Sehr gemütlich mit kleinen Vorgarten. In der Gaststätte ist es sehr rustikal eingerichtet.

Immer wieder sehr herzerwärmend. Das Essen schmeckt sehr gut, die Umgebung ist ruhig und einladend, beide Betreiber hochmotiviert. Man wartet nicht lange, alles geht sehr schnell und gleichzeitig läuft alles sehr entspannt und ohne Hektik ab. Es ist immer Zeit für einen Spaß, oder auch zum quatschen. Ja, es ist recht teuer, aber man hat auch einfach eine gute Zeit.

Sprechen wir nicht immer davon, dass ein Restaurantbesuch ein unvergleichliches Erlebnis sein soll? Hier bekommen wir es! Begrüßung, Service, Speisen & Getränke – bis zum Abschied läuft alles auf die ganz eigene, herzliche und persönliche Schlemmer-Käfer-Weise. Chefin Mandy kreiert nicht nur die Speisen, sie gestaltet auch die Räume mit viel Liebe und Kreativität und präsentiert dort ihre Bilder. Jedes Sujet hat seine eigene Technik und Materialien, tatsächlich vergleichbar mit einer gelungenen Speisekarte. Gemeinsam mit meiner Frau Mutter habe ich endlich dieses so liebevoll betriebene Lokal besucht. Und wir kamen auch in den Genuss der sehr gelungenen Dessert-Spezialität des Hauses: die Original Vanille, serviert mit Kirschrgrütze, Zartbitter-Splitter, mit Vanille-Einsatz-Löffel und vom besten Service, Vanillejensi, persönlich! Jetzt müssen wir uns nur alsbald weiter durch die Karte futtern und einen nächsten fröhlichen Abend genießen! Unser Fazit: Dringende Empfehlung mit Herz, Orinalität & Vanille!

Auf der Durchreise habe wir hier gegessen. Die Bedienung ist sehr freundlich - etwas sehr extrovertiert, aber ok. Das Essen ist sehr gut, preislich aber natürlich im etwas höheren Gebiet. Preis- Leistung passt für mich aber. Ich bin leider gezwungen einen Stern abzuziehen, da in dem Restaurant keine kartenzahlung möglich ist. Gerade in einem Restaurant in dem man zu dritt schnell über 100 € bezahlt, muss sowas im Jahre 2026 Standard sein.

Wir kennen Vanille-Jensi von Instagram, sind schnell Fans geworden und haben uns dann aus Berlin auf dem Weg nach Jena gemacht, um im Schlemmer-Käfer zu essen. Es war sehr lecker und liebevoll zubereitet, der Service ließ absolut keine Wünsche offen und das Ambiente war sehr gemütlich. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt und können es jedem empfehlen, dieses Charakter-Gasthaus zu besuchen. Vergesst nicht, die Vanille zu bestellen!! Letzte Woche hatten wir einen rundum fantastischen Abend im Schlemmer-Kaefer. Jens hat uns mit viel Aufmerksamkeit, Charme und guter Laune durch den Abend begleitet, während Mandy uns kulinarisch regelrecht verwöhnt hat. Die Burger waren riesig (deswegen heißen sie auch Monster-Burger), und der vegetarische Flammkuchen war so gut, dass er selbst im Elsass für Gesprächsstoff sorgen würde. Selten haben wir so viel gelacht und gleichzeitig so hervorragend gegessen. Ein Abend voller Genuss, Herzlichkeit und guter Stimmung – kurz gesagt: ein unvergessliches Erlebnis, für das wir jederzeit wieder die Reise aus Bayern antreten würden! Vielen vielen Dank!

