Wir hatten spannendes und leckeres Essen. Wurden sehr nett bedient und hatten eine schöne Zeit im Safari. Wir können das Essen und den Besuch dort absolut empfehlen.

Ein Fruchtbier aus einer Schale trinken, daß Essen mit den Fingern zu sich nehmen, ein tolles Ambiente genießen und von netten Bedienungen kulinarisch verwöhnt werden, dann ist man hier richtig. Ich war sehr angenehm überrascht von den wirklich leckeren Essen und dem guten Bier dazu. Es wird nicht mein letzter Besuch dort gewesen sein. Aufgrund der Größe des Lokals sollte man lieber, grade an den Wochenenden, reservieren. Die Reservierungsbestätigung läßt nicht lange auf sich waren.

Sind hier erstmals eingekehrt und waren vom feinen „authentischen“ Essen wirklich begeistert. Der Service ist sehr freundlich, die Atmosphäre entspannt und die Preise fair - was will man mehr? Gerne mal wieder ostafrikanisch in Kaiserslautern.

You can't get better food or service in Germany. I told my friend that he'd dance when he ate it and he thought I was crazy. He danced lol. I've been coming for over a year and I crave this place.

Der Besuch im Safari war ein kulinarische Gaumenfest für uns. Wir haben bewusst eine Platte mit verschiedenen Gerichten genommen und es war sehr lecker. Das Ambiente war sehr gemütlich und ansprechend. Der Service war herzlich und Hat sich Zeit genommen mit unserem Sohn einen Spaß zu machen. Es hat uns sehr gut gefallen.

We had the vegetarian platter for two people. With Timtimo, Alicha, Okra and Shiro. Everything was delicious and highly recommended! African cuisine is of course very diverse and in this case (Ethiopian/Eritrean) an absolute delight. The service was also very good. Friendly, competent and we asked every now and then whether everything was OK. We'll be back, very soon..!

First time I tried Ethiopian food, it was delicious and I would love to come back again. Unique eating experience as you use a flatbread to pickup your food to eat . Nice and spicy with good variety.

The food was extremely tasty and the service was very nice and explained everything very well 😊 We had the fruit beer with mango and with passion fruit from the traditional bowl 🎊 For the main course we had a vegan and a lamb dish 😊 We traditionally ate with our right hands ✋ At the end we had Ethiopian coffee from a clay pot with (if you wanted) sugar and popcorn 😍

Totally authentic restaurant, very tasty food (especially with your fingers if you want 😉), beer is served in “bowls”, staff are consistently friendly and accommodating. Tip: you should reserve in advance

Yesterday I experienced a new culinary highlight that was unknown to me. African food... Safari Kaiserslautern. Be sure to reserve, otherwise you don't have much chance of getting a table. I don't know what it looks like during the week. But there is a lot going on there on weekends. Staff very friendly. The menu is not overflowing with many dishes containing meat (chicken, lamb and beef), but vegetarians will also get their money's worth. Since many of the dishes were unfamiliar territory for me, the staff helped and explained exactly what they were. Ordered a starter platter and got all the small dishes that were served with a salad. Plus dips. The main course was served in a small oven with the meat still simmering in the sauce. Not only did it look exciting, it also tasted very good. You are served "African flatbread", which reminds us Germans of a pancake that tastes a bit sour. This means that food is traditionally eaten with your fingers. There is still cutlery. You can order side dishes. Absolutely brilliant in taste. If you like it a little spicier, you can use a spicy paste to season it. Afterwards an Ethiopian coffee... Absolutely top price for what you get. In the restaurant there are pictures and decorations that make you feel like you have been transported to East Africa for the duration of your stay. I can recommend Safari to anyone who wants to try something different.

There were two of us and we had a very nice evening. The food came quickly and was delicious. Service exemplary and good price/performance ratio. Happy to come back!

If you appreciate African cuisine, this place is a must! Particularly recommended as a starter are the Sambusa (also known as Samosa), which are very tasty. If you come in a group, you should try one of the combination platters. This gives you a very good impression of the diversity of Eritrean cuisine. Afterwards, black rice and a freshly roasted coffee!

