Good burgers and a nice view. I find the prices a bit high...

The rooms were truly something else. Of course, I can only review the Jim Beam Log Cabin, which we stayed in for the duration of our stay. One thing to note is that the bathroom door is ONLY a saloon door that doesn't completely fill the door frame! The wooden tub is also difficult to use for showering, as half the room and the bed would get wet. BUT: that makes the room's theme very authentic! I only gave the location three stars because it's really loud there, right next to the traffic lights and with the commotion from the parking lot... sleeping with the window open is impossible. However, I didn't expect anything less from a motel, and with the window closed, it was quiet. We booked the small breakfast, and that was perfectly fine: self-service in a small room with the essentials. A tip: make a reservation for breakfast at the restaurant well in advance—it's very popular, though. Speaking of the Road Stop restaurant: We ate there both evenings of our stay in Dortmund after enjoying the first one so much. Delicious, and it's probably already been covered in detail in other reviews, especially since we met people who had traveled an hour to get there. But what I want to emphasize was the staff: the place, with its stylish ambiance, was packed both evenings, and the waitresses were all in a really good mood! Where does one find something like that? It was simply very pleasant! High praise!

I've been going there for years and was unfortunately very disappointed by my visit yesterday. The waitress (a somewhat overweight lady wearing see-through leggings :) ) was unfriendly and seemed annoyed when we politely asked for a menu. Even questions about the food were answered only briefly and in a visibly annoyed tone. This made us feel unwelcome. It's a shame, because the food was okay—but with service like that, we probably won't be coming back.

We were there with four people. The service was super friendly and professional. They worked outside super quickly and with a smile! Great👍. The tables were clean and the outside area was well-stocked. There were several burgers and finger food. Salad rounded out the meal. We were extremely satisfied and everyone enjoyed it. So why only 3 stars? The men's restroom is a disgrace; everything stinks of urine, and they try to cover it up with scented pads. A broken socket, no hot water, and everything wet next to the hand dryer! What a shame, considering my parents always used to say (Go to the bathroom first in a restaurant).

Went to the Road Stop Dortmund yesterday – it was packed, but the service was on top of everything, really relaxed and friendly 😎. The smash burgers? As always, incredibly delicious, juicy, and just cooked to perfection 🍔👌. Drinks came quickly, even though it was really busy. Sitting outside with the beautiful view of the valley is simply wonderful. The atmosphere is totally relaxed, you immediately feel at home. We're already looking forward to the next time – everything is just perfect here!

The food was so good. Typical American style. Plus, when the weather's nice, it's a perfect place to sit outside and enjoy the view of the forest below Hohensyburg Castle.

Our first visit was worth it. A beautiful location with a relaxed atmosphere. Table service, and even the little ones are catered for with books, coloring books, and crayons.

Beautiful terrace with a view, friendly and attentive service, and the Waikiki Sea Bowl is highly recommended (€19.90) – the price is just about right, as it's delicious and well-stocked with shrimp and pieces of salmon. Unfortunately, the extra bread was extortionate – €1 per mini slice of white bread. That's not necessary!

I can't comment on the room, but the food (burgers) was cold. And you had to wait a bit for a drink to be served. The ambiance inside and out is very nice.

Motel with a good restaurant for steak

The menu sounds delicious, and the food we ordered was okay. Unfortunately, the fries didn't arrive until after we reminded the waitress once, and we were finished with our burgers. The prices for the food were simply too high for the service.

Rustic and spacious restaurant. The food is delicious and plentiful. The prices are absolutely reasonable. Reservations are recommended, especially for late afternoon/early evening. There is good parking on site.

On the way to the Hohensynburg Open Air Theater, we stopped at the Dortmund Roadstop this time. We each ordered a vegan burger and fries, along with a drink. The service was friendly, and the food was served relatively quickly and we enjoyed it quite a bit. The restrooms were also okay; I've seen better places like this before... There are definitely differences in quality between the locations; so far, I've liked Wuppertal and Dortmund. We didn't use the hotel, though. We found a parking space there right away.

