s' Wirtshaus im Weinbauer in Schwangau

I came to dinner with my wife on November 3, 2025, at 8:00 PM. The waiter was clearly not happy to see us; he even commented, "Who comes to eat this late, for crying out loud?" The few people who arrived after us received the same unpleasant welcome and similar comments. A couple who came at 8:30 PM were so embarrassed by the situation that they left their table within a minute. As a cook myself, I think the place has a lot of potential. The main problem was the waiter that day. Indeed, I find it a shame that the person who is supposed to promote the establishment could ruin the atmosphere for all their customers and drive them away.

The food was very good and the portions were generous. We were definitely full. The waiter was very friendly and the service was very good.

We come here often because the food is delicious and the atmosphere is wonderful. And everything is homemade.

Overall, we weren't impressed with the food: My wife's turkey steak was topped with broccoli and cheese and was quite okay, but the canned peaches sandwiched between the meat and broccoli didn't quite fit. The separately served hash browns were extremely greasy. My Wiener schnitzel tasted okay, but had tendons in two places, which significantly diminished its enjoyment. The fried potatoes were also quite greasy and partially burnt. And the "fun" was expensive for such poor quality! We won't be going there again.

Excellent Bavarian cuisine. The service was quirky and humorous. We felt very comfortable and promised that we'd be happy to become hotel guests sometime soon.

We ate here three evenings as we were also guests of the hotel. The food was truly delicious, and the service was...excellent...the young man is very polite and open, and attentive to his guests. We've rarely experienced such great service...we can't understand the negative reviews...but oh well...someone always complains...usually the people who are so tense on vacation...and just because you didn't like the food, you don't have to make such a fuss...maybe order something different next time...or get rid of your bad mood somewhere else...as I said...we agree with the majority...were very satisfied...and all this talk about value for money...I assume most people don't even know how to judge that... We'll definitely be back. Keep up the good work, and best regards to the waiter...

Food nothing special, not appropriate for the price

We stopped here spontaneously on our day trip to the Allgäu region. The exterior impression is very inviting – quaint and traditional. Inside, the house is huge, everything is spotlessly clean and beautifully furnished, with various dining rooms and halls. We then sat down on the cozy, pleasantly quiet terrace. After ringing the service bell, a very pleasant waiter quickly arrived, who from then on served us in a friendly, professional, attentive, and cordial manner. The menu (unfortunately not available on the restaurant's website, and the prices published elsewhere online are not up-to-date… 😉) is home-style, with the usual "inn specialties" of the region. A selection that whets the appetite – absolutely fitting for the ambiance. The selected dishes (Allgäuer Leckerle, herring, apricot dumplings) were all of good quality, freshly prepared, tasty, and attractively presented. The food arrived promptly, and the portions were very generous! The prices are on the high side, so it's not for every day, but occasionally it's worth it, because the overall package was (still) just right. We definitely felt very welcome and comfortable and would definitely stop for dinner again.

The inn has a very cozy ambiance. The food is outstanding. It's typical of the region, lovingly prepared, and of high quality. Friendly and very attentive service makes the stay perfect.

⸻ Absolute disappointment – never again! We went to the Viehscheid (cattle drive) in Pfronten last year and wanted to try something new this time instead of going to the same old restaurants. From the outside, the s' Wirtshaus im Weinbauer in Schwangau makes a very appealing impression – rustic, traditional, Bavarian. Unfortunately, appearances were truly deceptive. Then inside, we were shocked: What was served had absolutely nothing to do with good Bavarian cuisine. My so-called Wiener Schnitzel was tough as leather – difficult to cut and even harder to chew. Enjoyment? None at all. The other dishes at the table were also inedible – mushy side dishes, carelessly presented, and completely tasteless. We complained immediately, but a real solution or apology? None. Conclusion: Great on the outside, terrible on the inside – and I mean that literally. Anyone who values quality should steer well clear of this place.

Good food, but nothing special. Schnitzel and fries without vegetables. The price is quite high. You can eat on the covered terrace. That would be nice in moderate weather, but we were there in bright sunshine, and then it's too warm on the terrace. You can also eat inside.

Following a tip, for which we were very grateful, we were able to enjoy the extensive menu there. My personal favorite, and one I would go back for again and again, is the "Kaiserschmarrn." After several visits over the past few years, we have always been very satisfied. The staff is extremely friendly and accommodating, and the wait times are not too long—all dishes are very well prepared.

Very good Bavarian cuisine. I had the knuckle of pork and the meat was super tender. The staff puts a lot of heart and soul into their work, and I felt very comfortable. I'd love to come back on my next vacation.

