Sadhu in Flensburg

Vi er en familie der søger en frokost og kommer forbi Sadhu hvor der dufter dejligt af krydret indisk mad, restauranten ser egentlig lidt kedelig ud og trænger til lige at blive shinet lidt op med maling og hist og pist. Men vi går derind og bliver taget imod af en smilende og venlig tjener (måske ejeren) Vi bestiller lidt mad og drikkevarer. Sammen med drikkevarerne for vi en lille snack på huset papadams med 3 forskellige dips til som alle smager dejligt og gør at vi ikke tænker over ventetiden på maden da vi bare sidder og hygger med snacks. Da maden bliver serveret er det i små autentiske gryder hvor det ser super indbydende ud og da vi smager maden smiler vi alle fordi at det smager så dejligt. Vores datter på 6år siger at det er noget af det bedste indiske mad hun har smagt. Tusinde tak for god mad.

Delivered after 85 minutes instead of 40. I wouldn't recommend!

Have only been there once so cautious 4 stars. Upside potential - may be updated. EDIT: So, the fifth star has arrived. Consistently good food and a head waiter with an almost uncanny memory, friendly, professional, obliging: that's what makes the difference.

Sadhu is our favorite Indian restaurant in Flensburg. The dishes are freshly prepared and taste excellent. Two pepper breads and 3 sauces are served free of charge before the ordered dish. This shortens the waiting time and gets you in the mood for the culinary feast that follows. From Monday to Friday there is a varied and inexpensive lunch menu. You never leave the restaurant hungry. The staff is friendly and will advise you if you have any questions about the Indian dishes.

After visiting all Indian restaurants Sadhu in my opinion is the best one! Best service and food quality 🔥

I recently dined at sadhu Indian restaurant that exceeded all my expectations. The flavors were absolutely authentic, with each dish bursting with rich, aromatic spices that truly transported me to India. The service was equally impressive—staff were attentive, friendly, and made sure every detail was perfect. From the moment I walked in, I felt warmly welcomed. The combination of exceptional taste and outstanding service made this a memorable dining experience. Highly recommended for anyone craving a genuine taste of India!

I had been there so many times and I never got dissatisfied by the quality of food. The atmosphere is so nice and the best is the behaviour of the staff they are so nice and welcoming. I always love to visit and enjoy eating food there.

It used to be authentic and really good. NOT ANYMORE. We have been eating at Sadhu's for two years in a row until we have recently discovered that they have operated a big shift in the quality and quantity of the food they serve. My favourite dish, "palak paneer" (spinage + lovely and sophisticated Indian spices + rather small pieces of home made Indian cheese) has morphed into an utterly deceiving "paneer palak" made of gross chunks of home made Indian cheese sprinkled with a boaringly tasting spinage paste made most likely in a haste and heated in the micro waves for a quick serve. My husband's "chicken Masala" was composed of a few little pieces of chicken covered in a ton of cheap red gravy mixed with canned mushrooms. Sadhu, are you serious?

My favorite Indian restaurant in all of Flensburg. I've tried the chicken mango at many others, but no one has it as tasty as this! The same applies to naan bread. Friendly and quick service. Only finding a parking space is a bit stupid.

Rating: Butter Chicken The butter chicken completely convinced me. The tomato cream sauce was extremely tasty with a pleasant buttery note. The portion size was just right and the spiciness was light but not at all intense. The chicken was delicious, juicy and soft. Particularly noteworthy is the very tasty naan bread, which went perfectly with the dish. Overall, a very successful meal that I can warmly recommend.

Simply like that is delicious and nice place. We were there for lunch with 3 adults and 3 children aged 3 and 4. And the service was simply that good! The food was incredibly delicious. Both for the boxes and the little ones. And so we paid no more than DKK 700 and were all full (2 men)! Can only be highly recommended.

If you are looking for a well cooked good Indian meal this is the place! Cozy place with the right atmosphere and service-oriented staff, great!

The Lassi for a whopping €5.50 was actually more of an Ayran and not an original Lassi. A butter Nan bread for €3.90 is very overpriced.