In my opinion one of the best and most authentic restaurants in Kaiserslautern. Consistently very good quality over the years. A clear recommendation and simply worth an experience!

Super tasty and simply something special! We liked it very much. Attention: some dishes are a bit spicy and overall the food was well/strongly seasoned. However, we found it tip top. Unfortunately, the service wasn't that attentive and we waited for a very, very, very long time - but that didn't detract from the lovely evening.

Es war ein schöner Aufenthalt in einem ungewöhnlichen Restaurant. Das Essen war sehr lecker und authentisch. Man war gehalten mit den Fingern zu essen. Wir hatten uns für eine fleischlastige Vorspeisen- und Hauptgerichtplatte entschieden. Also von Allem etwas! Das Bier wird in Schalen gereicht. Wir kommen wieder.

Ein außergewöhnliches Restaurant! Ein schönes Ambiente und sehr leckeres Essen. Wir haben die vegane Platte gegessen und waren begeistert. Die Portion war sehr groß. Auch zu empfehlen war das Mango Bier, was in einer Schale gereicht wird, sowie der äthiopische Kaffee. Die Bedinung war sehr freundlich. Ist mal etwas anderes zu den herkömmlichen Restaurants. There were three of us in the restaurant. Found the stay very pleasant. Food was absolutely delicious. Since we couldn't decide, we ordered the meat platter for 3 people. It was slightly spicy but not too much. We were all fed up and will definitely visit this restaurant again.

We were here for the second time today and we are thrilled. We had a mixed platter and found the various dishes really tasty. The Safari Restaurant is highly recommended and the service was also courteous. We were completely satisfied. You're doing everything right. You're welcome to keep it up :)

When I'm in my old home, I always like to be a guest at the safari. The food is just so delicious and suitable for both meat eaters and vegetarians. You can share plates or order something for yourself. You should also try the African beers, whether fruit-flavored or neutral. You should always reserve a table; getting a seat spontaneously is rather difficult. 5 stars from me!

I've never eaten African food before and was really pleasantly surprised. It was all very tasty. The food is generally very spicy and slightly spicy. I particularly recommend the following dishes: Sambumsa, Shiro and Zigini Berai The service was also great and the atmosphere was cozy. We'd love to come back!

Very cozy, rather small restaurant. The atmosphere is very nice. The food is incredibly tasty, it's an interesting experience eating it with your hands :) There's a bit of a wait for the food, but it's definitely worth it! Only recommended.

The food is good so far, but it would be great if the spiciness of the food was pointed out...since not everyone can tolerate spiciness. Otherwise great. The coffee is very tasty. The portions are sufficient. The staff are very nice and the beer in different flavors is very interesting.

Safari is a superb Eritrean restaurant, serving authentic dishes and exceptional service. The moment we walked in the door, we were greeted like family. Everyone exuded warmth and welcome, with genuine smiles and an obvious love of what they do. My only regret was that I could not finish all my food, because the portion is sizeable, but I will be back.

I just eat Shiro and drank coffee. The Shiro is as authentic as it can get. The atmosphere and staff are really nice.

The food was super tasty. We had a platter of various dishes. I've never eaten African food so deliciously. The ambience matches the dishes. The waitresses were very nice and quick. All in all, a great experience and highly recommended!