MEGA MEGA MEGA. The waiter, Siggi, remembers what you've ordered before. The atmosphere is fantastic; you feel really cozy in this inn. There's even a guest book at the front where you can sign. The drinks were delicious, and the food was amazing. I had Käsespatzen once, which was super tasty and well-seasoned, and the other two times I had the Kaiserschmarrn, which I highly recommend. My partner had the Allgäuer Leckerli, which was his absolute favorite. The Böfflamott (yes, that's what it's called) was also very, very tasty, and the venison goulash was a dream; I tried that too ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Disappointed with the quality of the food ordered for the price ratio. It was probably a dish that was already ready and just warmed up. The pork fillet was thin and dry and colder than the Kasspatzen, which already formed a unit with the champions. Further down the Kasspatzen became warmer. With all the love for the company, it can be done much better for the prices.

The food was delicious. The portion size is also very good. I think the prices are exaggerated. Water €9 Kässpatzen €20 that's a lot. Unfortunately we had to leave straight after dinner because it was closing time at 9 p.m. on a Saturday.

Yes, I absolutely can. However, we looked at the menu online beforehand and found the prices to be a bit high, but on site it was another 10 euros. The page has not been updated. The restaurant manager was really great and took things well. The food was tasty and the ambience was great. We like to come back but less often because of the prices.

I was only there once and my rating is based on comparable restaurant experiences in the region. The taste of the food is completely fine. I even found the service and ambience good. Unfortunately, the prices really drag down the overall impression. Because the taste is comparable to surrounding restaurants. The portion sizes tend to be smaller or at most identical. There are also additional charges here, which I don't know from other restaurants. As a guest of the directly adjacent hotel, I was prepared for a comparable, very good price-performance ratio - so I wasn't really satisfied overall. In principle, I can recommend this inn - but you shouldn't set your expectations too high because of the prices.

AMAZING Bavarian Dish! Really wholesome owner and extravagant service!

Actually a nice restaurant with potential, but due to the somewhat clumsy and inexperienced-looking service, the not even mediocre cuisine and the prices that are far too high, it unfortunately isn't even enough for three stars. I also get spaetzle with cabbage and bacon, which tastes neither like cabbage nor bacon, in the refrigerated section of the nearby supermarket.

The taste is good, but quite expensive for good home cooking and the portions are very manageable.

Food was OK but not outstanding, which is what you might expect for the hyperbolic prices. 2 simple lunches and 2 soft drinks €61.50. On the other hand, you eat in an equivalent restaurant with almost three people. In principle that would be manageable, but if I have to eat a snack from my hiking backpack after going to a restaurant because I'm still hungry, then the portions are definitely far too small. Another tip for service. Asking the question whether everything is ok is enough once and not 3 times.

Had dinner with my wife at the Weinbauer on the first day of vacation. After half an hour I called loudly for a waiter and said that I was thirsty. Then ordered beer goulash, which should consist of pork and beef. There was no sign of the beef and after removing all the fat there wasn't much left of the pork either. My wife ordered pork schnitzel with potato salad. Wiener Schnitzel with fried potatoes arrived, which was immediately complained about. When I was finished, my wife also received her food. The waitress shouldn't have asked me the usual question about whether the food was tasty. I expressed my opinion in detail, whereupon the boss bought us a schnapps. Last but not least, we also had to complain about the bill because my wife was charged the full price instead of the senior portion. Absolutely no recommendation!

Great restaurant, unique food and good selection on the menu. You will receive a warm and typically Bavarian welcome here, and the staff will be very attentive and helpful. You can't actually ignore the daily menu, because it's so crucial to entering this restaurant. The food is unique, well seasoned and tastes simply great, the kitchen really conjures up culinary delights for the guests. What impresses me are the opening times, as many in the area have a lunch break (from around 1:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.).

On the way back from Austria to home, we stopped in Schwangau quite by chance and discovered this restaurant with great pleasure. A very good welcome in the room. Superb decoration typical of the region and succulent dishes. Nothing to complain about.

Had dinner there. I have to say, we are not cheap friends, but the prices, no matter what food you choose, are bottomless! 2 people, 2 simple dishes, a drink each for an incredible 80 euros!!! Then my wife's request (fried potatoes instead of warm potato salad) was charged an extra 2 euros!! The food wasn't bad, but it can't cure cancer either.

During my vacation in Schwangau I had dinner at Weinbauer im S'Wirtshaus! The service employee was friendly and helpful. Food was served quickly without a long wait! I served the super tasty pork loins with cream sauce and cheese spatzle in an original pan. Everything is very good in the S' Wirtshaus, price-performance ratio is 100%! keep it up ......!!!

A very cozy inn with a beautiful beer garden. We enjoyed the food very much and the portions were generous. The beer from Scheyern Monastery is highly recommended. A very special thank you for the great service goes to Siggi, who impressed us with his open and friendly manner and a delicious apricot schnapps. We can highly recommend this inn and would be happy to come back.

