Unfortunately, the food wasn't really good. Spring rolls had a strange taste and the peanut sauce was not edible.

The worst restaurant to eat in all of Freiburg. We entered and, after eating, we were brought the bill and told that we could only pay in cash. The owner commented that it was too late for him to be able to make us pay with the card, that he didn't have a working POS and other phrases of incomplete sense. Upon the third refusal to pay with the POS, he decided to call the police, who intervened and decided to carry out further checks on the place in question. In all this, the food was also of poor quality and of little importance. Furthermore, it was terribly cold inside the room

Specialty: Chicken in a sesame coating. I would have liked more chicken in the coat. The price was therefore too expensive in relation to the plated meal.

I've been eating there for years and overall I like it. However, I'm a little shocked that in a restaurant where you can only pay in cash and the quality has gone down a bit, the prices have gone up enormously... While the prices are still affordable, they're honestly not appropriate for this one Restaurant... the same food always tasted significantly different, which is a shame.

The service from the owner was very poor, the tables felt dirty and sticky, and the food in this restaurant also tasted mediocre.

A typical Asian take away. The food was good. This is where my positive impression ends. What a dirty shop. Crazy. We ate there. And I mean it. It looked really dirty/dingy that evening. So for me it remains a one-off event.

The food was ok, the owner, Rose(?), was already complaining on the phone when we entered the restaurant. It went on like that for another 15 minutes. In addition, Rose apparently had a very cold, which further affected the atmosphere. Google brought us here, but we wouldn't come back from downtown because the service was so unfriendly.

The price-performance ratio is not right. Two spring rolls cost €5, main courses are small portions. The sweet and sour sauce doesn't taste good. At least it was quick.

The food is really tasty, but some of the staff are really unfriendly, especially the owner. But the food is so good that I still put up with the unfriendly behavior. Absolute recommendation!

It's delicious here. This is where the positive aspects end. Payment is only made in cash. It's not mentioned anywhere: not on the menu, anywhere or on a sign. It turned out that I didn't have any cash with me and for technical reasons I couldn't withdraw money from my card. I explained the situation to the landlady. I suggested possible solutions and pointed out that I lived far away and had to drive more than 500 km. Unfortunately, I found no understanding whatsoever and ended up feeling like a thief. I had to make another trip to get the money back for the security of my documents. The funny thing is that small coins are not accepted here either, so make sure you have larger coins. All I'm saying is that sometimes it's probably worth putting yourself in a customer's shoes and finding a more mutually beneficial solution.

The good woman has been keeping this “gem” alive for 24 years. The food is always great, you're in good hands and it's a great timeout.

The quality of the food varies; sometimes you get the shredded chicken and not the fillet. But the main reason why we avoid visiting is the boss! She moves you to another table in the completely empty shop even though you are already sitting and when you leave the shop is still empty. She sits in her corner and watches something on the TV at a high volume. If you leave and say goodbye, no sound comes back... nothing, but it's always nice to collect the tip. I'll never go to that dirty place again! I was there at least 3 times a week, it was done, just because of the boss!

Finally being there again after a long time, it wasn't great, the whole garden was full of flies.

Wanted to eat there with a dog on a rainy day. Entry was refused for hygiene reasons. (There were only 2 guests at a single table and our dog is a small family dog). Unfortunately we relied on the website, which is probably not correct. We were offered a place outside, but it was wet and cold (no seat cushions). We then went somewhere else where there was no problem at all with dogs.

The Rose is simply a special restaurant. The food is really absolutely delicious. The Lao curry and the duck salad are so incredibly good that I sometimes dream about them, and if you take the owner's legendary service with humor, you'll always have a fun time there. I just think it's amazing that the rose exists, exactly as it is.

Some places have just something special. In this case a special host which makes the nice and tasty food even better.

If you want to eat Asian (or Laotian) the insider tip in Freiburg! The food tastes really wonderful, the owner is super friendly and professional, the food is prepared quickly and the rooms have their own charm. When I have visitors, part of the Freiburg tour is usually lunch at the Rose. I've known the store for over 10 years and everything is still the same as it was back then, great! 🎉

Often very good food. Unfortunately, the last 3 times I always forgot the chili and ginger even though it is listed at 49. Again today and completely unseasoned. Plus very unfriendly staff with meaningless conversations. Then only get half as usual. Unfortunately very disappointing. I'll let it come here for now, maybe test it again at some point to see if it's back to its old quality.

Unfortunately, we have to agree with the negative reviews: Although the restaurant was completely empty and there were no reservation signs, we were chased away by the unfriendly owner and were told to sit at a narrow table next to the open door where cold air came in. We then left without eating.

Today I wanted to sit down, drink some tea, wait for a friend and then eat. The employee was extremely unfriendly. If I just want something to drink, I should go to another restaurant. Then she directed me to a table so harshly that I lost interest. Now I'm sitting one street further in Lebenmann, very friendly and not a sulky employee who makes you feel like you're bothering her with your presence. The proximity to the prison seems to determine the tone.

The food tastes good and the ambience is wonderful if you like small snack restaurants. As far as the service is concerned, here you can apparently be lucky or unlucky, we were unlucky: while I was eating, other people's trays were constantly placed on my table without comment, I had to move around during the meal because the chair was in the wrong place, another drink We weren't allowed to order, instead we were cashed in, my beer, which was still full, was taken away straight away and €10 in change was missing. A pity. I think it's okay if this customer experience is part of it and has something rustic about it, but overall I found it so that I won't be coming back.