We were there with a group of ten people to celebrate a birthday. Unfortunately, the staff repeatedly warned us that we were too loud – even though we felt we were perfectly within reason. It's not easy, of course, to speak in whispers with so many people, especially at a party. What particularly irritated us: The tone was quite unfriendly every time, and the waiter threatened us with a stern look, saying we would otherwise have to leave the restaurant. This significantly dampened the mood. What also bothered us: We've been there before, and it was at least as loud – even with loud shouting and singing – and no one said anything. So, unfortunately, it seems arbitrary or as if there are double standards. It's a shame, because the food was cold. But under these circumstances, we unfortunately cannot recommend the restaurant for larger groups or parties.

Everything was great, and the burgers were simply amazing. We'd go back anytime. I have no idea what the rooms were like; we only ate here. We're going back for our anniversary. High praise!

Yes, I can recommend the Road Stop. I've been going there for dinner at irregular intervals ever since the place opened. The service is always super friendly and attentive. The food is also excellent. Always delicious, and the portions are generous. The entire selection of drinks, appetizers, main courses, and, of course, desserts is varied and pleasantly large. The ambiance is also inviting and clean. I always enjoy it. It's also very good for sitting outside in the summer. I can't say anything about the rooms personally, but from what I've heard, they're also very good.

Nice location and service. The food was a disappointment. I've never had such a dry hamburger, dripping with BBQ sauce. The sauce on the sole of a shoe on a soggy bun.

We visited the restaurant. It was a very nice place, you feel like you're in America. The decor was fantastic! The service was all very friendly and attentive. Simply fantastic.

The rooms are decorated according to themes, which is quite cool. The only thing I missed in the two rooms I stayed in was a small table with seating. I had mixed experiences in the restaurant. The side dishes were excellent, but I was disappointed with the spare ribs. You can choose from several sauces. Unfortunately, the sauce is only served in a small pot instead of being rubbed onto the ribs and, ideally, briefly seared on the grill or something similar. The service was different on both visits. One time it was very attentive, the other time you were almost ignored. (It could have been a table in the very corner.)

Unfortunately, it's worth less than one star. The disappointment is immense: you make a long journey, look forward to the meal, only to be told by a waitress/reservationist that "it's not a one-size-fits-all dinner." You happily make a reservation and note your seating preference, looking forward to the evening, only to find out on arrival that it won't be honored. After consulting with the manager, we were granted "our one-size-fits-all dinner." The reservationist didn't say goodbye or wish us a nice weekend. With great disappointment, this was our last evening/visit to the Dortmund location.

I've never seen a veggie smash burger before, but it tasted great here, too. Very friendly service, who even kindly made me a cold chocolate milk. I'll be back again.

Delicious dishes, also recommended for vegans. Unfortunately, the vegan loaded fries that you see in the photo have now disappeared from the menu. The staff is nice, but sometimes you have to wait a while to be served, especially when it comes to drinks after the dishes have already arrived. I still enjoy coming here again and again. The view is also great.

Super cool location, rustic and quaint furnishings, you definitely feel like you've taken a lunch break somewhere on Route 66. Good food and drinks and absolutely reasonable prices. Friendly and quick service at the table, impeccable service. The only small drawback: the lighting at the table was a bit too economical, something that could and should be improved. Very nicely located with lots of outdoor seating and a beautiful view. All in all, it's a great experience, I'll be happy to come back. P.S.: Since I only visited the restaurant, I can't say anything about the hotel or the rooms and therefore can't rate it.

We had lunch here during the week, it was relatively empty. The service was great, the view was great, our food was good.

