Years ago, I celebrated my birthday with my family at this country inn. The food was good and the service friendly. Today I just went for a walk to refresh some old memories. The beer garden was already well-populated at lunch, even though the temperature outside was quite high. But there were large umbrellas over the tables that provided good sun protection.

We were there for lunch yesterday, and everything was perfect. It was super delicious and the service was super friendly.

If you want to taste real German food, this is the place! Big portions, delicious flavors, and a cozy rustic vibe. It honestly felt like being a guest at a German family dinner, where the mom is famous for her amazing cooking

Nine of us went to dinner. The weather was beautiful, and we enjoyed the time in the beautiful beer garden. Everything was truly a delight: the food, the drinks, and the friendly staff. You simply have to try the food; it couldn't be better. And now the kicker: They don't accept tips! The waitress assured us that this has never happened here before! Top-notch service and no tips – amazing! You simply have to experience this inn! Keep it up! If there were ever an award for Germany's best inn, you'd be right at the top. If you like well-made local food, this is the place to be. Be sure to fast the day before your visit and carefully consider whether to order an appetizer; the portions here are large enough for adults. Update: We went back for dinner, sat outside, and enjoyed ourselves; we had to take packed meals home.

We're on vacation and went there for dinner with the family today. Highly recommended; the food was really good. Everything was fresh and beautifully presented. The portions are huge! I've never experienced anything like it anywhere else. The staff was friendly too. It was lovely, and we'll definitely be back on our next vacation.

Highly recommended. The food is delicious and the portions are generously sized. They serve good, solid Thuringian cuisine. We enjoyed the beautiful summer weather in the beer garden. Shaded spots are available thanks to large parasols. The staff is also unobjectionable. Friendly and accommodating. We'd be happy to come back. Yes, and one more thing worth mentioning: They don't accept tips. The nice lady said they're the only ones in Thuringia. Truly interesting and out of the ordinary.

We met friends for lunch on a Sunday. The food was solid overall – the portions were very generous, almost too large to finish. The taste was okay, although I would have preferred a bit more spice in the schnitzel. The ambiance seemed a bit cold to us, partly due to the uninviting lighting. The service was friendly but rather average. One small disappointment was the €0.50 service charge for card payments – that doesn't really seem up-to-date these days. Overall, I had the impression that the restaurant has, in some respects, remained somewhat stuck in the past.

Five of us ate there. The salad was quite watery, and the dressing unfortunately resembled a ready-made dressing. However, the food was otherwise perfectly fine. Huge portions that were guaranteed to fill you up. Everyone enjoyed it.

We became aware of this restaurant during our stay in Jena. We made a table reservation for dinner at short notice and I have to say, we'll be happy to come back. Very nice and cheerful staff, the portions were more than sufficient and very tasty. It's a shame that you can't leave a tip, the service and the kitchen staff definitely deserve it.

Nice service that doesn't allow tips 😱 I hope that's at least included in the prices. 24 euros for schnitzel and wheat is okay 👍 the portion is large, unfortunately the taste of the schnitzel is poor (the meat is too thick and tasteless, the breading is good, the slice of lemon is practically non-existent and the fries are crispy but without any seasoning). But you have to say that it's not a Viennese style schnitzel that's being advertised, but pork schnitzel, so I can't deduct a star for the schnitzel being too thick... I would still try a different location next time

The operators are super nice, as are the staff and the portions are sufficient. With the prices being too high, which is unfortunately now the case almost everywhere, although not justifiable,... I could have lived... if I didn't have to start, as is almost always the case, but especially in this case ...having to season the food on my plate so much that it actually tastes like something and is edible. It's the cook's job... to season the food, that's his job, that's what he gets paid for, what I pay dearly! It can't be that one Guest... the spices are placed on the table, according to the motto... do it yourself. Adding more seasoning is one thing, but giving out neutral food... is not possible in my opinion. I don't even want to talk about things that are technically incorrect Start with, for example, a farmer's breakfast, which isn't a thing! When I asked the waitress about it, they just said... it's always been like that. I always ask myself, what's the point of training in gastronomy if... Nothing is adhered to.Or it is simply due to the incompetence of the cooks, that there is no real farmer's breakfast, and no dishes with taste...as it should be.As a chef, this restaurant is ok,...but unfortunately that's more than that not. Ambiente: solide Gaststätte - Service: freundlich und zügig- Essen: okay aber kein Highlight Wir hatten die verschiedensten Speisen von der Abendkarte. Reichhaltige Teller, eben für gute Esser, aber die Menge alleine macht es nicht. Geschmacklich konnten weder die Schnitzel (zu viel Panade dafür zu wenig Gewürz) überzeugen noch das Rostbrätl fand Gefallen. Die Bratkartoffeln ließen leider ebenfalls sehr viel Luft nach oben, Konsistenz sehr unterschiedlich und trotz Speck geschmacklich eher fade. Zudem die Preise auch nicht gerade moderat. Die Gerichte mit den Lendchen waren deutlich besser abgeschmeckt, Beilagen dazu aber aus der Friteuse und somit keine große Kunst……wir werden es bei diesem ersten Besuch belassen.

