Riva Bar in München

A very good, typically Italian bar/lounge. Perfect for a light lunch or dinner, or just a quick bite. The decor in the back is lovely, a bit dark, while the front bar area is simpler, more sociable, and lively. A chic, well-groomed, mixed crowd (young and old), tasty snacks, and delicious desserts. Better suited for a light meal than a long, quiet evening. Ideal for a short visit for two, but also suitable for solo travelers or groups. Friendly service. The Kull/Weinzierl group has simply mastered the art of creating a great, convivial (Italian-Munich style – or, in the Kull, French-Munich style) atmosphere and a welcoming ambiance. Thank you!

A very nice bar in Munich. Cozy atmosphere, great food and drinks. I was there on Saturday. The service at lunchtime was incredibly friendly and fast. Great welcome. I went back later in the afternoon – shift change – and it was the complete opposite. Conclusion: a great bar, and with the right service, it's fantastic.

It's actually a very nice bar. The only reason it only gets three stars is because, despite having a reservation, we didn't have a pleasant experience yesterday. We'd just finished eating and were having a nice chat when, after less than an hour and a half, the server came and said she had to collect payment and that we had to leave because the table was being given to someone else. Firstly, I didn't see anything in the OpenTable reservation about a time limit, and secondly, less than an hour and a half (it was exactly 1 hour and 20 minutes) isn't nearly enough time for a relaxed dinner! I've been there before without a reservation, and we weren't asked to leave, not even after three hours. If I go again, I'll definitely go without a reservation...

Very tasty pizza, our favorite is "Vitello tonato," but the small sandwiches are also excellent. A glass of Franciacorte with it, and life is fine. Always happy to come back. And a bit away from Viktualienmarkt makes the whole thing even more relaxing, even though you're sitting on the street.

The Riva Bar has a nice location and offers a solid selection of drinks. The cocktails were decent, nothing exceptional, and the service was friendly but somewhat inconsistent—attentive some nights, a bit slower on others. The atmosphere is cozy but can get noisy at peak times. Prices are slightly above average; okay for a quick drink, but there are better options for a longer evening.

I've only been there once, and that was enough for me. Unfortunately, I felt very uncomfortable. A member of staff and another person were watching me closely, and I don't know why; I don't even know them. But other than that, it's anything but a bar. Aside from the fact that it's very expensive, I mostly don't like the arrogant tone they adopt among themselves. I understand the stress of work, but to do that in front of everyone isn't nice. There's no respect or courtesy. It's a disgrace. Never again! I'm sorry, but this isn't a suitable place!

Too expensive for what you get. Unfortunately, service was uncoordinated, and the food was mediocre. We had to wait 45 minutes for a pinsa. Unfortunately, the arrabiata was just a tomato sauce and not spicy. There are plenty of other options where you can eat instead.

The Riva Bar is a cozy bar where you can enjoy Italian appetizers, salads, pizza, and desserts. We had mixed vegetarian appetizers, pizza, and tiramisu for dessert. The food was delicious, but the portions were a bit small. We actually wanted to go to the after-work party on Thursday. There was a DJ playing, but there was no room to dance, and no one was dancing. That was disappointing. Otherwise, the atmosphere in the bar is lively and loud.

The Riva is definitely a nice and cool bar, with a lovely ambiance, but unfortunately, it's also a rip-off. A Peroni for 6.40 for 0.4 liters (which would be €8 for a 0.5-liter bottle!) is really steep, especially since there's no other (Munich) beer on the menu. A Plose water for €7.90 for a 0.75-liter bottle is simply outrageous! The food is very tasty, but more for a light snack. And simply overpriced for that! Take the pizza, for example. It's tasty, but not really a pizza in terms of size. It's basically half a pizza for the price of a whole one. And unfortunately, our server, at least, was very unfriendly. No smile, no good service—nothing! Unfortunately, coolness seemed more important to him than friendliness. A real shame. Some restaurateurs shouldn't be surprised when things go south—especially when the euro isn't so easy to spare and you're taking a closer look at where you want to spend an evening with friends...

We've been going here for a long time, but the service has become careless and inexperienced. The presumed shift manager was borderline in his tone and attitude. We actually wanted something to eat, but ended up sticking with a drink... What a shame...

