I was blown away by the restaurant. The service was super friendly, the food was excellent, and the location, close to the river, was also fantastic. I'd love to go back!

I listened to the Google reviews and tried the tiramisu, and it's truly amazing. I'm also thrilled with the (non-alcoholic) cocktails and the crispy fries.

An absolute insider tip, great food, and you can try everything. We were there with small children on the weekend, and despite the mess we left behind, the server was very friendly and even gave the little ones something. There's also a play area.

We were there for a team event with 35 people on the beautifully situated terrace. Everyone enjoyed the buffet and the food. The service was exceptionally polite (even a last-minute request regarding a participant's food intolerance was handled easily and professionally) – a definite recommendation 👍

We were very impressed and extremely satisfied with the atmosphere, the attentive and warm service, and the fantastic food. We highly recommend the house special and the pineapple chicken. The tiramisu for dessert was the icing on the cake. We can therefore highly recommend the Saphir and would definitely be happy to return!

A thoroughly successful girls' night at the Saphir Restaurant! We went to the Saphir Restaurant yesterday for a girls' night – and it was simply fantastic! The food was incredibly delicious, lovingly prepared, and of high quality. We were particularly impressed by the warm and sincere service: attentive, honest, and with a genuine sense of hospitality. The chef's recommendations were spot on – you can tell the passion and experience behind them. All in all, a very successful evening where everything was just perfect. We were completely satisfied and would definitely come back. Absolutely recommend it!

We were at the Folding Boat Club next door over Pentecost and were allowed to bring our drinks onto the pitch. It seemed like a given. Very friendly host and good value for money.

We reserved a table with some friends to try this restaurant. We were surprised by the friendliness and friendliness of the staff. Some dishes were recommended to us, and others we wanted to try ourselves and be inspired. The vegetable khottu is excellent! Also rice with chicken and vegetables and with lentils. I recommend everyone try this restaurant and support cuisines that are different from the usual. Bamberg has needed a restaurant like this for a long time! ☺️

Authentic, lovely and super tasty.

We even had dinner at Saphir twice during our four-day short vacation! I haven't had something this delicious on my plate in a long time! Hmmmm, a fantastic classic curry!! The outside area could use a bit of decoration, then it's a clear 5 stars! Thank you very much for the great meal and the very nice hospitality ;) little tip, you can get there from Kranen, also by excursion boat and saves having to hike there from the old town..

Very authentic with quality that you can taste. Cooked only with organic ingredients. Kottu and string hoppers are highly recommended. (We would also very much welcome a restaurant in Munich 😉)

Drinks & food great, location great!

Both the very quiet location and the super friendly service are a great companion to the excellent food. The fries are definitely the best in Bamberg and quite possibly the best in Germany. Definitely try it!

We had a lovely evening at Saphir. The location is great, there is parking on site, the owner is very friendly and above all the food was absolutely delicious!! I can't understand the reviews regarding portion size. We were really very full after our main course. Nevertheless, we ordered the coconut egg pudding for dessert, which was also delicious!

Went there for the first time today and can only say positive things. The food was very tasty and sufficient. The service staff was also attentive and friendly.

Delicious, no question. The prices for main courses... maybe still ok. But drinks and side dishes?? For the children we had fries, rice and a lassi, plus a bottle of water - that's 25 euros, that's perverse.

Small restaurant in the folding boat club right on the Main-Danube Canal. Quiet garden atmosphere with outdoor seating. Adventure playground nearby. Small menu with fantastic tasting and exotically spiced dishes. Very nice service. In my opinion, medium prices but absolutely reasonable. We will come back - recommended for anyone who wants to eat something special.

Taste good, but portion too small. A plate with everything on it. And the price is too high. I was there for lunch and I can get lunch far cheaper elsewhere.

We were just there for a drink and tried the Tiramus. The Ayuverdic tea was delicious, the service was very friendly and accommodating. The tiramisu was outstanding, next time we will 100% eat something, it all looked so delicious.

I had the pleasure of dining at this fantastic Sri Lankan restaurant in Bamberg, and it was an incredible experience! From the moment I walked in, the warm hospitality and inviting atmosphere made me feel right at home. The food was absolutely delicious and full of authentic Sri Lankan flavors. I tried the Hoppers, which were perfectly crispy on the edges and soft in the center, just the way they should be. The Dhal Curry was rich and comforting, with a perfect balance of spices. The Beef Curry was another highlight, packed with deep, aromatic flavors and tender meat that melted in my mouth. And, of course, the Seeni Sambal added the perfect sweet and spicy kick to complete the meal. The combination of these dishes brought back the true essence of Sri Lankan cuisine. Everything was well-seasoned, fresh, and beautifully presented. If you're looking for a place that serves authentic Sri Lankan food in Germany, this is definitely a must-visit! I will definitely be returning to try more dishes. Highly recommended!

