Update August 2025: Even after two years, the quality and service are very good. A cozy courtyard has been added, providing a pleasant contrast to the lively Große Straße. Excellent Indian cuisine in a modern, tasteful ambiance. All spices are blended and ground in-house. These aren't powdered ready-made mixes where the essential flavors have already evaporated—and you can tell. The spice notes can be tasted almost individually and one after the other. The quality and freshness of the products used are also spot on. The two Indian chefs are really good! You can choose between three different spice levels, so there's something for every taste. The friendly service complements this perfectly. An absolute recommendation in Flensburg.

A pleasant surprise! We were the only guests at prime time on our first visit and feared the worst. The service was super friendly. The food took a while to prepare, but it wasn't a problem at all, as everything arrived fresh and delicious. This definitely won't be our last visit.

Indian dining experience with great ambience inside and out. The Garlic Naan, Malai Kofta, and Mango Lassi are must-tries, and the staff are very friendly and welcoming.

Really great experience at Ajay Indian Restaurant! The chicken tikka and malai kofta were full of flavor, the garlic naan was perfect, and the mango lassi super refreshing. The staff were so friendly and welcoming – made us feel right at home. Definitely coming back! 🌟

It appears classy and chic, but there's still a lot of work to be done. Service is friendly but untrained. Clearing the table/requesting guests to cooperate/lack of timing/not listening properly to requests. Food is okay - could be more refined at the higher prices. Dal soup is watery and poorly seasoned.

Food was awesome no doubt,we enjoyed really. But it's not baby friendly,baby Stuhl was not available also diapper changing facilities not available.

A fantastic restaurant, friendly service, and a wide selection for all tastes. Vegetarians and vegans are certainly not left out. The value for money is top-notch, and at the end, you'll usually even get a small gift, like an ice cream or a lassi.

We ordered a vegan thali, but got a vegetarian thali that was too salty and lacked Indian spices. We ordered a salad as a side dish, but got it as a starter. We ordered a fish curry but got a salty curry with some large chunks of cheap white fish. Sadly enough none of the food had something to do with "Indian Cuisine". So if you see this restaurant, save yourself from disappointment. There is another Indian restaurant in Flensburg on walking distance.

A little Indian gem that is definitely worth a visit polite waiter. We took the weekly menu the only downside is that there is no lunch menu so we got huge portions And to all those who have complained about the waiting time try to think about the fact that freshly cooked food takes time to make! And that there is no beeping sound from a microwave

We've rarely experienced such good Indian cuisine with such friendly, genuinely attentive service. All the thalis were varied and perfectly cooked, and the butter naan and chicken appetizer were delicious. All the portions were large enough to fill us up. The spiciness was adjusted to our preferences and perfectly matched, fantastic! Thank you for your child-friendly approach. A definite recommendation!

Terrible. We were charged for food we didn't order. The police had to be called to clarify the situation. Conclusion: The food was very good. The bill and the owner's behavior were beyond unsatisfactory. A shame.

Food was delicious, service from the girls was nothing too TOP BUT if the boss is trying to rip us off then that's not okay. He's welcome to explain his point of view. From me it's the following... There were three of us there. We had 2x Chicken Tikika Masala for 18.50€ each and 1x Veggie for around 23€. We ate. In addition, 3 times the wrong thing was charged. My friend was still hungry and ate 1x the wrong meal which he didn't order and will take responsibility for this... BUT the boss thought we had each ordered food for 30€. He called the police and wanted to extort the price. Of course we didn't respond. The police came, we explained our point of view and in the end we paid for what we ate. The owner doesn't want to serve us again for the life of him... no problem, we'll never eat at such a rip-off place again anyway. Thanks anyway to the nice girls who served us.

We chose the place because my boyfriend had eaten at this restaurant a few years ago and recommended them. However, I have to add a review to the place because the positive expectations were not met. We waited 15 minutes to get a menu and then 10 minutes to get drinks and an hour later the food finally came, however we had run out of drinks and had to order more drinks. I acknowledge that it was busy, but waiting over an hour for food is not okay. Chicken tandoori was not very exciting and the salad that came with it was not either. Curry dish with lamb was ok, but not the level I expect from an authentic Indian restaurant. The service is smiling and friendly but I am generally disappointed with the experience with this place and therefore cannot recommend them.

Friendly service, but the food was extremely disappointing. The Tikka Masala tasted particularly semi-finished, the Rogan Josh was a bit better. This was disappointing considering the good reviews here. The food lacked the good and round taste you expect from an Indian restaurant, this tasted semi-finished. The Naan bread was good.

I ordered channa Aloo Masala with bhatura as a Hauptspieße, Matured taste and they made for me special indian spicy as requested. For Nachspeise I took Gulab jamun it was real tasty with some sugar water and mixer of coconut. Best part is Home made lemonade for Drinks. Thanks for friendly and kind service.

We were in the mood for some really good Indian food. Unfortunately, it was a disappointment. After waiting ages for service (the restaurant was less than half full), the mango lassi we ordered arrived, which was good and tasty. The starters were poorly presented and rather mediocre in taste. The main courses were neither satisfying in taste nor in texture. Some of the meat was gristly and very fatty. Overall, a bitter disappointment. None of us five ate our food.

