NAGEL Restaurant and Pub in Hamburg

A must for us when we are in Hamburg. It was our uncle's favorite bar back in 1955, who is now turning 90. Every visit is of course a highlight. Very empathetic and courteous staff.

A Hamburg veteran, quick service and very friendly. I can only highly recommend the Labskaus.

We found the food good, otherwise we had the impression that the whole thing was quite hectic and careless, which was perhaps due to the weekend activity. But service was still friendly

Absolutely authentic and original. The Nagel is highly recommended, both food and drinks. The Kassler with sauerkraut has a good price-performance ratio. Overall, it's worth the money, especially when you consider that you almost feel like you're in a museum. So, head to the NAGEL when in Hamburg!

Meh. Slow service. Bad seating, sitting back to back. People come up and into the dining area to beg for money. Just get in touch. Oh, you have to pay 6 euros before withdrawing the money. Amateur scheme in 2025

Children's schnitzel is tasty, but very small. Potatoes are salted. There were no crabs at Pann-Fisch, although they were expected. It was delivered quickly, the service was polite. The children were given sweets - the children were happy.

I visited Restaurant Nagel in Hamburg and found the ambiance to be warm and inviting. The interior has a traditional charm that is typical of Hamburg restaurants. What struck me positively was that the service was consistently courteous and super friendly. The food was served quickly and the food was good quality and fresh. Overall, a solid home cooking experience. I was satisfied and was pleased with the friendly service and the speed of the service. The variety of the menu made me positive and the food tasted good. At the same time, I had the impression that some dishes were a bit mildly seasoned, which made me want a stronger flavor. I ordered the Labskaus and it pleasantly surprised me. The combination of cured meat, potatoes and beetroot was harmonious and well seasoned. I was particularly pleased that the dish was lovingly garnished with a fried egg, pickled cucumbers and herring - a classic presentation that perfectly captures the traditional character of Labskaus. It could have been a little spicier for my taste, but it was easily adjusted with salt and pepper. My need for a pleasant and uncomplicated dining atmosphere was met. I appreciate when I have the opportunity to enjoy simple and honest dishes that can be individually seasoned as needed. For future visits, it would be nice if the cuisine was more oriented towards personal taste preferences or offered more variability in seasoning. At the same time, I would like to emphasize that the friendliness of the service and the speed of the service should definitely be maintained, as they make the stay particularly pleasant.

The Lapskaus is very tasty!!! If you're lucky you'll get a spot. The store was full, but it was still possible to have a good conversation.

I really wanted to try something that is typical of northern Germany. I decided on Labskaus, even though I wasn't very impressed with the look at first 😅 Here it is offered at a reasonable price and it is highly recommended! The portion was huge and I enjoyed it very much. Gladly again! My partner had a pollack fillet with potato salad and also found it very tasty. The restaurant is cozy. I was here early on Friday evening and although it was busy, we managed to get four seats without a reservation. I would particularly like to emphasize how cheaply you can eat here. There were four of us (one drink and one meal each; two people only had a snack/snack) and we only paid €70 including a tip. About the photos: I was too greedy and had already started when my partner took the photo - so don't be surprised that something is missing...

We got kicked out because, as Spanish people, we're not welcome there (supposedly we weren't allowed to stay if we had finished our dinner, but our table was still full of drinks). the waitress complained about our behaviour when we were only chatting for our last night in Germany. I would not recommend this place.

Highly recommended! Very friendly hosts and always a smile on their faces, despite the stress. The food was delicious, with something for every taste. The ambiance was very rustic but also very interesting. We felt very well looked after. Thank you to the entire team at Nagel Restaurant.

I can't recommend this restaurant. My fried potatoes were quite salty. But the worst thing is that you can only pay in cash. There is a sign at the entrance to the restaurant, but when you sit outside there are no signs at all! It's not obvious and the staff don't give any information. They have an ATM in the restaurant, which leads me to believe that there are probably frequent problems with payments. Since I usually pay by card, I don't recommend this restaurant and it will be my last visit.

Very unfriendly staff. The pub was completely empty, but you were still shooed away from the table and seated at another table. Card playing was not allowed. This was also communicated to us very rudely. Not recommended!

I love it! I love things like they used to. Dark lights, dark furniture, lots of wood and heart. Very charming, funny, quick-witted waiter, although waiter doesn't quite fit the bill. Host, exactly, that's the right word! A good guy who served us promptly, and the food came quickly too. Great sauerkraut, tasty fried potatoes, and tender schnitzel. The schnapps is a real treat, but it was funny. Quick as a whistle. He's got something going for him, watch out! There were other nice guests there. And the chocolate cake at the end, hmmmm..... glad we found the place!

I highly recommend coming here to save on tipping as I have rarely experienced such a bad service.

There are so many options of traditional German food on the menu. We had Nuremberg Bratwurst and Labskaus. Both were exceptionally good. The service was quick. Our waiter knew some English and we knew enough German that communication was no problem. The atmosphere is warm with lots of wood. It is filled with locals too so it isn't just a tourist place. Our two meals came to 30.80 euro.

There were four of us for dinner. The service was attentive and very friendly, the food tasted very good. I would definitely come here again. Price-performance ratio definitely fits here.

Wir haben das Restaurant am späten Abend ganz spontan auf der Suche nach einer warmen Mahlzeit besucht – und wurden mehr als positiv überrascht. Trotz fehlender Reservierung bekamen wir sofort einen tollen Platz. Die Atmosphäre war gemütlich, das Personal ausgesprochen freundlich und aufmerksam. Die Speisekarte bot eine schöne Auswahl an gutbürgerlichen Gerichten, und was dann auf den Tisch kam, war einfach köstlich.