When my nephew suggested Safari Restaurant which primarily serves Ethiopian, and Eritrean food, I was eager and enthusiastic to visit it because the last time I tasted Ethiopian food during our Cape to Cairo road expedition, I liked had liked it. Of course, during that expedition, we were fortunate enough to get an opportunity to taste authentic Ethiopian food by the Ethiopian chefs in Ethiopia itself. One of the reasons I liked Ethiopian food could perhaps be that like Indians, Ethiopians also like it spicy. Though the spices they add in their preparations are different than the ones used by the Indians, the net result is the same, they make them taste mouth wateringly hot and spicy. Additionally, the Ethiopian bread called 'Injera' made from the teff flour (similar to a crêpe) is very similar to the bread prepared in Southern India called 'Dosa.' We visited 'Safari Restaurant' on a weekday evening. It wasn't crowded at all. The interior was well lit, and decorated on the African theme. We were immediately seated at a table for two, and handed over two menu cards. Menu was nicely printed with local names of the dishes along with their respective ingredients and short descriptions, and photos. It helped a lot. I ordered "Tsebhi Derho with Alicha" for myself, whereas my nephew ordered "Zigni Denish with Shiro" for him. According to the menu, "Tsebhi Derho with Alicha" means Chicken drumstick and boiled egg slow cooked in a light spicy onion tomate sauce, seasoned and refined in the traditional way; it includes side salad and three Injeras, and "Zigni Denish with Shiro" means Beef and potato cubes slow cooked in a slightly spicy onion and tomato sauce, seasoned and refined in traditional way; it includes side salad and three Injeras. To drink, we also ordered beverages "Shirley Temple" (Ginger Ale, Sprite, grenadine, lemon) for me, and "Virgin Caipirinha" (Ginger Ale, lime, brown sugar) for my nephew to go with it. Our orders were delivered without much wait. They looked appealing and appetizing. We ate our dishes with hands like we eat dosa. The food was good. We both enjoyed our respective dishes, and drinks.

Mega delicious and special food that definitely deserves more than just an experience. Will definitely come back. The atmosphere is also very pleasant and, contrary to previous fears, it is not kitschy, but appropriate.

The environment made me relive a trip to Africa that I took this summer. The restaurant is family-run and you can tell by the care of the treatment and the kindness of the staff. The quality of the food is phenomenal and the portions are truly generous. It was an authentic dinner and a unique experience.

Ein sehr schönes , authentisches Restaurant mit sehr leckerem Essen und tollem Service. Preis - Leistung passt absolut! Vorher Tisch reservieren, da das Restaurant selbst unter der Woche gut besucht ist . Wir kommen gerne wieder, da wir einen phantastischen Abend dort verbracht haben und der afrikanischen Küche näher gekommen sind, die wir nun kennen und lieben gelernt haben. Unbedingt, wie in Afrika wohl üblich, mit den Fingern essen und das Fruchtbier aus der Holzschale trinken 😉 Macht Laune !!

Das zweite Mal afrikanisch essen gewesen. War zuvor in Köln gewesen und wollte mit Freunden das Restaurant Safari testen. Sehr freundlicher Empfang und Bedienung. Ambiete typisch afrikanisch mit nicht störender afrikanischer Musik. Einzigartige Biere in verschiedenen Geschmacksrichtungen und leckere Cocktails. Essen reichlich, nicht zu scharf und geschmacklich gab es bei allen Gerichten nur Lob. Wir werden wieder kommen.

Das beste was ich sagen kann ich daß ich bedauere nicht bereits früher dort gewesen zu sein. Das Essen ist sehr gut und wir waren alle begeistert. Die Mitarbeiter die wir erleben durften waren alle sehr nett und kompetent. Kann ich nur empfehlen

Als wir das niedliche Restaurant betraten empfing uns ein sehr herzliches und warmes Ambiente; sehr gemütlich und angenehm. Ausnahmslos alle Mitarbeiter/innen waren überaus freundlich. Das kleine Restaurant ist picobello sauber. Die Gäste sind bunt gemischt und das finden wir schön. Das Essen war überragend gut- wirklich absolut fantastisch und auch unsere alkoholfreien Cocktails waren sehr lecker! Alles in einem eine absolute Empfehlung und wir werden definitiv wieder hingehen! Beautiful place with great food. The portions are big. Prices are reasonable. I tried their lamb dish and it was delicious! Parking might be difficult depending on what time you go. They accept card payments.

Wir haben unseren Sohn in Kaiserslautern besucht und sind auf Empfehlung von ihm, hier zusammen essen gewesen. Die Gerichte waren für uns neu, aber wir waren alle begeistert. Der Service war sehr freundlich und schnell. Beim nächsten Besuch werden wir gerne wieder hier essen.

Der Besuch im Safari Restaurant war eine wirklich interessante kulinarische Erfahrung. Die Platten mit unterschiedlichen Gerichten kann ich nur empfehlen - abwechslungsreich und lecker.

