Ritterstube in Heidelberg

We were three families ate there on Christmas Day 2024 having booked the table a month before. Although the area in front of the restaurant was beautiful, we were made to sit in the back by ourselves in an area where there were no other customers and it was not so warm, but huge. Maybe because there were 11 of us. The food was quite good and the service very good. The view of the building is amazing!

There were four of us in the restaurant last night and I have to say that we had to wait almost two hours for our food because, as it later turned out, the waitress didn't write down the order. All she did was draw wave patterns and small circles on a small pad as we placed our order. After an endlessly long wait and a lack of patience, the starter came, a pumpkin soup, which arrived with the comment: "You were lucky there." When we asked about the main course, we received an absolutely rude comment from a waitress that said: If you hadn't ordered the starter, your food would have come earlier. My so-called Parmesan schnitzel was unfortunately a completely dry pork schnitzel, which was only sprinkled with Parmesan cheese with about five soft fries and a cranberry sauce from the package. Really inedible. The other dishes also included ready-made fried potatoes and ready-made mashed potatoes and the red cabbage was also probably from a jar. Along with the bill, we wanted to speak to the restaurant manager, and several younger waitresses were sent to our table because the older blonde lady was apparently too polite. After asking twice, the restaurant manager came, who had previously been instructed by the waitress who had forgotten our food. We explained the situation to him and at first it looked as if he understood our request, but then came another bottomless comment: "I decide to what extent I will accommodate you with the bill.” The older waitress then added her two cents instead of apologizing. The gentleman seemed unfriendly and extremely annoyed, which I can now understand after reading the previous comments. I don't think we are the only guests who complain every day about the food or the rude behavior of the employees. I really have to say, I'm glad I came out of this store without food poisoning. Unfortunately, even the guests who came to the restaurant after us got their food before us and left again. Unfortunately I have to say, an absolute flop, absolutely not recommended. If I could I would give absolutely no star, it's a mystery to me how such a place can survive, probably because of tourists who are ignorantly looking for something edible. This is not how you treat your guests.

Not recommended. Long waiting time, unfriendly service.

Group dinner with ~30 people planned well in advance. Food was excellent, but wait staff and kitchen organization was shambolic. Multiple people never had their orders put in, and more than 15 people including the kids didn't get their food for more than 90 minutes after ordering (if they even got it). Loved the food but would not go again.

It hurts the Baden soul that regional dishes are no longer freshly prepared in a traditional house like the Hotel Ritter with its Ritterstube. The Maultaschen with potato salad for just under €20 were pure convenience food, the potato salad was full of preservatives and therefore inedible. This is shameful, because given the many international guests, the Ritter is a terrible culinary ambassador. Numerous other restaurants in Heidelberg city center where I have eaten over the last few days show that there is another way. My criticism was accepted with a shrug of the shoulders by the otherwise friendly service staff.

We as a family spent four days on a short visit to Heidelberg. The reception at the hotel, the service and the room were of very good quality. The ambience is dignified. The food was very plentiful and of very good quality. Simply delicious. The service staff is very friendly, fast and attentive! The schnitzel and the goose are a poem! We can highly recommend this hotel!

Super Auswahl der Schnitzelkarte sowie auch reichlich andere auch saisonale Speisen, für jeden was dabei. Wartezeit Essen ist angemessen und was zählt, es ist frisch zubereitet. Bedienung sehr freundlich und berät einen auch.

Come back 😃 Only the service wasn't very attentive. But everyone has days like that.

Delicious food and friendly staff with very good value for money.

Absolute catastrophe! The service misunderstood our order and completely different things came. They were then cleared away again and without apology it continued with one person getting something and having to finish it, then person 2 came, then 3, then 4. We basically ate separately. The crowning glory came with the smoked salmon with toast: there was finger-thick mold on the toast. Reply to the owner: You are of course absolutely right. There was only 1/2 finger width of mold on the toast.

I was there again last night and ate deer medallions, they were perfectly fried, the taste was excellent, I'll be back

Please don't come here if you're hungry. I can say/write a lot more but overall, our order took more than 1 hour and was cold. Potatoes tasted like they were from the day before. When it comes to prices, you have different expectations.

Half of bone-dry spare ribs were complained about, I asked the waiter if I wanted new ones. No question asked if they were ok or that he was sorry, none of them - ridiculous! More appearance than reality.

