Sale e Tabacchi is a long-running Italian restaurant nestled in Mitte that exudes its own cozy charm, complete with high ceilings that add to its inviting atmosphere. The food here is authentic and decent, offering a taste of Italy right in the heart of Berlin. One of the highlights for me was discovering that they also serve Bellinis, adding a touch of elegance to the dining experience.

Grazie mille to the Sale e Tabacchi team! We popped in on a Friday evening without a reservation and, despite the clock being on our backs, had a wonderful meal with you! The ambience is visually and acoustically reserved, but high quality; you immediately feel very comfortable. Among the main things: The service was very attentive and particularly courteous and friendly. We were also completely happy with the food – the tuna carpaccio with pink pepper and coriander is particularly recommended! And as banal as it sounds: the bread served as an amuse-bouche with the very aromatic, intense olive oil and salt alone is worth the visit. 😉 The open wines are also very good. Until next time – then with reservations so that we can enjoy you to the fullest.

I asked for permission to use the toilet and the men said no. When I said I'd pay you this, further no. It was really urgent, I was a little desperate and wanted to go to the toilet when one of the men stood in my way. I have never experienced more undignified behavior.

Ein gutes italienisches Restaurant nahe Checkpoint Charlie. Angenehmes Ambiente. Hier kann man bedenkenlos mit Arbeitskollegen zum Mittagstisch einkehren. Die Speisen und Getränke stehen in einem angemessenen Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis. Für ein Candle-Light-Dinner eher ungeeignet.

This is a high-end Italian restaurant where you can eat food made with high-quality ingredients. Although the food and wine are a bit pricey, I recommend this restaurant if you want to eat delicious Italian food. The high ceiling and well-decorated interior made it look even better.

Excellent Italian cuisine. There are new experiences with every visit, from starters to dessert. Pasta dishes and tartufo are particularly delicious.

The portioning is incorrect. Little sauce for mussels, just a spoonful of mashed potatoes and a lost cocktail tomato for an entrecote.

We went in me and a friend. I'm in a wheelchair and the waiter welcomed and treated us very unfriendly right from the start.

Super Essen und toller Service!

Food was good, service was good and friendly if you’re either a regular or it’s not a busy time. We had to wait 30 minutes after waving several times for someone to take our dessert order, while the table next to us gets an attention pretty quickly. In the end I’d rather not get anything more and just go get dessert elsewhere. Bottom line, the food quality is pretty good, and price is quite in line with what you get. But, I won’t be coming back and I don’t recommend this place because of the service issue.

Etwas überbewertet...und wenn voll auch laut

Mixed feelings here: food was good, service was average. After a misunderstanding during payment which should not have had any impact, we felt pressure about tip which was considered mandatory to be relatively high by the waiter(s) despite that we are not in the US so listed price includes service here. We guess that this is not a blocker for most people but on our side it makes us reluctant to come back. The room is noisy when there is a lot of people.

Essen ganz lecker, recht teuer, liegt wahrscheinlich an der Lage in Berlin..Leider gibt es keine Hafermilch oder andere Kuhmilchalternativen für die italienischen Kaffeespezialitäten, das sollte mittlerweile überall zum Angebot gehören Service sehr schnell, jedoch kann die Freundlichkeit noch verbessert werden

Prices are high. Service are very great. Food is also good. We got our appetizer and drinks very fast. One thing I really didn’t like is that there was no music in the restaurant. At all. When we came it was empty and service was running with the tables around us and making a lot of noise in completely quiet place. Then came a lot of people and restaurant was full. But still no music at the background. Tables are very close to each others. So you can hear everyone’s talk…The interior is old fashion. So in general atmosphere was not that pleasant.

We are talking real Italian business here. I love it. Fullfilled my expectations, I was studying it for a while before making my reservation. I tried once before, it was full. Last night, with a spontaneous call a table was available. Fresh food 🐙, great cooking and very comfortable atmosphere. Grazie mille 👌🏽

Wir waren zum frühen Dinner im Restaurant und hatten glücklicherweise kurzfristig einen Tisch reserviert. Angenehme Begrüßung und schnelle Bereitstellung eines Aperitifs. Die Speisekarte enthält viele Klassiker der italienischen Küche und alles was das Herz begehrt. Haben uns für Antipasti und Primi entschieden. Weinbegleitung ein Südtiroler Weißer - absolut passend. Essen sehr gut und empfehlenswert. Sehr lively Atmosphäre mit vielen internationalen Gästen - Kreuzberg eben. Empfehlenswertes Lokal!

I left this restaurant hungry! For the prices asked, there is not much on the plate and the quality nothing special. Not having any pizza (without a decent variaty of pasta) is also a no-go for me personally, especially if you have kids. For the price, I will not go there again.

Super jest wszystko dobrze i smaczne

Da wo die Kochstraße nun Rudi-Dutschke-Straße heißt (was den anliegenden Springer-Verlag wohl wütend machen sollte), liegt das Traditionslokal Salz & Tabak. Hier residierte früher auch die TAZ. Der Laden ist groß, der Innenraum ist gut besucht, die Terrasse voll. Die Karte hat alles üblich italienische, aber dazu auch eher Seltenes: Carpaccio vom Schwertfisch, frische Artischocken ... alles zu zivilen Preisen. Mittags kann man hier den Renn-Wettbewerb der älteren ital. Kellner bewundern, die schaffen wirklich was weg, und auch die Küche ist schnell. Man fühlt sich trotzdem zeitlich nicht gedrängt und genießt Italien pur.

