Great food, Pleasant staff and very polite, Warm and cosy place! Nice location. We visit this restaurant frequently with family and friends. Love it. 😍

My expectations were not met at all. "Mahiche" was not cooked properly. The chicken tasted strange, and Kababs were average. So I believe dishes are quite expensive there. Btw, they only accept cash.

Hello, We came from Duisburg and had our annual dinner there. It was very difficult and impossible to make a reservation by phone. We remained convinced with the taste of the food. We were very disappointed with the service! The waiters don't speak German well enough. Toilets clean but nothing great. I would come again for the meal. But only for the food.

Absolutely no recommendation, I will never enter this restaurant again! With my visit to Safran Restaurant, I wanted to introduce Persian cuisine and hospitality to my non-Iranian friends. I am deeply ashamed of this decision. There were several problems with the online reservation. But the visit to the restaurant at 8:30 p.m. left me completely stunned. The food itself was okay, the portion sizes were average. However, the way the cellars treated us was shameful. The first male waiter with short black hair was extremely rude and inattentive. I had to repeat each order about three times because he was wearing headphones and couldn't hear me. When he was clearing up, he repeatedly asked me rudely to give him the dishes. Literally translated: give me the plate. But the crowning finale was when we were asked to finish slowly for the first time at 9:30 p.m., even though we still had all the drinks, because the shop was slowly closing. This was then repeated within 5 minutes by the same male Keller. Suddenly music started playing in the store at an unpleasant volume, making it difficult to hear each other. At 9:38 p.m. another cellar lady (or owner with straight black hair tied in a braid) came and told us in a very aggressive tone to leave the store because she wanted to go home to her children. When I pointed out to her that the restaurant is officially open until 10 p.m. and that my friends would like to finish their full glasses of wine, she completely freaked out. Of course, after a loud discussion, we left the restaurant completely horrified. When she paid, she cheekily expected a tip, which of course we didn't give. We happened to be walking past the restaurant again at 11 p.m. and the cellar lady in question was still sitting in the shop with her crew, wasn't with her children, was smoking and waving at us amusingly. I had to explain to my friends that this has nothing remotely to do with Persian hospitality and that this nasty and rude behavior does not reflect my culture but is just an indictment of the restaurant.

Stopped by spontaneously on Sunday evening and were lucky to get a table. Very nice atmosphere, extremely friendly service and really delicious food! An explosion in the tongue :-) Special requests were easily accommodated and the food was ready in a timely manner. Definitely worth a visit!

We were looking for a Persian restaurant in Düsseldorf, and Safran didn't let us down. Amazing food and beautiful decor. Highly recommended—it's the best Persian food I've had since I left Iran, even better than most restaurants back home. We ordered zarshak pilaf with chicken, vaziri and kobideh and it was all excellent... I wanted to bring us cheese bread and vegetables...

The restaurant was great! The quality of the food was excellent and a lot of everything Clean and tidy. Despite the busy environment, the atmosphere of the restaurant was still pleasant and relaxing. The taste of the food was really unique and the staff were very respectful and kind, which conveyed a good feeling to the customers. The overall experience was very enjoyable and I would definitely come back here again.

Hi, zunächst möchte ich gerne das Empfangsteam loben – die Mitarbeiterinnen sind sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Allerdings möchte ich einige Punkte bezüglich des Essens ansprechen. Der Kebab Kubideh entsprach leider nicht meinen Erwartungen. Der Safranreis enthielt keinen echten Safran, sondern war lediglich mit Lebensmittelfarbe versehen. Beim Kebab selbst hatte ich den Eindruck, dass nur etwa 20 Prozent tatsächlich Fleisch waren – was den Rest ausmacht, bleibt unklar. Auch der Salat schien unsauber und offenbar nicht ausreichend gewaschen zu sein, während der Reis insgesamt minderwertig wirkte. Ich erinnere mich, dass unter der vorherigen Geschäftsführung das Essen deutlich besser war und die Qualität streng kontrolliert wurde. Es scheint, als liege der Fokus des aktuellen Besitzers lediglich auf dem ??? und nicht auf der Qualität der Speisen.

