Special food in a special atmosphere! We had dinner on the Spiekeroog III with seven people on Sunday afternoon – and it was simply a complete success! The cuisine is first-class: fresh, creative, perfectly seasoned, and beautifully presented. Every course was a delight. The service was relaxed, attentive, and with North German charm – just the right blend of professionalism and warmth. A real highlight was the live piano music, which perfectly complemented the maritime ambiance. The gentle sounds in the background made the stay even more atmospheric. The location on the ship is exceptional in itself – cozy, stylish, and full of character. In summary: Delicious food, great music, a great team, and a place with a real feel-good factor. We'll definitely be back!

The ship's restaurant is located across from the museum harbor. It's only a five-minute walk from the RV parking area. The cellar is very nice, and the food was good. With a beautiful view. We had nothing to complain about.

A true gem in the port of Leer – Restaurant on the Spiekeroog III A very small and fine restaurant on the Spiekeroog III, a former ferry now permanently moored in Leer harbor. The Spiekeroog III was once the smallest and oldest ferry between the North Sea island of Spiekeroog and Neuharlingersiel before being sold in 2013 and lovingly converted into a restaurant. Since opening in July 2015, it has been a real insider tip. The atmosphere on board is utterly quaint and authentic – you can feel the history of the old ship in every corner. Anyone who loves maritime charm will immediately feel at home here. The food was excellent – ​​I had Labskaus, a North German classic, prepared here with love and flavor. Just the right portion, beautifully presented, and perfectly balanced. A must-try the Stichpimpulibockforcelorum! Just for the epic, entertaining explanations from the staff. The service is exceptional: warm, attentive, and with genuine humor. You immediately notice that you're not just a guest here, but a welcome guest. Whether you're a couple, with friends, a tourist, or a local, this restaurant is always worth recommending. One of the few places that has remained truly authentic. Definitely worth trying!

If you want to enjoy an excellent meal in a special and very relaxed atmosphere, this is the right place for you. I have now enjoyed several dishes from the menu, they all have something creative and are absolutely delicious. The staff are friendly and you feel comfortable on the ship, the live piano background contributes to this. A real recommendation!!!

Entspannt und in freundlicher Atmosphäre ein super leckeres Essen aus der "für jeden etwas dabei" Speisekarte zu genießen ist garantiert. We had dinner there on Thursday with eight girls. It was wonderful, the food tasted excellent and the wine selection was great. The waiter (who is also the owner) didn't need a note and everything was carried out perfectly.

A perfect evening in a maritime atmosphere... Last weekend we were able to experience another wonderful evening on the Spiekeroog III. As always, Michael Elges as an attentive and competent host left nothing to be desired. The meal, consisting of a starter, main course and dessert, was a real pleasure for all the senses. On the piano, ChunChieh provided a pleasant musical background with his unobtrusive bar music... which we enjoyed listening to after dinner with a nice glass of wine. As regular guests for many years, we particularly appreciate the consistently high quality in all areas. We are already looking forward to the next visit...

Am letzten Wochenende durften wir mal wieder einen wundervollen Abend auf der Spiekeroog III erleben. Michael Elges als aufmerksamer und kompetenter Gastgeber ließ wie immer keine Wünsche offen. Das Essen, bestehend aus Vorspeise, Hauptgericht und Dessert war ein wirklicher Genuß für alle Sinne. Am Klavier hat ChunChieh mit seiner unaufdringlichen Barmusik für einen angenehmen musikalischen Background gesorgt... wechem wir nach dem Essen bei einem schönen Glas Wein auch gerne weiter lauschten. Als langjährige Stammgäste schätzen wir besonders die konstant hohe Qualität in allen Bereichen. Wir freuen uns schon auf den nächsten Besuch...

An absolute highlight with a special atmosphere and exceptional cuisine with extremely loving hospitality

Had an appointment with a friend for dinner on the Spiekeroog. My friend chose plaice. Plaice and lettuce were okay. The potatoes, however, tasted as if they had been left over from lunch and had just been "pulled" through hot water in the evening. I myself ordered the tagine with chicken. The dish was hard to enjoy. The couscous, completely over-seasoned, was also “dust dry.” When I complained that the meat on the bone was still bloody, they explained to me that it had to be that way because it was cooked sous-vide at 58° and therefore OK!!!! What a disgrace! They didn't want to charge me Alster water as "compensation", which I politely declined. The professional service was rated as positive.

We were in Leer in December specifically to spend an evening in the restaurant because we had already heard a lot of good things and it was more than worth it. Not only did we really like the Christmas market and the city, but of course the ship's restaurant is also a MUST! Great atmosphere, great food and the best service. We were on Spiekeroog 3 on New Year's Eve. We received an excellent and super nice welcome. The ambience was very nice. The food was excellent. There is no better way to pamper and entertain your guests.

Four of us went there for dinner on New Year's Eve and didn't know what to expect. We were completely thrilled from the welcome to the farewell. Everyone ordered something different. The service was simply great and the food not only looked really good, it was overall a treat. We can only recommend this restaurant and class it as an insider tip. All four of us agreed and we don't know the last time we were so completely satisfied. 2 couples from Cologne and Marklohe.

One of the best restaurants I've ever been to. Very good and beautiful live music from the piano. 1A food and a damn friendly waiter/boss. And the portions are perfectly filling, not too much, not too little. It's a must when in Leer.

The cafe house music is particularly nice as background music. But the food and service are also more than exceptionally good. From the salad dressing to the fish, especially the gurnard, to the dessert. The sea buckthorn spritzer is also delicious!

