Nice cozy little place to have dinner. The owner was really hospitable and food was good.

The food was alright. The serving sizes were also smaller than usual. But when we asked about it, we were given a extra serving for 2 dishes, as we had ordered 7 different mains. As a bigger group, the general consensus was that the food was subpar. Maybe it was a different day in the kitchen but the chaos was either overcooked or undercooked at different places. The veggies were not flavoured well. The pakodas were also different - zucchini ones as well which are not traditionally north indian. The service was impeccable.

Our absolute favorite Indian restaurant, you enter the store and are greeted by a calm and cozy atmosphere. The owner greets you with a handshake and keeps an eye on everything. The food is high quality and very tasty! We always enjoy coming back and have already recommended the restaurant to many friends.

Very nice owner who also does a lot of the operation. Every guest is personally welcomed and advised. Portions are not overly large, but you will feel full. Dishes could be a little spicier Indian. Our first address when we are in Heidelberg.

We stopped in to grab some food to go after a long day. The food itself was great! I wouldn’t hesitate to eat there again, but what sold it for us was how we were treated while we waited! They were incredibly kind to us and so hospitable. Definitely put this place on your list if you enjoy Indian food!

Quite disappointed at the half-hearted food. The chicken korma was very basic, and the chapati and garlic naan were essentially just flat tortillas, not doughy+crunchy like real naan would be. The Pina colada was tasty, though!

The host and owner is kind and helpful. The ambience is pleasant and the space is comfortably lit and quiet. Our party of four spent a pleasant evening and shared the chicken masala as well as the daal lentil and the korma vegetable dishes and the lamb with spinach.

A friendly environment with a good food, during our 4 days visit, we had our dinner here for 3 days, that tells you the reason for writing this review.

We visited this restaurant for dinner. The chilli chicken was dry and tasteless. The bhindi was sweet and so was the chana. The roti were rubbery and hard. Please visit at your own risk.

Best food and best restaurant in Heidelberg…

The food was good and came quickly, but we didn't feel comfortable there because the waitress cleared everything away straight away even though we weren't all finished yet. It was very rude and we didn't want to stay there for long. We also had to pay in cash, even though the EC device worked. And when that was clarified, there was some reason why everything wasn't on the invoice and then payment was supposed to be made in cash, very dubious...

Nice clean restaurant and the waiter was very efficient and friendly. The food was tasty, but there was not a lot of chicken in the Masala dish hence only 4 stars.

We happened upon the restaurant completely by chance and were very satisfied. Naan bread, butter chicken & chicken tikka masala with rice as a main course and filled dumplings as a starter were very tasty. 👌🏼 The owner of the restaurant was very friendly and had a nice chat with us. We felt comfortable and ate really delicious food.

For the price the food was let’s say bland. It mainly caters the local population, Not ‘Indian’ enough - for example the chicken soup was mainly chicken broth with a LOT of coconut milk!! The green chutney with pakora platter was just not good. Mutton biriyani was ok, but quantity was small. As for ambience/ Location: I was there on a summer afternoon, except the two tables at the main entrance rest were too warm to sit. view in front of the restaurant was not good.

I“ be been here wird a few colleagues and wie had a very nice evenimg. The Service stuff was very nice and especially Ttlsi, Muk an Kelthovi habe been sbsolutely sweet. A big thank you also to the Chef Pankaj who created the very wonderful Food for us. Thank you very Kuch to the Manager Raza. He was always around and was Talking very good care of us. I will be back at this wonderful place for sure!

Super nice service and delicious food.

The taste of the food was unspectacular, I know several Indian restaurants nearby where it tastes much better. The amount was far too little, I didn't get full (and I'm a woman who doesn't need a lot of food to fill up...). In addition, the price was very high, generally expensive for a portion, but far too expensive for the quantity (approx. 15€/portion). The naan was more of a warm tortilla flatbread. The service staff was friendly.

My friends and I have eaten here several times and each is always as good as the last. Every dish we have tried has been outstanding, and the service is on point. This is one of the best Indian restaurants I've visited in Europe.

The service was so bad, Butter Naan we ordered was cold and hard, the person serving the food was with full of attitude and not friendly. Would not go back here for sure.

Bad service. He gave us stale food and when asked about it, he mentioned he will replace but never arrived. We waited for the food for 10mins and when asked again he said he cancelled it from the order but did not inform us. Service is oriented towards Western clientele and not equal. If so, why bother visiting?

Not suitable for Indians looking for genuine Indian food. Quantity and Quality of the food were below average.

My husband picked up the food, the dishes themselves didn't taste bad but the curry was very little, 5 pieces of chicken in butter chicken and way too much rice, that should be the other way around. The butter chapathis were not very tasty and very tough, we got a mint sauce that tasted and smelled exactly like toothpaste. It is also too expensive. Since the price-performance ratio is not right, we are looking for another Indian next time.

