Tolle deutsche Küche in historischem Ambiente – Das Kartoffelhaus Jena ⭐⭐ Das Kartoffelhaus am Markt 13 ist für mich das gemütlichste Restaurant in Jenas Altstadt. Schon das Gebäude selbst ist ein Highlight: Ein tolles, altes Fachwerkhaus mitten am Markt mit viel Geschichte, das sofort uriges Flair versprüht. Drinnen geht es rustikal weiter – dunkles Holz, alte Deko und Nischen laden zum Verweilen ein. Der Name ist Programm: Hier dreht sich alles um die Kartoffel 🥔, und das auf richtig leckere, deutsche Art. Ich hatte die Kartoffelpfanne mit Röstzwiebeln und Speck, und die war ein Traum – außen knusprig, innen weich. Auch die klassischen Gerichte wie Schnitzel oder Rouladen schmecken hausgemacht und deftig, genau so wie man es sich wünscht. Die Portionen sind großzügig und machen satt, ohne überladen zu wirken. Besonders nett fand ich die Mitarbeiter. Sie sind aufmerksam, unkompliziert und haben auch auf meine Fragen zur Karte geduldig geantwortet. Die Bedienung wirkt entspannt und nicht hektisch, was perfekt zum Flair des Hauses passt. Für mich ist das Kartoffelhaus die perfekte Mischung aus coolem Essen, rustikaler Deko und Jenaer Geschichte unter einem Dach. Wer traditionelle Küche ohne Schnickschnack sucht, ist hier genau richtig. Ich komme definitiv wieder. Ich wünsche Ihnen weiterhin viel Erfolg und verbleibe mit freundlichen Grüßen 🌹

Kommen gerne wieder, wir haben uns sehr Wohl gefühlt

An meinem ersten Abend in Deutschland aß ich Bratkartoffeln mit Spiegelei, frittierten eingelegten Hering und trank ein Hefeweizen. Alles war köstlich, und der Kellner war sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit, obwohl ich Schwierigkeiten mit der Sprache habe. Es war ein perfekter Tagesabschluss.

Wir waren spontan im Kartoffelhaus und haben trotz kurzfristiger Reservierung problemlos einen Tisch bekommen. Der Service war freundlich und alles hat reibungslos funktioniert. Ich hatte ein Schnitzel mit Hollandaise, Bratkartoffeln und Spargel. Das Essen hat wirklich sehr gut geschmeckt, die Portion war ordentlich und alles war frisch zubereitet. Das Ambiente war ebenfalls sehr angenehm. Insgesamt ein gelungener Besuch – wir kommen gerne wieder. 👍🏻

Das Beste an dem Restaurant ist eigentlich seine lebendige Atmosphäre. Man kann dort stundenlang mitten in der Stadt sitzen, trinken, essen, reden und genießen. Das Essen ist auch gut, aber ich habe schon bessere Versionen gegessen. Zum beispiel, das Gericht mit Rippchen und Steak war gut, aber meiner Meinung nach könnte die Qualität des Fleisches besser sein. Andere Gerichte, meistens mit Käse, waren auch zufriedenstellend, aber zu viel Käse macht das Essen ein bisschen schwer. Alles in allem empfehle ich das Restaurant, besonders wenn ihr einen schönen Abend mit Freunden verbringen möchtet.

Also wenn man sich willkommen fühlen möchte, empfehle ich jedes andere Restaurant, nur eben nicht Dieses... Am Tisch sitzend von der Bedienung aufgefordert zu werden, Diesen zu verlassen, weil er für die besseren Gäste sei, hat schon was... In diesem Sinne, müsst ihr wissen

Super nettes Personal, gerne wieder

Wir waren an einem Sonntag spontan zum Mittagessen im Kartoffelhaus. Das Essen war sehr lecker und auch das Ambiente hat uns gut gefallen – insgesamt definitiv empfehlenswert. Leider war die junge Bedienung etwas unfreundlich. Als ich etwas nicht richtig verstanden habe, bekam ich eine patzige Antwort, auch im weiteren Verlauf des Aufenthaltes merkte man der jungen Dame ihre Abneigung uns gegenüber an. Das fand ich sehr schade, denn Freundlichkeit sollte im Service selbstverständlich sein. Dadurch viel unser Trinkgeld sehr gering aus wo man an ihrem Blick und keinen Dankeschön nochmal bestätigt wurde wie unfreundlich sie ist! Vielleicht hatte sie auch einfach nur keinen guten Tag aber auch das kann man nicht am Kunden auslassen.

