Ajay Indian cuisine in Flensburg

I ordered channa Aloo Masala with bhatura as a Hauptspieße, Matured taste and they made for me special indian spicy as requested. For Nachspeise I took Gulab jamun it was real tasty with some sugar water and mixer of coconut. Best part is Home made lemonade for Drinks. Thanks for friendly and kind service.

We were in the mood for some really good Indian food. Unfortunately, it was a disappointment. After waiting ages for service (the restaurant was less than half full), the mango lassi we ordered arrived, which was good and tasty. The starters were poorly presented and rather mediocre in taste. The main courses were neither satisfying in taste nor in texture. Some of the meat was gristly and very fatty. Overall, a bitter disappointment. None of us five ate our food.

Wow! What an experience! We were there late in the afternoon while passing through and were lucky to snag a table for two and a half people. We haven't had such delicious food in a long time. Highly recommended. Our one-year-old daughter also tried EVERYTHING and loved it just as much as we did. A little tip regarding the spice levels: Mild is actually super mild, so next time we'll definitely try the spicy one. We paid €60 for three starters, a chai latte, water, and two main courses. The value for money is 100% right here.

Very tasty food and super friendly staff

Today was my first time eating there, and it was incredibly delicious. If you want delicious, fresh Indian food, you should definitely eat here. Even those who haven't eaten Indian food before can enjoy it, as the spiciness can be adjusted to suit the dish.

We took a night break in Flensburg on our way through. As we strolled through the pedestrian zone we noticed Ajay. It was clear that we wanted dinner. That was simply the best decision. Our food was simply delicious. A really great end to the day. Food top, service top an evening you like to have.

We were warmly welcomed without a reservation. The waitresses are very attentive and the food tastes great. You can choose between 3 levels of spiciness and the food is brought to the table still sizzling. Great Indian ambience.

Years ago we “just happened to” stop by Ajay’s for dinner, and we’ve been there regularly ever since, cozy atmosphere, friendly staff and always great food!

Super delicious food, and a delicious lassi. I asked for mild flavor and my husband got spicy, absolutely perfect. Nice atmosphere with "fire in the fireplace" and muted jazz in the loudspeaker.

Ordered via Lieferando, food was delicious, but unfortunately half of it was missing. Unfortunately, solving the problem by telephone was not possible due to extensive language barriers.

Although random Indian Restaurants in small German cities are often not of high quality, this one is REALLY good. Nice food, nice interior design, Indian chef, good service. The music is a bit loud for our taste but otherwise this is a super nice place.

The staff only speaks English and expects the same from their guests. No attempt is even made to speak to the guest in German. I didn't like that. In another context, I have no problem being spoken to in English, but as a customer or guest in a restaurant I find it inappropriate. The food was ok, but nothing more. The ambience was tasteful.

We were there for lunch and it was simply wonderful! Delicious food, great and attentive service and the atmosphere is modern but cozy. We had Butter Chicken and Mango Curry with Garlic Naan. All requests for spiciness and without coriander were taken into account, portions were perfect for us. Top value for money!

The service was top notch! The food (korma) was mild as I was told the strength was "Indian spicy" but our friendly waitress brought some chillies to add to the food. After this, the force came forward.

We spontaneously ate at Ajay today and it was really great! The service staff was very warm and attentive. The food smelled wonderful and was extremely tasty. It was also great that we were asked whether it should be spicy or mildly seasoned. And we also received a food recommendation for our next visit, which we definitely want to try soon!

We went there with a spontaneous reservation for 2 people. The waitresses were very friendly. The food was well prepared and tasted very good. There was the option of choosing between mild-spicy-spicy dishes for all dishes, which we really liked. The waiting time was okay as it was very busy. In the meantime it was relatively loud, but bearable.

The store itself looks quite chic and modern from the inside. The toilets are really run down again. The noise level in the restaurant was actually quite high and somewhat annoying for the small space. The service was okay, although everyone spoke to you in English. Unfortunately, this led to small discrepancies with the order. The food itself was okay, but I think the price-performance ratio at other restaurants is much better. I had chili chicken and was a little disappointed when breaded chicken was served in a sweet-sour-spicy sauce, as I was expecting something completely different.

We spent a very tasty evening there. Good starters, super tasty main course. The dessert (pudding Indian style) is recommended! Nice cozy space and good service.

To say one thing up front, we didn't eat in the restaurant, so no rating for the ambience, but we had it delivered... and not for the first time. But this time things really went completely wrong. When we called the restaurant after 3 hours of waiting, even the boss didn't know where his driver was and was therefore pretty confused. When the driver finally came about half an hour later, there was no longer any question of warm food. Unfortunately, a complaint via Lieferando was not possible because the driver reported the food as delivered long before the delivery time. For the 2nd time. The boss definitely doesn't have his employees under control.... Unfortunately, it's the customers who suffer. It's a shame about the delicious food.

Ajay is a pretty decent Indian restaurant. Seems to be North Indian but we enjoyed it and tasted similarities to the south Indian taste - the curry i ordered, which was a (spicy) Chana Masala, kind of had a taste hint mix of both North- and south Indian taste 😀 Waiter seemed a bit too much in a rush and didn't seem much patient - when considering it's a restaurant. Rice could have maybe been cooked for a few more minutes. Just a small amount of too much chew in it. Mango Lassi could have been more cold, and i liked that it wasn't too sweet.

After visiting the Christmas market, we spontaneously decided to try out Ajay. And, to say it straight away, it was worth it. Unfortunately the route from Hamburg to Flensburg is a bit too far. An unusually modern atmosphere for an Indian restaurant, which we found very appealing, paired with authentic cuisine and very attentive service. The waitress was just sweet! The chicken meal tasted excellent. With tomato curry and mango curry sauce.