A very nice restaurant with very nice and polite service. The food was great and there was also a good selection for vegetarians. The food came quickly, the portions were adequate and filling. The prices were also appropriate. The atmosphere was pleasant and calm. Anyone who likes Indian food has come to the right place. Definitely worth a visit (or more).

I'm not from Heidelberg and I discovered it by chance on a business trip. The first visit 2-3 years ago was very good, so it was clear to me where I had to go when I was back in Heidelberg. Very good food service. Next time you visit Heidelberg, come back

Very small dishes,quite expensive the poppadoms 4€ each seem a bit pricey,not much veg in curry and very small pieces of chicken in vinadloo we ate it all and enjoyed it as we was hungry,my coke was flat

Authentic, friendly staff. We felt very comfortable. The portions were adequate and very tasty. The naan bread was freshly made. This restaurant is recommended and the price-performance ratio was also perfectly fine!

Wir waren gestern dort zu dritt essen und waren sehr zufrieden. Der Chef hat uns direkt bedient, war sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit und hat uns trotz fehlender Reservierung zu Stoßzeiten noch super unter bekommen. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Das Essen war portionstechnisch super und, am wichtigsten, wahnsinnig lecker, das beste indische Essen, was ich bis jetzt gegessen habe! Also wenn ich das nächste Mal wieder in Heidelberg bin, komme ich auf jeden Fall wieder!

Super ! Tous les plats étaient très bons, je n’avais jamais mangé des aussi bons plats indiens. Le serveur est très sympathique nous avons discuté avec lui et il nous a conseillé des choses à visiter autour d’Heidelberg. Le rapport qualité prix est bon aussi, nous en avant eu pour 54€ environ pour boisson plat dessert à 2. Merci !

Das Restaurant ist zweckmässig eingerichtet, es fehlt aber das gewisse Etwas. Aufmerksamer Service. Die Vindaloo Portion war überschaubar, um nicht zu sagen eher in Richtung Kinder- bzw. Senioren Portion, jedenfalls wurden wir nicht satt. Zum Glück gab es dann noch ein Kuchen Dessert im "Extrablatt" an der Hauptstrasse.

Wir waren 2021 schon einmal hier. Bestes Essen in Town..!! Jede Speise ein Geschmackserlebnis. Bei unserem nächsten Heidelberg Aufenthalt werden wir auf jeden Fall wieder hier essen. Der Service ist grandios, besser geht es nicht.

Top Lokal! Wir wurden vom Inhaber bedient und er war super aufmerksam und höflich und hat sich für jeden Gast Zeit genommen. Chicken Korma mit Naan und Reis waren super lecker. Wenn wir nochmal in Heidelberg sind, werden wir dort auf jeden Fall wieder einkehren.

Wir waren gestern mit Freunden zum ersten Mal hier essen und wir hatten einen wunderbaren Abend! Das Essen hat hervorragend geschmeckt, der Inhaber hatte uns bedient und war super nett und sehr kinderfreundlich. Wir werden definitiv wiederkommen! 😊

Sehr schönes indisches Restaurant. Das Butter Chicken war Klasse und das Personal war sehr freundlich. Innen ist das Restaurant sehr schön eingerichtet und die Außenfläche ist in Ordnung.

Das Essen war an sich sehr lecker. Leider muss ich dennoch etwas Kritik üben. Anders als in manch anderen Rezessionen hier, wurden unsere Speisen nicht auf Warmhalteplatten geliefert. Dadurch wurde das Essen leider etwas kalt. Außerdem finde ich, dass eine Scheibe (ca.20cm Durchmesser)Naan für 4€ ein Witz ist. Hätte meine Begleitung keinen Reis bestellt (sehr üppige Portion), hätte ich mein Butter Chicken mit der einen Scheibe Naan sehr gut einteilen müssen und wäre vermutlich hungrig wieder gegangen. Immerhin war der Kellner sehr nett.

Very average restaurant with tasteless dishes and small portions. I had Indian dishes in many Restaurants throughout Germany-Austria-Switzerland but this was the worst. The restaurant is run by a South Indian family who have no idea about north Indian cuisine. They actually don’t know the taste of north Indian foods. I don’t even think that any restaurant can serve such an awful Butter Nun (3.50 euro per nun) which is nothing but tawa roti with butter (which turned chewy and hard within 3 minutes). An Indian restaurant should know the basic items. I am giving 2 star for cleanliness and interior of the restaurant. For food quality- portion-price I will give only 1 star.