Overall Impression: While the food at Shafran was enjoyable, the service was unfortunately a significant let-down. Food: The kabab barg and koobideh were cooked well. However, the joojeh kabab was slightly dry, which was a minor disappointment. Service: The service at Shafran was unfortunately lacking in several areas. An unpleasant waitress (which luckily didn't serve us) initially told us that we should have made a reservation, despite the fact that there were numerous empty tables throughout our meal. We were initially surprised to be asked to pay in cash as they claimed their system couldn't accept foreign cards. The staff in the bar area , who constantly let the utensiles fall down on the floor were distracting and uncomfortable. SLOW 🐌 service! The service was excruciatingly slow! Our food arrived late, and despite the waitress's efforts, her colleagues seemed deliberately uncooperative, hindering her access to the system and delaying our order and payment. We eventually had to intervene to remind them of our existence.. AT THE END we were not provided with a receipt after paying. This raises questions. It's possible that they may be trying to avoid paying taxes by asking to pay cash & not issuing receipts. Conclusion: While Shaftan offers decent food, the service issues significantly detract from the overall experience. If the restaurant wants TO IMPROVE, they need to address the quality of SERVICE!!!

We had to wait for almost 40 mins before someone took our order. Only to find out that there was multiple hair found in our food. We informed the staff and they didn’t seem to care and charged us full price on our meals. Not that we needed it, but they just didn’t seem to take it serious. I wouldn’t recommend this place mainly cause of hygiene and lack of courtesy.

Yesterday we were in this horrible restaurant, the food tasted really bad, the waiters could work as kitchen assistants in prison. I asked the waitress to recommend a salad. She brought me expired chopped vegetables, which smelled all over the table. When I pointed out to her why she was recommending something like that, she told me I should have chosen the salad myself and now I have to pay for it aha okay how am I supposed to do that, I'm not Iranian and I don't know anything about Iranian cuisine and if Iranian cuisine is such dog food then I don't want to get to know it any further! So my conclusion is never again and if people want to pay a lot of money for low quality and poor service then go ahead, but it absolutely put us off!!!

We were there this evening as a family. Very slow service, the two unpleasant waitresses, overwhelmed even though the restaurant was not full. We had to wait 20 minutes and call the waitress several times to come and take our order. On the other hand, the food is very good. The quality of the meat too. But a shame because the service must match the quality of the menu and its price otherwise no return.

We decided to go for my birthday dinner to Safran Restaurant although the previous ratings were really bad (however all of them 1 time rating which usually tells you something). The main reason we decided to give it a try was that whenever we passed by the restaurant it was most of the time very well booked - hence, usually a good indication, service was quite friendly but also a little bit unfocused on us as more and more guests entered at that time or sit outdoors. Our first visit to a Persian restaurant. I had the cooked lamb shank, which tasted incredibly delicious! The meat was very tender, the rice was fluffy and the sauce was well seasoned. Unfortunately we didn't like the skewers of minced lamb... a strange taste that we unfortunately can't describe, but the portion was generous. Unfortunately, the lady who served us was very unfriendly, seemed very uninterested and didn't smile once. The other employee (with the glasses), on the other hand, was very open and friendly.

I hope that if you are going to them on the weekend, you have a reservation. The place is small and crowded, the service is excellent, the food is wonderful, and the price is a bit high. They do not accept credit cards, only cash.

I politely said ok. A while later Germans/europeans at the next table were offered Cash or card ?. A while later when I was half way my food I was told to pay. I politely said I will no issue but please tell me why is this urgency I am half way my food. I questioned why was I not offered card? Then they realised I can speak German. And gave bullshit reason that time our internet was down so card payment was not working. The restaurant guy said we are closing. I realised was then the last customer. I said ok but you people are very rude don’t treat me right. He then said you can pay and sit and have food. Then after a while I was forcibly made to pay. After 10 min the guy started yelling saying I will call police you are eating too slow. Then they made me leave the food and forced me to leave. I had a horrible experience. Please don’t go to this place especially if you are of color.