The food is really very good, as is the ambience. However, we had to wait a long time for the food and that was on a Monday evening. Otherwise really recommended.

The food was very tasty, also served very tastefully. The staff are very accommodating and friendly. The portions are large, but you can have the rest packed away.

Very busy and super hot restaurant. Unfortunately, a place where you choose to cheat with the dishes, which I can understand, so sauce is made separately and cooked meat is added later. If you are used to "Indian" food where the whole dish has been bubbling for hours, you will be a little disappointed. Very short waiting time for both drinks and food despite being very busy.

Maybe 4,5* instead of 5 🤔🤷‍♂️? I'm Tamil. My parents are from Sri Lanka. We really liked the food 😀 The reason I'm not giving 5* completely is because I think there was a small challenge communicating in English with the guy who took our order. The (mens?) toilets could maybe have been more nice-looking "design/style wise". When we ordered a mango shake there was a slice of a melon (I think I maybe wondered why there was a slice of a melon and not a mango) on the cup we got it served in.

Excellent Indian food, everything is richly spiced and very tasteful. We recommend the Thalis, which offer a great variety. The samosas and the mango lassi were also great. The service is very friendly and attentive, and a great ambience rounds off the great visit.

Wir wählten die Gerichte, die mit mehreren Personen geteilt werden. Sehr vielfältige Speisen, sehr hübsch angerichtet. Geschmacklich fand ich es ganz lecker, manchmal für indische Küche ein wenig schwach gewürzt. Der Service war freundlich und aufmerksam. Alles in allem ein schöner Abend aber nichts besonderes.

The staff provided exellent service and the owner of the restaurant was brilliant, kind and great customer service🙏🏾 Even if we did not understand the menu because it was written in German, the staff recommended very delicious different dishes so we could try a little bit of everything 👌🏾 We highly recommend Sadhu restaurant and appreciate your services🙏🏾 We shall be back 👍🏾🇩🇰

Incredibly good food, the curries are particularly tasty, very well seasoned and really authentic! The service is extremely friendly and attentive! We can highly recommend it! It's a shame we don't live in Flensburg, it would immediately become a favorite restaurant. 😉

I have very rarely had such good food delivered. We had butter chicken, tandoori chicken, cauliflower pakoras and extra namaste naan. Everything was super tasty and the level of spiciness was well suited to the European palate :) Thank you!

Super tasty Indian food including a small starter (on the house). Good quantities at a fair price. You can always find space here (it goes way to the back). We would like to come again!

Very friendly staff and great service. We ordered mango chicken and chicken tikka masala and it was delicious. We also really enjoyed the naan bread and the starters that were served with it. We also particularly liked the atmosphere - the ambience was very cozy. The restaurant is located directly on the promenade in the old town and is easily accessible.

Came without a table reservation on a Saturday evening, but still no problem. Service very friendly and attentive. We sat right at the front of the door, well there was a lot to look at but also people constantly walking past. It was a bit uneasy but we could have made a reservation. Otherwise everything was great, the food was great and plentiful. The staff was very nice and the price was also totally okay. We would like to come again.

I had the food delivered. I was very amazed at how easy it was. Delivered absolutely on time and a very nice delivery man. The food was still hot and delicious. I know all the Indian restaurants in Flensburg, but the Sadhu from the Flensburg "Kiez" stands out. 100% recommendation and it definitely won't be the last time.

Awesome authentic delicious Indian food , coming from and Indian.

The service is really very hospitable and attentive, we felt comfortable. The food was very tasty and authentic... all the ingredients tasted fresh and the menu was very well balanced with the spices. Where you would have to invest a little love is, for example, in the menu card, which unfortunately no longer looked good and one or two chairs that have seen better days... so a few little things. The restaurant is definitely worth a visit... or more often 😉

Hier verbirgt sich ein gutes indisches Restaurant. Von außen hätte ich auf ein kleines Restaurant eher im Imbiss-Stil getippt. Das Restaurant ist aber schlauchartig ausgerichtet und ist größer als erwartet. Wir wurden früh dran und wurden schnell mit leckerem Mango Lassi und tollem Essen verwöhnt. Komme gerne wieder

