Il Mulino in München

SUPER LOCAL!! This was the first restaurant my husband and I visited in Munich, and it was a sensational start. We ordered an appetizer (Insalata Pomodoro) and tried the truffle pasta and pizzas with mushrooms. We finished with a (mega) tiramisu, and it was simply a culinary delight. Bruschetta is served at the beginning—it was so delicious that I tried to figure out how such a simple dish could be prepared so intensely (in vain). I've also had several good versions of pasta, but this one is definitely in my top three. The pizza was good, and they even kindly offered us chili oil to spice it up a bit. The service is excellent! We were always helped when needed, the waiters were friendly and attentive, and we were often asked if we needed anything extra (e.g., the chili oil, more bread or Parmesan, etc.). The restaurant was very busy (a plus), but it got a little noisy after a while. That didn't detract from the enjoyment of the food at all. Overall, a wonderful evening with excellent food and friendly staff. I've already recommended it and would definitely visit again on my next trip to Munich.

Il Mulino is an Italian restaurant for special occasions. The prices are higher compared to your average neighborhood Italian restaurant, but the food is fantastic, and the daily specials menu in particular offers unusual dishes that you won't find everywhere. The portions are generous; you definitely won't leave hungry, and the service is friendly and efficient. I recommend making a reservation, as the restaurant is almost always full.

I was invited to Il Mulino by business colleagues. I was the first to arrive and was intercepted by the (probably) owner, who rather irritably asked me how many people the reservation was for. I replied that I didn't know because I was a guest and gave him the name of my colleague who had made the reservation. He mumbled a rather rude Italian sentence that went something like this: "My God! That people can be so stupid." Anyway... In the end, there were nine of us sitting at a table meant for eight. I was glad to be outside again. Oh well! The food was no better than at a "nice Italian restaurant."

Overall, everything was delicious. A classic Italian restaurant with good service. The only slight qualm is that the tables are spaced very close together.

My fish and vegetables were very good, but the other pizzas had a rather soft dough that didn't taste as good.

We had reserved a table for 10 people by phone, which was no problem. There was no discussion about any special arrangements. Once seated, we were asked, as if it were the most natural thing in the world, whether we wanted the antipasti or the set menu – apparently mandatory for groups of 10 or more. We couldn't find this information on the website afterward, nor had it been communicated to us beforehand. In the end, each of us had to take a "small" antipasti plate. The waitress seemed quite annoyed, as we reacted with some surprise and confusion. Although we were told at the table that it cost €14, the bill showed €18 per person. Regardless of this, the pizza, while fairly priced, was mediocre. The crust lacked fluffiness and was generally too dry. Unfortunately, we didn't leave a tip; we felt ripped off. The ambiance, however, is nice.

We've been here quite a few times over the past few years, but unfortunately, we had a bad experience recently. We had a reservation for five people and were basically kicked out after 1.5 hours because "other guests were waiting." We were aware that you only have two hours per reservation, but we also wanted dessert, which the head waiter apparently didn't like (even though we still had 30 minutes). The pizza wasn't cooked through either; it was still raw in many places (even though we had to wait an hour for our food). We definitely won't be coming back. They obviously have enough customers, and it seems politeness and friendliness aren't a priority anymore.

Overall, it's not bad, only the pasta was tasty, the salad was quite strange, just different vegetables cut into large pieces without sauce. And we were also greeted by a cockroach in a flowerpot, so a minus star for that. A minus star for the service too, because the utensils were just thrown on the table, and the service is a little short of excellent. Quite simple to book a table.

Chef Lillo is such a machine you all don't understand

The waiter seemed to have no interest, was annoyed, and if he'd been a bit more attentive, he could have sold at least three more bottles of water and two more bottles of wine. It's not exactly cheap, so you'd wish for a bit more friendly service. The food was good.

I went with big group after our graduation and they made us have a great time in the terrace! Very recommended for sharing a nice pasta, some wine and enjoy the night!

I had the greatest time at Il Mulino for a celebration with a big group of friends and the owners and all staff were extremely kind and organised. They reserved the beautiful external area for us, where we enjoyed their great food and wine. I highly recommend Il Mulino for any celebration. Grazie mille Marco and all the team!

