Restaurant Alpenstuben in Schwangau

My partner and I were on a coach tour and visited this busy restaurant for lunch. The service was excellent, we were served by a very friendly man. Although it was busy service was good. I chose sausage with sauerkraut and potatoes, my partner chose a cheeseburger. Both meals were excellent. When we left there was a large queue waiting outside. The town was very busy with lots of tourists visiting the castles. Well worth visiting.

Clean, quiet, safe, friendly service

This review is solely for the restaurant. The food is pretty good. The seafood soup is one of the best I ever taste. The beef soup with noodle and pasta was yummy. The knuckle was okay. Presentation of food is good!

We ate in the Alpenstube and absolutely loved it! The atmosphere is cozy and typically Alpine, designed with great attention to detail. The food was simply amazing – every dish was freshly prepared and full of flavor. Of particular note are the [name of the dish, e.g. B. “homemade cheese spaetzle” or “regional specialties”] that were simply perfect. The service was warm, attentive and ensured that we felt completely comfortable. You can immediately tell that people work here with passion. A real highlight for us and highly recommended for anyone traveling in the area. We'll definitely be back!

A beautiful hotel in the center, very clean and friendly staff.

Review for the restaurant: We stayed at Villa Ludwig Suite Hotel and the receptionist recommended us to eat at Alpenstuben. The receptionist said we’d get special rates and I mentioned it at the restaurant just to joke around but the female waitress didn’t reply to what I said with no facial expressions and just sat us down then left quickly. Then an older male waiter came. I was very excited and started to order food and he only accepted orders for drinks. He talked down to me in a rude tone. It was either “His way or no way!” The food was only so so for both my husband and I and overpriced for what it was. Definitely don’t recommend unless you like cold service and to be talked down like his maid. Also, I paid for the dinner with my Apple Pay. The waiter asked me to sign on the receipt. Isn’t Apple Pay secure enough???

€18 for two cups of hot milk and half a liter of water! With annoyed looks because we had been sitting at the table for an hour!

Checked in on 12/7. The location of the accommodation is quite good. It is very close to the visitor center and the carriage ride. Parking is conveniently located in the open space opposite the accommodation. After parking, you can go to the counter to apply for a certificate (fee required) and put it in front of the car window. The room was clean, the toilet was small, and the service staff was kind and specially helped me arrange a room with Neuschwanstein Castle that I could see from the balcony. It was really great! There is no elevator in the B&B and we need to carry our luggage upstairs by ourselves. On the way, we met a male service staff who offered to help us carry our luggage. I am really grateful to him! Dined at the restaurant in the evening and ordered the pig's feet which was not bad. The breakfast the next day was very rich and the dining environment was comfortable. The yogurt and bread were delicious👍If I have the chance to come back, I will choose to stay here again👍

Writing for the restaurant: Racist to Asian people and unfriendly to all customers in general. We come with our French friend, we speak proper English, and the old guy with specs (we suspect is the boss) speaks English fluently and can understands us completely . However, the boss is so so rude to us and to other customers. We were soooo disappointed by the attitude, we came because we saw review on XiaoHongShu APP by the Chinese people saying that the food here is nice. Later when our French Friend speaks German, his attitude gets a bit better. Shame on you, the boss of Alphenstuben, such a racist.

Restaurant review - super cute interior, warm and welcoming! We had to get our Käsespätzle to go as we ran out of time before our bus, but it was absolutely delicious and packaged with care 😋

Stayed at the Villa Ludwig and had dinner in the Alpenstuben Restaurant. Both the food and service were first class. Excellent food and very warm and inviting atmosphere. Highly recommend to anyone.

Restaurant review, not the hotel. Flavorful food with fast service. I had the grilled chicken with rice and vegetables. My husband had the burger with fries. My one negative comment is even if you pay to eat here, you still have to pay to use the bathrooms. I know paying for toilettes is common in Europe, but feel that spending $60 on food and drink should warrant a free bathroom trip.

Unfortunately only for one night and one dinner but we didn't regret it. Great hotel/restaurant with a friendly atmosphere throughout. The rooms were in very good condition with wooden laminate floors and we felt comfortable. The dinner and breakfast were very good, everyone found something to fill them up. There is a parking lot opposite the hotel where we were able to leave our car for 10 euros during our stay in Schwangau. We can definitely recommend this hotel and the restaurant and will visit it again if we are looking for somewhere to stay overnight nearby.