A Disappointing Experience at Sedu My brother and I dined at Sedu, an Indian restaurant in Flensburg, yesterday, and were left underwhelmed by the experience. Notably, the food lacked the spice level typically associated with authentic Indian cuisine. Having traveled to India and indulged in its rich culinary heritage, I was expecting a semblance of that authentic spiciness, which was unfortunately missing. It’s common in Indian restaurants outside India, especially in Europe, to inquire whether patrons prefer their dishes spicy or mild, a courtesy we were not extended, leading us to anticipate a more authentic experience in line with the glowing reviews on their website. Additionally, one of the beers we were served was off. When we raised this concern, the response was defensive, with the staff insisting that such an issue was impossible since they clean their lines weekly. There was no acknowledgment of our dissatisfaction, nor an apology, which would have been the appropriate and customer-friendly response. Instead, my brother’s subsequent review addressing these issues was met with public rebuttal, sticking to the same rhetoric about their cleaning practices and dismissing our experience. It’s worth mentioning that even with diligent cleaning, beers can still turn bad due to various factors such as contamination, oxidation, or issues with the beer batch itself. A simple acknowledgment of our experience and an apology could have sufficed, rather than an insistence on the impossibility of our claim. While I hadn’t initially planned to write a review, given my brother had already expressed our concerns, the restaurant’s choice to publicly discredit our experience compels me to share our side. It’s unfortunate when a dining experience is marred not just by the food and drink, but more so by the lack of empathy and customer service.

Maybe we were a bit unlucky, but our three dishes were ok. They were a bit too similar as this was a composed combination platter. They weren't especially hot, and we weren't asked on beforehand if we wanted it spicy. The dishes weren't spicy at all. Naan and rice was ok. The worst part was when we wanted just a normal beer at the end (they had Carlsberg pilsner on tap). And it tasted off. It tasted weird. Like bitter walnuts or something. When I pointed it out to the waiters they then explained that it couldn't be any wrong with it. They never accepted it was off. Although we didn't pay for the beers, I didn't have a particularly good time. 2-3 Stars.

We have eaten at Sadhu several times now, we always enjoy it, the service is friendly and accommodating, there is absolutely nothing to complain about. However, when we ate there yesterday, I wanted to leave again (not because of the food, it was great as always!): We sat at a table for two in the back of the restaurant (on the heating side just before the toilets) and it was Unfortunately it was very unclean, there were cobwebs everywhere on the walls and the bar directly in our field of vision was unfortunately covered in dust. We didn't like that at all and unfortunately it puts us off visiting again. Despite the really excellent food, we've noticed this several times and it's slowly making us smile.

Just brilliant. We have been here three times during stay overs in Flensburg and we will come back because the food is just so great. We have enjoyed the Namaste Naan and the Keema Naan - can recommend. And basically all the tandoori dishes are also good. Wife had the chilli chicken this time and she loved it. Remember to finish with a Chai - your stomach will thank you. :)

This visit was a disaster. They were too busy, too many people in too small a place. We waited 45 minutes for drinks and 1 hour and 30 minutes for the food, which was ok but seemed like they were too busy..

We waited about 20 minutes to order food and then about 20 minutes for our drinks. After another 10-15 min our food arrived and wait how was it worth the wait! We got Chicken Mango, Butter Chicken and Chicken Tikka Masala and it tasted amazing! Will definitely visit again! We got away with just under €20 per person. Incl. beverages.

The food is great, I can only recommend it. Many vegetarian and vegan dishes are available to choose from.

We have had food delivered several times. Delivery was always quick, hot and tasty. Now we also ate in the restaurant. Again very tasty. The atmosphere is cozy and harmonious. Gladly again!

I've gone here several times. Yesterday it wasn't just my veggie dish (26) that tasted very well seasoned and delicious. My friend had pickled shrimps in a curry yogurt sauce or something... it was the tastiest sauce I've tasted in my life. It's a shame I only discovered it now 😅
