Rohrkopfhütte - Die Berghütte in Schwangau in Schwangau

We were just unlucky with the excessively long waiting times on a beautiful sunny day...the staff did their best, but there were far too few staff available. We were there for dinner after lunchtime.

Great ambience and a very nice terrace where you can enjoy delicious food and drinks in the sunshine. Even if the terrace is completely full, you don't have to wait too long for your order. The entire team clearly enjoys their work and is very friendly. You like to stay there longer.

We went hiking at Tegelberg and were happy to have found a good opportunity to grab a bite to eat. But it turned out that you can only sit outside, in the blazing sun. If you could... All the seats were already taken. You are not allowed to sit inside. The staff had told me, quote: "Well, you don't do anything inside.". By the way, the brass music didn't even make it bearable for me to sit in the shade of the hut. I will avoid this restaurant in the future as the "bullying head hut" in mind.

The hut is very nicely located. Unfortunately, that was it. We were there on November 1st. Here we climbed up from the valley in fantastic weather. All hell broke loose outside and there was no space. That's why we went in. After 10 minutes the neighboring table took pity on asking and replied that there was no service inside so we had to look for something outside. It's not a fact that there are 100 tables inside, there are maybe 5 and there are also dishes at one stand. I have never experienced such poor service at a mountain hut. It would have been an option to order at the bar, but obviously there are enough people coming. We are then left without ski water for the children or the isotonic cold drink we had hoped for. Very disappointing.

Very nice boss, I was hiking with my son yesterday and got an ice cream from the boss. Since he only had 2 to choose from, the ice cream was given to us as a gift, my son and I were thrilled. That's why we thank you with a good review :)

Super friendly staff with a great view

We were there for the fifth time last weekend... unfortunately the service and the quality of the service runs like a common thread through the season.. It was busy this time, yes.. but after we asked the fourth waitress to take the order and then heard again that she wasn't responsible, we left again after 29 minutes of waiting.. a shame because it wasn't the first time this year the service is bad.. it only worked for a while when there was nothing going on.. Tip: 1-2 people take the drinks, 1 person serves the food and the others...then you wouldn't hear constantly, I'm not responsible...just one Suggestion from me... The location and prices are good, the food looks good too.. At the moment I have to say you can't even begin to get to the other hut in the immediate vicinity... That's my opinion. I'd be happy if things got better again

I've been coming to Rohrkopf for around 20 years and I have to say that the food really gets me! You don't find something like that often.

Nice service despite a full house

What has been forgotten here is what a hut in the mountains is all about. My children 7 & 9 and I dared to climb to the top of the Tegelberg today and on the descent everyone was looking forward to a break in the Rohrkopfhütte. As usual, the terrace was crowded with tourists. Everything was empty inside and when you asked for drinks/food you were put off. If you don't have a seat outside, you won't be served, inside (everything is empty) you won't get anything. All right, it's a disgrace on the part of the host if they don't even let children drink anything. We then left without any entertainment, sad. The point of a hut in the mountains is clearly missed.

Great hike with a view of the Forggensee, Bannwaldsee, the royal castles to the Rohrkopfhütte. Super friendly host. Very tasty dishes. Kaiserschmarrn, Vesperplatte and Käsespätzle are definitely recommended. The other guests' meals all looked very tasty too.

It was breathtaking, especially getting up to the top, it only took 1 1/4 hours, but then being rewarded at the Rohrhütte and enjoying the view was simply fantastic and feeling the warmth. I can't rate the room because we continued up We hiked to the viewing platform and achieved what was such an inner satisfaction and you have to experience the view for yourself.

We didn't stay the night here, only stopped for snacks and drinks on our way up the mountain. What delicious food and friendly service to go with the exquisite view! They could easily rely on the view and serve terrible food, but everything was amazing.

Friendly service, great service and a waiter who enjoys his work. The vegan food was very good. Thank you for offering such alternatives. It didn't take much time between ordering and serving the food, considering the hut was full. In our opinion, highly recommended.

Great place to stop for a break on a hike up the Tegelberg. From the sun terrace you have a wonderful view of the beautiful landscape. The food was very tasty, the service was very friendly and attentive. We'd love to come back.

Thanks for nothing! When we arrived today, the nice boss of the house was sitting at the counter looking completely bored. When we asked if we could sit inside because everything outside was full of wasps, he was already completely pissed! And directed us outside into the shade; there are no wasps there either (according to him). Well that said, we waited outside for over 23 minutes for service, unfortunately the girls didn't have time for us as they were having fun chatting outside the door. They looked at us often but the conversation was certainly more important. After waiting 23 minutes, we left without eating or drinking and didn't say goodbye because we didn't want to disturb the staff.

The strenuous climb was worth it. Great ambience and the terrace is simply magnificent. Unfortunately we had fog and couldn't enjoy the wonderful view. But we enjoyed the break in the Rohrkopfhütte with coffee and a large piece of cake. Prices moderate, we found it OK and would come back.

Really good food, options for vegan as well with a lovely lentil stew and potato soup, the pancakes in the picture were also really good. Best food I've had in germany so far...

