The food was very tasty and the service was very friendly. It was definitely a stressful day too. Drinks and food were served very quickly. The portions are very generous. It's just a shame that there's no way to take leftovers with you. So if you want to eat deliciously and cheaply here, you should think about the T.....can 😉 Ambience rustic, very cozy

Das positive zuerst. Es hat uns geschmeckt, sitzt wunderbar auf dem jenaer Markt und unsere Bedienung war zauberhaft. Leider waren Teller und Besteck dreckig und im Gulasch war der Verpackungsaufkleber. Praktisch, so wussten wir wann er eingefroren wurde.

The potato house mainly serves Thuringian cuisine. I can warmly recommend a visit to the potato house to every visitor from outside Thuringia. You go in hungry and come out full and satisfied. 😉

The food was very tasty, the service was very friendly and I would definitely recommend the restaurant The only problem with our visit is that the front door was difficult for some to close, we sat close to the door and it was cool outside. Therefore it was always very fresh and it was relatively cool for me, which is why 1 star was deducted from the ambience, but on the whole I would definitely recommend it We would love to come back!

We were looking forward to a lovely evening and delicious food. We had inflexible staff and food that wasn't tasty. The chicken fillet could not be exchanged for pork fillet, even for an additional charge. The meat was dry and well-done, the fried potatoes were greasy to the point of being unbearable and you almost had to search in vain for the vegetables among the greasy tubers. The pans with bacon and egg were also extremely greasy and not very seasoned but still ok. The schnitzel was good. shall we come again? not until further notice!

I was in Jena on business and my colleague (comes from there) took me to the potato house… I have to say, it was really tasty and regardless of whether it was vegetarian or not everyone would like it. Highly Recommended!!! If I could I would give many more stars. The waiter here was bombastic, had a quick joke on his lips, and was friendly with all guests, even the little ones. The restaurant is rustic, the floorboards creak and the atmosphere is simply authentic, we really liked it. The food was incredibly tasty and the portions were almost too big.

At a celebration with 7 people, we were well looked after and everyone enjoyed it. The waitress was extremely friendly and the food was good and attractively prepared. Definitely worth recommending!

My business colleagues had dinner at the potato house yesterday. When they asked for a box to take away “the leftovers,” they were seriously left with aluminum foil on their table! The waiter was also very unfriendly. “Rude” were her words. I will not recommend this restaurant anymore! An absolute “No Go”

I have been there two times and foods were delicious in every time. We ordered different dishes (total 6 I tasted), all were nice. Reservation is must, especially evenings.

Quaint inn right on the market. Old-fashioned atmosphere with very friendly and prompt service. Home cooking. I've been there several times and so far everything has tasted great.

Unfortunately, both the service and the boss were absolutely NOT child-friendly...the manners also left a lot to be desired...toilets extremely narrow and not particularly clean...people with disabilities (wheelchairs) hardly have a chance there...everything was very cramped.

A nice, good-bourgeois restaurant

One star is still too many!!! Totally underground service. An on-site request for a reservation was rejected with such arrogance that you just wanted to run away screaming! Apparently this store doesn't need guests! If you're hoping for customer service here, you're definitely in the wrong place!!!!

It's been a while since I've been to the potato house again and I have to say that I really enjoyed the food. Duck with dumplings and Rotraut was very good, as was the grilled pike-perch fillets with potato gratin. The service staff was friendly and thoughtful, the atmosphere is home-style and rustic. I will go again.

Delicious potato-based food, friendly service, rustic atmosphere on 2 floors. Table reservations during peak times are recommended. Not barrier-free, the toilets and the upper floor can be reached via stairs. We always enjoy coming back there.

We ate on site and had previously reserved for 2 people. Everything was very rustic, as you would expect from the potato house. The food was very good and plentiful, although there were a lot of potato slices in my baked cauliflower, but it was still okay. Card payment possible.

It's not that easy to go out to eat on a Monday... but the potato house is open. 😀 We've eaten there a few times, each time very tasty. There is also something for those on a small budget. This time we tried two different potato casseroles. It tasted really good. The service is friendly, accommodating and it works quite quickly. Any time. 😀👍

Essen ist absolut in Ordnung. Die Bedienung war irgendwie schräg und hat uns behandelt, als wären wir seine Kumpels. Richtig komisch. Essensreste werden nicht mehr eingepackt. Deswegen mein letzter Besuch in dieser Gaststätte.