Das Essen war okay. Wir haben uns die Getränke- und Speisekarte selber geholt, weil niemand kam, um Sie uns zu bringen. Dann mussten wir uns heftig bemerkbar machen, um das Essen und Trinken zu bestellen. Es dauerte dann zu lang, bis die Getränke kamen und noch länger, bis das Essen gebracht wurde. Drei Essen wurden von zwei Bedienungen gebracht. Eine stellte dann fest wir haben kein Besteck! Messer und Gabeln haben wir dann bekommen, die Servietten haben wir uns dann selber geholt. Auf der Rechnung standen dann sechs Schorlen, obwohl wir nur vier hatten! Wir haben dann zwei Stunden dort verbracht, obwohl jeder nur ein Hauptgericht hatte. Kurzum: KATASTROPHE!

Good lunch in a nice atmosphere

We came in group of 6 on a very busy day of Heidelberg. We were hungry and tired at lunch time. The waiter welcomed us and found us a table, which we really appreciated after being declined to be served so many times. People should not order italien food because it tastes like food from the supermarket. My husband likes the schnitzel so it depends on what is ordered. One friend came later and they forgot her food. Inside and outside look both good. No change room for babies.

If you order food and get something else, it's weird and the service is still stupid. Not recommended.

Just to visit, just one street but beautiful decoration

Exceptional selection of schnitzels. Portions are really big and the price/performance ratio is right here. And all of this in a very inviting atmosphere, both from the outside and inside.

Rather streaky meat, for rather premium prices, bread dumplings were good enough…

Schnitzel is excellent and service is tasty

Traveling in a group, the food tastes acceptable, the fish steaks are boneless, and Asians don't have much of a problem.

We are speechless... We didn't feel welcome from the start. The door wasn't even held open for us with our stroller. Even though we were the first and only guests, we waited for 30 minutes without anyone taking our order. Instead, other guests who came later and sat outside were served immediately. When we got up to leave and addressed the poor service, we were looked at dismissively as a family. The only waiter, an older man with gray hair, waved his hand at us rudely, as if he just wanted to get rid of us. We felt discriminated against and disrespected. Such behavior is absolutely unacceptable.

2024.09.08 Dinner, group tour, the salad was quite good, not bad, the main meal was pork, the pork was a bit salty but acceptable, the meat was just not bad, the dessert was a bit like cheese, with cherry sauce on top, no wine flavor, I personally liked it.

Celebrated my Birthday here. We ordered the calf Schnitzel. I must truly say it's the best I've ever had in my life!!! Service was awesome! Thank you!!!

The best schnitzel (crunchy schnitzel) I have ever eaten, really great. We also enjoyed everything else very much. Very friendly service, great atmosphere.

Lousy service, mediocre food at best, the risotto was plain sticky rice, and on the topic not on the menu, I took a photo of the menu. The young man from the service staff ignored many of us for incomprehensible reasons. I experienced his behavior live and was speechless. My colleague went to the bar to speak to him, which he was unwilling to do and she then wanted to speak to the supervisor. None of our group pushed for quick food and I wasn't interested in football either. And if you now want to accuse me, like my colleagues, of having no idea about gastronomy. I am an enthusiastic restaurant goer, from simple snack bars to star restaurants. I have had better experiences in each one. I've never experienced anything like last night.

Price-performance is simply top. For a hotel with a restaurant in a great location, you can't complain. Service is friendly and responds to guests' requests and questions. Depending on the season, asparagus is recommended, but also schnitzel offers and the overall selection of food and drinks, not too much. There is something for everyone and you can taste that it is freshly prepared. Thanks also to the kitchen, service and the owners.

We arrived there with several people registered. Details Waiter skipped over people when taking the order and wanted to disappear towards the kitchen with 16 of 23 orders. When a guest asked if the meal was made with puff pastry, she was told: I have no idea, I'm not the cook. One of the troops asked him, when we were all sitting in front of empty glasses, whether he could order something else. He took his order and turned on his heel and left. We called after him, but unfortunately he didn't respond. When he put the beer down, I spoke to him again and said that the others would like to order too. He took half, passed the other half to people who wanted to order and left. In addition to our 2 tables, the restaurant was only occupied by 2 other tables. That should have made us skeptical. The food was ok (the risotto was simple rice) but unfortunately the service was bad. Later one of the employees/boss(?) yelled at other guests. We then rescheduled, paid and left. Very unfortunate. P.S. The restaurant has just responded to my colleague's review of the service, saying we didn't eat anything there and demanded food within 20 minutes and just wanted to watch football. A) we ate and drank there for 730 EUR, b) we didn't complain about the speed of the food, c) we didn't watch football.

