Very tasty Franconian home cooking, with more than enough on the plate. Unfortunately, the duck legs we were served were overcooked and consequently dry, hence only 4 stars. Apart from that, the food is impeccable in every respect, and the restaurant is highly recommended!

Good ambience, nice service. We ordered the Wienerschnitzel, which unfortunately wasn't cooked through. Some of the fries were very hard. Beer was good but could be a bit colder.

The service here is truly fantastic; everything is super fast (from ordering drinks to receiving them took 1 minute. The food took 4 minutes), so if you're in a hurry, this is the place for you! Unfortunately, there was something wrong with my Schäuferla (it didn't taste good), but the server was very understanding and brought me a new dish, goulash. And it was the best I've ever had! Goulash lovers will be very happy here. All in all, a very pleasant experience, with a very friendly and clean atmosphere.

The food was delicious, and we really enjoyed the beer tasting (four small Franconian beers). The server was extremely friendly and gave us lots of good tips for the weekend. I highly recommend it.

During our weekend vacation in Bamberg we had dinner here in the evening. We had reserved a table, but there were plenty of empty seats. We deliberately chose Scheiners because we wanted to eat typical Franconian food. We weren't disappointed. The food was great. The crust is so crispy. Very very tasty. The portions were generous. I didn't make the knuckle. However, we also had an appetizer. The prices for food and drinks are very fair. I haven't eaten so cheaply in a long time. The only drawback: it was cold and drafty in the restaurant. In winter it is better to only use one entrance.

Good Franconian cuisine with very friendly service. The Schäuferla with cabbage or savoy cabbage is a dream - great selection of local beers.

We only went to Schreiners for a small snack and felt very comfortable. Delicious food, nice ambience and friendly service.

Yesterday, as usual, we went to Schreiners am Katzenberg. We had two Schäuferla with an extra portion of savoy cabbage. The food was very tasty but unfortunately a bit too much for us. We wanted to have the rest (a whole Schäuferla) packed up to take away, the perfect lunch for Monday for two people. Unfortunately the waitress didn't hear it and when asked she just said that she hadn't heard it. That's it. There was no trace of an apology or an accommodation. Really, really sad. It was also very cold in the restaurant, but luckily we were well equipped with a scarf, gloves and blanket.

Food is okay...but unfortunately not anymore. The temperatures were the worst. It's very cold everywhere on the ground floor, people are sitting there in jackets... Absolutely no condition and unfortunately no understanding from the landlord either. It's a shame ☹️ you don't have to have it again.

Didn't quite meet my expectations. As others have already written, Schäufela is a bit overcooked, but it is also a matter of taste. Beans for frying onions should have been prepared a little better, they were barely cooked and some were still cold. You could have at least tossed it in butter. If you want to eat Franconian cuisine, you are welcome to go. PS: Open communication from the inn. Points of criticism have been clarified and should be resolved.

I was at Scheiners today with friends who were visiting in Bamberg and unfortunately I was more than disappointed. For one thing, it was very drafty and cold. We received our request immediately a new table inside, but it was just as cold and drafty. My roulade was completely over-seasoned and the red cabbage was a bit too sour. The dumpling was good. The other food wasn't a taste experience either. There were also complaints about the food at the neighboring table; Schäuferla and duck had apparently been ready and kept warm for ages, as both were far too dry. The sauces, just like ours, are also over-seasoned or too salty. The waiter's reaction to the guests' criticism was sad - there was nothing more than a tired smile. No apology, no interest, zero. Leave your money and go, guest. New ones coming tomorrow... To make matters worse, the toilets were a disgrace in terms of cleanliness and smell. It's a shame, but I can no longer recommend this restaurant to my guests in the future.

There were four of us at the Scheiners today. It all started with the fact that the store is - with all due respect - cold. Upon request we were given a new table in the “main room”. Just as cold and drafty. We ate roulade, 2 x Schäuferle and 1 x duck leg. The fries ordered instead of the dumplings for the one portion of Schäuferle were edible, that was it. The duck was baked/fried and stringy. The sauce on every meal is so salty. After the meal, the waiter asked if everything was okay. Our comments had a goofy grin in response. Thank you for nothing. No tip, done. On top: Both the men's and women's toilets are in a pitiful condition. Worse than a train station toilet. Thanks for the “Danger of Slipping” sign Of course, the location of the restaurant will continue to ensure that the store will continue to be fully booked. It's enough if everyone comes once.

Reservation overlapped with another reservation, so we had to change seats during the visit. We were given drafty seats right at the front door. Eating took over 1 hour. Orders for additional drinks were only accepted upon request. The service was really bad.