Klein und feines afrikanisches Restaurant. Essen war lecker, aber die Soße sollte beim Gericht separat serviert werden, da der darunter liegende Ingera sonst schnell matschig wird. Gerichte wurden schnell gebracht und der Service war freundlich. Preis schon Recht teuer. Wir kommen aber gerne wieder. EC-Karten werden angenommen, diese Information hatte uns gefehlt.

Ich war schon zweimal im Safari essen und kann es nur empfehlen. Das Essen schmeckt hervorragend und es ist für jeden was dabei, auch vegetarisch und vegan. Die Portionen sind groß, hier wird auf jeden Fall jeder satt. Der Service ist hilfsbereit, vor allem wenn man noch nie afrikanisch gegessen hat und etwas Hilfe benötigt, und sehr freundlich. Das Bier wird in ausgehöhlten Kürbissen serviert, was mir gut gefallen hat. Auch das Ambiente verdient 5 Sterne. Ich komme gerne wieder.

Der Service war super. Alle Fragen wurde zum Menü geduldig und freundlich erklärt. Das Menü bietet sehr viel Auswahl, scharf, mild, vegan, vegetarisch und viele Fleischoptionen. Es ist für jeden was dabei. Das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis ist gut. Das Essen selbst war sehr lecker und die Portionen waren sehr gross. Ich kann das Restaurant sehr empfehlen, wir kommen gerne wieder.

It was my wife and I’s first experience with this cuisine. We weren’t sure what to order so we asked the waiter for his recommendation and it did not disappoint! Gored Gored and Couscous were delicious!

The staff is very helpful in explaining menu items and the food is always great. Try any of the appetizers for an excellent food experience. We eat here ever other Fri or Sat! As good as always!

Sehr leckeres, außergewöhnliches Essen, guter Service, schönes Restaurant. Alles wunderbar und definitiv ein Erlebnis wert. Kartenzahlung ist (auch mit Kreditkarte) möglich, Preise sind absolut fair (6 Getränke, 3 Vorspeisen, eine Platte für drei Personen rund 90€).

Wirklich sehr nettes und lustiges Personal, dass alles erklärt hat. Das Essen ist sehr lecker und mal was anderes. Besonderheit hier ist, dass man eigentlich mit den Fingern isst. Also hier komme ich auf jeden Fall mal wieder her. Man sollte einen Platz reservieren, denn hier ist es meist voll.

Wir waren zu viert und haben eine Safari-Platte gegessen, die ausgezeichnet war. Das Fleisch war zart und es war reichlich. Der Service war sehr freundlich und aufmerksam. Wir werden sicher erneut kommen.

Un gran sitio con comida típica de Etiopía y Eritrea lo cual resulta muy interesante, en la carta explican algunas cosas de la comida Etíope, los platos son de gran calidad y están muy buenos. Se come sin cubierto y se utiliza el pan injera elaborado con un cereal fermentado y no contiene gluten. Los platos son deliciosos, bastante picantes y muy sabrosos. Hay bastante variedad de platos, con carne o veganos; además los platos de carne vienen acompañados de una ración de verduras. El café y el té tradicionales son increíbles y los recomiendo encarecidamente puesto que sus sabores son únicos y no te arrepentirás, también recomiendo las cervezas de sabores. El ambiente y el servicio inmejorables, realmente ir es una gran experiencia cultural y gastronómica.

The fact that it seems to be difficult to book an appointment OR that NOBODY answers the phone may lead you to believers that they are so good. THEY THINK TOO HIGHLY OF THEMSELVES and miss to offer quality service and quality dining experience. However, I believe that there is something good in everything. The food tasted good. That’s about it. Servers were visibly not happy to be there. Customer service was ZERO. No music. Cannot find your reservation. “Oh, it’s your birthday?” WHO CARES??? SMALL, very small portions. Phone ringing completely ignored. All in all, a very disappointing experience. There are SO MANY great restaurants out there. Take your money where you are appreciated. Picture of 2 MAIN DISHES!!