Auf unser „Schüss“ und „Dankeschön“ wurde nicht einmal geantwortet. Es schien, als würden nicht alle Gäste gleich behandelt werden. Ate Persian for the first time and I was really excited about it. I can really recommend it there.

It's an incredible shame that the quality of Persian restaurants is declining significantly. As a Persian-German guest, the food was just terrible and disgusting, regardless of whether it was chicken, beef/minced meat, starters or dough. Dough tasted 1 to 1 like pure water, nothing of carbonated salt taste and for 7€ for 1L of it, you could have ordered a tastier starter straight away. Everything was dry, the portions were incredibly HIGH for the price (around €30!!!) and the service was also questionable. Nothing is brought to you in the form of salt and pepper if you want to sit out but that's just an aside. If you want good Persian food, and AUTHENTIC food, you should stay away from these restaurants and instead find a Persian friend. It's a shame that this can be the first impression of Persian culture for non-Persians, even though we pride ourselves on TOP hospitality and good service at every point.

I had a reservation today at 7:00 pm. I came in and told the waitress that I would like to set outside and waited for over 15 min without taking my order. The restaurant was half full. I had to walk out and find somewhere else to have dinner :)

The pounded kebab is extremely greasy and without the taste of pounded kebab, the grilled chicken did not taste like grilled chicken at all. This was the second time that we could not eat the battered kebab at all.

We were there on August 4th around 8 p.m. and a lady who had headphones on took all the orders and was very unfriendly and couldn't understand German. All the employees were good, except for the one lady who had headphones on. We asked if we could pack the food and she was very, very rude to us.

I was there today with a few colleagues and we had to wait at least 1.5 hours for the food. When we complained the employee was very rude, incompetent and loud. When I went to speak to her manager, no one came. I will never go there again and don't recommend it to anyone. There are many better Persian restaurants far better than this.

The food is great, the service is very attentive, even if it sometimes doesn't work in German, we got everything we wanted and were always served in a friendly and nice manner. Incredible lamb and chicken, the portions so generous we packed quite a bit. Typical Persian food, which you can also see in the numerous guests of Arab origin. If you want to enjoy something like that in top quality, you should come here!

The waitresses barely noticed us and it took almost 40 minutes before we could even order drinks. At times the music was turned up so loud that you could no longer understand your own words. They also didn't ask if we would like to order anything else. Instead, you had to repeatedly draw attention to yourself with hand signals, otherwise you would be treated like air. Overall, the dining experience was severely marred by poor service. It's a shame, because the restaurant deserves a better overall rating.

I recently dined at Safran and had an incredibly mixed experience. The food was good flavorful, well-prepared, and beautifully presented. Unfortunately, the customer service was the worst I have ever encountered. The staff was inattentive, rude, and seemed completely uninterested in helping customers. It's a real shame because the kitchen clearly knows what they're doing. I hope they can improve their service because the quality of the food deserves better.

I recently visited Safaran Restaurant, and while the food was fine, the service was absolutely terrible. We were attended to by two ladies whose attitudes were shockingly poor. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that customer service was not a priority for them. They were inattentive, slow, and seemed completely uninterested in providing a pleasant dining experience. Our orders were taken reluctantly, and any request we made seemed like a burden to them. Simple things like refilling our drinks or bringing extra napkins took ages, and we had to ask multiple times. Their rude demeanor and lack of professionalism overshadowed what could have been an enjoyable meal. It's a shame because the food itself was quite good, but the dreadful service made the whole experience highly unpleasant. I won't be returning to Safaran Restaurant, and I certainly wouldn't recommend it to anyone looking for good service. It's disappointing to see such potential wasted by such poor staff behavior.
