Gans Woanders in München

A super nice spot for during the week or on the weekend. I occasionally go there for poetry events or the Christmas market in winter. The place is super cute and has a great atmosphere. There are seating options everywhere and plenty of quirky spots where you can enjoy the evening. The staff is young and very friendly. The drinks selection is excellent and the food is also very tasty, especially the homemade pizza. The events at Poesie Woanders are always super nice but usually well attended, so it's worth coming early. All in all, a super cute spot that I can definitely recommend.

A truly magical place, one of my favorite cafés in Munich! They have a limited selection, but everything they offer is very good. The cappuccinos are large, the chai latte is amazing, and the fries are truly delicious. In the evenings, you can sit in a treehouse under fairy lights, often with live music. It's always busy, though, so you have to arrive early or be lucky enough to get a seat.

Really like the place, to me it gives the vibe from the Weasly house - The Burrow, the house different parts and looks magical.

Nice place but they don’t have a baby high chair so we cannot visit this restaurant anymore. IKEA Antilop high chair costs 19€ and having one would serve also the small customers that cannot yet sit by their own.

You'll love it...❤️ This place is something very special. This café, bar, cultural venue, and restaurant has been designed with great taste and attention to detail. It's difficult to find a seat on a Saturday afternoon when the weather is nice, but it's definitely worth a try. The prices are probably okay for Munich, but we found a slice of cake for €4.90 to be quite expensive. The drink prices are also a bit more expensive than in other cities, but as already mentioned, they're probably "normal" for Munich. In conclusion, it's worth a visit. There's also a subway station nearby.

WARNING: Mice, restaurant to be avoided! I went there with a friend on the evening of September 29, 2025, to eat pizza. There were mice crawling around under the tables on the terrace. When we pointed this out to the waitress, she simply told us, "We're aware of this." I expect more from a restaurant than just this brief response when it comes to such a blatant violation of basic hygiene rules.

A perfect spot either for a coffee, Aperol or pizza or tasty fries. The staff is also friendly. As well I know, they don’t take reservations for the inside area.

I can recommend this place; the cakes are always delicious, and the fries are also very good. This time I had a pizza, and that was also good. I highly recommend this place, especially for the lovely atmosphere.

We live around the corner and often go to Gans Woanders. It's a very relaxed atmosphere; we love sitting upstairs under the trees; in the summer, you get lovely sunshine there. Dogs are allowed, too. They have truly amazing fries, and the pizza is also very good. Fair prices, too. Definitely recommended!

A charming café with a wide selection of cakes, food, and drinks. The ambiance is reminiscent of a fairytale or witch's cottage, immediately inviting you to relax. You can sit both inside and outside, although seating is somewhat limited inside.

Nice selection of drinks and good pizzas with reasonable prices

It seems to be common practice here for guests to rest their feet on the tables wearing street shoes. Mind you, these are tables where you eat. Anyone who doesn't mind this can feel comfortable here. Anyone who doesn't mind this behavior should avoid this place.

Great atmosphere with good food and delicious drinks! The cultural program is also fantastic and varied; there's something for everyone. On weekends, and especially when the weather is nice, you might experience a longer wait to order, but it's definitely worth it.

So, we live right next door, what can I say? Top locations with great ideas are always welcome. But! The prices! What happened? Recently, I spent almost €60 on 3 drinks and 2 pizzas (one of which was a margarita)? I must be crazy 😌 Would we want to go for a second round with the kids, with drinks and maybe cake, we'd easily go over €100!? Huh?

Beautiful concept of a magic world, situated in a "tree house" like bar and restaurant. The magical atmosphere of Lights in the evening is like a healing in the opposite of the rushing world outside ...

Very delicious food! We had the vegan pizzas and two vegan slices of cake and were completely satisfied! The prices are great too, and the ambiance is beautiful!

A wonderful oasis in the heart of Munich...a truly relaxing place...you can always find a spot somewhere, even if it gets very busy from around 7 p.m.