Wir hatten unseren Besuch telefonisch angemeldet, da wir von Außerhalb sind. Schon der Empfang war super freundlich. Es lief alles sehr familiär ab , sehr freundlich. Getränke und Essen kamen fast zeitgleich. Man musste nicht lange warten. Auf Wünsche wurde eingegangen und die Bedienung hatte immer ein Späßchen auf den Lippen. Weiter so, da kommt man immer gerne wieder . Ein super Lob auch selbstverständlich an die Küche , es war köstlich ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️👌

Das Restaurant ist sehr schön vom Ambiente her, aber das Essen je nach Gericht sehr kostenintensiv. Das ist bei dem guten Geschmack aber auch gerechtfertigt.

Das Kartoffelhaus Nr. 1 in Jena ist immer wieder einen Besuch wert! Das Personal ist super freundlich, der Service aufmerksam und zuverlässig. Die Speisekarte ist reichhaltig und zeigt eindrucksvoll, was man alles aus Kartoffeln zaubern kann – von Klassikern bis zu kreativen Variationen. Besonders empfehlen kann ich das Bauernfrühstück: herzhaft, sättigend und einfach lecker. Aber auch die anderen Gerichte sind durchweg empfehlenswert. Da ich schon mehrfach hier war, weiß ich: es wird ganz sicher nicht mein letzter Besuch gewesen sein.

Hätte besser gewürzt sein dürfen. War leider recht fad.

Das war einfach ein wahnsinnig tolles Erlebnis! Das Essen war köstlich und authentisch. Die Atmosphäre war unglaublich gemütlich. Die Bratkartoffeln waren der Wahnsinn und die Biere reichlich und preiswert. Ich frage mich, wie oft ich während meines Aufenthalts in Jena noch wiederkommen kann. Einfach wow! 🤤

Waren gestern im Kartoffelhaus Jena. Hatten Tisch vorbestellt und so ging es mit der Platzzuweisung sehr schnell. Das Personal vor Ort war die gesamte Zeit sehr nett und freundlich. Es gibt alles was das Herz begehrt. Gerichte mit Fleisch, aber auch reichlich vegetarische Angebote. Die Preise sind angemessen, das Essen war frisch zubereitet und lecker. Zahlung ist bar als auch per Karte möglich.

Man sollte nach Möglichkeit rechtzeitig einen Tisch bestellen.

A fantastic restaurant in Jena. They serve potatoes in all sorts of ways, perfectly prepared. You can also choose between meat or vegetables. Very friendly and attentive service staff, great atmosphere.

We were there spontaneously this evening. Unfortunately we didn't make a reservation, but we still got a table. We were served quickly. Quaint restaurant, nice selection of dishes and good food.

We ordered a table for eight people three weeks in advance. Unfortunately, when we were there we were only given a table for five people, into which three additional chairs were squeezed. Unfortunately that was super tight and uncomfortable. And that even though there were still enough tables available. The reason given was that they did not want to open a second area. When we asked if we could sit outside, we unfortunately refused on the grounds that they didn't want to open the outdoor area yet. (even though the tables were already outside) Of course it was also on the weekend, so it was hard to go anywhere else at short notice. Luckily, after a quick call, L'Osteria understood our situation with the potato house and freed up an additional table for us at short notice, even though it was also full. At least they agreed with it in the potato house when we said that we didn't want to eat squashed at this narrow table and would therefore rather leave. (Hence two stars) I can't say whether the food tastes good, so to be fair you can't deduct any points.

Maybe the potato house should just crush the outdoor spaces! When you aren't served outside and the service doesn't pay attention to whether someone is sitting outside and wants to eat something! After waiting half an hour, I decided to spend my money somewhere else!

