NAGEL Restaurant and Pub in Hamburg

There were four of us for dinner. The service was attentive and very friendly, the food tasted very good. I would definitely come here again. Price-performance ratio definitely fits here.

There are so many options of traditional German food on the menu. We had Nuremberg Bratwurst and Labskaus. Both were exceptionally good. The service was quick. Our waiter knew some English and we knew enough German that communication was no problem. The atmosphere is warm with lots of wood. It is filled with locals too so it isn't just a tourist place. Our two meals came to 30.80 euro.

We got kicked out because, as Spanish people, we're not welcome there (supposedly we weren't allowed to stay if we had finished our dinner, but our table was still full of drinks). the waitress complained about our behaviour when we were only chatting for our last night in Germany. I would not recommend this place.

Great, quaint restaurant. Not very big, but it has a great atmosphere. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I was there for coffee and everything tasted really good. It is also very close to the train station and you can easily wait for your train there.

We were passing through and didn't have much time. I know from experience that it's quick, cheap and there's really good, decent food. We were full and still had time to order a second round of drinks. Even dessert was still possible. I would go here again at any time if I was in Hamburg.

Unfortunately I was disappointed with the staff today. There were enough free tables, so we sat by the window at a table for four people, even though there were two of us. The waiter very rudely directed us to another table. We then left the restaurant without consuming anything. Service is different!

Restaurant with good decoration near the station. Nice decoration but for lunch/dinner tables for 4 are somewhat tight in size. Good food and appropriate quantity on each plate. To drink, it is better to order beer or soft drink since per glass of water (you will probably get €4 from the tap without being bottled) I would go again but as a pub and not for lunch/dinner. Toilets on the ground floor with poor access for people with mobility disabilities.

The place has an interesting interior. It's located in front of the the main railway station. Food was quite okay. Leberkäse with a Holsten was good portion and well priced for a lunch. The pink one is labskaus. Since I was curious about the taste of it, the waiter brought it to me to taste.

The first thing I noticed when I walked in. Is the relaxed atmosphere. I was immediately greeted in a friendly manner by the waiter. And during my stay the waiter behaved very friendly and professionally. The food was outstanding. I can't put it any other way. The restaurant looks very traditional

Very unfriendly. I ordered two Jever Fun. And two scrambled eggsThey came with an Erdinger hefe weizen. When i didnt accept it we where asked to leave the restaurant … this place sucks!

Disgusting food, it is true that it is typical German but I don't understand how Germans pay for this. We have asked for water and they charge us €4 for a glass of tap water…I do not recommend it. I paid for two sausages and a bread that was taken from the trash and a glass of tap water €14, because I'm a good person I didn't run away, not because I wanted to.

A veteran of Hamburg gastronomy right next to Hamburg Central Station. We always come here when we return home and enjoy: - down-to-earth, good North German cuisine; - nice, friendly and not exaggeratedly mega-friendly Moinmoin service, which is now available almost everywhere; - authentic atmosphere (unfortunately the Göbel basin has not been used since the sauna rooms were renovated) and last but not least - moderate prices.

Great, atmospheric place, very good food, there were 6 of us, everyone found something for themselves, the children also had no problem choosing a meal. First class service, we talked to the waiter about our country and pork knuckle 😁 we greet him warmly. I recommend it, it's really worth it.

We were very disappointed by the quality of the meal, out of 4 plates, only one was good. The rest only looked defrosted. The service was not friendly at all. Very disappointing and expensive for this quality!

Only cash accepted and there is cash bankomat inside with 5,95 EUR cash withdrawal fee.

There were three of us here today. First the Christmas market in Hamburg. Then here for lunch. The service was great and timely. Everything went very quickly and our food was very tasty. We will come back.

Typical Hamburg pub with very good Hamburger food

A great old restaurant, not very big but cozy and small. You have to wait at the entrance and ask if something is available or will be soon. You can't pre-order either. Actually always full. When we are in Hamburg we usually eat there. Nothing fancy, just good home-style cooking. Fast and friendly service.