The ambiance is pleasant, but the overall impression isn't convincing. The service seems unfriendly and abrupt, the pasta wasn't al dente on several occasions, and the pizzas were soggy due to too much liquid in the mozzarella. Only the vitello tonnato was consistently good. Considering the prices, the quality doesn't live up to expectations. Another visit is out of the question for me.

On September 12, 2025, at 7 p.m., the four of us celebrated my uncle's birthday. (Despite prior notice, there was no small gift for the occasion, but we received very friendly service and felt completely at home.) The food was excellent: piccata lombarda (veal medallions with lemon), veal schnitzel, and various pizzas. For dessert, a creamy tiramisu rounded off the evening perfectly. The service was very attentive and friendly. Overall, an authentic Italian restaurant with excellent value for money, which I would happily recommend. We sat inside (a large venue with many rooms, also suitable for family gatherings); the glass-enclosed terrace with heaters was also very inviting, so you wouldn't freeze outside even in the evening.

Very good food at a good price, nice and large terrace with a view of the former northern cemetery and therefore a very nice location, we didn't have to wait long for the food and we also got a baguette for the wait (which was not charged), would happily go back.

Everything's getting more expensive, the quality of the food is declining... I was looking forward to tagliatelle with strips of veal and mushrooms. The tagliatelle was very overcooked and stuck together with the sauce(?). There were actually a few tiny pieces of meat – dry and tough. I was disappointed. My hopes were in dessert: poppy seed ravioli with vanilla ice cream and some kind of sauce. The ravioli were hard and dry, but incredibly sweet... With spritzer and cappuccino, I finally wanted to eat something "good and tasty" again. Unfortunately, this was a waste of time. It's a shame, because there are hardly any good Italian restaurants around anymore. I can't recommend it.

Very nice food, Service and atmosphere

We waited 20 minutes each for our table and check before being served. We also didn't get the bread or sauce that came with the meal. I don't know if this was considered discrimination, but our experience was definitely average. The food was okay.

For my small anniversary celebration, I chose the restaurant Il Mulino, which our family has enjoyed visiting for many years. The anniversary celebration was also a wonderful experience, with an outstanding four-course menu, great wine, and impeccable service. A huge compliment and many thanks also goes to Calogero Mancuso, who provided us with exemplary, excellent service throughout the evening.

We had reserved a birthday table for Sunday lunch. The quality of the food was average at best – but the prices were quite steep. It's hard to find a main course for less than €25 (excluding pizza). As for the aperitif: The €7 Bellini was served with (yellow) peach juice from a carton, not with white peach puree as the recipe calls for. You could really save yourself the hassle. The monkfish we ordered was tasteless and swimming in oil, even though it was supposedly grilled. The piccata Milanese was soggy with watery tomatoes. The desserts (dessert variety, crema bavarese, tiramisu), on the other hand, were delicious and lived up to expectations. Also noteworthy was the decidedly lackluster service – it took 10 minutes for us to even get the menu. After that, the waiter barely showed up again (we were sitting in an adjoining room with other guests – why doesn't anyone ever stop by?). The drinks (beer and white wine) we ordered with the main course were brought very late, after we had already finished our meals. Instead of the glass of wine we ordered (0.1l according to the menu), we were served a quarter liter, and of course, we were billed for it. In the end, we paid €170 for three people, excluding tip. We used to love going to Il Mulino, but these days the price-performance ratio is out of proportion.

It was great and all except one waiter , he was not nice

Delicious Italian food. There were a lot of customers. The waiters seemed very busy. They would chat with the customers. But we were not good at English and could not speak Italian. We could only smile.

Everything was perfect. The pizza could be a bit bigger—but that's in the eye of the eater. 😉

A highly recommended upper-middle-range restaurant in Schwabing. I like to go here for lunch every now and then and have never been disappointed. The dishes are simple but flavorful. The chef knows his craft and doesn't overdo it. The dining room is somewhat angular and dark, yet comfortably furnished - the atmosphere is calm and relaxed. The service is friendly, but seems a bit lackluster and unmotivated.

Unfortunately, I was very disappointed. I had the pasta with scampi, and I wasn't impressed at all with the flavor. The pasta had no flavor, and the scampi was tough. For €21, I really expected more! A waiter was constantly cursing throughout the restaurant. It's a real shame, because the restaurant is in a really good location and the ambiance is great! The service was also good.

