Yesterday we spontaneously went for dinner with 6 people. Very good pizzas, service was quick and experienced, spaghetti olio was a bit too spicy for my taste, wine spritzer was good, will definitely come again

The tiramisu has a bit of a wine aroma and is quite delicious. You don’t need to order the seafood pasta in general. The seafood is not very fresh and the spicy oil is very spicy. You can season it. Since it is an all-Italian menu, you can use Google Maps photos to order, which is very convenient.

Discovered while passing through Passau's alleys... as if it was quietly inviting me... I followed the call... and was richly rewarded... an unusual flair in the Monastero… Interesting atmosphere everywhere… There's always a new flair in the angled corridors and rooms and everything is harmonious... somehow... The maestro in the kitchen cooks with passion... My BELLA…. The seafood pizza was a real treat (and I'm not really a pizza fan) Now, hours later, I still have the delicious aroma in my mouth and nose. Un Italiano vero…. The team is so charming… so confident…. my table in the alcove outside with a view of the alley: wonderful... a little bit of stage… a little bit of security…. I wish this to many more guests... Dine…enjoy…joie de vivre…..

The Ristorante il Monastero impresses us every time. The staff is incredibly friendly and you immediately feel like part of a big family. The dishes are always excellent and the tiramisu is an absolute dream. I highly recommend this restaurant!

Nice and classic Italian climate, kind and helpful staff, very tasty food. Pasta here is very tasty and well-cooked, while the pizzas are made the classical Italian way, with a classic coal stove.

Leider darf man hier nicht am Sonntag 20.15 kommen die blonde Bedienung war voll genervt noch uns zu bedienen. Wir mussten uns auf einen Minitisch sitzen obwohl alles leer war.Als wir nach Salat fragten wurden wir als unverschämte leute betitelt und als betrunken obwohl wir erst die weinschorle bekamen. Wir zahlten höflichst namen unser essen mit.Die Kellnerin war voll übermüded musste ins Bett.Der Koch brachte uns die Rechnung gebückt hatte Angst vor der Kellnerin.Er war freundlich aber die Salami roch nach Schwein billig Salami.

Avoid! Were there in the evening as a group of about 6 people. My pasta had a veritable piece of plastic in it - probably the piece cut off from the edge of the pasta packaging, a good 2.5 cm in size, nicely mixed into the food. Luckily I realized beforehand that it couldn't be tomato skin or something similar. When I complained, the waiter tried to make things look ridiculous - that can happen! So the defect report should be embarrassing to me, in front of everyone else, not the other way around. Aha. Well, luckily there are other restaurants in Passau where at least an apology will follow in such a case! Addition: It's been a while, but it really annoyed me, hence the late review.

Wir waren im Il Monastero ohne Tischreservierung beim Abendessen. Wir wurden freundlich begrüßt und bekamen einen schönen Platz für 2 Personen, sogar Nähe Fenster. Der Wein, die Pizzen und Salate waren ausgezeichnet, genauso der Service. Leider waren wir nur für zwei Tage in Passau, sonst wären wir wieder dorthin gegangen.

Il Monastero gets full marks from us. No matter whether pizza, mussels, pasta, fish or meat dishes! Very tasty and delicious pizza for a good price. Had the Pizza Bufalina for around €15. I can only recommend this and is enough for one person. I was recently in Rome and know the Italian flair and taste and you can also find it in the pizzeria. The service was A1 and they were very welcoming to the guests. You could also tell that a lot of regulars were sitting inside, which is always a good sign. We went on a Friday evening and it was very busy, so would recommend booking.

The place itself is very beautiful, although a bit, or rather very old, it feels like you are in the 19th century. The food is edible for a German, but not for an Italian. It's a kitchen from the 80s, the quality didn't convince me. I don't think I will come back.

Excellent pizzas 🍕 with nice and fresh salad. There was plenty of spicy and garlic sauce on the side. Can only be recommended

We had lunch here on a Friday. There are a few tables street side but most seating is inside with a very attractive interior and authentic Italian feel. We arrived soon after it opened so there was only one family there for lunch. Service was fast and friendly. We ordered a tagliatelle pasta and a margherita pizza. We were surprised how fast the pasta came out. It was OK, but not cooked al dente. The serving size was actually over generous indicating it was supermarket pasta. It did come with a small dish of parmesan cheese unchilled which was good. On the other hand, the pizza dough was great and one of the best we’ve eaten outside of Italy. But the tomato sauce seemed to come from a jar or can rather than homemade and didn’t have much taste. The mozzarella cheese was also rather bland (no bufala on the menu). Prices are average except for the San Pelligrino sparkling water which was overpriced at E6. There was nothing wrong with this restaurant, but our lunch was nothing special either. It’s not a restaurant we would be in a hurry to go back to. It confirms our belief that eating Italian food outside of Italy is always a risk especially in a high tourist zone.

