First time I wanted to visit this restaurant during my last trip to Cologne in 2019 but it was closed for renovation. This time I tried again and was lucky to get easily free table for lunch. Decor of restaurant is beautiful. Very kind lady who serve you. But something was wrong... I can't say that the food was bad or it was not delicious but could be much more better for sure. For sure you need to have your own experience. Will I come back again here, probably no....

Anyone who goes to this restaurant will regret it, it's a pity for the name of Iranian food

The food is fresh, the yogurt is good, and the meal is decent overall, but nothing exceptional. It is indeed difficult to find the authentic taste of Iranian kebabs abroad. The value for money is not very convincing, but the restaurant must have its regulars custmers... A big disappointment during payment: they don't accept credit cards!???!!

The food is very tasty and the staff are extremely friendly. Even though we didn't reserve a table, we were still warmly welcomed.

We (2 people & baby) were at Sadaf for the first time today and as food lovers we are absolutely thrilled with Persian cuisine. We received a warm welcome from the family-run restaurant. The starters & olives were very delicate. The lady of the house, like everyone else, tried very hard to look after my baby and so we were able to enjoy our evening meal together, because even when the little one (9 months) was whiny for a moment, we were asked to run around with her. The main courses, especially the lamb in every form, were tender and delicious The best, however, was the saffron rice with orange peel, pistachios and beberries. We had ordered a table online. The restaurant is stylishly furnished and was pleasantly air-conditioned. The chairs and benches were extremely comfortable and there is also a high chair. We'd love to come back soon. 1000 thanks!

It was simply incredibly tasty, the best ingredients were processed so deliciously. I'm not exaggerating when I say that this was the juiciest grill I've eaten. Service was also super friendly. Iran vibes guaranteed.

The Karafs was so tasty, however koobide was maybe only acceptable. Service was good, decoration was also nice and pleasant. Prices were quite higher than other restaurants, with equal or lower meal quality. Also they dont accept EC, but they calculate VAT!

Owner and waiter super friendly and helpful. The food was consistently delicious, the meat was tender and juicy. There were 6 of us and everyone was more than satisfied. It was our first time eating Persian but definitely not the last!

The staff is unprofessional and it was a poor restaurant. We went to this restaurant by searching on Google and reading the comments. We ordered five food samples, one by one worse and poorer quality. Please, before wasting your money and time, ask those who have eaten in this restaurant and know them, and don't be fooled by the comments of their friends and acquaintances.

Food overpriced and the meat doesn't taste good. Get old meat and dry meat. The cellars walk around in shorts. Sorry, a no go for a restaurant. I can't recommend the store.

Food was ok, it was something different. But I wouldn't always go out for a Persian meal - it wasn't really my thing. The portions were way too big and overpriced. The only really tasty things were the bread and the homemade spicy dip.

I recently visited Sadaf Restaurant in Cologne with my friends and unfortunately, my experience was quite disappointing. The service was unfriendly, with the staff displaying rude behavior which made the dining experience uncomfortable. Additionally, the food did not meet expectations, lacking flavor. To add to the inconvenience, the restaurant only accepted cash payments. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this restaurant based on my visit.

Delicious food, relaxing atmosphere and very friendly staff! Simply amazing! We had "Baghali-polo with lamb " and "Ghormeh-sabzi". It was by far the best we've tasted. We thank Minoo-jan and the staff for the exceptional service. We will definitely visit again.

It was my first time visiting Cologne, and I chose to eat here. It left me with a bad memory of that day. The waitress was rude and unbelievably unprofessional. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone and will never come back.

Everything was fine until we found something wrong with the food! We ordered kebab, ash reshteh, and kashk-e-bademjan. The kebab and kashk-e-bademjan were tasty and well served. However, the ash reshteh was not well cooked, and I cannot believe how impolite, and unprofessional the staff were when we informed them and asked for a refund. Never gonna go there again.

The owner of the restaurant was really rude to us. One of our foods tasted so bad and we asked her to return it but she did not accept that but in a rude way. It was our second bad experience in this restaurant and we don't recommend it to anyone else.

I was there and it was my last time. They were completely rude to us. We didnt like the food and told them itsnot well cooked but they said it is the exact taste. We couldnt eat the food because the taste was so bad. They dont respect the customers.

I was able to reserve a table spontaneously and thanks to my Iranian companion I received the best advice. The restaurant was well attended, the atmosphere was nice, but the tables are very close together so that you can hear all the conversations from the next tables. We ordered 6 different dishes, unfortunately I have to say that none of them were delicious. Grilled chicken, barberry rice with chicken, mahiche and chenje tasted completely raw without being marinated. I have eaten Iranian food in various German cities, but in this restaurant I experienced the worst quality.

The food was okay. But the drink prices are out of this world. A 0.2 Cola costs just under €4.50, and the drinks aren't even that expensive at the Edel Italian restaurant. A pity :(

I only ate Sultani here and I can only comment on it and to be honest it was not good at all!! The quality did not match the price of the food at all (the price was high and the quality was low compared to the price paid) and you should only pay with PayPal!!! It was one of the worst experiences of my life. After writing a negative review last night, the owner called me, hurling insults and threats because of my comment. I had to go to the police station for my own safety.