Via Tripadvisor dit restaurant gevonden en een tafel gereserveerd op zondag 1e Paasdag. Met de taxi vanuit het centrum in 12 minuten voor de deur afgezet. Mooi restaurant, goede ontvangst. Mooi gedekte tafels, leuke sfeer. We aten hier heel erg goed, een top Italiaanse keuken. Vriendelijke bediening, goede wijnen, goed advies. Zie de foto's. Bijzonder was het hoofdgerecht kalfslever met slices van peren. Onvergetelijk lekker!

That’s a very cosy warm place to have a dine-in with friends or family. It is close to the entrance in Englischer Garden and it is very quiet. The food is typical Italian… very tasty and qualitative.

The ambiance and service were great! Unfortunately, the dishes lacked seasoning and flavor here and there. We couldn't figure out how to wrap a slice of zucchini around a prawn that was still in its shell. The saltimbocca was unfortunately cooked through. The pizza was excellent, and the dessert was incredible! But every chef has a rough day sometimes, and so we'll be back because the service was extremely great and exemplary, and we want to try the cuisine again.

Visited for lunch after seeing the reviews on Google. Ordered carbonara, margherita, and mixed salad. All were very delicious. What bothered me was that I was directed to a seat in front of the toilet even though almost all the seats were empty.

Der Betreiber ist bestrebt solche kritischen Rezensionen entfernen zu lassen, was auch gelingt. Für mich ist diese Erfahrung ungenügend, hier möchte ich nicht mehr essen gehen.

I often go to this restaurant and have always been satisfied, but this time it was really the height of impertinence! We were a group of eight people who of course had reservations, as I always do. We got a place outside in the winter garden, but unfortunately the TV (European Football Championship) was above our head and was turned up so loud that we couldn't have a conversation. Turning it down wasn't an option for the boss! When asked whether the two tables next to us could be made available to us, he said: No, they would be reserved! It then turned out that that wasn't true. We were there for almost two hours and no one sat at those tables. It's really a shame that you treat your guests like that.

Good food and really good service

Top Italian, with very tasty pizzas and excellent pasta dishes. Service top and it feels like a short stay in Italy. But please reconsider the preparation of the tiramisu, because it is "German", mainly cream, which does not do justice to a real tiramisu.

I had a wonderful dinner here while traveling. The bartender fixed me a perfect Negroni to start, the lasagna was perfectly broiled with soft but not too soft layers, and the waiter recommended the perfect glass of wine to pair. Would come again!

In un area tranquilla di Monaco di Baviera, Il Mulino è un vero ristorante Italiano. Noi eravamo in 4, siamo arrivati verso le 21 e preso solo dei primi che abbiamo trovato buonissimi. Una bella sorpresa dopo alcuni giorni di "alimentazione bavarese" :). Il responsbile ed il personale, sono stati molto gentili ed accoglienti. L'ambiente è molto curato. Un piacere aver cenato da loro, ci torneremo.

Not particularly. Service bad. Table not available despite reservation, hastily prepared, far too small and cramped; then nothing came and then the first course came much too quickly, aperitif and amuse geul not yet finished. Eat sola. Wine excellent. Overall, hectic operations, loud, with a lot of delivery service on the side, not a recommendation. We won't be coming back.

He was extremely friendly, attentive and his professional demeanor made us feel completely comfortable. The food was simply delicious - from starters to dessert, everything was fresh, tasteful and prepared with attention to detail. The atmosphere in the restaurant was very pleasant and we felt like we were on a short vacation in Italy. We can fully recommend Il Mulino and will definitely come back!

A restaurant where everything just fits! Super delicious food, very good prices (finally a restaurant where the inflation of the last 2-3 years is not passed on to the clientele), friendly and authentic Italian service, very pleasant ambience (mixture of secret with modern accents) and very short waiting times despite a full house. At the beginning we were greeted a little more distantly and asked about our reservation (we were half an hour early) but were kindly given a table. Our waitress was top notch and also took care of the care of my flower. However, the food was unfortunately only mediocre (Tagligioni de Trufa and Radicchio with Scarmozza, starter plate and a tomato soup) unfortunately half of it was oversalted and the truffle taste was rather mild. The tiramisu was missing both the egg and the alcohol. The ambience outside is definitely nicer than inside.