Addendum: Today, I'm sadly deducting two stars. We made a reservation through OpenTable and didn't get a table. It wouldn't have been a big deal. But the way the waitress told us we couldn't make reservations up front (which we didn't know) and sent us back and forth was so unfriendly. Then there was no table for us, and finally, we received a notification from OpenTable asking us to please cancel next time if we couldn't come, even though we were there and didn't get a table. There was no warmth toward the kids either; it was like, you're not welcome. We were really looking forward to Riva. I've been coming here since 2006, but I've never experienced anything like this. It's a real shame. Previous 5-star review: I've always loved Riva, and it's still great as a Riva Bar. Whenever I'm back in Munich, I go to Riva. 🌸 Both the pinsa and the goat cheese salad were delicious. But what's also nice is the warm and cheerful atmosphere.☀️ Truly Italian, simply lively. Quisiera señalar que conozco bien Alemania, ya que he estado aquí muchas veces, y hablo alemán muy bien. La comida aquí no es tan buena como en muchos restaurantes de autoservicio en cualquier tienda departamental en Munchen, estoy muy sorprendido de planeta solitario. Lo que es realmente muy malo (vergüenza sobre usted) es el hecho de que la camarera nos pidió dar propina. Suelo dar propina y doy propina si me gusta! ¡No necesito una camarera rubia que me diga que dé propina! En el menú no había mención de ningún servicio o propina.

We were in Munich for a short trip and stumbled upon this café by chance. You don't often find such friendly and cheerful service! Very welcoming. The drinks were delicious, thanks for the great recommendation! ;) They also included small bowls of olives and cheese on the house!

Tan divertido... para las bebidas. Todas las bebidas italianas y vinos y el personal! Camareros y personal cantando junto a canciones pop italianas. Era como una copa y un espectáculo. Todos divirtiéndose. Las bebidas eran excelentes y los bocados espectaculares! No probé los elementos limitados del menú de la cena, pero se ven bien saliendo de la cocina. Zona exterior y cubierta.

So much fun at this place. The waitresses and bartenders, many women, singing along to the Italian pop songs playing. It was like drinks and a show combined. Not only drinks, but they had a slightly wider menu and some really delicious tapas-type bites. Outdoor seating as well as indoors. Great list of Italian wines by the glass as well as mixed drinks.

Great atmosphere, everyone is super friendly. Not visible from the outside but a great restaurant.

I ate a very filling and very delicious salad. The place is nice, they have a varied menu and it is super well located. The only thing I didn't like was that I asked for lemon for the water and the waiter didn't tell me there wasn't any, but rather made a face at me.

13 Euro for a regular glass of Lugano ... wow. Food was okay for the price. Music way too loud and the bartenders screaming the songs along made any normal conversation impossible. If you are looking for fake "party atmosphere" with some typical Munich style snobs, this is the place to go.

I like the Italian flair of the bar. Ideal for an aperitif - can get busy, especially on weekends. Also delicious for lunch. In the rear restaurant area there is lounge furniture and low tables. When I was in the restaurant it was very busy. A young restaurant. I can recommend it at any time. The front area has the character of a bar, but the back area is quieter. Food very tasty, small dishes like Pinsa or something similar. Service very good and friendly. I'll go there again next time I'm in Munich.👍👍

Riva Bar is not the simple Italian place. Here the staff, the music, the food, everything tastes of Italy. The staff are friendly, helpful, super nice and liven up the atmosphere. The cocktails are very good and the selection of cicchetti is varied, satisfying all tastes. Ideal for an evening with friends and feeling like you are in Venice

A special shop in the middle of Munich - people quickly walk past it because it's a bit inconspicuous from the outside. Good ambience, very own flair, small tables/seats, all guests close to each other. The starter was okay, but the pinsa was really tasty. The service still needs some improvement in terms of motivation. I can recommend a visit.

Nice restaurant, with a bar and small tables at the front and a bit fancier at the back with larger tables and comfortable upholstered benches. We had reserved for 8 people, our table was far too small and it was very tight. The service was good and friendly. The drinks, especially cocktails, were really very good. The food was good, but not outstanding and just a bit too expensive - but normal in this city center location.