Hotel WITHOUT ELEVATOR, small but correct room, everything clean even though the hallway always has cleaning supplies and bedding in the middle. Very well located, it has a bar and restaurant service as well as a souvenir shop and parking, 40 meters away is the ticket office for the castles and the museum as well as the horse carts. Restaurant with good and good products but expensive (like all those in the area).

Place to eat in the Raja Ludwing 2 castle area, comfortable, clean, there are toilets, the burgers are a must try, on holidays and weekends, come early so you don't queue

The room was small but very cozy and nice. The rooms also have a very nice bathroom. The staff SUPER FRIENDLY!!!! And the breakfast is just perfect. Especially the nutella maschi ne and the pancakes!

We can only recommend eating here, it was very good and the staff was very friendly.

Very unfriendly and rude staff. We had to wait over 30 minutes for the bill even though the restaurant was hardly occupied. The Kaiserschmarn was very, very tasty, hence two stars.

What to say? The places are "comfortable" for sleeping, the room is soundproofed and generally ok but the beds are really very soft so if we are sensitive to it you will feel it. Furthermore, while moving a piece of furniture, we noticed excess dust, probably indicating neglect of cleaning. The meal was good and the breakfast very good! On the other hand, the service is a bit deplorable, not really commercial and even less human warmth. The worst thing is when the staff demands their tip at the end having been the most unpleasant throughout. Knowing that on average we only come to see the place once, they allow themselves to be cold and unwelcoming... At least the hotel is in a great location.

Everything was really well prepared. The schnitzel was the best we had during our two week trip throughout Germany, Austria and Czechia. It was crisp and buttery. Just right!

Pleasant restaurant with both indoor and outdoor seating, offering the standard food items. Limoncello spritz was very nice, however, my pork schnitzel would have benefited from a tad more seasoning. Great location.

The food here is really good. We ordered 3 items, except for the steak, which tastes a bit tough. Maybe Germans like this taste. It was almost 90% rare. Everything else was very satisfying.

Wir haben dieses Hotel für eine Zwischenübernachtung genutzt. Es ist ein kleines, aber feines Hotel. Wir hatten ein Romantikzimmer gebucht. Dieses Zimmer war zwar sehr klein, reichte aber völlig für eine Übernachtung. Dafür hatten wir einen tollen Blick auf Schloss Neuschwanstein. Das Essen im Restaurant hat uns super geschmeckt. Wir können dieses Hotel sehr gerne weiterempfehlen.

We stopped here for lunch before touring Neuschwanstein Castle. The food was delicious and came out very quickly. The only problem was our server, Gabor. Our friend ordered the dumplings, but he brought her a cheeseburger. When she told him she ordered the dumplings, he rudely argued with her and told her she did order the burger. Huh?!?! She finally got her 3 dumplings, which consisted of spinach, beets and pumpkin. They were absolutely amazing! When it was time to pay, Gabor charged her for the cheeseburger. We do a lot of international travel, and this felt very rude. We don’t like to leave bad reviews, but this is merited. The kitchen team, however, deserves much props. Well done!

There was not a lot of restaurants at the area so we randomly chose one. Limited range of food. The food was just fair. Hardly got anyone to help as all servers seem super busy.

The hotel is very good: clean, cosy, comfortable beds, very good breakfast (the choice is just enough, but the quality is perfect, even the coffee), the perfect price-quality ratio. I would like to thank the hotel staff: everything was very fast done, very professional and friendly!

Best choice for sit down at Neuschwanstein. On street a few meters from walking trail to castle. Reasonable prices. Western (burgers, pasta) and traditional dishes. I enjoyed the pork schnitzel with spatzel (substituted for potatoes). Would definitely return if visiting the castle. Deaserts looked quite large but nothing particularly “german” to tempt me!

Minimum to pay by card is €25 and the man who served us barely missed spitting on us when he told us that we couldn't pay for a coffee with a card. They have abusive prices and on top of that they treat you with contempt.