We spontaneously went to dinner with 7 people. There were 5 children between the ages of 2 and 12. Both the service and the food were good. Individual requests were also addressed without batting an eyelid. We'd love to come back.

We had knuckle and we liked it. The service was friendly and attentive. This is how I was told, for example: B. sauce was added without being asked. There is nothing for me to complain about. I would go back tomorrow if I wasn't on the way home.

As part of my stay at the hotel, I spontaneously visited the restaurant in the evening. It was easy to get a seat on the large terrace in the early evening. The staff is very friendly, accommodating but not intrusive. Very good menu with regional delicacies, among other things. The food was served quickly and at a good temperature. We've been coming to Schwangau for years and always eat at the winemaker's. Unfortunately, we were very dissatisfied this time and can therefore not pronounce a good recession. Ambience and service - everything is fine and good as always, but the prices are in no way proportional to the quality and are unparalleled in the region. Carelessly prepared food at a completely exorbitant price, so you shouldn't be surprised that guests aren't there. Sitting down at the guests' table and accusing the region of only relying on the castles is an impertinence. Unfortunately, the winemaker is no longer an option for us.

Ich war mit meiner Frau zum Abendessen, wir hatten nur Maultaschen,3 halbierte Maultaschen für 17,90 € ,das waren mal in echten Geld 35 DM und einen Teller Krautspatzen also Kraut mit Spätzle auch für 17,90 € das waren auch mal 35 DM. Nein, ich jammere nicht der guten alten Zeit nach. Ich habe auch kein Problem für gutes reichhaltiges Essen einen angemessenen Preis zu zahlen aber Kinderportionen für Erwachsenen Preise ist frech! Jetzt weiß ich auch warum der Laden so leer war! Und falls Ihre Erfahrung im Gastrobereich noch nicht wirklich ausgeprägt sein sollte, nur zur Information,wenn ich einen Schoppenwein anbiete sollte dieser in der Karte auch die Maßeinheit Schoppen also 0,25 und nicht 0,20 erfüllen. Rustic Bavarian furnished inn, unfortunately the price-performance ratio wasn't really good. We are happy to pay more if the quality is good. Portion size (we had pork loin with spaetzle and cheese spaetzle) and taste left something to be desired. Even the wine spritzer only tasted like water. The service can also be improved in terms of friendliness and attentiveness.

Das Essen war perfekt gegart und wurde schnell serviert. Sowohl beim Fleisch als auch bei den Knödln stimmte die Qualität definitiv und die Soße war geschmacklich sehr gut. Die Bedienung war ebenfalls sehr freundlich und arbeitete schnell und sorgfältig ohne dabei aufdringlich zu sein oder dem Gast das Gefühl zunvermitteln, ihn gar nicht wahrzunehmen. Trotz der Tatsache, dass das Restaurant am Abend unseres Besuchs sehr voll war, hatten wir einen ruhigen Tisch und es herrschte eine angenehme urige Stimmung. Die Preise waren für die Größe der Portionen und die Qualität definitiv angemessen.

Mit großer Freude saßen wir am letzten Urlaubstag im Biergarten-Hof des Wirtshauses Weinbauer. Leider wurden wir sehr enttäuscht. Wir gehen häufig und gerne Essen, haben auch kein Problem mit etwas höheren Preisen. Aber mit höheren Preise und dafür schlechterem Essen haben wir dann doch ein Problem. Eine schlechte Portion Pommes für 7,90 € ist schon nicht ok, aber uns 2,90 € für eine Zusatzbestellung (die es eigentlich nicht gibt) einer FERTIGSAUSSE (Rahmsoße) zum Schnitzel zu präsentieren ist schon ein starkes Stück. Aber nicht nur die Fertigsoße selbst wurde berechnet, sondern auch noch jeweils 2 x 2,50 € für die Änderung des Schnitzelgerichtes (also die Soße) von mir und meiner Tochter.... Viel Erfolg mit diesem Gastronomie-Konzept, wir kommen auf jeden Fall nicht mehr wieder.