A nice shop... but, yesterday I ordered the ribs with chilli cheese fries. The fries were quite good, but how can you charge almost €18 for ribs that perhaps meet the heated discounter standard. I'm happy to pay even more, but for what is delivered, it's just embarrassing. Maybe the managing directors (Hubertus/Susanne) would also like to eat the ribs. Have fun and don't be surprised. A small but nice motel in a beautiful location. Everything is consistent. You can choose the rooms according to your taste, the prices through various booking apps are fair. There is a small breakfast for currently 5 euros. Limited to the essentials, a few coffee specialties from the fully automatic machine. Toast, margarine, jam, some sausage, cereal, yogurt and juice. Everything is great for a short stay. The beds were OK.

We traveled from a long way over Easter just to visit the Road Stop with a couple we were friends with. Unfortunately, we were disappointed on site as we were refused entry without a reservation - due to an alleged problem with the internet. This was particularly frustrating because there was no indication on the website or Instagram profile that reservation-only service was available over the holidays. A short bit of information in advance would have saved us a lot of stress and, in our opinion, would have been a sign of respect towards the guests. It's a shame, because we were really looking forward to the visit. Maybe it will work another time, but this experience was disappointing.

Well, it used to be really good, but the taste has really deteriorated. And service is only available inside. There is self-service outside. You can do it, but it didn't really excite me. The young man who brought us the food was very friendly. We didn't stay overnight, just ate, so I can't say anything about the rooms.

Always happy to come here! What should I write? I have known and loved RoadStop since my childhood. Even today I like to go up to Hohensburg and invite myself or eat here with friends and family! The quality is consistently excellent, prices are of course not takeaway prices, but who expects that? Would you like a nice evening, great service, great location? Then head to the RoadStop! Whether inside or outside, both are great! So you can enjoy it whatever the wind and weather. I'm looking forward to the next opportunity 😸✨

Nice western atmosphere, friendly service and delicious food. The only thing that was a bit irritating at the end was the tip requirement built into the payment device from 7% upwards, free amount or, provocatively, "no tip".

Fantastically good tasting burgers, great location for meetings and especially for events separately in the basement and the beautifully designed rooms are also unique. Always worth a visit and highly recommended!

Quite good in itself, really authentic, big selection. However, the service was not what we hoped for. The food was also quite good, burgers good, fries good, dessert top, according to my companions the shakes were also good. But we had to wait a very long time before we could order drinks and also a very long time before we could ask for the bill. Then we also had to wait a long time until we received the bill and were able to pay. According to the service that day only 2 hours per reservation. Unfortunately we were there longer due to the long waiting time 😅

Great location to eat with very attentive service. When the weather is dry and warm, you have a great view of the Ruhr Valley and the Hohensyburg.

Het eten was lekker en van zeer goede kwaliteit. De gerechten zijn typisch Amerikaans, maar in Amerika moet je zoeken om dergelijke kwaliteit te vinden. De bediening was uitermate vriendelijk en vlot. Een plek om nog terug te komen.

Child-friendly, but sometimes very difficult places for children with walking difficulties and short legs. A child fell really hard because the steps from the parking lot to the entrance were very uneven. It really cracked. Otherwise, patient staff. Overall very tolerant, so all freaks like to gather there. Freaks is meant positively. We went to eat.

The service is top notch! The burger I had was super delicious! Everything was perfect and it was really delicious. Regarding the side dish, we unfortunately had to say that the potato twisters were only served lukewarm... That's why there's a star deduction... maybe it was just a small slip-up. We'll definitely be back 👍🏾

Gestern leider keine gute Erfahrung gemacht: Das Essen für 4 Personen wurde sehr spät gebracht, zwei Gerichte waren kalt und das Patty meines Veggie-Burger war knüppelhart und kaum zu schneiden, wahrscheinlich direkt gefroren gebraten. Pommes auch kalt. Auf meinen freundlichen Hinweis wurde mir ein kostenloser Kaffee angeboten. Brauche ich nicht mehr.

Auch wer noch nicht in Amerika gewesen ist, verspürt hier das entsprechende Ambiente. Eine schöne Auswahl an Burgern, Pommes und Nachos wird geboten und von einem super netten, kompetenten(jungen) Personal zügig gebracht. Sehr lecker und empfehlenswert!

