Very nice atmosphere, very crowded without reservation very difficult to get a seat. Food very tasty but stupidly regulated, you have to pick up your own food and order it from 3 different stands.

After eating, a dental treatment to restore the tooth enamel is definitely necessary 😅 Well, this castle courtyard looks really beautiful, and Kaiserswerth itself is worth a leisurely, idyllic walk! BUT: the food and drinks IN this castle courtyard (outside the beer garden, inside this "stand-up café" it looks more like an opportunity to quickly down something while standing with your hiking backpacks!) are an absolute, but entertaining no-go. I had a salad that appeared to be soaked in vinegar essence. At first I thought it was just the first fork that was unfortunately heavily coated in vinegar... but, as I realized after each subsequent push of the fork: it just kept getting worse! The vinegar felt like it was burning away my tooth enamel, so I was forced to get a small bottle of water out of my backpack in addition to the drinks I had already ordered in order to rinse my teeth again and again! I had to laugh and shake my head in disbelief at times, after 4 forkfuls of this acid attack and also a gaping hole in my mouth (oh goooood when I think about it I have to laugh again because that's just completely absurd!!!) I then stopped eating this caustic dish. I then worked on reducing the acidity in my mouth with the help of other liquids. My counterpart's espresso was actually a coffee that had been poured with water and probably didn't taste good, and here my backpack came to the rescue again: I took out a pocket coffee (which didn't taste good for coffee and espresso connoisseurs), which drowned out the lousy taste of the espresso and was described as "tasting significantly better". A pancake was probably served at the table next door, but this cake was probably on fire because it was completely burned on top. Another customer said that his cappuccino was just water with powder and didn't taste good either! To be honest, I still laugh and shake my head at all these absurdities! However, I think you can't go wrong with beer or cold drinks in the beer garden... In this café, however, there is neither a nice atmosphere nor can we recommend any meals or warm drinks there!

We have loved the castle courtyard for a long time. Whether in the restaurant or in the great winter garden and in summer especially in the beer garden directly on the Rhine - a great place!

Nice restaurant. Dropped by spontaneously around 5 p.m. as we were coming back from the airport. I can highly recommend both the schnitzel and the goulash. If the situation arises, I would dine here again. However, the table-chair constellation is something to criticize. Four people at a table are very tight.

I love the winter garden when it's stormy outside and it's wonderful to see. By the way, a pancake with cocoa. A dream!

The Burghof Gallery impresses with its excellent service, where the employees are always friendly and attentive. The idyllic location on the Rhine rounds off the experience perfectly. A visit is worth it!

The veal schnitzel and the goulash were fantastic. I can only imagine how great this place would be in the summer. We also went to the enclosed winter garden for a drink after our meal. They were very accommodating for a family member with a dairy allergy. The bathrooms are also very interestingly decorated.

A typical beer garden that only lives from its location. Far too few service staff take orders for drinks outside. So you have to wait an extremely long time at peak times. The food is ordered there and then picked up. The quality is really good. Unfortunately the portions are relatively small. The prices for food and drinks are far too high for us personally. Here you just pay for the location accordingly. Unfortunately not really recommended. However, you can have a good view of the water.

The beer garden must be awesome, but in November you just sit inside. Rustic, quaint, cozy. The food is good, really tasty and reasonably priced. The girl at the service was attentive and really helpful. We can recommend it 😉😋

Today we went there again to eat tarte flambée. The edge of the tarte flambée was black and burnt in all 4 dishes. At 8 p.m. we would have liked to order an espresso to finish. Coffee machine has already been cleaned and turned off. We've probably been eating there regularly for 13 years. But now for the second time in a row, the quality of the food has decreased and then so has the service. The grade for this would be 5.