Dieses Restaurant liegt an einer stark befahrenen Straße, es gibt mehrere Teile im Restaurant, wo man sitzen und essen kann. Die Einrichtung ist eher rustikal, aber dennoch gemütlich. Über das Hotel an sich, kann ich nichts sagen, da wir dort nur gegessen hatten. Wir waren mit Freunden ein verlängertes Wochenende (5 Tage) in Schwangau, um Urlaub zu machen und haben das Wirtshaus Samstag Abend besucht, um unser Abendessen einzunehmen. Bestellt hatten wir 2 x Haxe und 2 x Allgäuer Kässpatzen. Die Portionen waren riesig, ich habe meine Kässpatzen nicht gepackt (ich hätte mir mehr Würze gewünscht), auch mein Mann (der eigentlich ein guter Esser ist) hat seine Haxe nicht gepackt. Bedient wurden wir von einer sehr netten Servicekraft, namens Becki, die war auf Zack und hatte immer einen frechen (aber nicht unverschämten) Spruch auf den Lippen, ein richtiger Wirbelwind, der nebenbei auch noch die Gäste unterhalten konnte. Den Preis für die Kässpatzen fand ich schon etwas grenzwertig, aber zu der Größe der Portion ok. Und weil es so schön gemütlich war, kamen wir montags nochmal zum Essen, allerdings waren wir in einem anderen Teil des Restaurants untergebracht. Hier war der Service eher etwas lahm. Wir hatten echt Hunger und freuten uns schon auf das Essen. Wir haben auch extra keine Vorspeise bestellt, damit wir das Hauptgericht auch packen. Bestellt wurde 2 x Cordon bleu aus der Butterpfanne mit Pommes, 1 x Rinderroulade mit Blaukraut und hausgemachten Butterspätzle und Steak von der Hofputenbrust mit Brokkoli, Mandeln, Pfirsich und mit Heumilchkäse überbacken, dazu Rösti. Das Essen kam, ich schaute erstaunt auf meinen Teller. Wo ist das Putensteak? Unter einer Schicht Käse fand ich, max. 2 Brokkoliröschen, paar Scheiben Pfirsich und darunter doch tatsächlich das Putensteak. Tadaaaa - recht dünn ausgefallen und so "groß" wie mein Handteller (ich bin 1,57, da ist der Handteller relativ klein). Naja geschmacklich habe ich mir dann auch etwas anderes vorgestellt, die Rösti (2 Stück) waren alles andere als knusprig. Wir aßen alles auf. Wie sagt man so schön... der Hunger treibts runter. Zu der Rinderroulade gabs nur einen Klecks Blaukraut (mein Mann wurde diesmal nicht satt, geschmacklich war es auch recht fade... Aussage meines Mannes). Die Bedienung kam, um abzuräumen und fragte, ob es denn geschmeckt habe. Mein Mann meinte, wir wären schon enttäuscht, da wir von Samstag doch anderes gewohnt waren, geschmacklich hätte auch Würze gefehlt. Das Putensteak wäre verschwindend klein gewesen und die Portionen an sich auch. Sie meinte, oh, ich geb's dann mal weiter. Danach kam eine andere Bedienung, die unser Essen auch aufgenommen hatte und fragte, wer denn die Putenbrust hatte. Sie meinte daraufhin, wenn ich einverstanden wäre, würde sie mir eine kleine Portion berechnen und ich durfte mir noch ein Dessert als Wiedergutmachung aussuchen. Apfelstrudel mit Eis ist es geworden und es war auch sehr lecker. Die Rechnung kam, 2 € wurden für mein Putensteak weniger berechnet, was für die Größe mit 22,80 € ja schon recht hochpreisig war. Na gut, aber ich war satt. Alles in allem ist hier noch sehr viel Luft nach oben, was Geschmack und Portionsgrößen betrifft. Ich frage mich, wieso hier die Portionsgröße so variiert, da doch samstags alles portionsmäßig ok war. Aber Becki muss ich nochmal besonders erwähnen. Solche Servicekräfte wünscht man sich, schnell, freundlich und auf Zack - an ihr merkt man, dass ihr der Job Spaß macht. Kämen wir nochmal nach Schwangau, würden wir uns nach einem anderen Restaurant umschauen, denn der Urlaub soll ja auch insgesamt schön werden...

Ich hatte das Cordon Bleu. Die Pommes waren mittelmäßig. Das Cordon Bleu allerdings eine Unverschämtheit. Das Fleisch war extrem dünn geschnitten. Trotzdem hatte es eine zähe, gummiartige Konsistenz und war von gräulicher Farbe. Der Schinken klebte fest am Fleisch, ohne durch einen eigenen Geschmack aufzufallen. Der Käse, angeblich "Bergkäse" (mit Betonung), völlig geschmacksneutral, blass und ebenfalls von eigenartige Konsistenz. Das schlimmste aber: hier hat nicht nur die Qualität nicht dem Preis entsprochen, etwas hat nicht gestimmt. Entweder war das Bratfett alt oder das Schnitzel. Nach höflich Beanstandung, die von der Bedienung freundlich entgegengenommen wurde, wurde trotzdem das gesamte Essen in Rechnung gestellt. Ich war wirklich irritiert: das Restaurant wirkte gepflegt und gut geführt, der Service war freundlich und aufmerksam. Aber das Essen leider unterirdisch.