There are even charging stations in front of the door. Unfortunately one of the two places appears to be occupied by a RoadStop vehicle. The employees with company cars should probably be trained again.

We were there at the weekend; it was my second visit. The service was friendly, and we were able to order everything at once. The starter came out pretty quickly too. Overall, I'd describe the quality of the food as average. The fries and burgers are better elsewhere. Price-wise, you should definitely budget a few euros more. I find the separate pricing for mayo, fries, and a burger particularly questionable. The tipping option, where you can choose between 7-15% on the payment device, is a bit excessive in my opinion. We all know that people feel pressured in times like these. Overall, I wouldn't recommend it, especially given the price-quality ratio.

Restaurant rating: unfortunately the new menu is no longer as good as the old one. Some dishes are no longer on the menu. Unfortunately it always takes quite a long time for the food to arrive.

We eat there every now and then at regular intervals. I've always eaten well so far, but I find what's going on there outrageous. Garlic bread looks different to me. 4 torn pieces of baguette which can be bought at Rewe for 50 cents, spread with a “garlic” butter and then 5€ for that is an absolute joke. Even after a personal complaint there was no response. The service was very friendly and professional, which was the least they could do.

I was there for the first time yesterday at lunch. The location was good; I liked it. I should really give it 5 stars, but the rest... The menu was clear and appealing. The staff seemed annoyed and disinterested. The second round of drinks came after I asked for them. The incorrectly delivered chili cheese nuggets were completely empty. (I ordered nuggets, which were good) They were replaced. Then the fries and the burger arrived what felt like 10 minutes later. The regular burgers obviously didn't have freshly prepared patties on them. I'd like to give it more stars, but then you need to work on the quality of the food and the friendliness of the staff.

Bei schönem Wetter auf der Sonnenterrasse Platz bekommen. Trotz großem Andrang schnell Getränke und Speisen aufgenommen. Getränke ging echt fix, Wartezeit für Speisen auch akzeptabel, da es echt gut besucht war. Leckere Burger, tolle Pommes und echt nettes und zuvorkommendes Personal. Hat echt Spaß gemacht. We were there for dinner. It was all great. The food, the service and the people as well as the ambiance were great.

Wir waren vor einiger Zeit mit der ganzen Familie im Restaurant – von den Großeltern bis zu den Enkeln. Leider war unser Besuch alles andere als überzeugend. Der Service wirkte chaotisch, die Qualität des Buffets war durchschnittlich, und die Auswahl entsprach nicht den Erwartungen, besonders bei einem Preis von 25 bis 30 Euro pro Person. Aufgrund des Gesamteindrucks vergebe ich nur noch einen Stern.

Wir haben als Paar vom 29.1.-30.1.2025 im Road Stop Dortmund übernachtet und im Restaurant gegessen. Problemloses einchecken trotz Internetstörung. Supernettes Personal. Übernachtet haben wir im Zimmer Central Park. Super eingerichtet mit Wasserbett. Frühstück für € 5,- typisch amerikanisch aber soweit o. k. Das Essen (Spare Ribs und Hamburger) im Restaurant war top. Bedienung auch hier sehr aufmerksam und freundlich. Wir haben uns super wohlgefühlt. Absolut empfehlenswert.

I visited this restaurant back in 2018 and gave it a 2-star review based on my experience with the buffet: average service, average quality, and selection – not convincing at a price of over €25 to €30 per person. Now I discovered that within six months, the restaurant tried again to have my review deleted. I consider such behavior unfair and misleading, both to potential guests and to other restaurants that have to compete in the market with quality and service. An honest review culture thrives on authentic experiences – not manipulation. For this reason, I am updating my review and now awarding it only one star.

The seating arrangement in the restaurant was very rude. She asked her colleague, "What are they doing there?" We didn't have a reservation, and since the lady wasn't standing at the front, we sat wherever we thought was right. Then we had to leave because we didn't have a reservation, and the lady's apology was very indirect. It's a shame, really, because the food there is very good.