Nach einem Schloss Besuch wollte ich etwas trinken, vielleicht danach auch etwas essen. Ich war alleine unterwegs. Ich wählte einen Tisch aus, doch die Bedienung meinte, der sei reserviert und brachte mich an einen anderen Tisch. Dieser war aber genau am Küchenausgang. Darum lehnte ich ab. Ich bemerkte, dass das reserviert Schild auf allen Tischen stand. Man brachte mich an einen dritten Tisch ganz weit in einer hinteren Ecke. Während dieser gesamten Aktion musste ich die Speisekarte selber schleppen. Ein ganz mieser Service war das, weswegen ich mich entschied, nach dem Trinken zu bezahlen zu gehen. Ich gab kein Trinkgeld. dieses Lokal ist nur zu empfehlen, wenn man mindestens noch zwei oder drei weitere Personen am Tisch hat. Wer alleine unterwegs ist, hat miese Karten! Man wird diskriminiert, Unverschämt und sexistisch behandelt.

We were seated right away. Luca was our server who was excellent. He was very attentive and took great care of us. Our food was good. The apple streusel with vanilla ice cream was amazing. I would recommend eating here!

La mia esperienza in questo ristorante fa riferimento a due sere. Partendo dalla prima, quando io e fam siamo approdati in hotel ai piedi dell'imponente castello Neuschwanstein ore 20.30 dopo delle quali il ristorante chiude la cucina. Con minima insistenza ci hanno fatto sedere per una zuppa di goulash (buona). Un malinteso con la birra e l'indisponenza di una cameriera ci hanno fatto detestare questo locale soprattutto per la scortesia, quindi non ci saremmo neanche più tornati la sera dopo. Invece abbiamo deciso di dare un'altra chance. E non ce ne siamo pentiti! Cucina ottima, dalle zuppe, ai gnocchetti tipici allo stinco. Le cameriere di quella sera poi erano gentilissime. Ad essere pignoletti le uniche delusioni sono state la Sacher Torte (impasto troppo secco) e la Pepsi zero, davvero troppo dolce e stomachevole.

Is it reasonable for a restaurant server to blatantly ask for a 10% tip from a customer? At least I haven't had this experience with other German restaurants and this restaurant was the worst experience we had while traveling in Germany.

Arrived, asked if there was room for something to eat. We were placed outside on the terrace. That's fine in itself, but it should be asked... if it unexpectedly starts to rain... "Then we'll solve that." Ordered food, ordered drinks. The moment the food is delivered it starts to rain. Can we go in? "No, that's not possible, because you have already ordered." While there are still at least 10 tables available inside.... Other people from the terrace are brought in, but not us, because we have already ordered. Threw leftover beer in the food, paid and left running towards the imbiss around the corner where they had a roof and provided excellent service! AlpenStuben... NEVER AGAIN! Unmotivated service staff. Bad service and no empathy at all. If you still need to book I would recommend another hotel.

This was the best experience I have had! ❤️ The room was traditional but classy. The restaurant ambience was cute but cozy. The food were yummy and properly served. The waitresses were friendly with traditional dress/attire. I am muslim, I had vegetarian meals for dinner and breakfast 🥰 alhamdulillah This hotel is just 40minutes walking distance to Neuschwanstein Castle.

We were there 5 nights. Room with balcony. Towards the castle. Rooms were great. All you need. On a high level. I can only recommend. Great dinner in the evening. Of course, very nice prices. But owed to.... But whatever. Vacation. I recommend this accommodation.5 stars. Staff 5 stars.

Pour un dîner, il n'y a pas vraiment le choix. Accueil sympa, service rapide et souriant. Les plats sont bons (excellent sandre) et généreux. Les prix sont raisonnables.

Mon commentaire va dénoter parce que pour notre part, le dîner dans ce restaurant n’a pas été une bonne expérience… La carte offre une promesse sympa mais le résultat est clairement insipide. Nous avons pris un traditionnel wiener schnitzel et un burger. Rarement mangé si mauvais (même sur l’autoroute c’est meilleur). Vu l’emplacement, on s’attend bien sûr à payer un peu cher son repas mais là c’est presque se moquer du monde. Allez y pour la bière, qui elle est bonne, et l’emplacement au pied du château. Sinon préférez un restau dans le village un peu plus bas.