A very nice restaurant. We always love coming here to eat tarte flambée. As always, the food was very good but unfortunately the service was very bad today. She didn't even ask if we wanted something to drink. And the great thing was when we asked for espresso at 8:10 p.m. we were told that there was no more because the machine was already clean. I was in the Burghof for the first time over 30 years ago and we love coming back every year, especially in the summer. The atmosphere is rustic outside and inside. Candles make it really cozy in the evening. The dolls and decorations are adapted to the respective season. The beer garden invites you to linger. Depending on where you sit, you have a great view of the Rhine wherever there is going on. You sit at super long tables. When it's really crowded you sometimes have a problem getting on or off the bench. The guests are completely mixed in terms of age. The beer garden is partly in the shade so that you don't get sizzled away. In summer it is sometimes busy during the week, but on the weekend all hell breaks loose. The menu is very manageable. The tarte flambée is very tasty, as is the brewery goulash with spaetzle. The pancakes too. Years ago you got 2 slices of meat loaf with a fried egg, fried potatoes, coleslaw and caraway bread. The fried potatoes have been gone for a long time and only one of the 2 slices of meat loaf is left. Luckily, a small jar of coleslaw and the caraway bread made it. But these days it's not cheap anywhere anymore. We always like to come because we first go for a walk with the dog along the Rhine and then, when the temperatures are good, we go to the beer garden. Various cakes and fresh waffles are available in the afternoon. If you're lucky, you can park in the parking lot in front of the castle courtyard. A visit is definitely worth it. The beer garden here is really cozy, very quiet and there is shade under the old chestnut trees even when the sun is really shining. And in the less comfortable times of the year you go indoors where it is nice and cozy and warm. The service is always very friendly. We'll definitely be back.

I went here for dinner with some work colleagues. The location is nice (the one star is for it), the outdoor area is right on the Rhine - but that's about it. Unfortunately there are two points to complain about: - There is no WiFi for guests or vegan dishes, although their website states that both are available. You can't set a goal for yourself that you ultimately don't achieve! - Prices for drinks and food are quite high, but the quality is not particularly outstanding. Card payments are only possible from €20.00, which is also not up to date. Pretty disappointing, I wouldn't come again for now - a shame...

We were there for dinner during the week and we got a table despite not having a reservation. The location is very nice and the staff is extremely friendly and personable. First there was a chilli sin carne and a baguette with aiolo with bread. The chilli and aioli were very tasty, but unfortunately the baguette wasn't. The slices were very dry and tasted as if they had been sitting in the bread basket for a few hours. The tarte flambée tasted very bland and dry, although the seasonal chanterelles were good again. The spaetzle with the goulash was also rather dry and heavily fried, the meat was tasty and the dark sauce was quite intense in taste. Roast beef with baked potatoes was okay and the remoulade with it was very tasty. During our stay we were not actively asked for new drinks and a reorder was forgotten. It's actually a shame that the potential of the location is wasted through simple things like dry bread. It's certainly nice here for a trip with a quick stop for a few drinks, but unfortunately I can't really recommend dinner.

The pancake with apples is not recommended. You can tell that they were made in very old fat. The dough is way too thick and almost raw in the middle. In my opinion it no longer has the quality it once had years ago. It may be that everything else there tastes good... but today was a failure for me. Hence the long queue at the waffle stand 😉😀

Slow service/not enough staff, but a nice view. The smallest white sausages and the oldest pretzels in the world are served here.

Nice beer garden. We had white sausage with laugrn pretzel! The pretzel was probably 3 days old and so hard and dry that you could only wash it down with beer! Conclusion: nice atmosphere with poor cuisine!!

Visited the castle courtyard again for a long time. Unfortunately the visit was a disappointment. The ambience is very nice with a view of the Rhine.. Unfortunately the food was a big disappointment for the price. We had 2 Erdinger Weizen for €12.20 1 aioli with bread €5.20 1 brewery goulash €16.90 1 tuna salad €14.20 The bread with the aioli was dry and tasted of nothing The brewery goulash was very bad and not seasoned The salad was no longer completely fresh, tuna from a can and the salad tasted like the Aldi salad from the bag. It's a shame with such an atmosphere...

The best place i found in 2024 summer

The Galerie Burghof is recommended, just because of its location directly on the Rhine and in the beautiful Kaiserswerth. The beer garden with the old chestnuts invites you to linger. The staff is very friendly, the small menu is completely sufficient. We had a lovely time and will certainly come back.

Very nice beer garden, seating under ancient chestnut trees. You sit rustically on wooden benches and can enjoy the sunset in the evening. Everything you need for a nice beer garden evening is on the menu. Tarte flambée is particularly recommended. A detour to the Kaiserpfalz and the beautiful district of Kaiserwerth nearby is recommended.