Were sitting outside because it's on the street and sidewalk and there's no real privacy, it's not really comfortable. The waiter was extremely overwhelmed and we waited 15 minutes for the memory card. Beer 🍺 didn't really get cold after 30 minutes. The meal took just under 1 hour. Was very disappointed with the quality and taste of the food. I can do it better at home. Never again.

Immer gerne. Over 15 years of visiting, honest and direct. Nothing fancy but straight up. Go in alone the expect to sit on a table with strangers, so what TALK to each other! One of the best draught Holsten available in Hamburg, same as the Bratkartoffeln. Great location and the food is fast to turn the tables over for the busy trade. Dont read the reviews, full of stuck up German tourists expecting to be treated like they are at the Ritz, welcome to the North!!! Keep up the good work all staff. North Germany at its best!

Quaint pub right by the train station. Home cooking at its finest. In addition, top service and people who enjoy doing their job. You can tell! The food. They're good as expected and taste like mom's. Authentic right down to the tips of your hair. Be sure to try the Nagels-Bräu (dark beer specialty)

For me it's always a must visit when I'm in Hamburg. Today I particularly liked Elisabeth and Agatha, who also tell the guests where to go. We were out and about in Hamburg again today and were very happy to see the employee of the century again after a long time.

This place is a scam. They do not accept card and guide you in-house ATM, which charges 5€ for withdrawal.

The three of us visited this establishment because we were in the mood for hearty German food. We were extremely disappointed. We had three fried eggs on fried potatoes - that was okay, although the fried potatoes could have been crispier. Then we had kale with smoked pork, sausage, potatoes. If you take kale out of the can, make sure you use it as a quality product. But if it wasn't available here, you can warm it up better at home. The sausage was like rubber, the smoked pork could be eaten, but it wasn't really good either. The potatoes were of pig fattening quality, just like you would find in the Bundeswehr or in the cafeteria. Honestly, the cheapest potatoes from the discount store are better. Then there was pork knuckle with sauerkraut and potatoes just described (see photo). The pork knuckle was the worst knuckle anyone has ever served me. Cold at first. I let it go back. Then they actually warmed it up in a microwave. The "crust" wasn't crispy at all (it wasn't before the microwave), it was rubbery - absolutely disgusting! Borderline in taste. Canned sauerkraut, of course. For this one dish they took €28.90 out of my pocket, which is an absolute disgrace considering the quality on offer. There was also a Nagel-Bräu (a dark beer) that didn't taste good with the dish either. What is offered there at the prices is an outrage. At the time of this review, there were 3,429 reviews with an average of 4.3. We cannot confirm that. And of course you can't pay with a card there, "unfortunately only cash". Afterwards we went to the snack bar and had our fill with a better price-performance ratio.

The food we got there was the worst food I can currently remember getting at a restaurant. Almost inedible. Even though I was hungry, I couldn't really eat it. Horrible. But great location and nice service.

Simple bar not far from the HBF, service was a bit confusing when entering regards seating. But after that was pleasant and hassle free.

Schnitzel with fried potatoes came 5 minutes after ordering. Now everyone can imagine what that means. A schnitzel of this quality with run-of-the-mill fried potatoes is ok if it costs a maximum of 14 euros. But at just under 20 euros, I expect a good schnitzel in HH too.

We came across this location by chance. When you enter this historic pub, you are immediately greeted by super friendly staff. We were able to order at our table within a few minutes. The menu offers a sufficient selection. The entire atmosphere was very rustic and immediately captivated us. We immediately felt at home and the longer we looked around, the more we were able to discover. The food was at our table in a short time. We both ate the Wiener Schnitzel with fried potatoes. The food was super tasty. The fried potatoes were subtly seasoned and fried perfectly, just like the delicious schnitzel. The atmosphere in the pub was really pleasant and immediately put you in a good mood. The service staff was very discreet but incredibly attentive and consistently friendly. The toilets were also very clean and really nice. We're not from Hamburg, but if we were here again, we would definitely come back!