Wow! What an experience! We were there late in the afternoon while passing through and were lucky to snag a table for two and a half people. We haven't had such delicious food in a long time. Highly recommended. Our one-year-old daughter also tried EVERYTHING and loved it just as much as we did. A little tip regarding the spice levels: Mild is actually super mild, so next time we'll definitely try the spicy one. We paid €60 for three starters, a chai latte, water, and two main courses. The value for money is 100% right here.

Today was my first time eating there, and it was incredibly delicious. If you want delicious, fresh Indian food, you should definitely eat here. Even those who haven't eaten Indian food before can enjoy it, as the spiciness can be adjusted to suit the dish.

We took a night break in Flensburg on our way through. As we strolled through the pedestrian zone we noticed Ajay. It was clear that we wanted dinner. That was simply the best decision. Our food was simply delicious. A really great end to the day. Food top, service top an evening you like to have.

We were warmly welcomed without a reservation. The waitresses are very attentive and the food tastes great. You can choose between 3 levels of spiciness and the food is brought to the table still sizzling. Great Indian ambience.

Years ago we “just happened to” stop by Ajay’s for dinner, and we’ve been there regularly ever since, cozy atmosphere, friendly staff and always great food!

Super delicious food, and a delicious lassi. I asked for mild flavor and my husband got spicy, absolutely perfect. Nice atmosphere with "fire in the fireplace" and muted jazz in the loudspeaker.

Ordered via Lieferando, food was delicious, but unfortunately half of it was missing. Unfortunately, solving the problem by telephone was not possible due to extensive language barriers.

Although random Indian Restaurants in small German cities are often not of high quality, this one is REALLY good. Nice food, nice interior design, Indian chef, good service. The music is a bit loud for our taste but otherwise this is a super nice place.

The staff only speaks English and expects the same from their guests. No attempt is even made to speak to the guest in German. I didn't like that. In another context, I have no problem being spoken to in English, but as a customer or guest in a restaurant I find it inappropriate. The food was ok, but nothing more. The ambience was tasteful.

We were there for lunch and it was simply wonderful! Delicious food, great and attentive service and the atmosphere is modern but cozy. We had Butter Chicken and Mango Curry with Garlic Naan. All requests for spiciness and without coriander were taken into account, portions were perfect for us. Top value for money!

The service was top notch! The food (korma) was mild as I was told the strength was "Indian spicy" but our friendly waitress brought some chillies to add to the food. After this, the force came forward.

We spontaneously ate at Ajay today and it was really great! The service staff was very warm and attentive. The food smelled wonderful and was extremely tasty. It was also great that we were asked whether it should be spicy or mildly seasoned. And we also received a food recommendation for our next visit, which we definitely want to try soon!

We went there with a spontaneous reservation for 2 people. The waitresses were very friendly. The food was well prepared and tasted very good. There was the option of choosing between mild-spicy-spicy dishes for all dishes, which we really liked. The waiting time was okay as it was very busy. In the meantime it was relatively loud, but bearable.

The store itself looks quite chic and modern from the inside. The toilets are really run down again. The noise level in the restaurant was actually quite high and somewhat annoying for the small space. The service was okay, although everyone spoke to you in English. Unfortunately, this led to small discrepancies with the order. The food itself was okay, but I think the price-performance ratio at other restaurants is much better. I had chili chicken and was a little disappointed when breaded chicken was served in a sweet-sour-spicy sauce, as I was expecting something completely different.

We spent a very tasty evening there. Good starters, super tasty main course. The dessert (pudding Indian style) is recommended! Nice cozy space and good service.

To say one thing up front, we didn't eat in the restaurant, so no rating for the ambience, but we had it delivered... and not for the first time. But this time things really went completely wrong. When we called the restaurant after 3 hours of waiting, even the boss didn't know where his driver was and was therefore pretty confused. When the driver finally came about half an hour later, there was no longer any question of warm food. Unfortunately, a complaint via Lieferando was not possible because the driver reported the food as delivered long before the delivery time. For the 2nd time. The boss definitely doesn't have his employees under control.... Unfortunately, it's the customers who suffer. It's a shame about the delicious food.

Ajay is a pretty decent Indian restaurant. Seems to be North Indian but we enjoyed it and tasted similarities to the south Indian taste - the curry i ordered, which was a (spicy) Chana Masala, kind of had a taste hint mix of both North- and south Indian taste 😀 Waiter seemed a bit too much in a rush and didn't seem much patient - when considering it's a restaurant. Rice could have maybe been cooked for a few more minutes. Just a small amount of too much chew in it. Mango Lassi could have been more cold, and i liked that it wasn't too sweet.

After visiting the Christmas market, we spontaneously decided to try out Ajay. And, to say it straight away, it was worth it. Unfortunately the route from Hamburg to Flensburg is a bit too far. An unusually modern atmosphere for an Indian restaurant, which we found very appealing, paired with authentic cuisine and very attentive service. The waitress was just sweet! The chicken meal tasted excellent. With tomato curry and mango curry sauce.

There were four of us. The staff were all really friendly and unobtrusively courteous and Indian, as you would expect from Indians, they gave explanations about the Indian food and took requests into account. The food came at the same time, all dishes were delicious. The prices are good and justified. The furnishings are pleasantly simple and very clean. Enrichment for Flensburg's city center!