Although officially open until 11pm, it was not possible to get a drink after 10:30pm. We were suddenly informed that it had already been the last round and that the bar was closing at 10:15 p.m. However, this change was not communicated to us, so we ended up sitting in the bright cleaning light. Unfortunately, the service from this site is not recommended.

This rating is really very difficult for me because we are talking about a really extraordinarily beautiful location in a very best location. The atmosphere was extremely appealing but why do you make so little of it. The service was clearly overwhelmed by the rush and the selection on the menu was simply too small. Yes, I know the occupancy of the store speaks for the concept, but a little more remains desirable for “me”.

Food service was non-existent and the quality of the food was unfortunately extremely poor. Especially the portion size. 3 salad leaves with chicken for 16€ and a goulash with 3 pieces of meat for just under 17€. It's a shame because the store itself is very nice. Since you paid for the food in advance, you couldn't even arrange not to pay for it.

Great beer garden right on the Rhine!

The service is friendly so far, but if it says on the internet that the store closes at 11 p.m., I expect that you can at least order a drink until 10:45 p.m. Unfortunately, it is not communicated beyond that that this is the last beer the last round is about. At least that should be communicated so that you can plan accordingly. Instead, you don't get a drink (or eat anyway) from 10:15 p.m. and are thrown out at 10:30 p.m. due to unpleasant floodlights. Why should I sit here for 45 minutes? Because the ambience with the floodlights is so cozy?

Great place for Flammekuche and views of the Rhine. Typical finger food. You order inside (they speak English!) and wait for your number

Visited the castle courtyard again for a long time. As usual, the beer garden is equipped with extra-long tables and benches. The view of the Rhine is beautiful if you sit correctly. Drinks are delivered. You have to get the food yourself when a corresponding number is called. The tarte flambée is thin and crispy, more cheese than sour cream and is made into a vegetarian tarte flambée using untreated halved cocktail tomatoes and also untreated rocket. It's not just better. That doesn't work at all. Prices are too high in view of this. Overall, no recommendation. The beer garden thrives solely on its location.

In contrast to the city of Bonn, where there are such beer gardens every few hundred meters on both sides of the Rhine, the "Burghof" in the state capital next to the old Rhine ferry is a big positive exception along the Rhine. When in Kaiserswerth, the Burghof with its great view of the Rhine and the dining options is always a recommendation.

This beautiful beer garden is in an excellent location on the Rhine and looks unique at sunset. The castle courtyard used to be my first stop when the weather was nice. Unfortunately, the quality of service has deteriorated so much that it's hardly worth going there without being disappointed. I was last there on July 19, 2024 with a total of eight colleagues who didn't know the beer garden yet. We ordered our food at the counter in the interior of the castle courtyard at the same time. Although the beer garden was only about 1/4 full of guests (surprising on a Friday afternoon in high summer temperatures), the meal (mini white sausages and a few tarte flambées) lasted almost three quarters of an hour or more. You could pick up the food at the kitchen counter next to the toilets with a number given out. The tarte flambée I ordered wasn't even prepared. Not even when the digital display for the number failed, my colleagues had already finished eating and especially not after the second reminder from me. I then forewent any further waiting time and therefore also the tarte flambée and had the amount refunded. Explanation from the kitchen: They would not be able to meet the many guest requests. Incidentally, there was no apology. What happens when the beer garden is full? It's a shame, a shame... another beautiful location is going to waste due to poor service and a lack of customer focus.

Very nice and relaxing ambiance, with view on the Rhein. Perfect for a Biergarten afternoon or summer evening. Was a bit disappointed that my goulash only had four small pieces of meat, small portion of Spätzle, but with a nice salad. For nearly €17 I would have expected something a bit more substantial.

One of the most beautiful beer gardens in Düsseldorf, if not in Germany. Directly on the Rhine in Kaiserswerth. Truly a unique location. Especially at sunset. The service is impeccable. The design takes some getting used to, but the absolute plus is that now, in 2024, card payments are actually possible without a minimum amount!!! This is e.g. B. practically impossible in the casemates in Düsseldorf's old town. Congratulations on this decision.

Nice place on the Rhine. It's good to go for a walk. I had a beer and a waffle there. Was very busy on Sunday. Ordering was complicated, you could only get coffee and cake inside and get it yourself. Cold drinks would be needed. You also had to get your own waffles.

