when visiting Hamburg. We'll definitely be back 👍👍👍

Silly behavior of the reception staff. We were there 30 minutes before our reservation. There was really(!) a monkey theater going on about how we could still be accommodated now, with the restaurant at about 30% full at the time. And we mess up the entire planning, etc. Then, with a lot of effort, we got the table right in front of the entrance door, thank you again for your endless grace. We apologize again for being early. Spoiler: during our 2-hour stay the restaurant wasn't even half full. Additional anecdote - Do you have espresso? Yes. Do you have a martini? Yes. - Can I have an espresso martini then? (GF had to be called) GF comes running. Questions were repeated. And the answer was - no, we don't do long drinks. Food was ok, but given that Hamburg is a "fish city" you can just as easily eat fish in any good restaurant. P.S. Regarding the furnishings, decide whether you are a Buddha bar or a Nordic restaurant in the Speicherstadt. Greetings from the cathedral city!

Unfortunately I expected more. Fish and fried potatoes were quite salty, except for one piece of fish which was relatively bland. A bit noisy due to the open kitchen and sometimes smelly. The service was okay, but not overly attentive. It's a shame because the atmosphere is very nice and the host was friendly and attentive.

Wonderful restaurant with great food. The service was excellent, my little granddaughter was immediately brought out with art supplies and crayons and when she fell asleep in my daughter's arms, she was even offered a blanket. Highly recommended!

Sehr nettes Restaurant mit einem sehr netten Service. Die Speisen sind allerdings eher mittelmäßig und teuer. Die Bouillabaise mit 15 Euro war schlicht zu teuer. Der Panisch war sehr trocken und die Bratkartoffeln fast verbrannt. Das Kinderessen (Nudeln mit Tomatensosse) schlägt mit 9,5 Euro zu Buche wobei der Parmesan dann mit 1,5 euro noch oben drauf kommt. Von daher hat das eher keinen Wiederholungswert. 3 Sterne für den Service, aber das wars dann auch

Great, cozy restaurant with good food. The location is busy and it is definitely better to reserve in advance. You will be assigned a table at the entrance. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Of course it is rather "expensive" to eat there. However, you have to say that if you eat in the Block House, for example, it is also expensive and the food, in comparison, is not as tasty as in Schönes Leben. I'd rather spend 10 or 20 euros more and eat first class. After a visit you can also stroll through the beautiful Speicherstadt 👍🙏👍🍀♥️ Another thing worth mentioning is the rather small memory card. I think something like that is very good. It's better to have a small selection of very good food than a large selection of bad food.

Spontan online reserviert und einen Tisch am Fenster bekommen. Angenehmes Ambiente und zuvorkommender Service. Hervorragender Lachsburger ( interessante Zusammenstellung) und Gemüsecurry. Üppige Portionen, so dass wir das Dessert geteilt haben. Preis - Leistungsverhältnis angemessen. Insgesamt ein rundum schöner Restaurantbesuch.

La bienvenida y el servicio en general fueron excepcionalmente buenos - grandes elogios al personal de servicio / anfitriona joven muy atento. La comida (espaguetis con gambas / 3 tipos de sartén - pescado frito con patatas fritas / Kaiserschmarrn) fue un festín absoluto para el paladar = toda la estancia de casi tres horas en el restaurante fue una experiencia maravillosa!

We had a really nice evening at Schönes Leben with incredibly delicious food. 👌🏼 I already knew the restaurant from the summer - now, with Christmas decorations - it is even more beautiful. The reception still seemed a bit wooden; However, over the course of the evening we had very pleasant, humorous and fast service. The food (soup first, pasta, burgers, fish and meat as well as dessert) and the drinks (aperitif and wine selection) were absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. We would reserve again. Recommendation. 😀

We were lucky to get a table for 2 people on Saturday even without a reservation. A very nice restaurant with a great decor and atmosphere. Here the name “Beautiful Life” really says it all. We were welcomed very courteously and all the service staff were very considerate and friendly. We'd love to come back there.

A classy German restaurant with quick service. I stopped by for lunch and was seated rather quickly. My meal came out quickly and it was delicious.

