The food tastes quite good and is something different. However, the staff is snotty and speaks condescendingly and very incomprehensibly. The rooms are run-down, and you have to go through the favela in the backyard to get to the restroom. #Dislike

I love Mahmoud's in Heidelberg! I've been there since day one (when he was still in the small shop next door) and I'm still enthusiastic about it. The food is always fresh, delicious, and of the highest quality. The atmosphere is warm and inviting—you just feel at home. For me, it's one of the best places in Heidelberg for good, authentic food.

Wow—I haven't had such incredibly delicious falafel in 15 years! The staff are simply fantastic—super friendly, welcoming, and truly attentive. Even though it was my first time there, I was treated like a regular. A huge thank you to Mahmoud's team—you're amazing!

But I'd still recommend it if you want an alternative to the usual "local" options. I was very satisfied, and vegetarians will find something they like; just follow the staff's recommendations ;) Definitely affordable, too. I'll be back!

I was so excited for it because I relied on the reviews, and unfortunately, I was very disappointed. It was absolutely tasteless; the flavor was simply missing from everything. Everything was absolutely bland, unfortunately not fresh, and there was too much hummus on it. My plate was practically drenched in this one side dish with sesame paste, which is why everything tasted very bitter in the end. The seasoning was definitely lacking.

We had the falafel box, it was very nice and I understand why the restaurant is famous for their falafel. The people working were very friendly and nice. The portion size, quality, and flavor and price are great.

Frankly, this branch has no respect for customers. They play cheesy songs all the time. They don't care about the customers. I hope the chef comes and checks out the branch in Heidelberg.

The best falafel I've ever eaten, delicious with salad. You can sit outside with a wonderful view of the Jesuit Church.

Unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend it. The taste was okay, but unfortunately, I got stale chicken in my shawarma. It was stored in a container while a new skewer was put on. Also, the tables weren't clean, and the server seemed unmotivated. He was nice, though.

We regularly have food delivered to the hospital, and the food is a delight every time. The Levantine dishes—especially falafel, shawarma, and halloumi—are fresh, aromatic, and lovingly prepared. There are also great options for vegetarians and vegans. Mahmoud's has been bringing authentic flavors to Heidelberg for years, and you can see the attention to detail in every dish. The delivery is fast and reliable—perfect for everyday hospital life. Highly recommended!

Hello, you could also give four. I would have given four and a half, and we round from there, so I'm giving five. Unfortunately, there was very little falafel in the falafel box and very little shawarma in the shawarma box. It tasted very good and fresh. My second companion hadn't even ordered yet when my food was already served. Sitting outside is very pleasant.

Beware of this rip-off! The cashier took a whopping €6 tip without our knowledge (on a €39 bill – that's 15% – at a self-service fast food restaurant). Unfortunately, we only noticed it later when we looked at the receipt, as we hadn't actually left a tip. The food was okay, but nothing special. After this incredible insolence, we certainly won't be coming back.

I had falafel with halloumi in bread, and it was soo delicious 🤤. The prices aren't exactly cheap, but I'd always choose it over a portion of fries :D

Absolutely superb. Had the mixed shawarma plate with all the trimmings and had to eat every last bit. My daughters had the falafel wraps which were crazy good value. Tons of veggie options.

Mahmoud makes the best falafel, and I've known him for 10 years. We've also tried his catering at work, and everything was top quality. His staff is super fast and friendly! I will always recommend him and always eat there when I'm in Germany.

I'm very disappointed with this service. I had to wait over an hour and a half for my food. In the end, the dish was wrong, not what I ordered. The food was cold and didn't taste good. Plus, there wasn't even any cutlery to eat with. This kind of thing simply shouldn't happen.

The food was really good and pitas were right from the oven. It is modified to European tastes, so less spicy and sour, I would prefer the original tastes though. But still very good, I would come back anytime.

Unfortunately, it's not as good as Bergheim. In Bergheim, the ambiance and the food are fresher and better.