We were there on June 26th. in the castle courtyard. Unfortunately we had no luck that day. It wasn't self-service, we had to wait for the overwhelmed waiter. Various service staff stood behind the counter and smiled at the audience and a desperate waiter tried to determine what drink he wanted, it was pitiful to watch. It was just too crowded for a waiter. We were able to get a beer after 1 hour, but not another. The neighbors had to wait longer for their drinks. Many people left because there were no drinks on almost all tables. Only the owner/managing director knows what went wrong in the allocation of service staff. We then went somewhere else and it was great.

Location with a lot of potential, but little is made of it. Tables and benches are left natural, but could be reworked (moss, etc.) There are no seat cushions, even upon request. Food is ok. Nothing special. Of course the view of the Rhine is great.

Llamé a Berghof para comer algo. Pedimos el currywurst y era muy sabroso y lo recomiendo encarecidamente para un bocadillo rápido. El currywurst venía con pan y la salsa tenía trozos de piña que le daban un sabor dulce y agrio. Mejor que el currywurst que he comido en Berlín. También grandes vistas del Rin. No puedo esperar a volver ❤️

Last Sunday I was in Kaiserswerth with a group of eleven people and we spontaneously stopped by the castle courtyard. The employees were very polite and courteous. It was no problem for the staff to put together a few tables for us. The food was very tasty and the atmosphere was very cozy. There is outdoor and indoor dining, a service area and a self-service area. Access to the beer garden is barrier-free. The prices are reasonable. Highly recommended.

We were there during the week. The ambience and the view are magnificent. The prices, on the other hand, are less. The service was quick, but the busier it got, the more hectic it became. The food was nothing special and the plate should have been put in the dishwasher again.

The scenery here is amazing. The food is nice. It is a very nice place to have food with an amazing view. It is also self service, so u need to order at the counter and go pick up your food yourself. But it’s worth it.

Wir waren unter der Woche um 16.30Uhr hier. Es waren noch wenig Gäste da und wir haben den Aufenthalt sehr genossen. als wir um 18Uhr gefahren sind, war es deutlich voller geworden. Die Bäume und Holzbänke im Biergarten sorgen für ein tolles Ambiente und man hat eine herrliche Sicht über den Rhein. Die meisten Radfahrer stellen ihr Räder unten am Wasser ab. Wir haben unsere Räder oben am Zaun abgestellt. Mitnehmen ist nicht erlaubt und Fahrradständer stehen oben nicht zur Verfügung. Der Gartenbereich ist nicht barrierefrei. Essen muss man sich selbst bestellen, es gibt keinen Service. Man bekommt eine Zahl und wird aufgerufen. Bezahlen muss man beim Bestellen, nicht beim Abholen. Getränke kann man sich bringen lassen und bestellen. Diese muss man ebenfalls sofort bezahlen, damit die Bedienung den Überblick behält. Wir hatten beide eine Ofenkartoffel mit Quark, Salat und Hähnchenbrustfilet. Das war absolut ok und auch lecker. Hätten gerne mehr Sterne gegeben. Aber die fehl. Barrierefreiheit, find ich schade.

Been back in the castle courtyard after many years. The elevated view of the Rhine is unbeatable. You sit under huge, shady trees and enjoy the excellent Altbier.

For me, the old “Rolls-Royce” with a hen in it is the symbol of the complex. Every time I have to look inside like a child. The bizarre toilet, which can be described as an art object, always amazes me when I look up ;) The terrace is beautiful and the view of the Rhine adds extra kick and excitement. I can happily recommend it.

Our occasion was a funeral service. The castle courtyard made these hours very pleasant and personal for us, with decorations, very tasty tarte flambée and cheesecake and particularly nice service. Added to this is the view of the Rhine, which is soothing and special in every situation. Thank you for these beautiful hours.

Relaxed sitting in summer with a cool drink. Mixed and pleasant audience. Nice proximity to the Rhine. Light breeze. Food corresponds to an upscale snack level. Simple dishes prepared perfectly, also good for bike tourers. Walks through the old town and along the Rhine to the ferry are fun here, the "Burghof" is always part of it, attracting like a magnet. Down to earth. Burghof collective.