Hier ist der Kunde wortwörtlich noch König, denn der Service ist wirklich fantastisch. Mandy und Jens sind beide unglaublich sympathisch und auch für ein nettes Schwätzchen zu haben. Das Essen schmeckt hervorragend und wird zudem richtig schön präsentiert. Das absolute Highlight unseres Abends war natürlich die Vanille-Creme, die von den beiden mit einer Wunderkerze und einer charmanten Ankündigung serviert wurde, wir sind hier schließlich beim Vanille Jensi! 😉 Der Innenbereich ist liebevoll eingerichtet, sodass man sich sofort wohlfühlt. Man kann dort zudem schöne Gemälde betrachten und natürlich Fan-Artikel vom Vanille Jensi erwerben. Draußen lässt es sich dank der ruhigen Lage wunderbar entspannt unterhalten. Ein wirklich süßes, kleines Restaurant mit toller Lage, sehr gutem Essen und einem ausgezeichneten Service. Durch die witzigen Instagram Videos der beiden sind wir erst auf den Schlemmer Käfer gestoßen und haben unseren Besuch definitiv nicht bereut. Viele Grüße und macht weiter so! Freundliche Atmosphäre und sehr engagierter Service. Für meinen Geschmack jedoch etwas zu intensiv. Viele Abläufe wurden ausführlich kommentiert und die ständige Betonung der Gästebewirtung wirkte auf Dauer eher unruhig. Insgesamt gut gemeint, aber etwas mehr Zurückhaltung würde den Besuch angenehmer machen. Das Essen war gut und sehr schön angerichtet – der Präsentation der Speisen wird hier sichtbar große Aufmerksamkeit geschenkt.

Wir waren dort durch Zufall zu Zweit essen. Selten habe ich so einen guten Service erlebt. Jens war durchaus zuvorkommend, hat alles bis ins kleinste Detail erklärt und war super aufmerksam. Alleine wegen dem Service solltet ihr dort hin! Das Essen an sich war auch sehr lecker und empfehlenswert. Wir vorab Suppen, danach Burger und zuletzt das Schokoküchlein. Alles in allem geschmacklich TOP! Im Nachhinein hätten wir besser den Nachtisch mit Vanille genommen. Denn da bekommt man eine kleine „Überraschung“ vom Jens, die ich natürlich nicht verrate. Abschließend ein sehr gelungener Abend und wir sind mit noch besserer Laune nach Hause ☺️

Tolles Restaurant mit einem super freundlichen Team. Mandy und Jens leben Gastronomie mit Herzblut und das merkt man. Das Essen war super lecker und natürlich darf die ORIGINALE! Vanillecreme mit Zart-Bitter-Splitter und dem Vanilleeinsatzlöffel nicht fehlen. Wir kommen gerne wieder :-)

Auch Essen was man nicht auf jeder gewöhnlichen Speisekarte findet. SEHR zu empfehlen !!! Vorbestellung empfohlen !!! Ist ein zwei Personen Powerteam , mit dem Blick für das Besondere. Der Chef bedient in aufmerksamer freundlicher Weise und ist immer zuvorkommend. Hat immer ein Auge und Ohr für seine Gäste. Wir haben uns in Familienrunde und drei Kindern rundum Wohl gefühlt. Hier hat wirklich alles gepasst. Das Ambiente gefällt mir sehr (gerade die angedeuteten Dächer mit Regenrinne), der Service ist Top und die Vanille-Creme ist ein Gaumenschmaus.

There's really nothing more to say. The service team is truly passionate and the whole atmosphere is just fantastic. Great hosts and truly amazing food! We only knew them from their Instagram videos and just wanted to check it out. We received a warm welcome and were absolutely delighted with the food. We'll definitely be back!

Today was my first time at Schlemmerkäfer, and I was very surprised to see what the old Bienenstich restaurant has become. The food is delicious, the coffee too, and the dessert was amazing! Everything is served in a friendly, quick, and coordinated manner. The main course arrives for everyone once the guests who ordered the appetizer have finished their meal. You can clearly see that the host puts his heart and soul into serving guests. There are many pictures on the walls of the restaurant (even a hostess needs a hobby ;-) ) On the way to the restrooms, you actually have to follow the signs, because you won't find that typical restroom smell here. And the washroom area was also a pleasant surprise. There are no disposable wipes or air fresheners here, just regular small towels that can be reused again and again (after washing, of course). All in all: We felt at home, and we will try the other dishes on the menu as well. Thanks for the lovely afternoon.

Very good food, nice and very attentive hosts.