Nagel beer is great, I really like it, the food is delicious, the service is ok, the downside is that they only accept cash and they don't have Wi-Fi.

Great, quaint restaurant. Not very big, but it has a great atmosphere. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I was there for coffee and everything tasted really good. It is also very close to the train station and you can easily wait for your train there.

We were passing through and didn't have much time. I know from experience that it's quick, cheap and there's really good, decent food. We were full and still had time to order a second round of drinks. Even dessert was still possible. I would go here again at any time if I was in Hamburg.

Unfortunately I was disappointed with the staff today. There were enough free tables, so we sat by the window at a table for four people, even though there were two of us. The waiter very rudely directed us to another table. We then left the restaurant without consuming anything. Service is different!

Restaurant with good decoration near the station. Nice decoration but for lunch/dinner tables for 4 are somewhat tight in size. Good food and appropriate quantity on each plate. To drink, it is better to order beer or soft drink since per glass of water (you will probably get €4 from the tap without being bottled) I would go again but as a pub and not for lunch/dinner. Toilets on the ground floor with poor access for people with mobility disabilities.

Io e mia moglie ci veniamo prima e pranzo e il giorno dopo anche a cena. Locale alla mano, senza fronzoli e pretese, posizionato davanti alla Stazione Centrale, uscita sud. Pochi tavoli, servizio rapido, si paga solo contanti. Gustiamo a pranzo una patata alla salsa senza salsa (era finita) con salmone affunicato (buona) con birra Astra alla spina (una scoperta non da poco: dolcissima, buona, fresca). La sera dopo ordiniamo la patata stavolta con la salsa (e io anche con pollo): veniamo inondati da un mare di salsa che non lascia vedere altro. Cremosa, delicata, avvolgerte, la salsa (Sour Creme) ti accompagna ad ogni boccone e non vuole lasciarti più. Sensazione indimenticabile, Ma il vertice lo raggiunge mia moglie gustandosi una Rote Grütze con salsa alla vaniglia di rara fattura: scorgevo l'emozione sul suo viso. Certe cose non hanno prezzo. Complimenti al cuoco.

The place has an interesting interior. It's located in front of the the main railway station. Food was quite okay. Leberkäse with a Holsten was good portion and well priced for a lunch. The pink one is labskaus. Since I was curious about the taste of it, the waiter brought it to me to taste.

Leider nicht mehr die Bedienung zwei Damen die Blonde wahr sehr Nett die Dunklere leider nicht. Lokal nicht aber sich hin Setzen wo man möchte geht nicht mehr. Grünkohl in der Pfanne ist nicht gerade sehr Appetitlich. Einzelpersonen werden sehr Ungemütliche Kleine Tische Verwiesen . Hätte ich es vorher gewusst was aus dem sehr schönen Restaurant geworden ist nicht rein gegangen. Es wahr mal ein gemütlicher ort wo man gerne gute Deutsche Küche Genießen konnte mit sehr Freundlichen Kellnern. Das wahr einmal nun ist dort Kälte eingekehrt .

Disgusting food, it is true that it is typical German but I don't understand how Germans pay for this. We have asked for water and they charge us €4 for a glass of tap water…I do not recommend it. I paid for two sausages and a bread that was taken from the trash and a glass of tap water €14, because I'm a good person I didn't run away, not because I wanted to.

A veteran of Hamburg gastronomy right next to Hamburg Central Station. We always come here when we return home and enjoy: - down-to-earth, good North German cuisine; - nice, friendly and not exaggeratedly mega-friendly Moinmoin service, which is now available almost everywhere; - authentic atmosphere (unfortunately the Göbel basin has not been used since the sauna rooms were renovated) and last but not least - moderate prices.

Great, atmospheric place, very good food, there were 6 of us, everyone found something for themselves, the children also had no problem choosing a meal. First class service, we talked to the waiter about our country and pork knuckle 😁 we greet him warmly. I recommend it, it's really worth it.

We were very disappointed by the quality of the meal, out of 4 plates, only one was good. The rest only looked defrosted. The service was not friendly at all. Very disappointing and expensive for this quality!

There were three of us here today. First the Christmas market in Hamburg. Then here for lunch. The service was great and timely. Everything went very quickly and our food was very tasty. We will come back.

Typical Hamburg pub with very good Hamburger food

A great old restaurant, not very big but cozy and small. You have to wait at the entrance and ask if something is available or will be soon. You can't pre-order either. Actually always full. When we are in Hamburg we usually eat there. Nothing fancy, just good home-style cooking. Fast and friendly service.

Were sitting outside because it's on the street and sidewalk and there's no real privacy, it's not really comfortable. The waiter was extremely overwhelmed and we waited 15 minutes for the memory card. Beer 🍺 didn't really get cold after 30 minutes. The meal took just under 1 hour. Was very disappointed with the quality and taste of the food. I can do it better at home. Never again.

Immer gerne. Over 15 years of visiting, honest and direct. Nothing fancy but straight up. Go in alone the expect to sit on a table with strangers, so what TALK to each other! One of the best draught Holsten available in Hamburg, same as the Bratkartoffeln. Great location and the food is fast to turn the tables over for the busy trade. Dont read the reviews, full of stuck up German tourists expecting to be treated like they are at the Ritz, welcome to the North!!! Keep up the good work all staff. North Germany at its best!

For me it's always a must visit when I'm in Hamburg. Today I particularly liked Elisabeth and Agatha, who also tell the guests where to go. We were out and about in Hamburg again today and were very happy to see the employee of the century again after a long time.

Quaint pub right by the train station. Home cooking at its finest. In addition, top service and people who enjoy doing their job. You can tell! The food. They're good as expected and taste like mom's. Authentic right down to the tips of your hair. Be sure to try the Nagels-Bräu (dark beer specialty)
