Cool atmosphere, calamaretti are recommended, great!

Small, cute restaurant with around 25 seats (bar tables with bar stools or benches) + a few covered seats outside. Clear menu plus daily menu. Had pasta with scampi or beef fillet. Both very tasty. With 1-2 people you can be lucky to find a place. It's better to reserve in advance. We were there at lunchtime and it was packed. Many thanks to the girls from the service and the kitchen

Top food in a small, cozy restaurant. Highly recommended.

Massimo is one of my three favorite Italians in Cologne. The food is incredibly delicious and the cuisine is very authentically Italian. The restaurant is in collaboration with Il Bagutta and Tanica, which are my other two favorite Italian restaurants in Cologne. Unfortunately, there isn't much room to sit at Massimo's. Because it is always full there, you definitely have to make a reservation to get a table. It's comfortable because you sit close together, but if you want to be alone it's definitely not the right place. As a couple, it can also happen that you sit at a large table with others. For anyone coming by car, parking will be difficult.

Very tasty food and good service. Cozy and family atmosphere. Not for people with agoraphobia. I think it's great that there are non-alcoholic aperitifs and I especially liked the mixed starter plate! I think the option to choose gluten-free pasta would be perfect. And if there were vegan dessert. But that's complaining at a high level. 😊

The atmosphere is more like a trendy/hip shop where I would stop in with friends for a drink and be positively impressed by the excellent cuisine. It gets very loud quickly. It still has a cozy charm, you have to like it or it has to fit the occasion. Inside there are only bar tables with bar stools or places directly at the bar, where you will probably be seated directly next to/to other guests. There are normal tables in the outdoor area in a casual terrace style, but compared to other locations in the area, I found there was a lack of anything like radiant heaters. Now to the star of the evening, the food. Each main course comes with a small appetizer as standard, all of which were super tasty and of high quality. The carpaccio we ordered with it was also a decent size and very tasty. We all chose pasta with fish/seafood, and every variation was absolutely fantastic. The portions were almost too big, but nobody wanted to leave any of the high-quality food left over. We were once again pleasantly surprised at the price. The quality of the food here speaks for itself and you can almost say that you are getting a snap for what is served there.

Unfriendly/disgraceful service. The tip wasn't enough for her. Bad service. The food is absolutely overrated and overpriced.

The pasta and steak were delicious and the service was also very friendly. We didn't mind that the two of us had to share a table with other guests :) The atmosphere in the team seems to be very good and the Pinot Blanc is highly recommended.

Very tasty 😋 especially the pasta dishes. Only the Polipo was dry and the potatoes were a bit too cooked. Friendly and authentic team. Good wines on tap.

I can't really do anything with the southern city flair... The shop is too small for me, too loud and we were "encouraged" to leave quite unfriendly. The fact that the tables were allocated in two shifts was not mentioned when making the reservation. Food was good but not special either

Service very good, been here twice for lunch so far. Both times I found the food to be below average for an Italian restaurant.

We were able to take advantage of perhaps the last warm day to eat outside again. Luckily we had reserved an hour in advance so we could get a table. The service is extremely friendly and attentive. 🤗 The food came quite quickly and was very tasty. 😋 Since a starter or salad is already included in the main course, I think the prices are reasonable. The only drawback is the toilet in the back yard. But it wasn't as dirty as some comments say. Thank you for the lovely evening

Soooo delicious. Great for sitting outside. Soooo nice service. Best spaghetti aglio olio with prawns. Here in the photo the fat prawns are hidden under the spaghetti, they were big and there were a generous number of them... ☺️🤗😉 The Strozapretti with Salciccia were also mmmh 😋 delicious and the Pasta Communista with vodka and bacon was also a dream. Always a pasta festival!!! Also very kind with the parmesan for the table... oh well: definitely reserve a table!!! And if you go with nice friends who let you try x, you know what you're about to try. It's worth it

I ve been here so many times, and it's always great. Food is simple yet sophisticated, and the atmosphere is cozy yet always busy, Service is very attentive. Today, our waitress was such in a good mood it made our afternoon.