Duck good, everything is good one would think. All dishes such as kale, plaice, salmon burger and duck were excellent and the slightly higher prices were appropriate given the quality. The service was top. Only the seats were quite cramped. A place directly in front of a pillar that was only suitable for delicate people. But what really bothered me was the volume. It was not possible to have a conversation with 8 people. Although the rooms are high and sound insulation, such as fabric panels, could have been installed, everything was designed with more of an industrial charm.

We were told to go to the coffee place across the street by the rude guy behind the counter because my kids took too long to decide between a hit chocolate and a cold drink. Filthy attitude, even worse coffee.

If you would like to eat something more upscale and delicious in Hamburg, you are definitely in good hands here. There are also many sights nearby, so you can combine it well. Our food was very tasty and the service was impeccable.

The service was very friendly and accommodating. We were very disappointed with the food; the chef completely failed with the simple dishes we had. Everything was almost saltless, it tasted bland and very boring, and the meat was also tough. Sorry about that but that should be different in this price segment.

We were here relatively late on Wednesday evening. There were only a few guests left and we actually expected to only get drinks, but we were pleasantly surprised when the lady at reception offered us a nice table by the window and assured us that we would of course get something else and ourselves not to cause stress. The young man who served us was friendly and helpful, we never had to wait long or had the feeling that they were just trying to process us quickly - we had a completely different experience when we went somewhere after 9 p.m wanted. The food was great and the atmosphere was cozy and relaxed. From the warm welcome, to the great service and the good food, a successful evening! Gladly again at any time!

I was there with my girlfriend for coffee and cake on October 12th, 2024 Beautiful life. I ordered a hot chocolate and an almond marzipan slice. Unfortunately, I was disappointed with the entire order because the taste of the drinking chocolate came from household packaging and was only served with hot water and a little frothed milk on top. The almond marzipan slice was similar in taste to that from Coppenrath & Wiese. When I asked the service employee how the hot chocolate was prepared, she actually stated that it was only served with hot water and frothed milk on top. My expectation was to ask the employee here whether everything was okay, since this question was asked by the guest. There was no response, we were wished a nice weekend and we left disappointed. Compared to previous years, the service and quality was a thousand times better.

Unfortunately we were very disappointed with the restaurant. Price-performance ratio -> very bad. Our Kaiserschmarren was brought with plums instead of vanilla sauce, which normally wouldn't have been a problem, but it then went back to the kitchen, where the portion was halved and then brought to us cold (both vanilla sauce and Kaiserschmarren) for €17. Unfortunately, the rest of the food was also very disappointing for the money. To add something positive, the young man who served us was very courteous and friendly.

Very nice atmosphere and great service. Eating in the historic building. We can also highly recommend visiting as a family with children.

We are guests in Hamburg this weekend and after a tourist tour we were looking for a destination for a great dinner. So I tried Google and we went to 4 restaurants and then decided on “Schönes Leben”. And... The name says it all. The service was extremely nice. Despite the store being full, she still found a place for the two of us. Drinks were ordered immediately and the wine, beer and cappuccino were in front of us in less than 3 minutes. We chose our food and almost 18 minutes later we were surprised that it was already ready. And much better... It was ultra tasty... mega great... Extra requests were fulfilled quickly and easily and the service with the brown hair and glasses was incredibly friendly... If you want to eat delicious food in Hafen-City there is no other address!!! TOP SERVICE, TOP FOOD, REASONABLE PRICE AND REALLY COOL AMBIENCE

We were guests here on Wednesday evening at 12 p.m. and felt comfortable. Restaurant was full and the service was fine considering that. Good quality food and drinks. My panfish was tasty but too expensive in relation to the portion of fish. I then “boycotted” Kaiserschmarrn for price reasons (you can even get it in “Tschebull” for 14 and including ice cream). Generally recommended, but not addictive

Waited a total of 1.5 hours for mediocre food. Service was completely overwhelmed because we were 20 minutes early. The concept also seems to include seasoning the food yourself at the table. I'm not a fan of that. Very disappointing experience. Don't come back

Food tasteless and mediocre considering the fairly high prices. Mostly small tables with a bistro feel and inattentive service. Things got really bad with the payment when we were overcharged for 2 wines for 9.50 each. After complaining, the extremely unfriendly blonde waitress (or whatever she represented) slammed the money on the table and said “here you go”. No excuse. As a Hamburger, I'm really horrified by this tourist trap! What a shame about the day!