Just not worth it. The food is below average, the water from the menu is quite pricey and you won’t get any tap water, the waiter tried to place us either at a table where another group was sitting or at a tiny table where barely two drinks would fit, not to mention any food, even though a few other tables were free and not reserved. Not a lot of vegetarian options and even the one which did look like it should be, the waiter told us it comes with bacon, although it wasn’t in the description. The fish was drowning in heavy cream sauce, so in the end we didn’t finish our dishes. The whole experience just really not worth it.

Auf einer Hamburgreise sind wir auf der Suche nach einem Abendessen hier gelandet. Reservieren kann man nicht, aber es war zweimal ein Tisch für uns frei. Die Kellnerin war freundlich, Getränke und Essen kamen jeweils schnell. Die Karte ist eher klein, was für mich aber für ein Lokal spricht. Es gibt Fischgerichte, Schnitzel und andere Hausmannkost wie "Strammer Max" und auch zwei Desserts. Die Einrichtung ist rustikal, dunkles Holz, viele historische Bilder, Fotos, Zinnteller usw. Es waren auch einige Gäste mit Gepäck da, durch die Nähe zum Bahnhof bietet es sich an, im Lokal die Wartezeit auf einen Zug zu überbrücken. Alles in allem sicher eher ein Lokal für eine größere Runde oder ein gemütliches Abendessen als für ein romantisches erstes Date. ;-) Ich hatte Pannfisch mit Bratkartoffeln und beim zweiten Besuch Labskaus, das erste Mal überhaupt, es hat beides gut geschmeckt. Die Portionen sind gut zum Sattwerden, aber nicht gigantisch. Meine Begleitung hatte einmal Brathering mit Bratkartoffeln und einmal Jägerschnitzel, auch ihm hat es gemundet. Wir werden, wenn wir nochmal in Hamburg sind, sicher wieder hier einkehren.

The NAGEL pub restaurant is also one of our regular restaurants, with good German cuisine with many classics and a very friendly and attentive service team. We once again ordered the delicious classics, “Hamburger Labskaus” with fried egg, rollmops, cucumber and beetroot and sour meat with fried potatoes. Always very satisfied with the delicious food and the extremely friendly and attentive service team. After a day trip with the DB, we go back to Restaurant Nagel for an evening snack on the way back. We always enjoy going to Nagel, the following text still applies, it is always a pleasure to come to Nagel. NAGEL restaurant and beer bar is a Hamburg institution, directly opposite the main train station at Kirchenallee 47. A gastronomic establishment worth seeing that will celebrate its 100th birthday in a few years. NAGEL has a very good range of delicious dishes and very friendly service staff. Attention here too: “No card payment”. There is an ATM in the restaurant.

Very tasty food and relatively cheap too. I also enjoyed the Nagel-Bräu, even though I'm not a big black beer fan. I will go here more often in the future.

Cozy, rustic inn directly opposite the main train station. Service is quick, everything happens quickly, drinks prices are very high for a beer bar. Food was inadequate. Fried potatoes burnt on one side, making them bitter. Panfish was fried dry and the mustard sauce was weak. Schnitzel with mushroom sauce from the bag. We do not recommend it.

A nice, rustic pub right next to the train station. I really liked the style of the pub. The service was friendly and you felt like you were in good hands. We'd love to come back. P.S. If I lived in Hamburg, this would be my favorite restaurant

Wir sind gutgelaunt ins Nagel gegangen. Ich habe „Schnitzel“ bestellt. Die draußen am Tisch fragte „welches“? Das hat mich überrascht, und ich fragte „welche haben Sie denn?“ „Ich lese Ihnen doch nicht die Karte vor!“ sprach die Dunkelhaarige im unfreundlichen Ton und ging weg. Wir sind dann ohne Bestellung gegangen. Gute Laune hatten wir keine mehr. Ich gehe da nie wieder hin.

If I leave before ordering, it must be because of the audacity of the waitress. When asked “What kind of schnitzel do you have?” came the snappy answer: “Take a look at the menu!” The waitress turned and left. So do we.

Incredibly unfriendly staff. You come in a good mood and leave upset. When we (attempted) to order, we were treated so shabbily that we decided to leave the restaurant.

The staff was very polite. We felt well served. However, the breakfast was more disappointing than in any canteen. Not recommended!
