Very unfriendly. I ordered two Jever Fun. And two scrambled eggsThey came with an Erdigger hefe weizen. When i didnt accept it we where asked to leave the restaurant … this place sucks!

Alldaglig tyska rustika rätter och en restaurang som endast tar emot kontanter och där vi fick uppleva dess baksida. Här hävdade servitrisen efter att tagit emot sedlar och sen några mynt att hon inte fått några sedlar och krävde att vi skulle betala allt igen vilket vi så klart inte accepterade. Det var ingen jättestor nota denna gång så för att hushålla med vår tid accepterade vi att betala halva notan igen så vi kunde lämna stället.

Rustic German cuisine and a cash only restaurant where we got to experience the back side. Here, after receiving notes and then some coins, the waitress claimed that she had not received any notes and demanded that we pay everything again, which of course we did not accept. It wasn't a huge bill this time so to save our time we accepted to pay half the bill again so we could leave the place.

My farmer's breakfast was incredibly delicious! The music was right, the location was lovingly decorated, the service was very friendly and we didn't have to wait long. I would love to come back here 🙏❣️

Quaint restaurant with great Hamburg home cooking. The prices are fair. Delicious fish dishes and fried potatoes. There is dark beer from our own brewery. The service is very nice and quick. An institution.

The food is decent, the prices are okay and the service is best. A good place to drink a cool Nagel Bräu and watch the hustle and bustle on the street.

We only drank spritzers, but they were excellent. Here people talk like their beaks have grown. Nice contact.

The restaurant only accepts cash. Staff direct you to an in-house ATM that charges >€5 transaction fee without any warning. I only discovered it when I checked my card bill later. I feel completely scammed. Avoid this place unless you already have cash. Staff did not mention the cash only policy at any point before payment. The food is fine.

It's conveniently located right in front of Hamburg Central Station. I had fish soup and Holsten. It was surprisingly cold in Hamburg in early July, and the mildly flavored soup warmed me up. The clerk was also kind and pleasant. I will visit you again when I go to Hamburg.

Beware of the credit card rip-off. They do not accept cards, but require you to use their in-house ATM from which to draw cash, that rips you off 9-10% compared to banks. Take cash, or better still, go elsewhere.

Great old restaurant, the highlight is Harald the Cellar, an integral part of the nail!

Food OK, but overpriced. The drinks are also very expensive: 5.40 euros for 0.4 liters of Astra. I find that very steep. The service is good.

Was met and served by a less than pleasant employee. She was rude and unwelcoming throughout the visit. When I was about to pay, she expected a tip, and the reaction when I said that no service means no tip, was the reaction of the more special kind. The fact that they only take cash, but have an ATM inside the premises speaks for itself. After 4 weeks in Europe this is one of the worst things I have come across

When five of us were visiting there and put a chair at the table that was much too small, the waitress simply took the chair away without warning. This without explanation and completely clumsy! When we left the establishment, the attendant gave us a cheeky “We can handle that!” Very rude and not appropriate in such a quaint restaurant! Never again…

A wonderful restaurant in the heart of Hamburg. Next to the main train station, great prices, delicious food, great service.

This was one of the best meals I have ever had. Traditional German food with a wonderful atmosphere and cold beer from the tap. Cash only, come prepared and enjoy!

They don't give you a ticket. You don't know what they are charging you and on top of that they round up the tip however they want. I don't understand how that is allowed in a country like Germany.

One hour to bring the food. Tap water at 4.50 euros per glass. They do not give a ticket saying that the machine is broken and they round up 6 euros saying that it is the service not included. You ask them where they warn about this and they say that it is like this throughout Germany. Aggressive reaction screaming, even reaching physical contact. Reportable

Knuckle of pork was cold, potato had too much butter, service was bad, only thing that was decent is sausage that is almost impossible to mess up

It was probably the worst schnitzel I've ever eaten! Totally loveless frozen schnitzel and the salad garnish is an absolute joke, never again! I warn you!

Interesting restaurant, we had a drink there before the return journey. The food looked very tasty, price/performance ratio was right. You should definitely visit it before you go home.

Food average, schnitzel too hard, fried potatoes bland

We were in the restaurant with a larger group on a Saturday. We were lucky that a correspondingly large table was available. Otherwise every seat was occupied. Food and drinks came quickly, the portion was generous and tasty. You can only pay in cash here - but there is an EC machine in the restaurant.

It's like it's been here for decades. People look deluxe. Food was bad. Waitress was quick but tried to rip us off.

One of my favourite places in Hamburg. When I have train connection at HBF of more than 1 hour, I always stop by for some food and a glass of beer. I recommend the schnitzel or the pannfisch.

We once again ordered the delicious classics, “Hamburger Labskaus” with fried egg, rollmops, cucumber and beetroot and sour meat with fried potatoes. Always very satisfied with the delicious food and the extremely friendly and attentive service team. After a day trip with the DB, we go back to Restaurant Nagel for an evening snack on the way back. We always enjoy going to Nagel, the following text still applies, it is always a pleasure to come to Nagel. NAGEL restaurant and beer bar is a Hamburg institution, directly opposite the main train station at Kirchenallee 47. A gastronomic establishment worth seeing that will celebrate its 100th birthday in a few years. NAGEL has a very good range of delicious food and very friendly service staff. Attention here too: “No card payment”. There is an ATM in the restaurant.

