Manhattan Restaurant & Bar in Düsseldorf

We were guests at the Manhattan again today and can only warmly recommend this location. From the reception to the service to the food (great cuisine) everything was simply perfect. Here the boss is still looking after his guests. Many thanks to the entire staff for the great evening. Keep it up.

Had a delicious meal and a nice beer

Food was okay, burger sauce tasted a bit "cheap bottleded". Staff was not overly friendly but got their job done.

We were queuing for Janes Schweinhaxe opposite but the queue didn't seem to be moving so we headed to Manhattan instead. A mix of cuisine, American beef burgers to pasta to German Pork Knuckle. The Gambas were excellent but too pricey at EUR17 for just 5 pcs. The Cheese Burger was nicely done, with melted cheese over a beef patty with a slight char, sandwiched in a fluffy bun. A generous portion for one so I'm glad we had a group to share with. The Grilled Chicken on the Chicken salad was on point, again a big portion but nicely done. I didn't like the yoghurt dressing on the salad though. The Pork Knuckle is a good size but not up to mark and a far cry from Janes just across it. Service was friendly and the outdoor seating was lovely in this cold weather with the heaters on (which resulted in the slightly red/orange photos). This place is still worth it for the burgers, value for money with great taste.

The service was super nice, the food (in this case we had burgers) tasted okay in my opinion, but it's nothing special. I've eaten much better burgers. The burger buns were crispy, the fries were crispy and the salad was delicious, everything was fine, but the meat tasted really poor. It tasted unseasoned and very neutral :/

They are hurring you up to eat and drink as fast as you can so they can give table for next clients.

I was here at the restaurant last night to enjoy dinner. The ambience is relatively modern and there is mainly space to sit outside. There, however, heaters are used to help. Unfortunately, everything is kept relatively tight. The meal itself, a mushroom cream schnitzel, was very tasty and the portion was a good size. Next time you should leave the fries in the fryer for a minute longer. If I'm in Düsseldorf again, I'll come back!

Food was very tasty. The service ok. Within 3 minutes the waitress forgot who had ordered which drinks. (we two people and guests were hardly there). The food came in a reasonable time and so did the drinks. The ambience is ok

Place is very nice and the atmosphere is great for a comfortable dinner. Many options on the menu. It’s a bit pricey though. We ordered burgers, chicken schnitzels, fried calamari and pasta with salmon. Burgers were great, calamari was excellent, pasta was nice but the schnitzel was tasteless.

We reserved a table here with four adults. Had two schnitzels and two burgers. The food was completely okay in terms of taste and price. The service was friendly, but unfortunately you could actually die of thirst here...

We spontaneously came here with 12 people for a JGA and were immediately offered two tables for us. We had a sensational meal without any expectations. The spare ribs fell off the bone. Others had burgers and that was also excellent. The boss came and gave us a delicious round of schnapps, which is not a given for 12 people. We'll be back!

Unfortunately, I have to differentiate myself somewhat from the previous speakers. About my review. The service was very polite and helpful and was available to help with the selection. The food was prepared quickly and the steak was served on a warm pan. However, there were deductions in the subjective assessment of quality. The steak was generally a bit tough and tasted rather middle class. However, you also have to take the price/performance ratio into account. For around €30 you get 350g of sirloin steak. The burger was far too dry for me and had a rather neutral taste. I would have expected more for around €20. All in all an average experience.

The burgers & side dishes are really good. The steaks are just ok. Steaks are served on additional grill plates that don't fit on the small tables. The meat continues to cook on the plates, so that in 7 out of 8 orders we received "well done" instead of "medium" and the herb butter had completely disappeared in the meantime. The side dishes were served 15 minutes earlier than the main course and were cold with the main course We were there on a Saturday evening with a larger group and it was well attended. Nice service!

Absolutely not our cup of tea. Unfortunately it was some sort of ready-made schnitzel with a pop parnade. In addition, very cheaply, small fries and a pepper sauce where a few peppercorns were simply added to a very thin gravy. Our stay was on October 19, 2024 around 2 p.m.

Super tasty, the service was very friendly and the food came very quickly. The ambience is beautiful and the food tastes simply good.

We were there around 2 p.m. and wanted to sit down. The waitress rudely sent us away without greeting us or really making eye contact because they were still closed and didn't tell us when they would open again (all the tables were already covered). Either the opening times weren't right, or she didn't feel like having customers. The good thing about it is that we really liked a restaurant nearby that we wouldn't have discovered otherwise and visited spontaneously.

We ate there yesterday and sat outside despite the rain and it was very comfortable, the food was perfect and the waitress was very nice and friendly. We'd love to come back.

Yesterday afternoon we ordered 2 schnitzels with a side dish with drinks and bread as a starter. When ordering, it started strangely when the waiter took the order from the side and hid it safely behind a guest... normally you stand in front of the table. The starter came quite quickly, the aioli was delicious and the bread was suitably crispy, but the drinks took a while to arrive. The main course was almost inedible. I ordered two schnitzels, both were only lukewarm and the sauce was really thick and spicy for both (gypsy and chapion sauce) Fries were standard, only the salad was fresh. Unfortunately the optics from the store were deceptive.. Visually good, food quality not so good unfortunately.

Decent service and decent food which is firmly aimed at the tourist market. The prices are reasonable and the food is too. If you’re hungry, it’s a decent option but there are better places literally all around it.

