Absolutely disappointing stay – stay away! Not even worth ONE STAR! We booked a hotel through Holiday Pirates that was described as "baby friendly" as we were traveling with our 7 month old baby. Unfortunately our stay did not live up to what was promised at all! At check-in, the tourist tax was suddenly increased to €2.50 per person without prior information, and we never received the promised drink vouchers. Our room was in the attic, was anything but baby-friendly and was in a terrible condition - dirty, with broken tiles in the bathroom and full of cobwebs. It was also impossible to get the stroller into the room, which was obviously problematic for us with a baby. The overall cleanliness was a disaster. Despite complaints, cleaning was not done thoroughly and we even had to witness a cleaner mopping the floor with her bare hands and then handling bed linen and towels without gloves. This is just unhygienic and disgusting. The wellness area was also disappointing. The water in the pool was far too cold and the Finnish sauna never reached the promised temperatures. This is not only unprofessional, but also not baby-friendly at all. The food was also an imposition. Packaged sausage and cheese for breakfast, hard-boiled eggs that didn't seem fresh, and flies sitting on the open food. The worst thing, however, was that we had massive stomach pains after eating and ended up having to go to the hospital. Our stay was so bad that we ended it early. A complaint to the hotel has so far remained unanswered. This hotel is definitely not recommended – absolute failure!

Old hotel... Staff friendly... Rooms spartan and worn out (we didn't have a fridge, the exhaust air in the bathroom without a window was broken) food and drinks were great, as was the location, the village was unfortunately extinct but in the middle of nature and the hotel was right there Located on the main street, easy to reach

The hotel was fully booked. Like ourselves, only older people. The food was a bit pork-heavy. But everything is good and nothing to complain about. Unfortunately the breakfast was without tomatoes, cucumbers and radishes but with grain rolls. Sausage and cheese always fresh and always the same without any variations. Not enough parking spaces at the hotel, but nearby. A good starting point for many activities. We didn't use the bathroom or sauna.

Great value for money! Four of us were there for a week. We had booked 2 rooms, which were right next to each other and connected via a private balcony. The room facilities were fine, there was a kettle and fridge. Room service comes twice a week to clean and replace towels. Food was good and plentiful. Both breakfast and dinner were buffet style, with everything your heart could desire. For dinner there was always soup, two different main courses, a huge salad buffet and dessert. Varied and delicious! The service was great and the staff was very nice, they always helped if there were any problems. The sauna is open three times a week and the swimming pool is open daily. We were completely satisfied, the area is great for hiking and there is a lot to discover!

If you need an inexpensive vacation and like hiking, everything is available.💃👍👍

Well, what can you say about the Forest King? Breakfast: a kind of hard baked wheat rolls, the cheapest sausage the market has to offer, and cheese as well. Dinner... well it was warm but that was about it. All inclusive but you have to pay extra for a cup of coffee in the afternoon. Personnel completely undervalued and therefore overloaded. We were very disappointed and cannot recommend it at all.

We stayed in this beautiful hotel for the second time from March 24th to March 31st, 2024 with our small dog. Many thanks to the boss who gave us the room we had last time when we booked. The entire staff, starting with the cleaning lady, were all super friendly and helpful. The rooms are very clean. The food, which was available as a buffet and there were two different ones to choose from, was once again amazing, super tasty, big compliments to the chef, some five star hotels can't keep up, the food was always freshly prepared, and the breakfast buffet was also really great. We didn't miss anything. Soup, great homemade salad sauces, salad buffet, dessert. Non-alcoholic drinks, beer and wine that you can tap yourself are all great. Also big praise to Vera, who repaired my knee for me, she really has magical hands, I will book massages next time. Great starting point from the hotel for hiking or going for a walk. We can't understand some of the bad negative reviews. For this price the hotel is unbeatable and great, you get a lot more than expected, those who don't like it should stay at home next time. We really enjoyed it again and we will definitely come here again, that's for sure. The hotel offers a very good price-performance ratio. The staff speaks German and is very friendly. The breakfast buffet is rich with fresh rolls, several types of sausage, cheese, yoghurt, cornflakes... You could sign up for a midday snack the evening before. Coffee and cake in the afternoon had to be paid for. For dinner there was starter soup, 2 dishes from the buffet, plenty of raw vegetable salads, and dessert. Everything delicious - good home cooking. Non-alcoholic drinks, beer, red and white wine were included. The rooms with TV and WiFi were clean, the furnishings were not very modern, but totally fine. The pool was newly renovated, the water was clean. We went swimming every day. The sauna was on 3 days a week. We were very satisfied and can recommend it.