Simply super delicious! The schnitzel is seasoned incredibly deliciously and the breading is simply great. The dish is only topped off by the fries - crispy on the outside with delicious spices and creamy and soft on the inside. You can enjoy the delicious food in a cozy atmosphere near the center. The staff is very friendly and personable. Clear recommendation!

Nice typical Franconian restaurant with dishes like Schäufele and Haxe. The meat and dumplings were very good, the red cabbage was a bit too sour. When it comes to beer, there is a very good selection of delicious drinks. In general the visit was worth 5/5 stars due to the convincing meat.

Went to this restaurant in mid-November. Very nice atmosphere. But unfortunately appearances are deceiving. Ordered starters and main course. Both came at the same time and then also the wrong food. Dishes chipped, you could have cut yourself on the plate. Plastic bag with mustard lay on the food. Completely impossible for a restaurant that could actually be very sophisticated! Too bad. Never again, we are used to much better things from Leipzig!

We stopped by here to have some of their aged smoked beer and local wines. It was a good way to relax after walking the town. Service was decent, the facility was nice with communal seating and places in back.

We went there for dinner with colleagues. Nice staff, great food and nice atmosphere. There was even live music playing. The restaurant is also very centrally located and you are right in the middle of Bamberg life.

The two of us went to the restaurant on a Monday evening in November with a reservation at 6 p.m. That worked very well. We received a very friendly welcome. The restaurant is very rustic and furnished the way you would imagine a Franconian restaurant to be. The menu includes everything you could want when visiting a restaurant like this. The very friendly service gave us recommendations, which we were happy to accept. The food came quickly and everything tasted extremely tasty, especially the sauces. Really, really tasty.

Only negatives were they wouldn’t provide us with drinking (tap) water, and no toilet paper in the restrooms. But the food was good and the seating was nice outside.

Just good! We had the Bamberg platter with red cabbage. Beer tasting and cyclists. Everything perfect! Our children (8 months & 2 years) were warmly welcomed and provided with a plate of robbers. Tasty beer and delicious food! The Wirising is really very good and the Schäufele is sooo tender. If we come back to Bamberg, we will eat here again.

Schäufele at the Scheiner is always a reliably wonderful thing, accompanied by a fine beer, delicious! Service is also great, prices are fair and the atmosphere is appropriate. We always enjoy coming here, actually whenever we are in Bamberg again.

We wanted to eat for two at around 5:30 p.m. (September 28th, 2024) without pre-ordering. All tables were reserved and we would be turned away. On the way out we saw that at least one table was not reserved until 7:30 p.m. Because we were told that we would be finished by then, we were allowed to sit down after the waitress asked the boss (it took at least 5 minutes). But then no service staff felt responsible for us for 10 - 15 minutes. Then we wanted to sample Scheiner's beer (4 different beers, yes 0.1 l). We received a relatively rude statement: "That's not available on the weekend" - there was nothing about it on the menu. The dishes we ordered (hock, roast pork) were served very quickly and ok. We felt unwelcome and a nuisance. Apparently they only want 1 dinner cast per evening. "Work minimization before guest orientation?". We will not visit this restaurant again. The location in Bamberg is relatively central and is therefore easy to reach.

Restaurant review. We went here for dinner with a group of 10 (we made reservations months in advance). The table was great for our group. However, it is really, really loud in the restaurant (unpleasant!). The service was so well... The waiters weren't really on point. The beer was delicious. The food took a while to arrive, but it came for all of us at the same time. The food was very, very tasty, the meat was tender and tasty, the courses were nice and crispy. The side dish (Savoy cabbage) was so good, we simply ordered another portion afterwards. All in all we had a great evening, but unfortunately we still need to work on the service...

At first we had difficulty weaving past the Chinese tourists who were tasting the smoked beer next door. After we had survived this route, a fine restaurant awaited us. We really had a first-class meal here. The food was local, as was the beer. The service was very attentive and open (“Actually, all of our food is fatty, except for the duck leg and the Franconian sauerbraten”). You can do a beer tasting, but the Session IPA in particular is great! We also had a duck leg and Franconian sauerbraten. Both tasted excellent and arrived less than 5 minutes after ordering... faster than Markus Söder can hug a tree. Highly recommended!

We had lunch here on May 13, 2024. There were a lot of customers, so there weren't many seats, but thankfully, a few elderly women who seemed to be local residents gave up some of their seats while eating, so we were able to eat together. I felt really good and was able to have a simple conversation while eating, and he was very friendly. As the number of customers said, the restaurant staff was friendly and the food was delicious. It was located in the middle of a downtown area, so I was able to have a delicious lunch in a pleasant atmosphere.