Absolutely worth a visit. After I tried several times to make a reservation by phone, which unfortunately I wasn't able to do, I just spontaneously went there today on my own and tried to get a seat. Unfortunately there was only one place inside, but I thought: it doesn't matter The atmosphere was cozy and the young woman who welcomed me was exceptionally friendly and attentive. The excellent service is particularly noteworthy: the employee mentioned above took a lot of time to advise me on the choice of menu. On her recommendation, I chose the potato salad as a starter and the truffle pasta - both absolutely delicious! She recommended an excellent red wine that went perfectly with the meal. She not only gave advice on food and wine, but even helped me charge my phone when the battery was almost empty and I had to walk home without a navigation system in a city that was relatively unfamiliar to me. Another plus: When I realized I didn't have any cash with me, it wasn't a problem to quickly go to the bank around the corner. All in all, a thoroughly successful evening with excellent food, great wine and first-class service. This restaurant is an absolute recommendation and is located in Cologne's Südstadt.

A nice and cozy Italian restaurant in Cologne's Südstadt. If you're in the mood for pasta, you'll find something suitable here. Every main course comes with a small starter for free. It can get full here quickly, but that doesn't change the service. The dishes are reserved quickly and the service is usually friendly. At peak times you should be patient when paying the bill, as it can get a bit hectic at times. But you only notice this when you sit inside. All in all, a great restaurant with large portions that definitely taste good and fill you up

Después de un encuentro horrible en un restaurante DIFERENTE nos quedamos buscando una reserva de última hora en otro lugar. Nos topamos con Rosticceria Massimo que estaban claramente muy ocupados, cogimos a alguien que se iba y le preguntamos si era bueno y al instante dijo que sí! Entramos y nos encontramos con el maravilloso DAVID. David instantáneamente nos hizo sentir bienvenidos a pesar de que estaban super ocupados que no podría haber sido más servicial. La comida, el vino y el servicio era absolutamente increíble y no pudimos agradecer a David lo suficiente por ser un gran anfitrión. Recomendaría encarecidamente visitar este restaurante ¡Muchas gracias!

Pity. Regular guest never comes back. I reserved a table there at 5 p.m. with my heavily pregnant sister and my 60-year-old mother. Since the train arrived earlier, we got there at 4:53 p.m. and politely asked if we could sit outside under the umbrellas since it was pouring rain. We were thrown out with the words “no, if you're already sitting here, we can't take a proper break.” - “We don't expect service either, we just don't want to wait in the rain.” - “No, that's not possible. We have break." I don't understand how people can misunderstand his job as a waitress like that. Sending pregnant women away in the rain for 7 minutes has little to do with hospitality and gastronomy. We didn't want to order the menu or drinks. Just don't stand in the rain. Of course we decided on another restaurant (of which there are enough in the southern part of the city). I'm from Cologne and have really enjoyed going to Massimo for years. Never again. No amount of cooking in the world can make up for that.

Pizza doesn't taste good at all! No taste, the dough doesn't look like it was homemade, tasted like cardboard, you couldn't actually taste Gorgonzola on the pizza...

The restaurant is beautifully located in Cologne's southern part of the city, even if it does get a bit noisy at times when the cars drive past. The restaurant was full, we sat outside. Nevertheless, our food came on time and hot. It was delicious too :-)

The Massimo has developed from a local insider tip for inexpensive, authentic Italian cuisine with backyard charm to a hyped shop for the anything goes past Corona crowd. Unfortunately, that doesn't do him any good and scares off locals. Since we live around the corner, we followed this development with regret, but after long pauses, in a fit of Veedels sentimentality, we tried again and again. The location has remained in the shabby stall style, but has grown significantly over the years with outdoor dining. The plank and tent scenario put together during Corona has, thank God, long since disappeared, but the quality of the cuisine, the service and the size of the portions are really a matter of luck given the certain crowds. On our last visit, which was spontaneous at 6 p.m. and with the boss's instruction: "You have until 7 p.m." took place, we found this confirmed again after a bad previous experience. The pasta with seafood and cherry tomatoes was un-Italian fatty and strangely flat (Italian sauces need time to develop flavor). Aroma-neutral mini tomatoes - why? With two glasses of wine ordered per person, each costing 8 euros, which were served by different people, the first was 0.2 as ordered and the second was an estimated 0.15, which - who would have thought - equals exactly 0.7. Did you not want to open a new bottle? There used to be a choice between two different starters for each dish, which was also communicated when ordering. This has changed. Today you are served a tomato bruscetta and some potato salad without comment. However, the question arises as to why the bruscetta is included on the menu when ordering. A note on this would have been very helpful when ordering, but you can't expect that from the staff these days. So in one hour we had 4 exactly identical bruscetti (which of course no one can eat), potato salad that was well-intentioned, but not exactly what you would imagine Italian cuisine to be like at the start of a pasta dish, and disappointing pasta at a reasonable price from 25 €. At 7 p.m. sharp, we left the field disillusioned to make room for the pain-free Gin Tonic generation. Gone are the days of simmering sauces for hours and the manners of hosts have become harsher.