A magical place above the rooftops of Munich Anyone who has ever sat in this extraordinary treehouse restaurant will never forget it. Even the climb up the wooden stairs feels like entering another world – somewhere between a fairytale forest and a fantasy film. Once at the top, you sit between gnarled branches, surrounded by the aroma of freshly baked pizza from the wood-fired oven. With a view of a "witch's house." If it weren't for a train speeding past on the nearby railway line, you'd forget you were in a big city. The service at the bar is as charming as it is attentive, and you feel like you're staying with good friends. The pizza? Crispy, aromatic, balanced – you can tell that the pizza is baked with love. It's no problem picking up the pizza yourself from the ground floor. Our own version was a "completely different" pizza: Order the pizza and then place the "red pizza bread" on top. The restrooms could use some improvement. But the overall concept doesn't deduct any stars. A visit here isn't just dinner, it's a little adventure. If you're in Munich, you shouldn't miss this magical place. It's truly something completely different!

They debited my account twice and made it extremely complicated to get my money back. I had to go there in person twice and send three emails, and the situation still hasn't been resolved.

The "Gans Woanders" pretty much says it all: you're somewhere else. For me: "A beautiful oasis, amidst the hustle and bustle of the big city." That describes the "Gans Woanders" very aptly. No matter the season, here you can take a break from the otherwise turbulent city. There are niches everywhere where you can retreat in small groups, or you can sit in larger groups on beer benches and the like. The complex has been lovingly blended into the surroundings, be it the "Witch's House" or the surrounding trees that have been incorporated into the architecture. The ambiance is very alternative and feels "close to nature" and is definitely a unique location in the middle of Munich. The ambiance is therefore very special and certainly not to everyone's taste, but I love it! The only thing: it's very cramped at times, and you're moving around in a very small space. Especially when there's a lot of people waiting at the tables, the Hexenhaus, the main spot for food and drinks, can feel a bit cramped. But this also makes it easy to strike up a conversation with the people around you. At times, the crowd is very relaxed and respectful. It's also a great place to come and retreat to a corner with a coffee/tea (or cake, if you like), and a book. As for service, as mentioned, there's no table service. The bar staff are incredibly helpful and very friendly; you get the feeling the people enjoy working here. The food and drinks are great! The cake is delicious, the fries are truly delicious, and the pizza (fired in a wood-fired stone oven) is absolutely top-notch! The prices are absolutely reasonable, and beer is still under €4.00 (as of 2025), which is hard to find in Munich! But that's not all; there's also occasional entertainment. There's a small stage where artists regularly have the opportunity to perform their art, usually music. Conclusion: The food is great, the prices are absolutely reasonable, almost cheap. For me, "Gans woanders" is a place of retreat and/or a place to experience with friends. A place that invites you to linger, whether it's raining, shining, or snowing (although space is somewhat limited in rain and winter). If you can compromise on the "cramped" space and don't mind the "self-service" approach, you can discover a wonderful oasis for yourself here, right in the heart of Munich.

We were there on a Sunday afternoon and there was live music, which was really great. I was particularly impressed by the fresh, moist cake and the fact that they serve kombucha and matcha spritzer!

The location is perfect: a friendly crowd, a relaxed atmosphere, and cool live music. The Schweiger Bräu ready-made Radler from the bottle, which you get without a glass, unfortunately tastes awful! I was looking forward to a freshly tapped Radler.

This rustic self-service restaurant with a treehouse and beer garden is truly worth a visit for all ages. They serve a wide selection of coffee specialties, including decaf, although my decaf black coffee was rather watery. They also offered cakes, presumably homemade, but I didn't try them. I expect it gets really busy on weekends and in good weather.

A slightly different location, which is why it's cool. The pizzas looked good, but I didn't try them. The beer was well chilled and tasty.

A great atmosphere, lots of charm, and you really feel at home. The only thing that's a bit different is the service. It's self-service, like in a beer garden. Otherwise, there's a great feel-good factor, as it's reminiscent of a treehouse, and they serve very good pizzas.

Overall, it's very good pizza. The vibes are amazing, and everything is very Instagramable. I loved all the various staircases that led to the different platforms. Very Swiss Family Robinson. The music that was playing was good. But, it can be hard to find a spot and be prepared to wait a while for your pizza when they are busy.