The food was very good value for money, you just have to like the ambience. The service wasn't my thing, but if you just go there for the food and that's not that important to you, then the place is good :)

Essen ging zwar schnell war aber nicht besonders. Location riecht unangenehm. Ich hatte eine Karte auf dem Tisch liegen, wo alles 5€ billiger war, wurde dann bei der Zahlung überrascht. So ne Verarsche. Englischsprachige Karte ist ja super, dann sollte man aber auch die preise anpassen. Rückgeld waren auch erstmal 5 Euro zu wenig rausgegeben...

Kultiges Restaurant. Das Ambiente ist rustikal, aber das Essen günstig, reichlich und wirklich hervorragend. Freundliche Bedienung! Eines der leckersten asisatischen Restaurants überhaupt.

Das laotische Essen hier ist definitiv außergewöhnlich und die Qualität höher als in den meisten laotischen oder thailändischen Restaurants dieser Klasse. Was es wirklich bemerkenswert macht ist aber die Inhaberin und Küchenchefin. Madame Rose, wie man sagt, ist von außergewöhnlichem Temperament und kann durchaus auch mal eine Bestellung verwechseln. Hier ist trotzdem garantiert, dass man dann etwas mindestens genauso Leckeres auf dem Teller hat. Wer gut mit ihr auskommt, der erhält auch mal ein Gericht das länger nicht mehr auf der Speisekarte stand oder eine besondere Empfehlung aus ihrer Heimatküche. Wer hier isst, muss ein wenig Chaos ertragen können. Dafür wird der Gaumen auf besondere und absolut nicht durchschnittliche Art verwöhnt.

Ein laotisches spezielles Restaurant und eine Institution seit vielen Jahren in Freiburg. Nur das Ambiente und der Gastraum könnten mal ein Makeover vertragen. Es ist aber immer super lecker. War seit vielen Jahren mal wieder hier. Look ist gleich und Essen immer noch lecker 😋

Lokal in Streetfood-Stil, innen spartanisch eingerichtet, mir gefällt es. Außen schöner Garten. Mein Lao Curry war schmackhaft, frisch, mit viel Gemüse und hatte interessante Geschmäcker. Reichliche Portion. Mein Wunsch nach Schärfe wurde umgesetzt. Das Besteck hat Wasserflecken, was mich aber nicht störte. Mit 10 Euro günstig. Toiletten in Ordnung und voll ausgestattet. Das meiste Personal ist freundlich, die Besitzerin ist unverschämt. Geht vorbei und macht euch euer Bild.

Unscheinbares, kleines Restaurant mit schnuckligen Aussenbereich. Kein schicki micki, der Fokus liegt auf dem Essen, es fühlt sich fast an wie in Asien im Streetfood Imbiss. Herzliche Betreiberin, tolle Auswahl und sehr, sehr lecker.

Menu 33 mit Rindfleisch war mega lecker mit Zitronengrass und mild Erdnuss Geschmack. Geschmack explosion!! Minze Tee war von echte Minze Blätter

Die Tische waren leider schmutzig und na ja ich will nicht so viel sagen

Wir hatten das Restaurant eigentlich in guter Erinnerung, dich diesmal war echt sehr enttäuschend! Zunächst saßen wir draußen wo es ununterbrochen Blattläuse regnete. Der Tisch sah dementsprechend aus… Die leeren Getränke wurden nicht abgeräumt. Ich hatte ein den Papyasalat mit Garnelen. Es befanden sich lediglich zwei Stück drauf. Das ist eine Frechheit bei einem Preis von 14€. Zudem war er höllisch scharf, worauf man auch hätte hinweisen können. Auch befindet sich nirgends ein Hinweis darauf, dass nur Barzahlung möglich ist, was dazu führt, dass Leute nach dem Essen zur Bank fahren mussten. Als Vorspeise gab‘s frittierte Noriblätter - 4 kleine Fetzen für 4€! Den zweiten Stern gibt‘s nur, weil das Essen wirklich lecker war.

Das Essen war ganz gut und die Preise waren fair, da kann man nicht meckern. Allerdings war das Ambiente im Gastraum (freundlich gesagt) nicht sehr einladend. Die Gläser könnten auch mal getauscht werden.....

Hmpf... die "Rose" war richtig lange mein absoluter Favorit in FR, mit all ihren Eigenheiten, die sicher kein Mainstream-Lokal ausmachen, die ich, wie so viele, aber einfach total liebgewonnen hatte: die Atmosphäre, die Lage, das spezielle Interieur, das Team, v.a. aber köstlichstes Essen und irgendwie Backpacker-Urlaubsfeeling. Seit vor drei Jahren nur "to go" möglich war, haben sich meine Erfahrungen geändert: das Essen zum Mitnehmen schmeckt seither oft nicht wie "zubereitet" sondern wie selbst zusammen geschmissen, und mehr als ein Mal wurden andere Gerichte mitgegeben, als bestellt. Meine vorerst letzte Mitnehm-Erfahrung war, dass trotz Bestellung zweier komplett unterschiedlicher Gerichte, beide in der gleichen Sauce schwammen (s.o.), die eine undefinierbare Mischung aus beiden Bestellungen zu sein schien. Vielleicht sollte ich es nochmal vor Ort versuchen, da mag es sich hoffentlich anders darstellen. Mir ist die Lust darauf allerdings erstmal vergangen.