Super unfriendly waiter because I only drank something with the baby and didn't eat anything else. Never again

07/31/24 Update - Tobi is the best, friendliest, and nicest waiter I know, great food without fat and incredibly delicious - thank you so much 😘 After half a year, we tried again, but the fried potatoes are swimming in fat, soft, and wobbly. Too bad - we're saying goodbye forever 🥲

Perfect cozy spot for dinner with my husband on a cold march night. Excellent ambiance and great service. Large menu but it was in German - no English version - but our excellent waiter was very helpful. We will probably visit again before we leave Jena.

We were there for the second time. But you should record it. Without a seat reservation it often happens that you don't get there. But that also tells you why. We liked it and if you love potatoes you've come to the right place

Cozy location - attentive & polite service - the food (chicken fillet, mushrooms in cream sauce with fried potatoes).. unfortunately only mediocre in terms of quality... fried potatoes should be much crispier & the cream on the mushrooms less thick... Otherwise, however, a pleasant stay. Thank you very much..kk* PS.. schnitzel should definitely be taken out of the pan and not the deep fryer... onto the plate... then the quality may be right...

We were there again recently and everything was great as always! As always, the food is delicious and the prices are great! The staff was also very friendly as always. :) The potato house is highly recommended!

An institution in Jena. Good food with plenty of choice, no long waits and good quality at fair prices. (During the week) I surprisingly got a reservation for the next evening at 6 p.m. - but reservations for the evening are definitely recommended. We'd love to come back.

Absolutely quaint and cozy. The staff is super friendly. The food is very good in terms of portion size, selection, appearance and presentation. Absolutely within the price range. The menu is on the table as a placemat, the drinks menu is on the bottle. Nice idea. I'll definitely be back. Parking options are rather rare. The nearby parking garage is recommended here. For electric cars, it's best to connect at the bus station and then walk about 5 minutes to the restaurant.

Jena area...city center quite okay...very flooded...partly full. Service very nice and friendly. Food? well...could be better... somehow on the table after what felt like 10 minutes. Whether everything is made fresh...I have no idea you would have to look in the kitchen...☺️. But quite okay.

After a long, long, far too long time, I finally made it to the potato house with my friends. And what can I say? It was simply sorely necessary, I haven't had such a good potato casserole in a long time, and that as old, genuine potato itself. So, I can highly recommend the Calabrian spinach casserole with shepherd's cheese, as well as the potato pancakes gratinated with tomatoes, mozzarella and pesto as a starter. But the others all seemed to be very happy with their selection, and for some there was even enough for a small dessert. Add to that the rustic ambience and the warm hospitality - one thing is certain: I will come a few more times and hopefully not too far away. Because the menu is huge, just like my newly ignited hunger for good potato dishes!

This is a wonderful place for experiencing traditional german cuisine. My personal favourite is the thuringian grill platter that they serve with potato wedges. For a small surcharge you can also swap the sides with creamy mashed potatoes as well. The decor is traditional and brings back images of a warm cosy tavern on a wintry evening. However, there can be waiting times so making a prior reservation is a good idea.

A very cozy atmosphere and a nice ambience. Nice and courteous service. The food eaten is a treat in my opinion. I would eat there again and again if I was in Jena. Big praise from us. Pre-ordering is important as all seats are almost always full.

Ambience and service are really good! To all friends of spare ribs...don't do it! These are at most house-style ribs...they looked like Kassler but in reality they didn't look like spareribs. I can recommend everything else with a good heart...

Delicious food with a relatively good selection. The female waiter was very nice and also fulfilled our special requests. The only point of criticism that I have heard from other friends is the menu. Unfortunately, the contrast is very poor (light brown on yellow paper) and the font is very small. Especially if you sit on the upper floor, as the lighting conditions are relatively dim.

I want to eat German food! It fulfilled that feeling perfectly. Sausage, German potatoes, sauerkraut and weizen! It was delicious and filling, so I was very satisfied! The white beer I drank for the first time was also easy to drink. The atmosphere inside the restaurant was good and we had a fun meal🇩🇪