We were there to enjoy a coffe ( we didnt try any food so thats why i cannt give any star for that ) but it looked delicious :) They had different kind of pizzas and pommes ( also fries ) And different kind of cakes The coffe was good It was self service because you could sit anywhere you wanted and it would be a little difficult for the waitress to find you :) The tree home as I named it was really cute For the summer a top destinations because it was under the tree and that made it really freshness ....

A very quaint place with a very special atmosphere. You just have to soak it up, whether over a cup of coffee or another beverage. We were able to watch a band rehearse. A fantastic experience. It's nice that places like this still exist.

This is our second time here. Gans is a comfortable walk from the Glockenbachviertel district. The prices are fair, and the atmosphere is wonderful. Last time we sat downstairs in the courtyard, where a rope was attached to the top of a crane, and someone was doing gymnastics on it. This time, a large disco ball was hanging there, probably for the evening concert. This time, we sat on the upper level facing the street. There were louder noises coming from below; I suspect it was the dishwasher. This time, we ordered rosemary fries and drinks. The fries seemed to be a mix of freshly fried and lukewarm fries, hence one star deducted, but otherwise, they were really good. Otherwise, everything was great. It looks cozy inside, too.

A very cool location, easily accessible by both public transport and car. Unfortunately, the cleanliness of the dishes and glasses leaves a lot to be desired. I had to ask for a clean glass three times before I could drink from the bottle. I also found the reminder that I had to tip very unpleasant. Apparently, the meaning and purpose of the tip has been lost. All in all: it was nice to have been there once, but it doesn't need to be repeated.

I really like Gans Woanders restaurant. It's near Cologne Square. It's very special because you can eat outside in a treehouse. It's very pretty! It has moderate prices. The pizzas (around 12 euros) are delicious, as are the fries. They also have many vegan cakes. The pastry selection is different every day. There are many vegetarian and vegan options. It's a very fun experience. I love it very much - 5/5 stars!

Hello, it seems like a nice place, at the first glance.. but the day after when you check your account balance you realize that the transfer wasnt correct and the "gans woanders" charged too much. Maybe this happens from time to time.. but at least you hope, that if you ask for the adjustment, they send you the money back.. but NO! So i definitely can't recommend this place

Gans Woanders impresses with its wonderful ambiance and many cozy corners to explore and linger. You'll immediately feel at home here and can escape from everyday life. The menu includes small, tasty dishes and delicious cakes, perfect for a relaxing break. In addition, exciting events, concerts, and even an atmospheric Christmas market take place regularly, further enhancing the experience. A wonderful place for enjoyment and entertainment in a pleasant atmosphere – always worth a visit!

A quaint "restaurant" with a unique style. Self-service, but delicious pizza and shandy. Drinking glass? No way! But a tasty shandy nonetheless. Very cozy and larger inside than it appears from the outside. I'll go back if I can manage it.

A pleasant experience with a jazz concert on a Sunday. The place is labyrinthine and reminiscent of a witch's house. Everything is made of wood. The service is very well organized despite the crowds.

The store actually has a particularly beautiful ambience that I haven't discovered anywhere else in Munich. Beautifully cozy retreats spread over several floors, beautifully lit in the evenings, great program with live music, Christmas market, etc. However, we urgently need to work on the friendliness of the entire staff! Because even the beauty of a restaurant doesn't allow customers to be treated like that. Sometimes people don't even look at you when you talk, you often seem arrogant from above, there is often chaos when picking up the pizzas, inside you are sent out to the bar, at the bar you are sent in again, when you return the dishes because you don't dare to ask something, you are almost ignored or considered stupid, it is taken for granted that every customer has to know their way around! I've been there several times - so I'm not talking about a single experience! Pizza seemed good to me the first time, but from subsequent attempts unfortunately it was soggy and didn't taste really good (Funghi). Arrogance towards customers is a no-go in the restaurant industry, no matter how popular a store is.

I stumbled with this place on a morning walk. Very friendly staff and excellent to have a coffee and chat. I can also see there are some recommended activities at night and different workshops which is a big plus. Absolutely recommended for a nice coffee, wine or food break.