The place is quite crammed and also pretty loud and hectic. The food was good but it came on cheap chipped plates. The service was just bad - especially the blonde waiter. They forgot the salad and he was rude when we asked about it. Also, they barely paid attention to us. Don’t have high expectations.

The food was great, everything we ordered was really delicious. You even get a super delicious potato salad and a green salad with your main course for free. The potato salad is particularly delicious. My only criticism was that the carbonara was made with bacon instead of guanciale. Otherwise I have nothing to complain about here. If the carbonara were with guanciale, save 5 stars ⭐️

Fantastic small Italian restaurant! The owner and the waitress were very nice and advised us on dishes that could be made vegan by swapping the type of pastas. The aperols and limocello sprittzer were top 👌🏻 and the mood was perfect for a girls night dinner. The restaurant itself is small and filled with guests so you will most likely sit close to other guests but this just fits the mood of such place. Probably best to call and book since the place was full and people kept coming during the evening 😊 There is also a small sheltered terasse by the entrance. I highly recommend to try their pastas, we had the aspargus pasta, the mushrooms pastas and the artichoke pasta. There is automatic apetizers when you order a main dish, and those were very good too. Highly recommend to try this place! 🤗

A cute little shop with great food and super nice service. It's best to reserve a table in advance, as there is rarely anything available spontaneously. There was a small greeting from the kitchen beforehand. The pizza was delicious, but I've personally eaten better. But the pasta was an absolute dream! 10 out of 10! You have to know that the shop is really very small and it is therefore cramped and loud. However, we really liked it because it made the room look lively and cozy.

So das Essen ist sehr lecker Was ich nicht verstehe man kriegt immer ein Stück bruschetta aber es wird glaube ich nach Wahl geschickt es ist beschämend wenn man mit der Familie sitzt und die Kinder das mitkriegen bin jetzt mehrmals da gewesen Der calamaretti Salat ändert sich wie das Wetter mal sind im Salat Oliven mal nicht mal auch getrocknete Tomaten Bin deswegen enttäuscht und die Kellner sind auch sehr nett aber machen ihren Job nach Wahl der Kunde ich sehe das ao Kunde ist Kunde am Ende Zahl ich genauso wie die anderen

Best pasta around. I recommend Pasta alla Mamma and Spaghetti Carbonara. The service is also good. We are regulars at the lunch table. Once a little something was wrong, the chef came personally to apologize and compensate. For the pasta dishes, a starter is included in the price.

The food was very tasty and the service was very friendly :) which I think is a shame that you have to leave the table after 1 1/2 hours. It's a bit stressful and you can't really call it a pleasant evening. We would have liked to order dessert but unfortunately we didn't have enough time.

Was here with my mother today and had seafood pasta and pizza. The taste was deliciously aromatic and the quantity was enormous. There was no skimping on the seafood (compared to all the other restaurants I know)! THERE WERE A LOT OF LARGE PIECES OF SEAFOOD!!! SIMPLY GREAT! Unfortunately, I had to leave urgently and took the rest with me and it tasted so good when I got home that I thought I would write a review!

Unfortunately the quality of the food doesn't justify the price. The pasta (veg) is ok, but nothing that you can't make at home in 5 minutes. The tapas plate... there was potato salad (!) on it where the potatoes were cooked differently, the vegetables were tasteless, as was the mozzarella. The desserts database, although clearly not made locally, seemed almost industrial, which is never a good thing with tiramisu. I'm sorry but I don't understand the horrendous prices for food that every Lieferando Italian can do just like that :(

Zero hygiene and no cleanliness! I was there for the fifth time and always thought that the shop was reliable because it is always so busy, even though it is so uncomfortable and cramped. Still, that probably doesn't mean anything these days. There aren't even proper chairs, just high chairs. Today I sat down at a table opposite the kitchen just to observe how clean it is. I ordered Neri Al Salmone. There wasn't much to see of the kitchen, but all it took was one mistake by one of the employees. He had a full beard (very suitable for a kitchen job) and a bald head. When the noodles were cooked, he took them out with tongs and touched them with his fingers to check whether they were done!!!!!!! Afterwards he touched his face and beard!!!! Who knows if he did that before touching the pasta or how often he does it in the kitchen!!!I'll never go there again. Sadly, I think that very few people will be interested in this, as we as a people in Germany have very low hygiene standards and most people don't care about this sort of thing. But I still feel disgusted an hour later when I keep thinking about it. Even better; no card payment and no WiFi.