First, the conclusion: Absolutely recommended!!! Lovely little restaurant, extremely attentive and hard-working waiter, who wore white gloves to clear away any excess dishes (fourth place setting, wine and water glasses, etc.). The manager/cook brought the food to the table herself, knowing exactly that we were the group that wanted to be on time for the concert, etc. If you're ever in Jena and want to eat well, go to Schlemmer-Käfer. Pre-ordering is recommended, as it was very busy. Fun fact: I pre-ordered by phone the day before and then received the menu via WhatsApp with the request to let us know what we wanted by the afternoon. I've never had anything like it before. For my part, I can only recommend the Monster Cheeseburger, but the Hamburg Schnitzel my colleague had also looked delicious. We even received a message with recommendations about parking and a road closure in the residential area, and in keeping with our follow-up event, we were given a suggestion to arrive 45 minutes earlier to avoid stress, as the preparation time can never be predicted with 100% certainty due to the orders of other guests.

The burger was amazing. It was really tasty. Thanks to the boss. I felt very well looked after. Please keep up the good work.

Today was our first visit to Schlemmer-Käfer. We received a warm welcome upon arrival, and after a friendly chat, we decided on schnitzel. It was the best Hamburg style and left nothing to be desired (although any such requests would have been fulfilled at any time). Our visit to Schlemmer-Käfer was an absolute highlight for us in Jena. It was a lovely evening; Mandy and Jens are passionate about food. The tarte flambée was truly delicious and generously topped. There were little details that caught our attention that really made the experience special, such as the use of cloth napkins. The interior is lovingly decorated, and the outdoor seating is pleasant.

Highly recommended. I had the pulled pork tarte flambée and the pudding with a caramel crust for dessert. Absolutely delicious 😋. Great, friendly service. I haven't had such a fun girls' night in a long time 😘. I'd love to come back.

We recently had dinner here. Despite not having a reservation, we were quickly seated. The food was excellent and very well-balanced in flavor. There's a nice selection of dishes, all prepared by the chef herself. You can feel the passion. We wish the waiter had realized how much the guests wanted to be entertained. It was a bit too much for us, but the service was still excellent. Cash only.

Here we cook and serve with a lot of passion. I had a fantastic schnitzel with a fried egg. It's not the typical run-of-the-mill schnitzel that you get and know from everywhere, but it's very unique. The salad with it was also very good. The service is also very accommodating. Absolutely clear recommendation!

This small restaurant is not located directly in the city center. Despite this, or perhaps precisely because of this, the journey is worth it. The welcome was very warm. We were able to choose the table and chose table 9. The service was first class. The previously ordered dishes didn't take long to arrive... Salmon fillet on leaf spinach. Very nicely prepared and as a special there was fried rocket. Overall the dish was very tasty. The second dish was a beef roulade schnitzel. At first you don't really know what to expect. But it was exactly what the name says. Rouladen meat with typical filling, breaded and fried. An extraordinary creation that looks interesting and tastes good. The toilet fries are very tasty, the vegetables are still crunchy. All in all a pleasure. The desserts were also very aromatic and pretty to look at. We were completely satisfied and walked back into the city full.

Shortly before the end of the year we set off from Leipzig to Jena to take a closer look at the gourmet beetle. It offers an excellent culinary experience that impresses in terms of both taste and atmosphere. Here are my impressions: Ambiance: The furnishings combine elegance with comfort. Subtle lighting and tasteful decoration create a pleasant atmosphere in which you immediately feel at home. The tables are generously placed to ensure privacy. Service: The service is a real highlight. The staff is friendly, attentive and accommodating. Orders were taken quickly and special requests were happily taken into account. Food and drinks: The menu is varied and offers a good selection. We tried the roulade schnitzel and the monster burger: the combination of juicy meat filling and a crispy breading was very successful. The burger that impressed with a juicy patty, fresh ingredients and a delicious sauce. The side dish, crispy potato chips, was cooked to perfection. Finally, there was the famous blueberry panna cotta, which was a real highlight not only visually but also in terms of taste - wonderfully creamy and not too sweet. Value for money: The prices are absolutely fair for the quality of the food and the fresh ingredients. You can feel that the cooking here is done with attention to detail. Conclusion: The gourmet beetle fully met my expectations. Whether savory, sweet or in between – every dish was a delight. This restaurant is run with so much love and passion and you can tell that at every turn. The service and the cook do a top job and the Schlemmer-Käfer can easily keep up with any 3-4 star restaurant. Beautiful restaurant, furnished with great attention to detail. The operators are particularly friendly and approachable. The service attentive and professional. The dishes were a feast for the eyes and very tasty. Instagram's expectations were completely met. You should make a reservation because the dining room is not too big. We were welcomed in a more than friendly and very accommodating manner. We had already selected the food in advance and announced it via Instagram, which made it really smooth and extremely pleasant. The food was more than excellent, creative, served in an original way and still down to earth. The service was quick, very accommodating and had a pleasant humor about it. The ambience is extremely cozy, tasteful and invites you to linger and forget about time. However, the heart of the house is the boss and cook Mandy. I have rarely seen such a balanced, warm-hearted person who is full of joy for life. It's good to see that there are still people like her in such strange times. A successful evening that definitely has to be repeated because they know how to use their time correctly.