Food was OK. But not cheap. You can certainly eat a cake at a 65x65 cm table. For a hearty meal for two, with drinks and side dishes, you'll be happy that you can use the window sill. But the summit came after the bill was paid. The drinks from the neighboring table were probably booked onto our table. After lengthy discussions, a young employee came to our table and handed us a xx euro note with the word “please”. No apology, no compensation. Nothing. Should I now thank you for that too? After further lengthy discussions that xx,- was not nearly enough to compensate for the amount we had paid too much, a colleague who tried to arrange a further xx,-. No question. Mistakes can happen. But the question then is how to deal with it. And I've never experienced anything so unprofessional before. We won't be coming back and can't recommend it to anyone.

Schönes Leben Speicherstadt impressed with delicious food at good prices. The friendly waiters and quick service added to the enjoyable experience. One heavy downside though. There are many closed society events in the evenings during dinnertime. We tried coming here again TWICE. But they always had a sign put up that there is a closed event. Thats honestly ridiculous, especially during dinner time. It says, its open until 11pm, which is obviously a lie at this point. My first impression was good but that changed quickly, honestly I wouldn't recommend it anymore.

Em uma das entradas para a Speicherstadt, um dos vários cartões-postais de Hamburgo, e a poucas quadras do belo Kontorviertel, com o ponto de ônibus da linha 6 bem na porta é fácil achar o restaurante. O cenário ao redor é propício a várias fotos, seja ao longo do dia ou especialmente ao entardecer. Também por isso, faz-se necessário ligar pra reservar uma mesa. A depender do tempo no dia, a escolha entre comer fora ou na parte interna é relevante, levando-se em conta que dentro não há ar condicionado. O cardápio é restrito e tem opções de terra e mar, com alguns pratos vegetarianos. A seleção de vinhos toma duas páginas do cardápio e as garrafas estão expostas na composição do design interno da casa, ótimo para uma reunião familiar ou de negócios. Mesmo com a boa qualidade da comida e o excelente serviço, o preço é ridiculamente alto: quase 30 euros por Schnitzel (milanesa) com batatas é usura pura!

A very excellent plaice eaten in Finkenwerder style. The service was lightning fast and extremely friendly, even though the place was full.

Food OK so far. A little above average. Service was top. Ambience way too loud. Sound absorbers would be very appropriate.

After ordering, the food was not served for nearly an hour, and I ended up canceling. It was a terrible memory. There was no apology, and the situation was dealt with in a normal manner, so it may be something that happens quite often.

The bouillabaisse was irrelevant, you had to look for the fish and the taste too, but the service was very friendly

Restaurangen lever inte upp till sitt löfte. Det är tydligt att ägaren hade en vision som mynnade ut i att skapa en högklassig, avslappnad miljö. Men i praktiken möts du av en arme stressade servitörer som har ingen tid för dig. Det springs mycket och låter högt som i en McDonalds, vilket vädrar bort hela zen-atmosfären. Jag frågade två av servitörerna om dem visste vilket industri som besatt byggnaden förr i tiden (historiska lokaler med gamla anor), men dem kunde inte svara och visade inget intresse. Gällande maten så hade det kanske varit rimligt att sätta så höga priser om atmosfären fungerade väl och smaken var god, men jag blev varken imponerad av soppan eller av schnitzeln. Portionerna var stora och kvaliten var god, men smaken var som sagt medioker.

Delicious food and great service

We have been coming here again and again for years when we are in Hamburg. A lot of things fit together here and we always had a lovely evening.

Delicious food with a wonderful view of the Speicherstadt (World Heritage Site). Nice service. Prices a little more expensive but reasonable for the delicious 😋 food. Recommended.

The food was good, but the starter was relatively large and the main course was rather small. The hamburger panfish was tasty but the sauce was very subtle. We were 10 minutes early for our table and had to be told off by the lady at reception. If the restaurant had been full I would have understood but it was absolutely empty.