Came here by recommendation of a local and I was definitely not disappointed. The handmade pasta is delicious and made by the restaurant. The dishes are traditional and the restaurant is cozy. Be sure to make a booking before if it’s for dinner on a weekend. And even then, be ready to share table with others. My only not so positive comment is that they do not take phone calls during dinner time (totally understandable) but the telephone kept ringing every 5 minutes and we were sitting next to it

Reservation was not entered they wanted to sit us next to (in the "restaurant") bottle boxes. The worst part is actually the ambience. I had imagined it completely differently. You sit skin to skin in what feels like a storage room.

Klein, gemütlich und eine überragende Küche komme immer gerne zum Lunch. Die Karte ist übersichtlich alles ist frisch und Mann kann keine schlechte Wahl treffen! Einer der besten Italiener.

Gemütlicher Ort mit trubeligem italienischem Flair. Leckeres Essen und eine gute Auswahl an Bier und Wein. Das Service Personal ist super sympathisch!

Irgendetwas war nicht ganz sauber, sagte mein Darm am nächsten Tag! Meine Augen sagten, das passte aber wunderbar zu der primitiven Toilette.

Ich gehe seit ca. 8 Jahren zu Massimo. Grundsätzlich ist die Qualität solide aber auch etwas wechselhaft. Am Freitag 18.06.2021 habe ich zwei Nudelgerichte für mich und meine beiden Kinder (5 und 8) zum Mitnehmen bestellt. Ich hatte an diesem Tag leider keine Zeit selber etwas zu Kochen, weil ich zu lange im Homeoffice war. :-( Das Foto zeigt nun beide Gerichte NACH dem Essen. Liebe Leute bei Massimo, jeder kann mal einen schlechten Tag erwischen, aber es muss trotzdem essbar bleiben! Der alte Massimo, Gott hab‘ Ihn Seelig, würde sich im Grabe umdrehen. Ich habe in der langen Zeit des Lockdowns regelmäßig etwas bei euch bestellt. Betrachtet meine dafür gezahlten 20 Euro als „Anschubfinanzierung“, denn eine Gegenleistung gab es heute nicht, sie wäre noch nicht mal einen halben Stern wert. Ich werde euer Lokal für eine lange Zeit meiden.

Das Essen hier war wirklich sehr lecker. Allerdings hatten wir einen Tisch reserviert und da uns am Telefon nichts anderes gesagt wurde, gingen wir davon aus, dass sich der Tisch drinnen befindet. Leider hatten wir schlechtes Wetter an diesem Tag und wir mussten trotz Reservierung draußen sitzen. Der Service war in Ordnung, das Restaurant an sich ist sehr klein und daher auch sehr eng.

Fantastisches Essen, wir kommen immer wieder gerne hierher. Die Trüffelpasta und die Ravioli mit Walnüssen sind nicht zu überbieten, die kostenlosen Starter sind auch immer sehr lecker. Der Service ist top und das Ambiente sehr schön, vor allem im Außenbereich im Sommer. Lieben den Laden, klare Empfehlung!

Wir kamen an und bekamen spontan einen Platz (es war nicht viel los), mit der Bemerkung, dass wir nur eine Dreiviertelstunde bleiben dürften, weil dann alles und jeder Tisch reserviert sei. Haben also zügig gegessen, bezahlt (nur Barzahlung möglich) und sind spazieren gegangen. Auf dem Rückweg sind wir nochmal bei Massimo vorbei gegangen und es war nach wie vor fast alles frei. Schade, dass man uns so schnell los werden wollte.. vermutlich mit dem Hintergedanken, mit neuen Kund:innen weiteres Geld zu machen. Hätten sicherlich noch etwas nachbestellt, aber das war ja leider nicht möglich. Das Essen war aber dennoch sehr lecker.

Haben vermutlich keinen guten Tag erwischt, da wir eigentlich viel gutes über das Restaurant gehört haben… Vorspeise Salat war total sandig (eine der auf der Karte angebotenen Vorspeise gibt es erst ab Winter, dann sollte man die nicht auf der Karte zeigen?), Hauptspeise Nudeln mit Salbei Butter waren lecker, aber nichts besonderes. Nudeln mit Champignons und Trüffel Sauce waren sehr lecker. Service war leider auch nur okay. Die anderen Restaurants der Kette kann ich eher empfehlen…

Es kann nur in bar bezahlt werden. Das hinterlässt leider einen etwas unseriösen Eindruck. Vor allem wenn selbst die Angestellten das mit einem Augenzwinkern begründen.