Was für ein wundervoller Abend! Wir waren das 1. Mal hier in diesem Restaurant vor ein paar Tagen und schwärmen immernoch davon. Das Essen was sehr gut, aber was uns in 1. Top! Nettes Ambiente, wirklich freundlich, fast herzlicher Service. Essen sehr überzeugend, Verglichen mit vielen anderen indischen Restaurants bei den Top 10%. Preislich völlig in Ordnung.

Etwas hochpreisiger als so manch anderes indisches Restaurant aber jeden Cent wert. Werden gerne wieder hingehen! Essen war super lecker und das Personal freundlich.

Das Essen hat sehr gut geschmeckt! Die Linsensuppe war auf den Punkt gebracht: Die Linsen waren schön weich schmelzend, aber nicht zerkocht. Auch das Hühnchen war wunderbar weich und hatte eine sehr angenehme Schärfe. Der Service war aufmerksam und sehr freundlich. So stellt man sich das vor! :-D

Muito boa a comida. Fomos atendidos pelo pai e filho, que foram muito atenciosos. Eles são do Sri Lanka e muito simpáticos. Opções variadas e preço justo.

Geschmacklich war es in Ordnung mehr aber auch nicht. Sehr teuer wenn man es im Verhältnis zu der Menge sieht. Maximal 100 gr Fleisch und drei bis vier Löffel Soße und das für € 18 + nochmals 3 für den Reis extra. Und für vier dünne Fladen Garlic Naan € 7 zu nehmen ist schon sehr heftig.

Ganz ok. Die Vorspeise war klein und lauwarm. Das Hauptgericht lecker aber wenig. Insgesamt schlechte Preis-Leistung.

Having observed the outside menu and established the prices seemed well above average I wrongly assumed the food would match … Extremely small portions and tiny pieces of lamb if you cold find them.Burnt papad which were 2.50 euros for one .tasteless rice . Miniature Samosas rendered them really bland. All in all an extremely disappointing time only to be topped off by being charged twice for my main meal. Luckily this was spotted by me !! NEVER ever again… stay clear and look for an alternative restaurant

Wir waren am letzten Wochenende das erste Mal im Saffron in Heidelberg. Das Curry war super lecker und auch der Service war TOP! Gerade fürs Wochenende muss man zwingend reservieren!

In diesem Restaurant speise ich seit der Eröffnung immer wieder und gerne mit meiner Frau und/oder Freunden. Das Essen ist ein reiner Genuss, unabhängig davon, ob man sich eher für pikante oder für mild gewürzte Gerichte entscheidet, für Gerichte mit oder ohne Fleisch und Fisch. Es gibt für jeden Geschmack was Passendes, und wenn man sich nicht sicher ist, dass die eigene Intuition einem zur richtigen Wahl verhilft, wird man auf Nachfrage immer freundlich beraten. Das Lokal ist außerdem so eingerichtet, dass man sich sofort wohl und entspannt fühlt. Keine grelle Beleuchtung oder laute Musik, sondern komfortable und warme Einrichtung. Einfach ideal für schöne Gespräche am Esstisch oder einen romantischen Abend. Die Bedienung ist stets sehr höflich und freundlich. Auch an Abenden an denen viele Gäste im Restaurant saßen, hatte ich nie den Eindruck, vergessen zu werden.

Wij hebben hier heerlijk gegeten en gedronken! Fijne service en goede uitleg over alle verschillende soorten gerechten. Echt even fijn als je niet wéér hamburger, worst of schnitzel wilt eten.

Ich warvor kurzem zum 2. Mal mit Freunden beim Saffron Essen. Wir haben auch schon verschiedene Indische Restaurants getestet und müssen einfach sagen: Das Saffron ist eine TOP Adresse. Das Essen hat uns alle sehr gut geschmeckt (Mixed Grill Teller/2x Chicken Tikka inklusive Vorspeiseteller). Das Ambiente des Restaurants ist sehr schön. Durchaus lobenswert sind auch die sehr netten Bedienungen, die sich trotz Stress auch Zeit für ihre Kunden nehmen. Die Wartezeit für das Essen war auch angemessen. Dafür, dass das Restaurant sehr gut besucht war, mussten wir nicht lange warten. Fazit: Das Restaurant ist sehr empfehlenswert und einfach ein Muss für Liebhaber Indischen Essens.

A nice little restaurant, vegetable pakora starter was nice. Mixed grill tandoori was also nice although probably 80% chicken and then 1 prawn and 1 piece of fish... no lamb. The naan was tasty but not what I am used to in the UK. This was way thinner and crispier. I was offered a vegetable curry to have with my meal but this was not complimentary. I realised this when paying my bill The service was good and the waiter was working really hard as the restaurant got quite busy. I’d advise booking a table