This is an insider tip. Rooms and all premises clean. Staff friendly and helpful. There is always a solution. Food and drinks excellent. Beds good. We had a great holiday with our family and 2 dogs and booked again straight away. The surrounding area offers so many opportunities from hiking to museums and leisure activities. There wasn't enough time to enjoy everything.

1. All-inclusive: there are drinks and food as a buffet but only in the "restaurant": there is only cheap meat and ready-made products. And a tiny salad "buffet" (beans from a jar), when you ask at reception you get a snippy answer and as a vegetarian you should just eat salad... (some of the pictures there are of the food are not up to date or taken somewhere else) the food here is really a bad joke and the breakfast is not even close to continental (instant coffee, only hard white rolls, two to three types of cheapest sausage slices and so on). for vegetarians, a type of sliced ​​cheese) is actually different from the Bavarian Forest... 2. Dogs: from day 2 onwards they are suddenly no longer allowed in the so-called restaurant, but of course they cost €8 per day (good thing we've already eaten out.) The carpeted corridors stink of cold cigarette smoke, which is very unpleasant for non-smokers... We probably got a relatively large room with a balcony, the bed is OK, it's enough to sleep if you don't have any demands. However, the bathroom smells like a drain, so much so that you can't leave the door open and is quite impractical with a shower tray (+built in 1970). There is a fitted kitchen in our room, but without any pots, plates, kettles or other furnishings. At least there is soap in the bathroom but nothing else (no shower gel, no hairdryer,...) I didn't even go into the pool because I didn't want to catch anything. The sauna is only open three days a week, but I avoided that too (according to the travel provider there are other opening times) -> For me this is not a hotel but the worst youth hostel, if any -> Many guests leave after day 1, 2 or 3 even though they have booked a week, so it's not just us -> don't understand the positive reviews

Very good location, good connection to public transport, very friendly staff, clean rooms, very tasty food and great beer! We'd love to come back!

No WLAN. Although the hotel advertises it, the in-house guest Wi-Fi does not reach all rooms. A problem that could be easily solved by purchasing a simple Wi-Fi repeater for €20 and installing it in a socket. But the service staff says there's nothing that can be done and ridiculously blames the weather for it. There are some safety issues in the rooms and in the wellness area.

Unfortunately the rooms are getting old, which is a shame! A lot could be improved with little things. Still clean 👍🏻 The food is good. Swimming pool was not heated on the second day and was very cold due to the ventilation. Swimming is therefore very unpleasant… Nevertheless renovated and modernized. We addressed this, but unfortunately there was no improvement. The sauna is probably only heated every 2 days. (Sauna can only be used on some days and is not really warm…) Was described differently on the site. The reception is very friendly and helps with small problems, for which there is an extra star.

After seven years of vacationing in Bayerisch Eisenstein again, we always enjoy coming here. The hotel used to be called Waldspitze, now Waldkönig. You will always receive friendly service here, the staff is friendly and helpful, the food tastes good, what more could you want. Even if the rooms (furniture) are older, it is still cozy and clean. Many thanks to the staff

It is Christmas time. No ambience. Very unloving. Reception is not appealing. Entrance and lower hallways very cold.