Nice authentic looking place but didn’t feel over welcoming. I was asked if I was English when ordering, then abruptly informed it was cash only. No problem, and I understand, but wasn’t done in the best of manners. Food was ok, then when the bill arrived I was reminded that it did not include the tip.

The food was really very tasty, which I just thought was a shame that all the dishes were only offered in one size, as we actually only wanted to eat a little something and the portions were relatively large. The restaurant itself is really cute, but unfortunately it was very dark in the back area and the friendliness of the staff needs to be worked on a bit. And above all, that they keep an eye on their guests, but otherwise we were really satisfied so far and despite everything, we are looking forward to being able to eat there again when we are back in Hamburg 👍👍👍

Wir sind spontan zum Frühstücken eingekehrt und hatten das große Glück, von einem sympathischen Urgestein bedient - oder besser: umsorgt zu werden. Der gute Herr war nicht nur freundlich, aufmerksam und flott, sondern wirklich authentisch hanseatisch. Da fielen die Aufbackbrötchen und die Tatsache, dass hier keine Kartenzahlung akzeptiert wird, nicht wirklich ins Gewicht. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Uriges Restaurant in der Nähe des Bahnhofes, waren durch Zufall da aber haben es nicht bereut. Das Essen ist gut, die Bedienung schnell und freundlich. Das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis passt gut. Kleine aber gute Karte ohne Schnickschnack.

We were surprised by the traditional atmosphere. The authentic food was very good. The Königsberger Klopse was a sensation, the baked potato was excellent. The service was very friendly and attentive. I would be happy to come again on my next visit to Hamburg

The waiter automatically adds an 12% tip to your bill. Ridiculous if you only come for an (expensive) beer. On the menu it is also stated that the prices include tips. Will never come back.

Were here for the first time today. Really highly recommended. A quaint, cozy pub. Food was very tasty, nice attentive service. The young waiter actually deserves 10 stars! We had left our wallet on the bench. As we stood at the traffic lights and were about to cross the street, he suddenly stood behind us and brought it to us. We were really speechless. She had wanted to try the restaurant for a long time because she had seen a TV report about the waiter Mr. V. and decided to eat there on her next visit to Hamburg. Unfortunately, this gentleman of all people turned their visit into a roller coaster ride of emotions, which was ultimately saved by the humanity of some guests. My mother arrived at the restaurant and wanted to sit outside to enjoy the beautiful weather. However, the waiter turned her away straight away and explained that there was too limited space for her walker. This rejection was not only disappointing but also hurtful because it limited my mother's mobility and dignity. Luckily, a friendly couple observed the unpleasant situation. They immediately complained about the waiter's rude behavior and warmly invited my mother to join them at the table. This gesture of kindness and solidarity transformed a potentially sad day into a moment of compassion and humanity. This experience shows that the humanity of guests is often more important than the service of an individual employee. However, restaurant management should urgently consider training their employees to ensure that all guests are treated with respect and dignity. Accessibility and inclusion should be a given these days. I hope this experience is a wake-up call for the restaurant to care more about the needs of all guests. At the same time, I am deeply grateful to the two helpful guests who made it possible for my mother to have an unforgettable afternoon. **Conclusion:** A visit to a restaurant that was saved by the kindness of strangers. However, management urgently needs to work on its attitude towards accessible service.

In the “Nagel” time feels like it has stood still in the 1950s. The ambience is correspondingly rustic and outdated. But everything is well maintained and clean. Traditional home-style dishes are freshly prepared in the small kitchen. All of this with quick service and a reasonable price.

Quaint restaurant with fast and friendly service. Food is inexpensive and very tasty. The home-brewed Nagel Pils is a dark, spicy beer. Definitely try the Ratzeputz, it lives up to its name.

We stopped there because of the large number of positive reviews. Unfortunately, the boss seemed moody and not trying hard. The “Jäger Art” schnitzel was filling. The meat was good, but the sauce was not very tasty and the fried potatoes were very soft and not crispy.

Our little dog was in his bag. The moment we entered the door, they rudely said, “You are not allowed to enter,” and led us out.

Wir waren am frühen Nachmittag hier, als nicht mehr viel Betrieb war, weil die Mittagessenzeit eigentlich schon vorbei war. Das Ambiete hat uns sehr gut gefallen und das Essen war auch gut. Die Preise fanden wir auch eher günstig, insbesondere in Anbetracht der Lage unmittebar am Hauptbahnhof.

Were here in 2019 and we really enjoyed it. I was happy that I found the restaurant again. Service is very nice and on point, the food was very good home cooking as we like it. If we are in Hamburg again, we will come back.

My daughter was allowed to go to the toilet when she urgently asked and was rudely asked to pay for this. The tone was extremely arrogant, so no further visit. The nice gentlemen from the burger shop next door were much friendlier. Thanks again for that...!

Really cool pub! We stopped there late in the evening after our musical visit to have one, two or three nightcaps. We found it very pleasant and uncomplicated to spend the time there. If we're in Hamburg again, we'll be back at any time!