The lady was rude and apparently if you add your opinion on google the owner try’s to threaten you with finding and beating you!!! even though if he knew who he is talking to he wouldn’t talk that way for sure!! Do not recommend!!! Oh by the way they only accept cash to not pay taxes

The food is excellent. We ordered koobideh with wonderful rice, and a sheep banana with rice, after which it was wonderful. The quantity is enough for two people for the second order. Also, the yoghurt dog is wonderful and the Shirazi salad is excellent, but the amount of salad is very small and milk with cucumber. The price was 69.50€.

Unfortunately, our experience at this restaurant was really unpleasant. They only accept cash, which doesn't translate to lower prices; in fact, their prices are the same but with lower quality compared to Persian restaurants, which accept EC cards. When we, a group of four, tried to order three main dishes and one starter (which was also expensive), the owner insisted we order four main dishes without providing any explanation. Despite our inquiry, he simply stated, "It's my restaurant, my rule!" and claimed the exceptional quality of his food. Hungry and eager, we reluctantly tried their food, only to find it did not live up to the owner's claims. The Juje kabab was dry and below average, while the Mahiche was also dry and mediocre. The only dish that stood out was the Kabab Kubide. What truly frustrated us was observing two other tables, each with two guests, being allowed to order just one main dish and one starter. This inconsistency in enforcing rules confused us. To add insult to injury: the final bill including 19% VAT but unable to pay with a card !? This experience was shameless and unbelievable. We will not be returning.

The name Sadaf (mussel) is very apt, because in Sadaf you will find a culinary pearl. In the middle of Cologne's Old Town South, this restaurant is located next to an Iranian bookstore. Although there are many parking options in the area, you should allow enough time to find a parking space. But let's get to the bottom line of the review. Sadaf serves authentic Iranian food. There is no need for convenience, everything is fresh and of high quality. The owner sets high standards and knows his craft. The service is also similar to Persian hospitality. The ambience has a traditional, rustic charm. A table should be reserved in advance as the restaurant is relatively small. The Sadaf is worth not just one visit, but many, and my next visit is also being planned. Thanks to the whole team!

I had the mixed grill plate! What can I say? It was indescribably delicious. The meat is super marinated and, above all, very tender and still cooked through. The perfect consistency for me! Of course there was rice and tursu. If you like pickled vegetables, you should definitely order this! I would give more stars if I could. The price may not be that cheap, but quality has its price. great and friendly older ladies who served us. Very personable and very friendly. We had various dishes taken from the menu. From various coals and kebabs. The dishes were tasty and well prepared. Unfortunately, there were only a few pieces of lamb in the Khoresht Karafs (4 pieces in total). The Tschendje Kebab was a bit dry, but the Kubideh was very good. The starter plate was OK. The interpreter seemed to me whether it was finished goods. Which I didn't particularly like. Price performance is in a high segment, which for our part does not necessarily reflect the portions and dishes. Overall, we liked it and can recommend Sadaf if you want to try Persian dishes. We will definitely come back and would be happy if you would take our review to heart. Shortcoming: There is no upward potential to get more positive points and reviews. 1. Unexpectedly irresponsible about what you ordered. I was asking for extra grilled tomato, they put only two small pieces for 4 dishes 😳 The food is also very ordinary, not special at all. Not grilled chicken you see. That was fine for me to try there once forever… 😉 یعنی از این بدتر دیگه نمیشه… 🫢

During our trip to Cologne last week, we went to this restaurant for dinner according to the Google route. From the moment we entered this restaurant, the behavior of the staff was not respectful until they gave us a table to sit with great hesitation. Our host, Mr. Kaveh, who I don't know if he was a waiter, a manager or a manager, far from being professional, gave us food that was of poor quality and more expensive than the usual rates of other restaurants. In the end, when we said that we are travelers and we want to pay by card and we don't have enough cash, they told us that it is behind the dishes to be washed, with a politeness and behavior that is far from politeness and professionalism. Yes, they insisted that this is customary. It is thought-provoking that the unprofessional and unpolite behavior of him and the rest of the staff and the low-quality food, which was not representative of Iranian food at all, did not reflect the Iranian culture. We hope that they will find a suitable job with their own literature, politeness and personality and leave this work to cultured and experienced people.

Good and tasty Persian cuisine, the “sauce dishes like mother’s” are great, definitely try them! For me, the poultry with the plum and spinach sauce belongs in the “Unfortunately awesome (tasty)” category. The service is attentive and quick and always takes care of the physical well-being of its guests.

Wir waren zu viert und, obwohl der Laden rappelvoll war, mussten wir nicht übermäßig lang auf unser Essen warten. Wir hatten gemischte Vorspeisen, Linsensuppe, sowie Spieße und ein Lamm-Schmorgericht. Alles war sehr, sehr lecker und im Preis angemessen. Allein die Preise für Getränke sind sehr hoch (Preis für eine Flasche Wasser 9€!). Ansonsten aber war es ein sehr gelungener Abend

For non-Iranian people I can imagine that it was super tasty! For my (Iranian) taste, I found it too healthy and careful with the use of herbs, garlic, etc. But I understand the cooking that wants to generate a taste that also suits European! Let's put it this way! If I were in Iran I would go to another restaurant ten times! But compared to all Iranian restaurants I know, Sadaf was just fine.
