Incredibly beautiful! Just what you need after a strenuous day at the trade fair 😍 Great service and very friendly people. The atmosphere between staff and manager was incredibly pleasant and respectful… At least as far as I could tell 👍🏻 Great location and excellent drinks

Guests not welcome... ...especially not with bicycles! We were out with a larger group today and stopped briefly because we urgently needed to use the restroom or two. After what felt like a minute, a person (unknown whether it was staff or manager/owner) came running up and, in an incredibly rude manner, sent us off the parking lot, which is used by a maximum of two cars, with the words, "I don't care, I have the right to refuse entry here and you must leave this parking lot immediately!" The phrase "Don't drink & drive," which adorns the sign at the exit, takes on a whole new meaning here with a different translation: don't drink anything and drive right away! I'm aware that non-customers have no legal right to use the restroom, but I still see • Article 1 Paragraph 1 of the Basic Law (Human Dignity) and • Section 240 of the German Criminal Code (Coercion) or • Section 323c of the German Criminal Code (Failure to Provide Assistance) being unkindly flouted. Therefore, I cannot recommend this establishment in any way! A quick browse through previous reviews confirms the downward trend of this establishment, and the one star required for a rating is two stars too many!

Be careful: the owner has a thing against cyclists. After we wanted to take a quick break with a larger group of cyclists in the 90% empty parking lot, we were banned from the parking lot without asking.

This was my second time at the Burghof beer garden with several people. First, the few positives: the view is great, my meal (baked potato with chicken) tasted good, and the price was reasonable. And I think the parking fee, which can be offset against the restaurant price, is great. But that's about all the good stuff. Now, the criticism: the drink prices are absolutely outrageous! A spritzer and a shandy for just under €12 (!!!). A truly undrinkable cappuccino and two even worse espressos for a whopping €10. The completely burnt waffle with nothing on it cost a whopping €4, and the tarte flambée, which none of the four people liked, cost €14-15. Simply outrageous!!! On top of that, you constantly have to line up and wait: 1. to order food, but for waffles outside and for other things inside – so at TWO different locations in two different lines – and then you have to pick up the food yourself, even though the prices are so outrageous. You'd think they'd pay for a certain level of service?! The display boards were barely legible in the sunlight, and when my number was shown, I had to wait another 10 minutes because the food wasn't ready yet. The "furniture" in the beer garden had its best days a few years ago, and the restrooms are a hygienic disgrace, similar to a portable toilet. All in all, I wouldn't go back to the place – not even for the amazing view of the Rhine.

The Burghof, a Wintergarten very popular with locals, boasts the most idyllic setting in the area! The prices are very reasonable, the drinks are good, and there's plenty of seating. You'll share large tables with large, unfinished wooden benches, giving you the opportunity to mingle with your neighbors or, on the contrary, to stay in a small group. The service is incredibly friendly and helpful; it's a real pleasure, thank you very much! The men's and women's restrooms are adorned with a magnificent piece of art that's quite... disturbing. @lvs.kid

Unable to add ice cubes to a cappuccino in the summer. Oat milk still won't be available in 2025 😂👍🏼 - when asked, the response is snarky. This is exactly the kind of gastronomy no one needs anymore.

Beautiful location with a view of the Rhine, but the rest was disappointing. The website said card payments starting at €10, but when we got there, the waiter simply said "cash" without any explanation. The service was unfriendly and made us feel unwelcome. Great visuals, but terrible service.

The way of ordering isn’t quite clear because the numbers on the board aren’t correct. So you have to go and check your order anyway. The food is simple but ok. Nice cocktails. I liked the atmosphere of the old ruins and closeness of the river- gorgeous!

A visit to the castle courtyard is always something special!

The castle courtyard in Kaiserswerth is a truly magnificent place during the week. In the shade of tall, ancient trees, I gaze down at the Rhine, the passing ships, and the expanse of fields on the other side of the river. The cappuccino and cake are delicious, as are the cold drinks, and I let my thoughts wander in peace. And it's blissfully empty. Almost a meditative place.

Burghof is always worth a visit! Especially if you can sit outside. Incredibly cozy beer garden with mature trees and a view of the Rhine and Meerbusch.

The castle courtyard is fantastic! It was really hot today, and the seating under the old trees is wonderful. The service is friendly and helpful. The food: there were 11 of us. The salad with goat cheese was very good! Unfortunately, the tarte flambée was all really cold :-/ The pancakes with Nutella were like one pancake (slightly warm) and two tiny pots of Nutella, just like you'd expect from a hotel breakfast. The goulash was really good and filling! We got waffles later, which were really delicious and made a la minute :-)) We'll definitely be back, but not so soon

A fantastic beer garden with good food right on the Rhine, not far from the ferry. The location is a very popular day trip destination.