Big Family Breakfast Buffet, unfortunately a disappointment ... because the buffet was already plundered 30 minutes after opening, and an hour after opening, there were still no new rolls... The guests' mood was therefore low, the service seemed to be trying to calm things down, but the very young team was noticeably overwhelmed... my opinion: not appropriate value for money for a "2-hour buffet" at €24.95... The host explicitly failed to accommodate the rush of paying customers who had reserved in advance and were therefore predictable.

I'm from Romania, it's my first time in Germany and I stayed at Road Stop for two days! The bar is absolutely gorgeous, with a design that makes you feel relaxed and welcome. The location itself is different from other places, but in a positive way – everything is arranged with good taste and attention to detail. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a nice and welcoming place. I will definitely be back!”

I can't comment on the rooms, as we didn't stay overnight, but were only there for the Big Family Breakfast. The selection is good, everything is fresh, and we were very satisfied. Filter coffee and juice are included, which definitely justifies the price of €25 per person.

I’m American and love going here because it is like a little piece of my Heimat. I really love their ribs with the smoky bbq sauce! A baked potato on the side, yum! The atmosphere really does feel American, they did so great on the decorations. The staff is friendly, but their service is sooooo slow and negligent. You have to flag people down constantly for what you need and your glass sits empty for a long time. The check back on you food comes when you’re almost done with the meal. If their service was better then definitely 5 stars! Music could be louder, it’s so soft you can’t hear the words. I will continue to go back and do highly recommend it for a nice American style meal! Haven’t stayed in the hotel.

We had dinner here yesterday on Sunday evening. The food and service were great, or so we thought. Unfortunately, my fiancée has been throwing up repeatedly for several hours now. We will not visit the restaurant again.

I have used the restaurant's services many times. For me it's ok, the burgers are well made, the ribs are very good and juicy, the beer is wet and cold... that's how it should be everywhere! Inside, there's a nice atmosphere of an inn somewhere out of Route 66, but when the summer temperatures are high, it's very nice to stay outside and eat something cold in liquid. I recommend it and will visit you again during the next motorcycle trip in your area.

The food, we had burgers and ribs, was very tasty and of excellent quality, and we also liked the large selection of drinks. The staff was very friendly and gave us good advice and quick service; we found the prices reasonable. We left full and satisfied and would love to come back.

I was looking for somewhere to stay for the Christmas party that took place at the Merkur Casino. I couldn't find a place to sleep any closer or cheaper. The room was beautifully decorated in the style of a prison cell. The service in the restaurant was super accommodating. The food was typically American and good. The look of the restaurant with American props is decorated with attention to detail.

After a longer hike, we stopped at the road stop with a larger group. We had reserved a table in advance. The menu with delicious-sounding names of various burgers promised to be a culinary delight. Unfortunately, unfortunately, far from it. I have never eaten such an incredibly bad-tasting, high-priced burger. Cheap burger buns, dry, tasteless frozen patties and simple toppings. If, according to the menu, you mainly specialize in burgers at such horrendous prices, it should go without saying that there are fresh homemade patties. Since we were all hungry and had been waiting for a long time anyway, we ate the burgers, according to the motto "hunger drives us in." The goat cheese fries, which also sounded tasty on the menu, were simple fries with a goat cheese thaler, a mushy sauce and some salad mixed in for a mere €11.95. I only received a shrug of the shoulders and a tired smile from the waitress who I asked about the dishes. Which to me meant that it was known but nothing was changed. The only thing that scores here is the location and nothing more. If you're looking for delicious burgers here, you're definitely in the wrong place. It's nice to sit there for a drink.

Very unfriendly staff. More than half of all tables are free at 2.30 p.m. but there is only the option to sit on a stool for coffee and cake. Even when we asked again, we were not offered a table with a chair. Thanks. Take our money somewhere else.