We were particularly impressed by the ambience: eating on the ship, surrounded by the unique atmosphere and listening to live piano music - that was really something special. Our first experience, as a Saarlander, with East Frisian cuisine was a complete success.

Zum Abschluss gönnten wir uns Frieseneis, dazu einen Kaffee und einen Espresso – ein gelungener Ausklang. Der Service war spitze, sehr aufmerksam und freundlich. Besonders begeistert hat uns das Ambiente: Auf dem Schiff zu essen, umgeben von der einzigartigen Atmosphäre und dazu noch live Piano-Musik – das war etwas Besonderes. Unser erstes Erlebnis mit der ostfriesischen Küche als Saarländer, war ein voller Erfolg, und wir kommen sicher wieder!

We went to this restaurant for the first time because of an invitation. The atmosphere on the ship is rustic and cozy, and the service is quite good. However, when it comes to the food, I can't give a good rating. I had the crab soup for €9.50, which was a thin, fatty broth in which there were no less than four (!!!) crabs - I know East Frisian crab soup differently. My wife had the curry soup which was extremely spicy. The menu does not mention the exceptional spiciness and when my wife mentioned the spiciness while clearing away the soup, her bowl of soup was cleared away without comment. With Labskaus, which we had as the main course, we somehow missed the meat in the dish. The dish was almost pink, indicating that a lot of Rote Bette was used. You could also find the potatoes, but you couldn't really taste the cured brisket or beef that was supposed to be in the Labskaus and actually gave the dish a slightly darker color. In addition, both portions were not really hot, but rather lukewarm. Since we were invited, I refrained from complaining about both the soups and the Labskaus. The dishes of the other four people in our group (meat dishes) were ok. What continued to bother us was the lack of demand for more drinks during the 2.5 hours of our stay and the way we were reminded that we had to vacate our seats for the next guests at 8 p.m. All in all average - nothing more and nothing less.

It's been a long time since I've been as enthusiastic about visiting a restaurant as I was about the service at Spiekeroog III. Everything was just right here. In addition to the outstanding food, there was a wonderful ambience with piano accompaniment and service where you could still feel the love for the vocation. Six stars would be appropriate. It was not the first time and not the last time that I will be hosted here.

So if humanity, attentiveness and friendliness are very important somewhere, then it is certainly on the Spiekeroog III. I have rarely felt so warmly looked after. Enjoyed delicious food, had a lot of fun and was also treated to live piano music. Absolutely recommended!!! I am still welcomed here as a guest. Mr. Elges has his restaurant under control. The service works and the kitchen delivers top quality menus. The ambience of the passenger ship is hard to beat. The prices are in absolute relation to the menus delivered. Maybe the menu could be updated a bit. I've tried almost everything. A piano player provides the background live music.

A small but fine restaurant in the belly of the ship. The lukewarm soup cost the 5th 🌟. Otherwise we were absolutely thrilled. Very good fish dishes of excellent quality and very large portions. We were there on Saturday evening without a reservation and got a table without any problems, although the restaurant was full. Lucky you 👍🏼 There was only one waiter in the service, who inconspicuously trained a new colleague on the side, even though he was busy. We had 2 x pan fish with stylish piano music, then 2 x orange cream with cinnamon ice cream, all VERY DELICIOUS! Taking the order was also impressive: everything was noted without a note! Flawless service even at neighboring tables with 6 people. You don't see something like that very often these days... Conclusion: unreserved recommendation!

Wir haben wieder einmal die wunderbare Aussicht auf die Leeraner Altstadt und vor allem das köstliche Essen auf der Spiekeroog III genossen. Sowohl die Vorspeise , Krabbensuppe, als auch die Hauptspeisen , Indonesisches Fischcurry und Ostfriesischer Pannfisch waren hervorragend. Zum Abschluss haben wir uns von der sehr guten Spirituosen - Karte noch einen milden Rum, Cuarte gegönnt. Alles in allem ein sehr schöner Abend.Vielen Dank an den Gastgeber!

Really a nice ambience with nice piano music in the background. The owners are also very nice and attentive. Unfortunately, for one main course the fried potatoes were pretty charred. However, the reaction was a bit disappointing - “That happens sometimes with small pieces”. But still highly recommended.

Warum auch immer, haben wir das Schiffsrestaurant erst heute zum ersten Mal besucht. Das bereuen wir jetzt. Wir hätten schon viel eher dort Essen gehen sollen. Das Ambiente ist urig und bietet einen tollen Ausblick auf das Rathaus und die Waage, wenn man auf der richtigen Seite sitzt. Die Bedienung war sehr freundlich und friesischen humorvoll. Wir hatten die vegane Winter-Bowl (meine Frau) und den ostfriesischen Grünkohl (ich). Ich kann nur sagen, dass mir buchstäblich das Wasser im Mund zusammenlief, als serviert wurde. Auch optisch toll hergemacht. Ach, der Humor: da meine Frau kein Dessert mehr wollte, ich mir aber noch ein Frieseneis gegönnt habe, bekam sie einen ausziehbaren Löffel, um bei mir Räubern zu können... Das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis ist in meinen Augen in Leer unschlagbar. Fazit: Eine überschaubare Karte, die auf Klasse und nicht auf Masse setzt und den Spagat schafft ostfriesischen Küche neben internationaler Küche leben zu lassen. Wir haben jedenfalls direkt gefragt, ob zu Weihnachten geöffnet ist 😉.

Haben auf dem Oberdeck bei besten Wetter sehr lecker gegessen. Tagliatelle mit Schweinefilet , Bratkartoffeln, Salat waren sehr gut und die Scholle perfekt.
