Simple and rustic. Still good in all categories - with room for improvement in the details... The folk music quietly playing in the background is of course not for everyone.

Very good Schäufele with good sauce, dumpling and cabbage, as well as regional beers, such as Dampfbier. Attentive service. Music in the background was "pop/folk music", otherwise very cozy.

the smuggler's hut is a quaint restaurant not far from the train station👍 for train travelers who hike to the mourning forest, it is right on the route👍 the food is very tasty😋 and inexpensive👍 the staff is quick and very friendly🥰 and the portions are also " g'standnes Mannsbild" ☺️ There's also the tasty beer from the Zwiesler Dampfbrauerei 👍 which many people take with them in a “six-pack” as a souvenir and as a treat☺️ we always enjoy coming back here☺️👍

We dined here several times with a larger group. What can you say? All dishes from small to large are homemade and fresh. A culinary delight in terms of taste. The employees are all extremely friendly, even the chef comes out of the kitchen and asks his guests whether they liked it and whether they were satisfied. If you want to have a delicious meal, you should come here. The price is also absolutely right. We are really looking forward to the next visits on our next vacation.

Service was quite quick despite the restaurant being busy. Portion size of the salad is quite manageable, ready-made dressing (convenience), I wouldn't use it again. Relatively noisy and not particularly comfortable

Actually, you shouldn't rate this great location... because such a great place with really nice staff, fast, clean and tidy... can't be found anywhere anymore. By chance we ended up in Bavarian Eisenstein and stopped here based on the reviews. The place itself, near the train station, is more like a lost place, which is a real shame. It was definitely very nice here. We came in and were served quickly. Drinks came quickly, were cold and very tasty. Food was now the big question. I don't know when was the last time I had such a delicious hot soup and one more delicious salad! My husband had a schnitzel! Really very very tasty!! So really an absolute secret tip for good and affordable food!! The location is simple and cozy!

I have rarely eaten as well as I did in the smuggler's hut. 5 stars are actually not enough. The schnitzel is super crispy and the salad is crispy and fresh. If I'm on vacation here again, I'll definitely come back. And the service is an absolute A+++

Actually 5 stars is not enough. The food and service were simply great. The gratinated Camembert was baked to perfection. The salad was fresh and crunchy. It was also no problem to fulfill special requests (bread and butter with Camembert). Thank you !!

Very tasty cake, short menu with great dishes and friendly service. What more could you want from tourism? The location between the local railway museum and the border station as well as nearby parking spaces speak for the smuggler's hut. At least we were very satisfied and are happy to pass this on.

I was here for the first time when I took a day trip to visit my mother's homeland. After we were at the border station, we spontaneously went to the smuggler's hut to have a coffee and a piece of cake. We weren't given any menus to choose from, but the bee sting I tried there was delicious and I can only recommend this place. The atmosphere and the friendly service alone are definitely worth stopping by if you're in Bayerisch Eisenstein

As the word suggests, it is a cabin with lots of space. Tables can be put together for large groups. The service is very friendly and helpful. The menu offers something for everyone (home cooking and good portions), if you don't find what you're looking for it's your own fault. We had the schnitzel with fries, baked Camembert, side salad and Currwurst with fries, all very tasty. The food came quickly, hot and appetizingly prepared. The price/performance ratio was right and the smuggler's hut was very well attended. It makes sense to reserve in advance. We had a great evening.

The restaurant has a very pleasant, rustic atmosphere. The service seemed a bit disorganized and didn't really welcome guests in a courteous manner - we stood searching in the room, unsure whether we would be assigned a seat or whether we would just be allowed to sit down... After several minutes of unconsidered waiting, we decided on the latter. The food came quite quickly after a slightly longer wait for the order to be placed. Portions are sufficient and the quality of the food was ok, but not a real high-flyer. Payment possible by card. Prices are absolutely ok.

A cozy little hut, the service is very attentive, but what came out of the kitchen is absolutely not worth the price, there is a lot of room for improvement. Maybe Frank Rosin should help you out a bit.

Right next to the border with the Czech Republic there is a restaurant serving traditional Bavarian cuisine, the Smuggler's Hut. Here you can try game dishes, as well as steam beer.

Impeccable food, the best schnitzel we've had in a long time, our children, who always find fault with everything, had absolutely nothing to complain about. This service deserves 10 stars****** Great people and absolutely attentive. If you want to eat well in Bayrisch Eisenstein, our No. 1!!!