Siamo stati qui a pranzo dopo aver visitato il castello di Neuschwanstein, dista circa 10 minuti dal parcheggio del bus. Abbiamo mangiato un hamburger con formaggio e del pollo accompagnato dalle verdure al burro. Una piacevole pausa tra una visita e l'altra.

Gezellig ingericht, echt Beiers restaurant met vlotte en vriendelijke bediening. We aten er omdat het restaurant in eigen hotel gesloten was. Ipv de bestelde Hirtengulash kregen we eerst een forse hamburger, maar de vergissing werd meteen en snel rechtgezet. Ook de Schweinhaxe was suoer. Met 5,8 euro voor een Helles zijn deze prijzen wel fors. Ook het in Duitsland traditioneel bijhorend slaatje, dat niet echt werd besteld, bleek achteraf apart te worden aangerekend.

Schönes Restaurant mit grossem Biergarten. Wir haben während unserem Aufenthalt 6 Mal hier gegessen. Sehr freundliches, aufmerksames Personal, grosse Portionen und authentische einheimische Gerichte. Lediglich der Burger war keine Offenbarung :-(

Edit: To the probably ironic answer of the restaurant below, I don't have high expectations. But I do find it inappropriate that I had to buy Pringles and other snacks to eat something tasty. I could not cut the meat that was slow cooked for hours with my knife. I find it unbelievable the absolute lack of salt and pepper in my burger. We used the ketchup dip on everything to add something to the otherwise unsavory food. For some reason you managed to mess up even the most basic of foods. Lack of flavor and lack of cooking know-how. The most basic souvlaki in Greece far exceeds the quality and the flavors of your far too expensive dishes. Not to mention that your waitress "mistakenly" tried to overcharge us and had the nerve to ask for a tip after all that. The atmosphere is adequate and the staff polite. But for me the most important is the food. I do not know who reviewed this place but the food is below acceptable. Prefer a street vendor with bratwurst hotdogs or even a Macdonald's. While the quality is probably ok there is no flavor to the food. I wouldn't know the difference between this and a bag of straws. Honestly the street vendor near the castle serving hot dogs is better! Keep away. The price is not justified neither by the portions nor the taste.

Siamo stati all'Alpenstuben nel periodo estivo e, devo dire, che il clima, condito dalla natura e anche dalla vista del castello, era magico. Abbiamo provato lo stinco: ineccepibile, perfetto. Non riuscirei a descriverlo in altre parole, accompagnato chiaramente da birra locale. Consiglio lo strudel, anch'esso veramente veramente eccellente. Il servizio è veloce. Il menù è abbastanza vario e presenta piatti della tradizione tedesca. I prezzi sono nella media, contando che si è in Baviera e, soprattutto, in Germania. La tip è gradita. Ne vale assolutamente la pena.

Best location and food. When others close at 5pm, they are open and serving. Ticket office is right next to the hotel! Biergarten is great in good weather( which we had on March 3rd). Dress in layers... can be windy. Horse/ cart is 8 èuro and leaves from across the ticket office in Hohenschwangau. Once you are done there, take the bus for 2 èuro back down. Go to Hohenschwangau! Personal tour(not audio)... gives you more info.

I went to the restaurant and one of the waiter was very rude and unhelpful, we are foreigners but in a table next to us, the clients were germans and he was nice to them, I don’t recomend this restaurant, if you are non white people stay away!

Cosy, delicious and friendly service! Was not excited to eat anywhere in such a touristy town, but this cute restaurant exceeded expectations and was really great. Definitely recommend!

Das familiengeführte Hotel liegt in der Mitte von Hohenschwangau, direkt an der Hauptstraße, etwa 100m vom Ticket-Center für die Königsschlösser entfernt. Das Zimmer und das „Commitment“ (Engagement, Freundlichkeit) aller MitarbeiterInnen waren Top, ebenso das im Restaurant angebotene Essen. Das Frühstücksbuffet ließ keine Wünsche offen und war qualitativ hochwertig. Auch hier ist die überaus freundliche und zugewandte Betreuung gesondert erwähnenswert. Besonders herausstreichen möchte ich kurz die Leistung des Housekeepings: Unser Bad war modern, hell gefliest, die Armaturen aus Chrom, Vollglas-Duschkabine. Wer sich etwas auskennt: Eine echte Herausforderung in der Reinigung. Ich komme beruflich aus dem QM und traue mir zu, Ergebnisqualität beurteilen zu können. Und es war nichts, aber auch nicht die kleinste Stelle zu finden, an der man auch nur ansatzweise hätte mäkeln können. Kein einziger Wasserfleck im Bad, keine Staubansammlung in Ecken und an Kanten, auf Tür- oder Bilderrahmen. Ich habe schon häufiger in "großen" und renommierten Hotels übernachtet, aber ein solches Ergebnis findet man äußerst selten, wenn überhaupt.