Gemütlicher Italiener mitten in der Südstadt. Traditionelle italienische Küche in familiärer Atmosphäre mit nettem und aufmerksamen Service. Die Pasta Gerichte und der Vorspeisenteller sind wirklich empfehlenswert. Das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis passt mE sehr gut. Man sitzt im Innenbereich an einem großen Tisch mit anderen Gästen zusammen, was definitiv unterhaltsam ist. Wer Ruhe sucht, ist hier nicht richtig. Ich komme gerne wieder!

Ich finde es nicht zeitgemäß, dass eine Kartenzahlung in so einem Restaurant im Jahr 2023 nicht möglich ist. Finde ich wirklich schade, da das Essen und Ambiente soweit gut sind. Werde aber nicht mehr kommen.

You always get an apetizer for free for each dish. Pasta was cooked immaculate al dente! Seafood was quite fresh as well. The place is a bit tight though. Pricing is decent

Die Trüffelpasta war maximal mittelmäßig,relativ geschmacklos und in Öl ertränkt. Keine wirkliche Creme oder Sauce. Das panzanella vorweg hingegen war lecker. Hinzukommt, dass die weibliche Bedienung ziemlich unfreundlich war und auf mich sehr arrogant und überheblich wirkte.

Vollkommen überhyped! Das Essen ist in Ordnung, aber definitiv nicht hevorstechend. Das Lokal ist winzig und die Sitzmöglichkeiten begrenzt. Wie hier schon oft zu lesen ist, ist der Komfort bei einer Reservierung auch nicht gerade ein größerer, als auf gut Glück einfach vorbei zu kommen.

VORSICHT! Unfreundliches Personal. Trotz Reservierung wollte man uns an einen anderen Tisch setzen mit 4 weiteren Personen. Die Tische sind so eng, dass man nicht einmal normal sitzen kann. Uns wurde gesagt dass es dort normal ist und man auf Reservierungen keine Rücksicht nehmen kann. Der ganze Laden hat mehr Imbiss Charakter als Restaurant. Nicht geeignet wenn man wirklich essen gehen will. Evtl. eine Option wenn man Essen To-Go haben will. Personal sollte ganz dringend getauscht werden. Der männliche Kellner war mit Abstand der Schlimmste. Wir gehen sehr oft essen und ich wurde noch nie so nachhaltig von einem “Restaurant” enttäuscht.

Wir hatten einen Tisch reserviert und mussten leider auf dem Tisch warten, weil er noch nicht frei war. Dann haben wir 1,5 Stunden auf das Essen gewartet weil der Kellner unsere Bestellung verloren hat :( Da hätte ich mir als Wiedergutmachung eigentlich einen Gruß aus der Küche vorgestellt... Service leider nicht so toll - Getränke wurden unter dem Arm an den Tisch gebracht. Beim bezahlen wurde dann gefragt, ob er jetzt wirklich alles auseinander rechnen soll. Find ich leider nicht okay. Wenn man schon keine Kartenzahlung anbietet dann sollte man wenigstens die Rechnung splitten können. Leider wurde auch auf meinen Geburtstag nicht eingegangen. Das Essen war aber extrem lecker :)

Trotz Reservierung keinen Platz bekommen (nur mit Wartezeit von 30min)! Wir haben einen Tisch reserviert für unsere Familie (mit Baby 9Mo.) uns wurde nicht am Telefon mitgeteilt das es keinen Hochstuhl gibt und wir sollten bei verregneten kalten Wetter wenn möglich draußen sitzen.. hätte gerne das Lokal getestet, aber wurden maßlos enttäuscht.

Man wird (trotz Reservierung) sehr eng zusammen mit fremden Leuten an einen Tisch gesetzt und vom Personal wird einem auch kein Verständnis dafür entgegen gebracht, dass man dies nicht möchte.

Wir waren gestern dort essen und es war ein Gedicht. Ein sehr kleines aber total gemütliches Restaurant. Die Angestellten war total freundlich immer für ein kleinen Spaß zuhaben und flott obwohl der Laden voll war. Das Essen war einsame Spitze die Pasta dort ist ein Traum. 14,50€ für eine weiße Bolognese mit einer Vorspeise ( Panzanella) ist in dieser Qualität unschlagbar. Wir waren definitiv nicht das letzte mal dort.

Alles bestens. Essen, Getränke, Service, Ambiente. Die Toiletten könnten etwas sauberer gehalten werden, damit man sie auch ohne Gummistiefel benutzen kann.