Unfortunately very bad service. Absolutely not recommended. Unfortunately. Update: Your answer is a complete impudence. I never speculated on football. Dealing with me and other guests is impossible. The reference to fast food as an alternative is a disgrace.

Very nice atmosphere, totally cozy! The food was delicious and so was the wine and the aperitif. But the service still needs to be improved urgently! It took a while for someone to come to take the order. When the food came we didn't have any cutlery and until we called to pay no one came to ask if we had any further wishes, a shame!

Staff way too overwhelmed. Doesn't take orders and forgets to bring the order. Even if there are only 20 people in the restaurant. Either train staff or just leave it alone.

The restaurant offers a beautiful and romantic atmosphere, perfect for a special dinner. The food is excellent, with a wide selection including gluten-free options such as schnitzel, which deserves high praise. Vegetarian dishes are also available. The staff is very nice and the prices are reasonable. Unfortunately, the cleanliness of the women's restroom could be improved, although the men's restroom is clean. Overall, however, a very positive experience.

Best schnitzel in town. Already eaten schnitzel here 5 times. Real Viennese veal schnitzel, huge, fills the whole plate. Baked to perfection. A pleasure.

Very tasty, great service, prices are reasonable

It is the ambience that makes a stay in the restaurant special. The food is rather simple for the price and nothing special. The waiter must have taken his 10,000 steps a day as the premises are very spacious.

We had there a company dinner. The dish I ordered wasn’t complete. Truffle mushed potatoes were without truffles. Cauliflower instead of broccoli. Chickpeas medallions were very dry. It could have been better

Wunderbare Schnitzel Preisleistung absolut in Ordnung. Wenn wir wieder in Heidelberg sind, werden wir wieder vorbeikommen.

Haben nur etwas getrunken. War aber schön fort zu sitzen und Service war nett trotz der kleinen Bestellung.

Wir waren mit allem sehr zufrieden, alles Top, ob Essen, Ambiente und vor allem der Service. Der Chef und seine Crew einfach nur traumhaft. Super nett und freundlich! Die Wienerschnitzel sind sehr zu empfehlen. Wir werden nächstes Jahr in dem wunderschönen Hotel ein paar Tage in Heidelberg verbringen.

Bei herrlichem Wetter saßen wir vor der wunderschönen Fassade des Hauses. Die Bedienung ( Nasrin) war äußerst reizend und zuvorkommend. Das Bayreuther Bier können wir unbedingt weiterempfehlen. Es ist eines der besten. Leider fanden wir das Kalbsschnitzel langweilig, die Pommes mäßig, den Kaiserschmarren trocken und auch das Zwetschgenkompott dazu hatten wir schon besser. Das haben wir sehr bedauert, weil wir es anders erwartet hätten. Auch die Preise deuteten auf eine bessere Küche hin. Schade.

Falsches Getränk erhalten. Schnitzel war trocken und nicht gerade warm. Atmosphäre im Restaurant ist aber angenehm. Das Preisleistungsverhältnis sehr schlecht.

Location ist schön eingerichtet. Es gibt nur ein Gericht bei den vegetarischen Optionen: Risotto mit Spargel. Ich hatte Lust auf Spätzle, aber Freestylemenü war nicht möglich. Das Risotto hat mich so entäuscht und ich konnte es retournieren ohne was dafür zu bezahlen. Die Bedienung war freundlich und kolegial, aber für so ein ritterliches Lokal hätte ich eleganters Personal erwartet.

Wir waren gegen Mittag zum Essen dort, angezogen von der Schnitzeltafel vor dem Gebäude auf dem Platz. Ein etwas älteres Restaurant mit ausreichend Sitzplätzen und bequemen Stühlen. Das Personal war sehr freundlich und auch flott unterwegs, leider waren sie etwas unterbesetzt und etwas in Eile. Das Essen war schnell bestellt und in angemessener Zeit fertig auf dem Tisch. Erst war ich von der Anzahl der Bratkartoffeln etwas erschrocken - sah wie Deko aus - aber dafür war das Schnitzel um so größer. Knüppelsatt ging es dann zum bezahlen - Qualität und Arbeit der Bedienungen war super - aber 22,- € für ein Schnitzel mit einem achtel Zitrone und einem kleinen Häuflein Kartoffeln, da kann man nicht oft essen gehen ohne ab und zu einen Banküberfall zu machen.