Burg Hof – Where the Rhine isn't the only thing that flows (namely, the beer too)! A real insider tip – or rather, a not-so-secret tip, because it's simply too good not to pass on! Burg Hof is like a mixture of medieval flair and Rhenish coziness. If you don't say "Oh, it's so beautiful here!" at least once, you either haven't been there or you have taste buds made of concrete. The view? Postcard-worthy. The service? Fast, friendly, and with typical Rhenish wit – that makes the Altbier twice as good. The food? Home-style cooking like Mom used to make, only with a better view. The fried potatoes have probably already secured peace treaties between hungry guests. Ideal for relaxing, lingering, or simply slowing down – and if you slow down too much, you can take a nap in the castle ruins across the street (note: not officially permitted – but historically romantic!). Bottom line: When you leave the castle courtyard, you'll either be in a good mood, have a full stomach, or both—and that's more than you can say about some medieval visits. 😄🍻

For anyone ordering a drink by glass, I recommend checking the sink water; pay attention to the calibration mark on beer!

Very tasty Flammkuchen and great Spanish almond cake with Licor 43. Very friendly service and nice location. The interior is completely dark brown, including the walls, but tastes differ. We will definitely come back!

Unfortunately, cyclists are not welcome here. Even with moderate activity, we weren't allowed to park our racing bikes in the beer garden and were rudely asked to leave the restaurant.

A truly beautiful beer garden under huge trees with a fantastic view of the Rhine...unfortunately, there's not enough room for four people because the volume in the beer garden is so loud and simply unbearable. Unsuitable for conversation, and for switching off and relaxing, only with low-noise headphones.

We were in the gallery today in bright sunshine. We quickly found a table under the blooming chestnut trees on the Rhine - great beer garden ambience. The food was good, the menu was reduced to the essentials - there was something for everyone. The service was quick and friendly - that's how it should be We'd love to come back if we get the chance.

The castle courtyard is beautifully situated and the beer garden has a great view of the Rhine. We stayed in the winter garden. First we ordered various cakes and warm drinks. Carrot cake €6.90 per piece, vanilla strudel with warm vanilla sauce €8.50!! Unfortunately, the taste and quality did not correspond to the price. The latte macchiato for €4.80 was a joke! It consisted of a monochromatic liquid with light milk foam. Visually and tastewise it may be a disappointment. My fully automatic coffee machine at home and the self-service coffee machine at work conjure up a better, delicious latte macchiato with 3 different colors. Not to be compared with the monochromatic liquid in the castle courtyard! The 0.2l juice spritzers are served in glasses without a calibration mark. The glasses were therefore filled to different levels. Conclusion: The shop is definitely good for a beer in the beer garden. Nothing more, unfortunately. The women's toilet area was nicely designed, but didn't seem particularly clean.

After eating, a dental treatment to restore the tooth enamel is definitely necessary 😅 Well, this castle courtyard looks really beautiful, and Kaiserswerth itself is worth a leisurely, idyllic walk! BUT: the food and drinks IN this castle courtyard (outside the beer garden, inside this "stand-up café" it looks more like an opportunity to quickly down something while standing with your hiking backpacks!) are an absolute, but entertaining no-go. I had a salad that appeared to be soaked in vinegar essence. At first I thought it was just the first fork that was unfortunately heavily coated in vinegar... but, as I realized after each subsequent push of the fork: it just kept getting worse! The vinegar felt like it was burning away my tooth enamel, so I was forced to get a small bottle of water out of my backpack in addition to the drinks I had already ordered in order to rinse my teeth again and again! I had to laugh and shake my head in disbelief at times, after 4 forkfuls of this acid attack and also a gaping hole in my mouth (oh goooood when I think about it I have to laugh again because that's just completely absurd!!!) I then stopped eating this caustic dish. I then worked on reducing the acidity in my mouth with the help of other liquids. My counterpart's espresso was actually a coffee that had been poured with water and probably didn't taste good, and here my backpack came to the rescue again: I took out a pocket coffee (which didn't taste good for coffee and espresso connoisseurs), which drowned out the lousy taste of the espresso and was described as "tasting significantly better". A pancake was probably served at the table next door, but this cake was probably on fire because it was completely burned on top. Another customer said that his cappuccino was just water with powder and didn't taste good either! To be honest, I still laugh and shake my head at all these absurdities! However, I think you can't go wrong with beer or cold drinks in the beer garden... In this café, however, there is neither a nice atmosphere nor can we recommend any meals or warm drinks there!

Nice restaurant. Dropped by spontaneously around 5 p.m. as we were coming back from the airport. I can highly recommend both the schnitzel and the goulash. If the situation arises, I would dine here again. However, the table-chair constellation is something to criticize. Four people at a table are very tight.

The veal schnitzel and the goulash were fantastic. I can only imagine how great this place would be in the summer. We also went to the enclosed winter garden for a drink after our meal. They were very accommodating for a family member with a dairy allergy. The bathrooms are also very interestingly decorated.

A typical beer garden that only lives from its location. Far too few service staff take orders for drinks outside. So you have to wait an extremely long time at peak times. The food is ordered there and then picked up. The quality is really good. Unfortunately the portions are relatively small. The prices for food and drinks are far too high for us personally. Here you just pay for the location accordingly. Unfortunately not really recommended. However, you can have a good view of the water.