Wir sind hier spontan vorbeigekommen, nachdem wir beim Schloss Neuschwanstein waren. Wir waren hier nur im Restaurant was essen & haben nicht in dem Hotel übernachtet. Der Service war sehr freundlich, die Karte ist groß und für jeden ist etwas dabei. Das Essen war sehr lecker und wurde sehr schnell serviert. Wir kommen gerne wieder! ☺️

Nettes Hotel in unmittelbarer Nähe zum Schloss Neuschwanstein. Das Personal ist sehr nett.

We ate in the restaurant on the walk down from the castle. The servers were friendly and professional. The food was good quality and reasonably priced given the location. There are high chairs for children and a basic kids menu. The servers gave the kids small spinning tops to play with, which was a nice gesture. We sat in the covered veranda area so it wasn’t too crowded.

Preise-Leistung stimmt hier leider nicht ganz (vermutlich Ortszuschlag der hier einberechnet wird). Unsere Burger kamen nach 2 Minuten, haben auch entsprechend nach nichts geschmeckt, waren nur lauwarm und Käse war nur halb geschmolzen (hatte das Gefühl, als wenn die Burger aufgewärmt oder bereits warm gehalten wurden, was auch die Geschwindigkeit erklären würde). Pommes waren zudem sehr trocken. Essen war geschmacklich nicht der Brüller, dafür wurde preislich aber gut zugelangt. Service war sehr nett, Gaststätte wirkte auch relativ sauber.

Das Essen war ok, aber preislich viel zu teuer und nichts besonderes. Des Weiteren ist das Ambiente wirklich billig. Leider nicht zu empfehlen.

Really delicious pork knuckle and I love the bread dumpling with bean sprouts. My wife got the bread dumpling vegetable soup and it had a ton of flavor. We were in the side room and it was pretty hot in there so just fyi. Def so glad we came here. High recommend.

Very traditional Bavarian restaurant. The seasonal salad was surprisingly fresh and tasty. Cucumbers, carrots, chickpeas, lettuces, tomatoes… great colorful salad. Service was fast and friendly. The decor was typical countryside Bavarian eatery.

Eigentlich ein schönes Restaurant. Die Lage und Fülle an Touristen wird ausgenutzt. Die Preise dementsprechend sehr hoch. Kartoffelpuffer für 16,00 Euro waren TK Ware.. das fanden wir etwas unverschämt..

The food looked great but it was expensive and not fresh. My partner and I ate there yesterday. Within 3 hours, we became unwell and we are still unwell. The waiters and waitresses were nice but the food was really disappointing as it was not fresh.

Klassisches Touri-Lokal, aber trotzdem waren die Speisen echt lecker. Bedienung war angenehm, hätten uns vielleicht 1-2 mal mehr gewünscht, dass wir gefragt werden, ob alles okay ist oder noch Durst vorhanden ist. Aber man kann sich ja melden und alles halb so dramatisch. Das Essen fanden wir klasse und gehörte zum Besuch des Schlosses dazu.

The burger was good but I really can't give higher when the server expressedly starts begging for a tip. I am really unsupportive of adopting this American behavior, prices should be openly shown in the menu!

Restaurante muito bem localizado perto do castelo de Hohenschwangau. A comida é tradicional alemã e estava tudo muito saboroso e bem feito. Os pratos chegaram bem rápido. Tem mesas disponíveis na área interna e externa. O atendimento é bom e simpático.

Prima restaurant. We hebben er heerlijk gegeten. De bediening is snel en korrekt. We hebben een schotel voor twee personen genomen. Veel vlees, maar alles erg smakelijk bereid.