Great little bar close to the centre of Munich with a great atmosphere and a divine pizza offering that would make Italy proud, fresh baked to order, lashings of mozzarella and fresh basil leaves. Don't make the mistake of ordering a Margherita without specifying you want a pizza -- this is a bar, and they also serve cocktails!

We booked a reservation for New Year’s Eve on Open Table in October. It is 12/30, and they just canceled the reservation. This is completely unacceptable and ridiculous. It is now too late to make any other plans. AVOID!

Terrible. :( The lady at the bar is so rude and pretentious. Complete double standards—when I asked for water, she brought me a whole bottle for almost 8 euros, while everyone else was getting a glass of water free of charge. Avoid this scam.

The good morning is heard as soon as you enter with a good playlist of Italian music playing in the background. The stools are not exactly the most comfortable but in Munich there are much more uncomfortable ones. The staff is kind, helpful and present. The menu is short, but the substance is tasty and of high quality. The price it's ok. Good availability of wines and aperitifs. Thank you very much well deserved tip....

Terribly bad, eating is beneath everything. Meat dish approaches a goulash. Similar to a rest stop restaurant, or a canteen. In terms of price, however, it is positioned premium. Only one person on staff is competent. Shop is crammed full, tables too small, benches too low, table too small, no chair, just stool, also too low. There will never be enough alternatives nearby again…

Hab tatsächlich meinen Wunschtisch bekommen 🤩🫶 Durften kurz an einem anderen Tisch warten was wirklich nett war … und dann war unser Tisch schon fertig Es war viel los die Kellner hatten wirklich Stress aber es war alles !!! Schöne Bar, sowohl zum Essen als auch nur für einen Aperitivo. Freundliches und aufmerksames Personal, das Essen war sehr gut (italienische Küche, lecker), Getränke etwas teuer (aber wir sind natürlich auch mitten in München 😉). Lebendiges Ambiente, etwas beengt an den Tischen, Sitzhöhe ist niedrig (ist vielleicht nicht für jeden geeignet), unbedingt reservieren, sonst könnte es schwierig sein. Im Laufe des Abends hat sich der Raum aufgeheizt, da das Lokal voll besetzt war. Ich habe mich sehr wohl gefühlt und werde sicherlich wieder kommen, diesmal allerdings mit einem konkreten Tischwunsch bei der Reservierung, dann sitzt es sich entspannter mit Lehne. 👍🏻

Die Bar ist vom Speisebereich abgetrennt, ist vorteilhaft. Die Sitzplätze zum essen sind nicht komfortabel, optisch aber schön gemacht. Es ist sehr eng und sehr voll gewesen. Das Servicepersonal war hervorragend, sie haben in Windeseile gearbeitet und trotz richtig Stress, immer ein nettes Wort und ein sehr freundliches Lächeln zu den Gästen. Preisleistung ist in Ordnung. Das Essen war sehr gut. Wir hatten Pinsel gegessen.

There margarita pizza was the best i have tried in Munich!! Amazing selections of drinks and they are open to customise orders. Our servers where friendly too they spoke english. Overall, had a great time! 🙂

Some years ago I liked the place because of their good food and pizza. Now they offer a very lousy service with very average food but high prices. The place is not welcoming on the backside with very uncomfortable low seats and very small tables close to each others. The place is very small and badly organized. The waiter did not pay any attention to us. Don’t recommend it.

Only left from previous Riva are the 5 stars reviews. What it was one of the best pizza places in town, changed to a bar style. The selection of pizzas has been replaced by a small amount of pinsas. What it means for us, the price increased a 50%, the amount of food decreased and the flavour of one of the best pizzas in town has been replaced by something that you can get in any other place around. Nothing good or bad, just average and loud. It would have been fairer for all of us to replace the whole name, delete the previous reviews and start from zero. Wishing good luck with the new business but not for me anymore.

The Riva Bar reminds me of my vacation in Italy. Easily drink an aperitif and enjoy a snack before moving on. The staff is incredibly friendly and the atmosphere is really nice.

Leider trotz der Tisch-Reservierung haben wir eine mini Hochtisch bekommen dass zum Abendessen echt klein war. Nächstes Mal lieber nur trinken…