The Scheiners am Dom has a great ambience, beautiful guest rooms and a cozy inner courtyard. Even if you think you're in a family business here, you can tell that it's all about making money. Everything is very busy and the staff is quite hectic throughout the restaurant. We were all the more pleased that the service at our table was friendly and attentive. The food and drinks ordered came quickly. The dishes were large enough and very tasty. The Schäufele with the savoy cabbage were wonderful. Only the pork knuckle was unfortunately missing the crust, so it wasn't crispy. Because of our group of 8, we had reserved online beforehand, which worked without any problems. Since we were there an hour early, we were quickly seated in the courtyard and given drinks. Our reserved table was on the 1st floor where the atmosphere is unfortunately not that rustic. All in all, we would eat here again.

Was there for breakfast from the associated hotel 🏨 and that was sufficient and good. I also drank very tasty light beer there and had schnitzel for lunch and can recommend both. Friendly and attentive staff. In my opinion there were no parking options, we stood in the hotel parking lot.

Stopped here for lunch. Was a very quiet setting with the music in the background. The food was exceptional!! The service was on point. Very friendly and laid back atmosphere. Highly recommend. Thank you for a great memory!

Saturday evening in the middle of Bamberg. The place is well stocked, but not really full either. Nice ambience, nice courtyard and good music. Could have been great. First you sit on the dry land completely ignored for a quarter of an hour and watch the waiter talk. Then they take pity on us and ask what we want. We order the beer tasting three times without the smoked beer. Get the beer sample once without and twice with smoked beer. We pointed out the mistake in a friendly but firm manner and had the waiter from whom we hadn't ordered explain to us that it couldn't be right. Then the waiter we ordered from came to say the same crap. So much for the customer is king. Things can go wrong sometimes, but that's definitely not how you treat customers. It's a shame that I have to give it one star, because it's actually far too much for what I experienced. Thanks for nothing.

We visited the restaurant and were pleasantly surprised by the quick service and friendly staff. The food arrived very fast. However, the schnitzel was a bit dry and not as juicy as we expected.

Sehr freundliche Bedienung, die Getränke kamen sehr schnell, das Essen ha wegen einer größeren Feier etwas gedauert. Wir hatten Ente. Das Fleisch war sehr zart und weich. Auch die Knödel, das Blaukraut und die Soße sehr fei und gut abgestimmt.

Why does a Schäufele with dumpling and cabbage cost almost exactly the same as a dumpling with sauce in which you find a few tired Alibi chanterelles? A typical case of "being stingy with quality because the location already attracts enough people." Vegetarians are second class citizens in Bavarian taverns. The wheat was excellent.

We were here for dinner. The order was taken quickly. Drinks came quickly. Unfortunately the food was forgotten and was only brought to our table after we asked. The taste was OK.

If you want to eat here, the customer is not taken into account. There were four of us eating here, the soup was too salty, a meal only came after everyone had eaten and we had to ask for the rest of the food. The waiter then started arguing and blaming the customer. even though he had entered everything and it could be refuted. I would like better service and more attention to customers. A week spent in Germany with a couple of German friends and a couple of French friends ❤️ So many good memories. All the hotels, restaurants and cafes visited were perfect. What a shame not to be able to say that about those in France 😤

No overnight stay, just restaurant visits on two different days during "Sandkerwa" = folk festival. Relatively reasonable prices compared to that. The gastronomic level cannot be assessed representatively in such situations. Staff very different, from lovable and committed to bored and disinterested. People... 🤷‍♀️

Music ten points service zero. Incompetent service staff, no system at the bar, you wait hours for your drink. There are discussions with individual customers about a few euros until the other guests leave completely. Guests still have to pay €0.50 to go to the Sandkerwa even though they buy their drinks there. At least the lady at the toilet gave me goulash.

This review refers to my visit to the restaurant on the evening of August 2nd, 2024 The finest experience gastronomy awaits guests here. The red-haired waitress was so drunk that the fact that even one thing reached the right table safely could be considered a modern wonder of the world. Guests who left a bad Google review due to the incident were loudly confronted by the staff. What may seem entertaining to an outsider is ultimately a gastronomic disgrace.

In fact, the food was very tasty and everything at our table went very quickly and no one was unfriendly. However, it was extremely noticeable that the waiters were all very drunk. Not just the lady but also some of the male colleagues. Food fell off the plate and other guests waited almost an hour for their food. After the table next to us wrote a review, one of the waiters came to their table and wanted to confront them while they were still eating. The environment was very, very unpleasant for us and that's why we won't be coming back!

Ambiance & food very good, service very bad and seemed drunk, owner unfriendly. Conditions staggered through the aisles and spilled food. When a neighboring table wrote a negative review of this spectacle during their stay, the owner came over and loudly complained to them and tried to embarrass the author in front of the guests.