Schnitzel was matig, vegaschnitzel had eenvoudigweg geen enkele smaak. Bediening vergeetachtig en onoplettend. Wijn waardeloos, evenals akoestiek. Tja, geen aanrader.

Waren dort aufgrund einer Hochzeit. Tolles Ambiente und super Service. Das Essen war vorzüglich!

Für unsere Feier wurden die Tische hübsch eingedeckt und wir hatten einen sehr schönen Nachmittag mit leckerem Essen bei bestem Service. Unsere Gäste und wir waren sehr zufrieden. Wir kommen gerne wieder. Herzlichen Dank an Herrn Müller & Team.

They have lilited choices but all are wonderful dishes. The serving time is fast. The meat is wonderfully cooked. The spices for the food matches well the whole dish. They have a wide vsriety of good wine and nicely described.

We did not stay at this hotel, but we did Eat at this beautiful restaurant. Again fantastic decor beautiful old world atmosphere, excellent food. Situated right on the marketplace, It was great to be able to eat and enjoy the local nightlife.

Das Lokal hat de facto Potential mein nächstes Stammlokal zu werden. Die Sitzgelegenheiten sind sehr bequem und den Abstand zwischen den Tischen finde ich sehr adäquat. Dort bekommt man nicht das Gefühl, wie Sardinen in der Dose Abend zu speisen. Ich meinerseits kann behaupten, bis jetzt hat uns noch nichts enttäuscht! Das Lokal war jedes Mal eine Geschmacksexplosion in meinem Mund. In dem Lokal erhält man sowohl als auch: freundliche und flotte Ober.

Wonderful experience. We stayed at another hotel a couple doors down, but wanted to eat here when I visited years ago, so did this time. Very glad I did. Food, service, local wine, everything was great. Highly recommended.

To be honest the price is a bit high. Acceptable dishes with good atmosphere.

Fabulous dinner! Big portion! We had dinner here since it was cold and raining outside. We ordered seasonal asparagus soup, beef goulash and pork medallion and was completely blown away! The food and services were both excellent. Beef goulash was tender and tasty and pork medallion was cooked to perfection. We also didn’t expect such a big portion knowing European portions generally smaller than US. And I also have to praise their bread. We just spent a week in Paris and this beat what we ate in Paris. Lastly, they do have English menu so don’t hesitate to ask. This is what I’d recommend to sit down and really spend 1.5 to 2 hrs to enjoy the dinner. If you are looking for something quick, this is probably not your place.

套餐的主餐是鮭魚佐馬鈴薯球&青菜，一開始會先提供麵包跟奶油還有冷開水，第一道湯品是蔬菜湯，味道不會太重較符合東方人的口味，飲料我們點黑啤酒跟白葡萄酒，黑啤酒不會太苦澀相當好入口，白葡萄酒味道甘甜，與主餐的鮭魚相當搭配，主餐份量充足，鮭魚肉質緊實搭配特調的醬料十分順口，馬鈴薯球也有五六顆，口感綿密，最後的甜點布丁淋上滿滿果粒的覆盆子醬微甜而不膩，替整道餐點劃下完美句點。

氣氛很好的騎士餐廳，供應西式餐點，服務迅速周到，餐點口味符合台灣胃口，濃湯不會太鹹，鮭魚排好吃，白酒和啤酒好喝不苦澀，水果布丁香濃可口，鄰近海德堡著名景點（聖靈教堂對面），用餐的好選擇

The banana beer blew me away with its unique taste, never had a beer tasting so good. Food was great with flavors and presentation was awesome. Staff were kind and attentive. the price was just right for the food and appreciate the dinning experience.

Gehobenes Restaurant, dementsprechende Preise, aber geschmacklich sehr gut. Die Sauberkeit der sanitären Einrichtung könnte dem gehobenen Stil entsprechend besser sein.

騎士之家有著超過４００年的歷史，是海德堡城區內最古老的建築物之一，騎士之家內的餐廳駒說也是排名前幾好吃的，但是因為印象有點模糊，所以無法評論餐點。因為是米其林星級餐廳，所以用餐有一定的規矩，而且又是在古蹟內享用餐點，服務生也彬彬有禮，或許會有拘束的感覺，同時台灣的餐點比較清淡，也可能會不適應這邊的調味。在網路上看看其他人的遊記，或許能找到更符合台灣人的口味，但是騎士之家本身絕對是獨一無二的。