Friendly, attentive and always on hand – our every wish was met. We felt completely pampered and almost like we were on a short vacation, we were so relaxed and in good hands. And the food? Simply fantastic! We had a juicy cheeseburger and the ox cheeks with dumplings and red cabbage. It was just absolutely delicious. Every dish was perfectly seasoned, freshly prepared and beautifully presented. The crowning finale was dessert, and it finally convinced us: the blueberry panna cotta was wonderfully fruity and light – simply perfect. The caramelized chocolate pudding was a chocolate lover's dream, with fine, crunchy caramel pieces and intense chocolate flavor. A sweet treat that rounded off the evening perfectly. Our conclusion: An unforgettable experience that definitely calls for repeating. We will definitely be back and can only recommend Schlemmer-Kaefer to everyone!

Our visit to Schlemmerkäfer on a Sunday evening was a real experience. The reservation went smoothly and easily over the phone. What is particularly positive is that we were asked immediately after making the reservation whether we would like to make a selection from the menu in advance. The menu was then conveniently sent to us via WhatsApp so that we could decide on a main course and a dessert in advance. We were also immediately informed that payment was only possible in cash - that's the only "drawback", if you can call it that. I don't think it's a bad thing if card payment isn't possible - but I think it should be offered in 2024, e.g. B. only from a certain amount would also be fine :) As soon as you enter the restaurant you can feel the attention to detail that went into creating the ambience. Hand-painted, good-looking paintings hang everywhere. Every corner is lovingly decorated, creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere. There is passion in every detail here, you can tell that straight away. You feel like your favorite aunt is running her own restaurant - simply wonderful. After a warm welcome, we were shown to our table by a friendly man, Jens. After being seated, we ordered our drinks, which were served promptly. What was remarkable was that the waiter wore kid gloves when clearing the glasses - a small detail that elevated the entire service to a particularly elegant level. The toilets were really sparkling, extremely clean - the Rituals soap on the sink smelled very good. Then the food was served - personally by the owner Mandy, who treated us to a personal welcome. We chose the ox cheeks with cherry red cabbage and dumplings and the cheeseburger with fries. Both dishes were excellently prepared and attractively presented. In terms of taste, it was a delight - every dish was convincing thanks to its noticeably fresh ingredients and very skilful preparation. The cheeks were very tender and the meat of the cheeseburger was perfectly al dente. The BBQ sauce - a dream! After the main course was cleared, we were asked if we were ready for dessert. We chose the caramelized chocolate pudding with vanilla ice cream and the blueberry panna cotta, which was the highlight of the evening for me. The berry, intense taste of the panna cotta was perfectly balanced and a true taste experience - I have never eaten such a good panna cotta. Mandy and Jens made the evening very nice - we felt so comfortable. You can just tell how much love and passion they put into the restaurant - it's so unique. Mandy's kind-hearted nature is just great and extremely contagious. If we didn't live several hundred kilometers away, we would certainly be here regularly - but one thing is certain: we'll be back! An evening at the Schlemmerkäfer stays in the memory and in the heart. Rarely have we felt so welcome and eaten so well. An absolute recommendation! Kind regards to Mandy & Jens, M&S

We, my wife and I, went to Schlemmer-Kaefer for the first time last night. We received the voucher as a gift from a good friend, otherwise we probably wouldn't have even considered the restaurant. And what can I say? That was really, really good. The food, the atmosphere, the excellent service... Everything was just right and we will definitely come back.

We stopped in Jena on the way back from Plauen because we had only heard positive things about the gourmet beetle through word of mouth. Our expectations were exceeded: service, location, food, drinks - everything was great and flawless! We would like to come back next time to enjoy the great atmosphere again.