Ein schönes Lokal, freundlicher Service und gutes Essen. Leider passt für mich das Preis/ Leistungsverhältnis nicht so ganz. Dennoch war es mal einen Besuch wert.

Very ordinary made worse by poor service. 20 minutes from being seated to first contact by waiter. Once we finally got served our dissatisfaction deepened. Pasta was over cooked (really guys, people have figured out how to cook pasta worldwide about 30 years ago). We cut our losses by canceling the rest of our order. Never done that in my life.

Also an sich muss ich sagen, dass es im Vorfeld super lief. Einfach online reserviert für mehrere Personen. Wir hatten einen tollen Platz auf der Terrasse nach hinten raus, die mit großem Markisen geschützt ist und auf der man gerne etwas länger verweilt. Die Preise, außer für Nachtisch, sind OK. Die Karte ist allerdings sehr unübersichtlich. Ich glaube ich hatte noch nie die Softgetränke auf der ersten Karte. Durch die monotone Schrift sieht alles gleich aus. Das Essen war gut, wenn auch die Portionen etwas größer sein könnten. Promis scheinen hier auch gerne hinzugehen. Was mich allerdings etwas gestört hat, war der Service. Die Bedienung war nicht sehr freundlich, bei 3 Kellern und eigentlich normalen Betrieb, hat sich nur selten jemand an den Tisch verirrt, was auch dazu führte, dass sich die Zahlung unnötig in die Länge zog. Extrawünsche z.B. das Weglassen wurde barsch abgetan, wäre schließlich mit im Preis. super, wirft man halt absichtlich mehr weg. Da ist noch etwas Luft nach oben, aber wen das nicht stört, ist hier auf jeden Fall richtig. Gut gelegen in Nähe des U-Bahnhof Kochstr. mit 1-2 Minuten Fußweg

Das Sale e Tabcchi hebt sich deutlich positiv vom Standard Italiener an der nächsten Ecke ab. In der Speisekarte finden sich die Klassiker der Italienischen Küche und auch einige "Specials". Im Angebot sind z.B. Carpaccio vom Rind, Schwertfisch oder Pulpo, geschmorte Artischocken mit Minze und natürlich diverse hausgemachte Pasta-Spezialitäten. Die Qualität ist hier wirklich hervorragend und der Service ist prima - ein Mix aus "Italienischem Charme" und typischer "Berliner Freundlichkeit" 😊 Es gibt eine gute Weinauswahl an Italienischen Weinen. Von Montag bis Freitag gibt es ein günstiges Mittagstisch-Angebot. Das S&T ist übrigens auch sehr beliebt in der Berliner Kunstszene und bei Journalisten des benachbarten Axel Springer Verlags - und es residiert im TAZ-Gebäude - insofern gibt es hier einen bunten Mix im Publikum und durchaus auch mal den einen oder anderen Promi.

Gehobener Italiener unweit des Springer Verlags. Sehr schön eingerichteter Innenraum, großzügige und überdachte Terrasse. Aufmerksamer und freundlicher Service. Die Speisen bewegen sich preislich im gehobenen Segment, aber das ist es allemal wert. Es gibt aber auch eine Mittagskarte. Die Pasta ist ein Traum. Pizza sucht man hier vergebens.

Es ist solch ein italienisches Restaurant wie ich es liebe - eher traditionell, klares Design, weiße Tischdecken, aufmerksamer aber nicht aufdringlicher Service, gute Qualität von Speisen und Getränken - aus meiner Sicht, auch dem meiner Begleitung - sehr zu empfehlen!

Edelitaliener in Berlin Kreuzberg. Nahe an Mitte gelegen. Sehr schön eingerichtet. Die Weine, das Essen und der Service ein Gedicht. Da geht man gerne hin, auch wenn es ein paar Euro mehr kostet.

Sehr schönes Ambiente auf der überdachten Terasse, kleine aber feine Karte, leckere Weine, aufmerksamer Service der allerdings mit dem vollen Haus zu kämpfen hatte - und nicht zuletzt ein sehr leckeres Essen.

Super schöne Atmosphäre auf der begrünten Sommerterrasse, man fühlt sich wie Zuhause. Ich hatte Burrata und den Tonno, beides war hervorragend.

Ich komme seit Jahren gerne nach Kreuzberg, obwohl das Lokal nicht um die Ecke liegt. Ich wurde nie enttäuscht. Das Ambiente ist angenehm. Das Essen ist stets schmackhaft, die Preise sind adequat. Die Weinauswahl gut. Der Service freundlich. Ich war in der Woche häufiger essen. Die beste Wahl.

A long time fan of this place: today they completely messed up! Disorganized, unfriendly service, horrendously long waits (1h till the main dish), overcooked, slightly warm‘ish food. Such a pity, guys!

Reservierung hat nicht funktioniert, Bahnhofshallenflair, sehr kurze und spezielle Karte, war nicht wirklich bemerkenswert. Schade

Oh wie gut es mal wieder war. Vor allem das Entrcote klang mir noch lange nach (Textur und Geschmack optimal!!). Trotz der voll besetzten Tische, waren Service und alle Gerichte toll. Wir hatten einen wunderbaren und köstlichen Donnerstag Abend im Tabacchi.

Geschmacklich überhaupt nicht angemessen zum preislich hohen Niveau. Salat sauer und Fisch neutraler, nüchterner Geschmack, vermutlich gewöhnliche Tiefkühlware. Einer der Kellner war nicht zuvorkommend sondern abfällig im Verhalten. In Italien vielleicht so üblich, in Deutschland nicht!