We were back for the first time in a very, very long time and what can ifh say, it's a shame about the years when we didn't make it. The food was, as always, great and there was a lot of it. The staff was super friendly and attentive, you just feel good just fine!! The prices are reasonable for today's times and more than justified considering the portion size!! We are all looking forward to the next time!!

Great food, very friendly staff, great atmosphere

Pork loin with rösti and vegetables - the vegetables are the frozen ones - "Leipziger Allerlei" from the supermarket. Outrageous. When it comes to hash browns, I also go for the hash browns from the supermarket freezer. The mushrooms were tasteless. The meat was okay, but fried for too long. For the price I really expected better quality.

Friendly service and although it was busy on Friday evening, we didn't have to wait long for our food. We had schnitzel with cheese gratin and Hungarian-style schnitzel and can recommend both dishes.

The country restaurant “am Goetheoark” is always worth a visit. Fast and friendly service is guaranteed, as is the quality and quantity of the food on offer. Of course, numerous guests follow the good reputation this has created, which is why it would make sense to make a reservation by telephone in advance. Whether in the restaurant or in the beer garden with large umbrellas, you feel welcome. It's best to combine your visit with a walk; the possible parking spaces remain manageable. If you want good local cuisine or handmade schnitzels, this is the place for you. Good food and friendly service. I had spiced meat and the Balkan schnitzel and was very satisfied. I will come back tomorrow.

The restaurant makes a cozy impression and that's it. The staff is quick and friendly. The prices are already very high! €25 for a schnitzel… you should expect something for it. You won't be disappointed with the quantity and size. The portion is huge and only for real eaters. However, I have eaten schnitzel better. Mine was very thick and also a bit gristly and sinewy. Conclusion. There is still room for improvement. 👆

You have to have been to Charly's. That would actually say everything. . Everything is just right here at the inn. Let's start at the beginning. Staff, very friendly, you feel like you're a regular here right from the start. Drinks are always at the right temperature and everything is fresh. The food . Now comes the point where unfortunately I can only give 5 stars Friends, the portions are great. Go hungry. Price/performance is great. For those who come here for the first time, it shouldn't be surprising that the waiters keep carrying small food boxes to the tables, it's completely normal, here you can have everything that you can't manage packed up. So if you're in the mood for really tasty food and drink, if you like German, home-style cooking and if you're looking forward to friendly staff and good times, you should book a table here in advance, it's always here. full, for good reason. Full marks from us! We made reservations there for our dinner two days in a row. We were 12 people. Very tasty, very nice environment, very child-friendly and simply great cuisine. We will definitely make a reservation there again next year. You can't do ANYTHING wrong if you stop by there. Keep it up!

The food tastes delicious, is freshly prepared and served quickly. No wonder you should reserve seats. It is worth it .. We would like to come again. There is a lunch time, then it closes until the evening. Fair prices. There are many Thuringian dishes with meat on the menu.

The food was okay but the service was disgraceful. I rounded up the bill to €50 when the bill was €48. Comment “That’s not much”. It was an absolute impudence to expose myself like that in front of my companion.

01/24/2024 Prices justified, increased by around 20 percent. Written down in a way that is understandable for the guests. Portion size not reduced. However, today the schnitzel was not, in my opinion, freshly fried and crispy, which has always made the meal taste good. The fried potatoes were also only lukewarm. Taste was as always. Really good. Over 30 guests and the operator alone. Maybe it was because of that. We will be back. I'm hoping for a hot schnitzel. Just beautiful. In addition to the amazingly good schnitzels, with seasoned meat and cheese and only with cheese, the service was also great. She joked that we would include the cell phone photo we wanted on the bill. But here even every tip is rejected with a laugh. Simply crazy. We'll keep coming back... Thank you for the lovely evening.

Very nice guesthouse with a very friendly, familiar and warm welcome. Unfortunately, we didn't like the food at lunchtime this time. For example, the duck was tough, the dumplings were missing breadcrumbs and the sauce was probably not homemade. We were used to different food here, it wasn't bad but also not of the same quality as usual, so only 2 stars for the food. Best regards

Knusprige Schnitzel in guten Portionen m

Super Wirtschaft wo alles passt. Der Weg dorthin hat sich gelohnt. Kann man nur jeden empfehlen. Wir hatten Thüringer Rostbrätl mit Bratkartoffeln für nicht mal 15€, einfach lecker und reichlich noch dazu. Zum guten Schluss gibt man dann gerne auch ein gutes Trinkgeld aber nicht hier, es darf nur aufgerundet werden, ohne wen und aber.

Super gute traditionelle Thüringer Küche. Das Personal war sehr bemüht, nur leider wurde unsere kleine Weihnachtsfeier zur Ruhe gebeten. Das hat einen kleinen Dämpfer gegeben, doch Speisen und Getränke sehr gut und empfehlenswert.

Super leckeres Essen und wirklich sättigende Portionen! Alle Mitarbeitenden rundum mega freundlich und aufmerksam, wirkten null gestresst obwohl der Laden ausgebucht war! Zudem haben wir nur 15 Minuten auf unser Essen gewartet. Wir kommen sehr gerne wieder