The beer garden must be awesome, but in November you just sit inside. Rustic, quaint, cozy. The food is good, really tasty and reasonably priced. The girl at the service was attentive and really helpful. We can recommend it 😉😋

A very nice restaurant. We always love coming here to eat tarte flambée. As always, the food was very good but unfortunately the service was very bad today. She didn't even ask if we wanted something to drink. And the great thing was when we asked for espresso at 8:10 p.m. we were told that there was no more because the machine was already clean. Today we went there again to eat tarte flambée. The edge of the tarte flambée was black and burnt in all 4 dishes. At 8 p.m. we would have liked to order an espresso to finish. Coffee machine has already been cleaned and turned off. We've probably been eating there regularly for 13 years. But now for the second time in a row, the quality of the food has decreased and then so has the service. The grade for this would be 5.

I was in the Burghof for the first time over 30 years ago and we love coming back every year, especially in the summer. The atmosphere is rustic outside and inside. Candles make it really cozy in the evening. The dolls and decorations are adapted to the respective season. The beer garden invites you to linger. Depending on where you sit, you have a great view of the Rhine wherever there is going on. You sit at super long tables. When it's really crowded you sometimes have a problem getting on or off the bench. The guests are completely mixed in terms of age. The beer garden is partly in the shade so that you don't get sizzled away. In summer it is sometimes busy during the week, but on the weekend all hell breaks loose. The menu is very manageable. The tarte flambée is very tasty, as is the brewery goulash with spaetzle. The pancakes too. Years ago you got 2 slices of meat loaf with a fried egg, fried potatoes, coleslaw and caraway bread. The fried potatoes have been gone for a long time and only one of the 2 slices of meat loaf is left. Luckily, a small jar of coleslaw and the caraway bread made it. But these days it's not cheap anywhere anymore. We always like to come because we first go for a walk with the dog along the Rhine and then, when the temperatures are good, we go to the beer garden. Various cakes and fresh waffles are available in the afternoon. If you're lucky, you can park in the parking lot in front of the castle courtyard. A visit is definitely worth it. The beer garden here is really cozy, very quiet and there is shade under the old chestnut trees even when the sun is really shining. And in the less comfortable times of the year you go indoors where it is nice and cozy and warm. The service is always very friendly. We'll definitely be back.

I went here for dinner with some work colleagues. The location is nice (the one star is for it), the outdoor area is right on the Rhine - but that's about it. Unfortunately there are two points to complain about: - There is no WiFi for guests or vegan dishes, although their website states that both are available. You can't set a goal for yourself that you ultimately don't achieve! - Prices for drinks and food are quite high, but the quality is not particularly outstanding. Card payments are only possible from €20.00, which is also not up to date. Pretty disappointing, I wouldn't come again for now - a shame...

We were there for dinner during the week and we got a table despite not having a reservation. The location is very nice and the staff is extremely friendly and personable. First there was a chilli sin carne and a baguette with aiolo with bread. The chilli and aioli were very tasty, but unfortunately the baguette wasn't. The slices were very dry and tasted as if they had been sitting in the bread basket for a few hours. The tarte flambée tasted very bland and dry, although the seasonal chanterelles were good again. The spaetzle with the goulash was also rather dry and heavily fried, the meat was tasty and the dark sauce was quite intense in taste. Roast beef with baked potatoes was okay and the remoulade with it was very tasty. During our stay we were not actively asked for new drinks and a reorder was forgotten. It's actually a shame that the potential of the location is wasted through simple things like dry bread. It's certainly nice here for a trip with a quick stop for a few drinks, but unfortunately I can't really recommend dinner.

The pancake with apples is not recommended. You can tell that they were made in very old fat. The dough is way too thick and almost raw in the middle. In my opinion it no longer has the quality it once had years ago. It may be that everything else there tastes good... but today was a failure for me. Hence the long queue at the waffle stand 😉😀

Nice beer garden. We had white sausage with laugrn pretzel! The pretzel was probably 3 days old and so hard and dry that you could only wash it down with beer! Conclusion: nice atmosphere with poor cuisine!!

Visited the castle courtyard again for a long time. Unfortunately the visit was a disappointment. The ambience is very nice with a view of the Rhine.. Unfortunately the food was a big disappointment for the price. We had 2 Erdinger Weizen for €12.20 1 aioli with bread €5.20 1 brewery goulash €16.90 1 tuna salad €14.20 The bread with the aioli was dry and tasted of nothing The brewery goulash was very bad and not seasoned The salad was no longer completely fresh, tuna from a can and the salad tasted like the Aldi salad from the bag. It's a shame with such an atmosphere...

The Galerie Burghof is recommended, just because of its location directly on the Rhine and in the beautiful Kaiserswerth. The beer garden with the old chestnuts invites you to linger. The staff is very friendly, the small menu is completely sufficient. We had a lovely time and will certainly come back.