Wir hatten darum gebeten, dass der Hauptgang noch etwas auf sich warten lässt, 3min später wurde dieser serviert mit dem Kommentar: der Koch hatte schon begonnen, ich kann ihnen das Steak jedoch warsmstellen, wenn sie möchten. Bei einem Restaurant mit diesen Preisen und insbesondere Steaks ist dies ein absolutes no-go

So today was the first time I ate here. The pepper cream schnitzel wasn't tasty, the sauce was horrible and the fries were hard. It was probably due to the full old town. So for me it was nothing at all.

I was looking for an authentic German food but the food was not quite authentic. We ordered schnitzel and pork knuckle. They were both dry and overcooked. They served with coleslaws instead of traditional Krautsalat or sauerkraut. I wouldn’t recommend if you are looking for an authentic German food.

Sorry. They don't stick to reservations and become aggressive when you express their displeasure. Absolute no-go!

Pork and chicken schnitzel are really good

The food was good but the price/performance ratio might be a bit high due to the location. This time I wanted to try chicken schnitzel for a change. Maybe I should have preferred meat. Otherwise the mushrooms and pasta were good. However, even though the restaurant was empty when we were there, the lady who was in charge of the service had a long face. I hope everything is fine.

Delicious food, good schnitzels and a rooster breast. Meat was tender. Despite the crowds during the European Championships, the service was good, fast and friendly.

Food is average, service below average. We were charded 10 % tip without being asked … it is not a place I would recommend.

I ate a burger there today, the worst I've ever eaten, inedible. In addition, I had diarrhea 4 hours later and it was definitely from the food. Great place to sit and watch the hustle and bustle of the area. However the burgers that we had were nothing great, they lacked flavor and the bun to burger ratio was way off which makes eating a pain. Would definitely try somewhere else next time, but they have a large menu so maybe just picked the wrong items.

We were a group (11 people) in Düsseldorf at 10 p.m. on Whit Sunday looking for something to eat together. We were then approached by an employee on the street at the restaurant asking if we would like to eat something there. We were hesitant at first, but after we agreed we went in. We were immediately given a table for 11. We waited a bit for the food but that wasn't a problem because we knew there were tables in front of us and with a monster order of 11 it might take a while. To eat: We ordered 7 burgers, 3 penne pasta & a schnitzel A burger was forgotten (can happen) but came out immediately 3 minutes later. Nothing was done wrong with our order with any extra requests. The food was delicious and we were full. Ambience great. Prices are also fair. We give the store an 8/10.

I was very disappointed with the Manhattan restaurant. I honestly don’t know how they have earned so many apparent excellent reviews. The staff were utterly miserable. No customer service at all. The food was mediocre at best. I ordered the schnitzel and found the meat to be chewy and poor quality. Next door to the restaurant is a tobacco/vape shop and people are constantly smoking outside. So the smell drifts into the restaurant which I find repulsive. There are lots of other restaurants in the area which I’m sure would be much better. I recommend to avoid.

Very quick service. The food was there after 5 minutes. Unfortunately, this was also noticeable in the temperature. The fries and burgers were both lukewarm. The chicken wings were a bit spicy and tasted like little else. The burgers were ok. The service was very friendly, although the team was sometimes a bit too quick, which gave me the impression that they wanted to get rid of us as quickly as possible.

My advice, avoid this place. Original post: I recently visited the Manhattan in Düsseldorf and although the experience was ok, there were a few things that left me wanting more. Apparently there was a change in ownership because the food now only tastes average. Apparently they have adapted to the old town level.

In the old town of Düsseldorf there are many tourist rip-offs who offer cheap food and bad service because they know that most of them will never come back anyway. This restaurant is an exception to that. The service is fast and friendly, the dishes are delicious and the portions fill even real men. Bread with aioli and then a burger with fries and I had to fight.

Manhattan salad really bad. 90% base shredded iceberg lettuce. Apart from mushrooms, hardly any other vegetables. Overall tasteless. Worse than McD. Rump steak, fries and sauce also tasteless. Unfortunately not again. Price-performance poor. There are enough alternatives in the old town.

I recently had dinner in Manhattan. Unfortunately I have to say that my steak, which I ordered medium rare, was served almost raw, the service was slow and I waited half an hour just for my drink and another 30 minutes for my food, which I ordered at the same time as the drinks . The steak and fries we ordered was a very small portion for almost €30.

The service was very good. We quickly had our drinks and also the food. The food was plentiful and tasted good too.

My schnitzel was ok, not a highlight but not bad either. The burgers of the other three were good, but like the schnitzel, not a highlight. But here too: bad service. The starter dishes were still on the table when we paid and no one asked if everything was good for the main course. After everyone had finished eating, we sat there for almost 30 minutes without paying any attention, despite the fact that the waitress was nearby several times. The bill only came after asking three times. In summary, one can say that the food was ok in terms of taste and price, although it was higher. We were out and about in Düsseldorf's old town and had an appetite for a delicious steak with a delicious salad. No sooner said than done and we quickly decided on the Manhattan. It took a while until we were served, but that was okay. We ordered a fitness salad with our steak. This should contain lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, carrots and corn for a price of €12.90. Sounded very good. We received a full plate of iceberg lettuce, 2 small cocktail tomatoes halved, 4 slices of cucumbers that looked a little older, 2 very thin half strips of pepper and a fingertip full of finely sliced ​​carrots. The salad looked more like a side salad only with a little more iceberg lettuce in it. We had informed the waitress that we were dissatisfied, especially at this price we found the salad to be an impertinence. Since our meat wasn't ready yet anyway, we just paid for our drinks and then went to another restaurant. The waitress, very sweet and friendly, apologized several times for this, but the least she can do is do anything about it. We will generally avoid this store in the future. Everyone has good days and bad days, but we felt really ripped off.