There were four of us. The staff were all really friendly and unobtrusively courteous and Indian, as you would expect from Indians, they gave explanations about the Indian food and took requests into account. The food came at the same time, all dishes were delicious. The prices are good and justified. The furnishings are pleasantly simple and very clean. Enrichment for Flensburg's city center!

We came in without a reservation and despite being busy we got a table after a few minutes. Very warm welcome and feel-good atmosphere. Food top. Authentic Indian cuisine. Can only be warmly recommended.

Everything fits here. Super friendly and the food is very tasty. Good portions at very fair prices. We had ordered starter in advance, very generous but incredibly tasty and a good mix of everything - after that we were actually already full. But when it tastes so good, you'll still eat it all. You have time and it's easy to last longer here. Perfectly timed, people ask again and again whether everything is OK and whether there is anything else that can be done. The food was really delicious and reasonably priced for large portions. The manager and the waitress were very friendly and an extra portion of rice was even served and customer requests were taken into account. The restaurant is quite smart, with nice new tables and chairs.

We had a hotel stay in Flensburg and our hotel was an absolute mess. We then strolled through the city and came across this great restaurant. We were welcomed with live music. The Indian live music was an absolute highlight and mood lifter. The food was absolutely delicious. Truly extraordinary. The service was wonderful, exceptionally friendly and attentive. The Indian restaurant was fantastic! My chicken tikka masala was perfectly seasoned, creamy and incredibly delicious. The Butter Garlic Naan was soft, buttery and had just the right amount of garlic. The chicken lollipops were particularly great – crispy and full of flavor. Friendly service and authentic food that I can absolutely recommend!

Be careful when ordering for delivery! Update: Our last order made us reconsider our review. One dish was delivered correctly, the other was missing 2 components that were ordered (see original review below). So we got 1/2 naan with paneer cheese and some vegetables?! What kind of dish is this supposed to be? You basically “have to” choose the “Masala it up” option. Mistakes like this would happen less if it was just a complete dish. By the way, the cheese and vegetables were inedible because they were prepared in a marinade that was strangely bitter this time. We tried eating it with rice and sauce from the other dish, but even that couldn't drown out the bitter taste. Unfortunately, money for the barrel. Nothing could be delivered because the store doesn't have its own drivers (order via eats). We were assured on the phone that something would be refunded for the next order. The only other option: reimbursement via uber eats (the €2 for “Masala it up”). The Garlic Naan we also ordered wasn't delivered, but we only noticed this after it was reported in the app, so we couldn't report it anymore (the app doesn't allow it - you have to complain about everything straight away). Logically, without our own driver we cannot deliver and the error was admitted on the phone and the solution mentioned above was offered - but first there was a note that rice and sauce had to be ordered separately and only then was our order looked at. From the sound of it, the problem seemed to occur quite often. Then maybe you should think about why you are still offering this dish as is instead of making it complete for €2 more. As if anyone orders it without the "upgrade"? Original review: We have eaten here several times, the food is delicious. We particularly welcome the selection of vegetarian and vegan options. In our case, spicy was really spicy. The homemade paneer from the tandoori oven is particularly recommended! One complaint about the dishes would probably be that they don't really make any sense without "Masala it up" for an extra 2 euros. Just grilled cheese with some vegetables and some bread? Pretty much everyone will probably order sauce and rice with it. The service left something to be desired. Unfortunately, we always had to wait quite a long time until our order was taken, but then the food was always on the table pretty quickly. We just weren't so keen on the fact that there was an endless back and forth with a guest who really wanted a certain wine by the bottle, then it should only be available by the glass, etc. They could have easily taken our order in between so that it ends up in the kitchen. Or the manager could have clarified it with the guest himself instead of sending the waitress back and forth as a messenger. We understood because it was a new restaurant where not all of the procedures had been implemented yet and the two waitresses seemed inexperienced and overwhelmed. But we'd love to come back :)

We have been here several times, and must admit that the quality of the food is abysmal. We also had to leave the restaurant on one of our visits as you couldn't breathe inside, everyone was sitting in the restaurant coughing.

We regularly visit Gill at Ajay with a changing line-up. We have never been even remotely disappointed. The food always tastes world-class, the service is always friendly and attentive and the ambience is simply pleasant and stylish. For us, it is definitely the best restaurant with Indian cuisine, and not just in the Flensburg area. We are treated courteously every time, every effort is made to respond to individual wishes and they are implemented with love. For us it's just like visiting friends. Best regards Vanya and Filip

We were guests in Flensburg and were looking for a delicious restaurant and came across this Indian restaurant. The welcome from the owner was very warm and friendly. The service he provided was super nice and immediately created a family-relaxed atmosphere. The food is super tasty, fresh and well seasoned. Spicy is just the right level of spiciness. If we are in Flensburg again, we will definitely come back.

For me the best restaurant in Flensburg! There are vegan and gluten-free options. Anyone suffering from celiac disease is in good hands here!

As a vegetarian, coming across chicken in your Paneer Massala is something I would classify as “it can happen to anyone”. However, if the other person is almost finished when my “purely” vegetarian version finally arrives, I can apologize for that too. Although I only had half of the rice left after I let my plate go back, it wasn't refilled. The service was very nice and attentive. The food was tasty, although moderately spicy instead of mild.

We were there for lunch at 2:30 p.m. The service was very attentive and friendly. The food was served very quickly and was extremely tasty. When we asked, we were given a little more rice free of charge. The location in the pedestrian zone ensures pleasant background music from street musicians on the terrace. Highly recommended.