This is my FAVORITE German restaurant in Jena and probably Thüringen! Located directly on Marktplatz and Jena is an easily walkable town. I’m not sure what the rest of my group ate, but I had the Eisbein with a side of Thüringer Klöße. I love Thüringen style, potato dumplings and this place does them really well. Everything was excellent. It’s becoming really normal, nowadays, to need a reservation to get into any restaurants in Germany, so plan accordingly. If we hadn’t have had a reservation, we most likely wouldn’t have gotten in.

Das Essen war sehr gut und reichlich. Die Bedienung war sehr nett und aufmerksam. Gern wieder.

Wir hatten nicht bestellt aber durften dort trotzdem was essen (1h zeit) ich hatte würzfleisch mit Pommes was unterirdisch schlecht geschmeckt hat denn mein würzfleisch bestand zu 99% aus Pilzen und Käse aber kein Fleisch, die Pommes waren in Ordnung. Die Bedienung war sehr drängend und teilweise unfreundlich, kann ich nicht empfehlen

Top Gastronomie und Gastwirtschaft. Schnelle Bedienung, sehr Aufmerksam, die Essen sind sehr gut hergerichtet und heiß serviert. Die Speisen und Getränke sind im preislichen mittel. Es gibt Speisen für den kleinen und mittleren Geldbeutel. Ich kann nur sagen: weiter so!!!

Essen war soweit gut,der erste pfannkuchen war himmlisch,der andere leider nicht so, hatte was von kaesekuchen(so speckig evtl nicht ganz durch).was garnicht geht das der nachbartisch seinen hund mit rein bringen durfte un dieser auf den stuehlen sass und halb auf dem tisch jongliert wurde, weil er auf dem schoss von frauchen gesetzt wurde.und was auch neu ist, das man fuer jede beilagenaenderung jeweils nen euro extra bezahlen muss, obwohl die preise schon nicht grad sehr guenstig(6.50 alleine eine portion pommes) sind, ist nicht sehr kundenorientiert. Wir kommen seit vielen jahren(da war ich noch ganz klein) immer mal wieder hier hin,aber so langsam sollte man sich vllt doch was anderes suchen.schade

Essen war gut, hätte aber mehr sein können, der Service war okay schnelle Bedienung, sollten sich aber was mit den Türen am Eingang einfallen lassen, die müssten automatisch zugehen oder so, waren mit Kinderwagen da und wurden ermahnt das die Tür offen ist und sie Heizung dann angeht. Das Ambiente war schön auf alt und Uhrig. Ansonsten empfehle ich vorher mal anzurufen ob was frei ist

Service ist zurückhaltend und kommt für mich schüchtern daher Mich als Gast interessiert eine Inventur des Hauses nicht wenn ich nach einem kleinen Schluck Wein zum probieren frage. Gemischten Salat bestellt dieser Bestand zu 90% aus Eisbergsalat. Das Baguette würde ich mir wünschen das es extra kommt und nicht angelegt am Salat ist. Der Preis 6,50 ist leider etwas zu deftig für das gebotene. Als Hauptgang Brokkolieauflauf mit Schinken. Leider kann ich das nicht als Auflauf bezeichnen. Brokkolie, Kartoffeln und Schinken wurden in einer Sahnesauce ertränkt und halbherzig mit Käse überbacken. Bedienung auf die Nachfrage ob es geschmeckt hat wartet nicht die Antwort des Gastes ab - hält bei einem ging so ganz ok nur kurz inne und geht. Keine Nachfrage ob es noch was sein darf oder gar warum das Essen nur ok war. Wahrscheinlich weiß sie um die Qualität die dort die Küche verlässt. Dadurch verzögerte sich leider ein begleichen können der Rechnung. Auch da man lieber mit einem Kollegen (der vor Langeweile nicht weiß was er hinter dem Tresen tun soll) sich unterhält. Meinen Besuch in Jena hat das leider einwenig getrübt. Eine Empfehlung für einen Besuch oder gar wiederholten Besuch kann ich leider nicht aussprechen.

Ein sehr durchschnittliches Lokal. Das Essen schmeckt nicht schlecht aber auch nicht herausragend. Mit der Bedienung gab es mit meiner Begleitung auch "Startschwierigkeiten", welche sich dann erledigten.

Wir haben zur Mittagszeit schnell einen Tisch für Zwei Personen bekommen. Das Essen und der Service waren sehr gut. Preise sind super.

Service war heute äußerst....lieblos. Suppe einfach hingeknallt. Ambiente eigentlich ganz nett leicht rustikal...allersings sehr beengt und...man wird platziert uns kann den Tisch nicht selber wählen. Die mexikanische Kartoffelsuppe war sehr gut....hätte aber bei extra scharf schärfer sein können.