If you want to eat authentic Arabic cuisine, this is the place for you. I've rarely eaten so well. The prices are also quite reasonable, and the service and staff are extremely friendly. If you come to Heidelberg, you can't miss Mahmoud's. Anyone who hates is a loser.

Super delicious falafel and hummus.

Every time I go there the service is worse, less quantity and more expensive.

I have been going to eat there in recent years and they have gone from bad to worse. Today I was there to eat Falafel and literally the sandwich was empty, it has been offering its customers half-empty bread for several years and that makes me very angry. It no longer has the same quality as before. The quantity is minimal and the prices are very high. I will never come back again.

It was very busy but they are very efficient and friendly ! We got our food quick and it was hot and fresh! We had the falafel shawarma and the Shawarma mit magali! The Shawarma mit magali was especially good! I have not had it before and wasn’t sure what was in it when I ordered it but wow! What an incredible delight! There was an absolute thunderstorm and we were outside eating! The most lovely ladies tapped to invite us to share their table!

Very good falafels! I had the vegetarian plate with baba ganoush, while my friend chose the vegetarian plate with hummus. The falafels were truly delicious, and the tabbouleh was fresh and flavorful. However, I felt the plate could have been better balanced — the molasses dressing reminded me a bit of barbecue sauce, and the dish really needed a touch of acidity to brighten it up. Also, the indoor seating isn’t the most comfortable; sitting outside is likely a better option if the weather allows. One important note: they only accept cash, so make sure to have some on hand. Overall, a good spot for tasty falafel with a few small things to keep in mind.

Good shop. Normally I don't like shawarma at all. But here they really taste great. The best shawarmas around. Falafel are good too. I also like the atmosphere, it has something chilling about it. Price performance ratio top. I wish you continued success.

Mahmoud's has been around for around 20 years and is located in the old town. It is particularly popular with students. We had two special plates (vegan and with shawarma). We enjoyed the food.

It is my favorite place to eat in Heidelberg. I love the falafel here. Tabouli is also good. I liked the tea too. Must visit if you are fan of falafel. There are few seats to sit but in summer one can sit outside. Thats really good.

The shop is a small and warm space. We enjoyed delicious food and relaxed in the Arabic-oriental atmosphere.

A good street restaurant to taste syrian cuisine :) fresh food. We ordered shawarma and magli sandwich. It is delicious and costs only 9 euro. You can enjoy arabic music while eating. :( the place is overcrowded. I recommend it .

We really enjoy being here and especially recommend the mixed starter plate and falafel with tabbouleh in bread. However, the toilets could be a little cleaner.

Extremely good falafel in the old town

I have always eaten there on Bergheimer Straße and have always been very satisfied. Unfortunately not at all here, I found the sheep's cheese and white sauce to be tasteless this time. This time you weren't asked what you wanted on it, unfortunately I saw too late that the "fresh" cucumbers didn't look nice at all to me, which unfortunately proved true for me in terms of taste, so I didn't finish eating them.

We wanted to get it served on a plate, but later we changed our minds when we saw people eating sandwiches. Wraps are really delicious. The place is small but the ambiance is very nice. It reminded me of my good memories.

I got food poisoning from the food... very unfortunate. The Mahmouds in Bergheim, on the other hand, is great. Better go there.

Delicious Falafel But the waiter was a little impatient when explaining the food and how to order.

I visited the restaurant and unfortunately didn't have a particularly positive experience. The food was OK, but nothing special - just average. It didn't impress me and I got the impression that the quality didn't match the restaurant's reputation. However, what was really unpleasant was the way the staff - especially the operator - treated female guests. It seemed unprofessional and inappropriate, which unfortunately left a negative impression. I think friendliness and respect should be a given in the catering industry. Overall, my visit was disappointing and I wouldn't necessarily recommend the restaurant.

Maybe tell people that "mit alles" includes a bitter sauce that makes the falafel much less enjoyable for the ones who don't expect it.

We ate lentil soup and falafel menu for 2 and it was so fresh with all ingredients. Also the portion was really big we couldn't finish it. Its a good spot for a street food.