The Rohrkopfhütte is always worth a trip. There are several advancement options, e.g. B. via the Drehhütte or the Guardian Angel Trail. The staff is very friendly, the food is very good and sufficient, we are always at the top. Until next time 😉

I was eating fondue at the Rohrkopfhütte in winter 2023. Since I have celiac disease, I have to eat strictly gluten-free. I clarified everything over the phone in advance and was also able to clarify the last questions with the service staff at the hut. So I was allowed to eat both the cheese and broth fondue. The side dishes included meat, vegetables, fruit, ham and various dips. As a starter there were various spreads with a salad garnish. I brought my own bread because my request was at very short notice. For dessert there was a baked apple with vanilla sauce. 🤤 The price is a bit high, especially because drinks come on top. All in all, it was a very successful evening with lots of good food and super friendly staff. You'll be happy to come back here! A huge THANK YOU goes to Basti and Oli! 🙏🏼❤️

Very rarely have you been so disappointed for so much money. So first of all, I was there with locals who were more disappointed than ever before. The food was really incredibly bad. The pretzel was anything but not fresh. Same with the bread. Every other food has no taste and the prices are just not right at all. Added to this are the waitresses, so sorry there was nothing going on and under stress I would have understood everything. But one makes a face, looks like she hasn't slept in 6 days and immediately forgets to give up one of three dishes and the other says "everyone here does what they can and I can only clear away glasses..." I have no idea if that's something like that in a restaurant heard. If you call something like that high-quality cuisine...it was definitely a shame.

What Mr. Moser unleashes is simply Mimimimimi. The hut is great, the service, as soon as the order is in the kitchen it's at the table, super fast. Very friendly. And Mr. Moser, whoever doesn't come at the right time has to take what's left. There must have been a reason why the “VIP row” was closed.

Nice hike and from the valley you have several options for climbing. It's quite a climb there, but the rest in the hut is worth it. We weren't hungry so we only had drinks that were within the normal price range. Food also looked delicious and next time we will have something here too. View is very nice

A very nice hut. I can only agree with the best reviews. Service very friendly and on the ball. Food & drink was delicious. Beautiful view. It's just a shame that this hut isn't directly on the mountain. It's a short walk down. It's definitely worth it. The huts on the mountain can learn a lot from the Rohrkopfhütte about how to do it right!!!!

When the weather was beautiful, the best places (those at the very front with a wonderful view of Neuschwanstein Castle) were closed; instead, we were allowed to fight with the other hikers over the few places that were still usable. It's like a host who proudly shows you his exclusive wine cellar and then gives his guests the worst bottles to drink. We will not hike to the Rohrkopfhütte again.

The hut is great. The location is fantastic and the food was very good. We hiked to the hut from Schongau. Very nice hike. 2.5 hours Unfortunately, the only thing missing was the possibility of briefly accessing the Internet.

A beautiful hut, great ambience, good and friendly staff. The food is also OK. The prices have increased slightly but are still within reasonable limits. Unfortunately there are no schnitzels and no public WiFi there. These are actually always things that you should find. At least that's how it is common in Austria.

A great hut and invites you to take a break after descending the Guardian Angel Trail. It was mystical that day, an adventure 😊 Toilets very clean and the great sayings hanging on the walls were so great 🥰 the Kaiserschmarren was a treat for the palate 🥰 heavenly divine. Super nice service, I felt very comfortable on the terrace and wrapped myself up in a blanket because it was quite cool the day, they are everywhere on the seats. 😅 great views even as I continued down deeper. I'm looking forward to my next visit with you. 🥰

Friendly and fast service, large terrace with different seating options. The toilets are modern and clean, the prices are reasonable. The food is very good. The only drawback: The view of Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau is slowly becoming overgrown with trees. Conclusion: worth a visit at any time!

Hello, today the four of us wanted to enjoy the really beautiful view from the terrace with a Kaiserschmarrn and a cool Radler...but unfortunately we failed because of a very stately, bearded usher with stylish cow-spot slippers. We arrived around 3 p.m. and were apparently the only guests. The terrace was completely empty and we unerringly headed for the empty tables with the best panorama. But we had done the math without the motivated usher who was carefully watching what was happening from the sidelines. As we were about to sit down, we were directed to the row of tables directly at the house with the worst view. A bit surprised, we briefly asked why...it was explained to us that it could rain and then we would get wet. It was actually cloudy at this point, but it was still dry and it stayed dry afterwards and moving around when it rained was apparently not an option for our usher when the terrace was empty. Well, we were all quite overwhelmed with such care and the thought arose as to how we had been able to survive the last few decades without being saved from the threatening nasty rain by caring people. Or perhaps the idea of ​​rescue was also directed at the waitress or perhaps no one was prepared for four hungry and thirsty hikers during opening hours. Well, we left again and next time we'll look for a hut with free choice of space on an empty terrace.

Wow, other huts can learn a lesson here. Service and food is amazing. The staff is super friendly and you feel really comfortable there. Great selection of different specialties and the prices are completely reasonable for a hut. The hut is really super cozy and we are already looking forward to our next visit there. First of all: Normally I rarely give five stars because the common German always has something to complain about. But the hut deserves it here, not least because of the extremely friendly and, above all, direct colleague with the Santa Claus socks who took our orders and collected them. The hut is in a great location and is probably a great spot even in winter when skiing is taking place. We ourselves hiked up from the hiking car park. Of course it was completely full on Pentecost and the weather was great, but all the wait staff were super friendly and apologized if it took longer, which wouldn't have been necessary for us. We had two small children (2 and 4) in our group who also really enjoyed it; The food itself was good and the prices were absolutely reasonable for a hut. The sanitary facilities were absolutely clean, well maintained and although there was a lot going on on the sun deck, everything downstairs was free and in top condition. I wish you continued good sales and stress-free customers and a great 2024 season!