An all around perfect visit! Super delicious food prepared with a lot of love! Sufficient selection of vegan and vegetarian dishes too. Super friendly service. Both the starters and the main courses impressed us all. Plus a mango lassi, what more could you want? The prices are not cheap but definitely worth it and justified! Absolute recommendation! We will definitely come back!

I found the restaurant to be a kind of sports center. The food tastes really good. Visually it is usually not very appealing, but the taste covers that up. The service is slower in my opinion. The interior doesn't really fit "Sri Lanka". It's just completely normal. You could do a lot more with it.

A somewhat remote restaurant with a small menu. Nice staff, food is good, unfortunately mine wasn't well seasoned and the noodles were too soft relatively expensive. In winter there is sometimes an unpleasant draft through the restaurant

There is great food here that I can't prepare myself, tastes like in Sri Lanka, worth every euro.

The restaurant is a bit out of the way, but very easy to reach by car. There is free parking on site. The ambience is rather modern and inconspicuous. But the food is really the highlight, it is really delicious and very well seasoned. You can tell that the quality here is significantly better than in most South Asian restaurants. Nevertheless, I have to deduct a point because, despite the really good cuisine, I find the prices a little too high.

Delicious Sri Lankan restaurant in Bamberg. The authentic Sri Lankan dishes are delicious, but the portion sizes are quite small. Unfortunately, at the time of our visit there was a lot of fusion cuisine such as burgers etc, which are rather less authentic and are very much tailored to the German palate. We would like the menu to be significantly expanded to include original dishes from Sri Lanka, because that would be a unique selling point. Also authentically seasoned. The service is above average friendly and attentive, we really felt very comfortable in the Saphir. But the few Sri Lankan dishes are definitely worth recommending and worth traveling further afield.

I was at the Saphir with my mother in November when she visited me in Bamberg. The food was super tasty. Finally in Bamberg you can have something that you have never eaten before. The team was flexible regarding our reservation and the service team was super friendly and approachable. There is organic meat and simply super hospitable owners! We were the last ones and we had a nice chat! Absolute recommendation!

Went there several times because we liked the food. The first time, the service took forever even though we were early and there was only one other table occupied besides us. After 20 minutes the menu came, after 30 minutes we could order something and after 40 minutes we had something to drink. Similar the second time. On the third and final visit we waited over an hour for our drinks, in 34 degree temperatures. The food came 10 minutes before the drinks. The waitress somehow only brought out 2 drinks on the tray and then went back in...the other two waitresses didn't make any effort to help so that the overwhelmed pourer could be supported...(the outside area was half full) should go back to snacks change…they can’t provide service. Really too expensive for such poor service!

The two of us were there in the afternoon. The kitchen was still open after 2 p.m. and had hot dishes, which was very convenient for us. The traditional dish I ordered was very tasteful. The spices came through very well and overall the quality was very good. The portion size was reasonable and the dishes were fairly priced. Thank you for the pleasant atmosphere. Gladly again!

Very tasty food and very good service! After almost 2 hours of rowing in the dragon boat, we (12 people) deserved a good meal. And everyone actually found something tasty in “Saphir” and everyone was very satisfied. You have to do that first! 😉 At “Saphir” people are very hospitable and love what they do. You notice that and you taste it as a guest. We are happy to recommend this special restaurant and will definitely come back.

In the summer we had the entire restaurant with an outdoor area for a family celebration and were there in a large group of all ages. The preliminary discussions were very pleasant; we immediately felt our concerns were understood. At our request, a piano and a small loudspeaker system were also set up. The food was varied, there was something to suit every person, and it was very, very tasty, as were the imaginative cocktails. It was a wonderful evening. Thanks also for the good conversations “on the sidelines”!

We came to the restaurant through the gourmet block, which unfortunately was not recognized because the restaurant is no longer participating. As a courtesy we got 2 drinks on the house. The food was delicious, the portion was very large and the service was great.

The food was okay, but unfortunately the service is completely subpar! The lady is completely uninterested. Neither “nice to have you here”, nor “enjoy your meal” and not “how did you like it”. However, I stupidly tipped 10% like I always do. The lady didn't even say thank you. Napkins were only available upon request. The ambience and the location are actually quite good, but unfortunately it doesn't compensate for the rest in any way. Very unfortunate.

Wow... The food was beyond fantastic. Rarely have I eaten something so good in my life!!! The interplay of flavors, spices and consistency was simply perfect! The service and friendliness was also wonderful. I will definitely come again! By the way, the best mango lassi!