We ate at Monasteros for the umpteenth time and, as always, it was excellent. Attentive and quick service. Anna always has a few minutes for her guests, even when business is stressful. 👍👍👍 For me the best pizzas in Passau.

The pizza was very tasty, but the salad left a lot to be desired. I was also a bit surprised that I paid €8.80 for lunch (top price), but a small cola cost over €4. When I politely asked how the total price of over €12 came about when the pizza was the lunch price, I was unkindly pointed out that the drink costs that much. As I said, the pizza was delicious, but the rest, including the service, unfortunately left a lot to be desired.

We came here with a taste of nostalgia after 7 years but it seems that the restaurant has changed drastically. Food was very decent, pasta in a huge plate without taste, parmesan was grinded ages ago, and certainly pasta was not “al mani” made by hand but from the supermarket and pizza… burnt on the side, old and disgusting salami. We did not even finish our meal and run away quickly because the service also was very bad, not polite servants at all, ignoring your requests althought we spoke to them both in German and Italian!

We just arrived in town and was walking around to find a nice restaurant and found this gem. A family run Italian restaurant with authentic cooking from the owners, super friendly lively service. We sat inside and was a nice atmosphere. The rump steak was delicious and tender which were amazing while the spaghetti frutti di mare was fantastic. The sauce was a tasty seafood broth that wasn't salty but nice seafood taste. The white wine was good. Would definitely go back.

Nie zuvor einen so lieblos befüllten Teller vorgesetzt bekommen. Es musste wohl alles schnell gehen. Der mürrische Herr mit den Tellern war auch sehr ungeduldig, als wir nicht in Sekundenschnelle sagten wer welches Gericht bekommt. Wir haben nur schnell gegessen und das sehr laute Lokal schnell verlassen.

Everything went pretty quickly, the service was quick, but the presentation of the food couldn't have been more careless. The rigatoni lay virtually dry in a puddle of cheese sauce in an oversized baking dish. A plate was cleared before the second person had finished eating, so you felt a bit rushed. The taste was okay, but not great.

Great experience, located inside a previous monastery. The first thing inside the entrance is a large crusifix, old large heavy iron doors and other details highlights the history of the building. We were greatly greeted by a colorfully or, as we say in Italy "solare" service personnel. Fantastic food with roots in the more southern part of Italy. Great experience.

To date one of the best pizzerias in Passau. Incredibly delicious food and the price is still reasonable (what isn't expensive these days?). The ambience coupled with the charm of the location is always worth a visit.

Like others, I would like to give it 0 stars to 0.5. Because my wife really liked the eggplant with tomato. Well, otherwise, where should you start with such a failure. Ambiance is zero and there is simply nothing at the table. Antipasti totally careless and just slapped on a plate. The next table came 15 minutes later but got their main course before our starter. The food came after 40 minutes without asking again and then they said they had lost the receipt. Main course pizza not good, way too much tomato sauce, the cheese just floated on top. Well, if it was buffalo mozzarella then I would check the supplier, he seems to be really screwing the place over. I'll be honest and can't explain these positive reviews, it just wasn't good, none of it. The lasagne came less than 10 minutes after the starter, so we were almost forced to have something cleared away. The long-awaited lasagne was full of oil that it was even too much for me. I never have a problem with it and like to dip bread in it. At its core, however, it was cold and absolutely inedible. Well, at the end we took half of my wife's pizza with us and were briefly scolded by the boss as the only ones who had something to complain about and that we should go in and ask the other guests. The boss then gave me 4.40 too little, but I only noticed it when I got home. Attached is a picture of half the pizza that was simply folded briefly 😊 I don't know where to stop, so that's enough for now. Nobody should really waste their money in this restaurant.

We were there on business. A quick search on Google and we agreed on where we wanted to eat. What can I say? That was the best pizza I've ever eaten. The atmosphere is great. The waitresses were more than nice. I hope we can be here again sometime. So absolute recommendation!

Unfortunately, the wood oven is mostly just there for decoration and is not used, but they still advertise wood-fired pizza (it's also on the menu). There is a normal electric pizza oven in the kitchen, which is mostly used because it is cheaper, but we were still quite satisfied with our visit there, even though we actually chose the restaurant because of the wood-burning oven.

Super nice service, although it's a bit difficult to get the waiter's attention. But the head waitress is really on the ball and very friendly, a true Italian. At €14.50, the Frutti di mare pizza is about the expected price. The normal pasta portions are huge, the freshly made pasta portions are significantly smaller, but the tiramisu portion is more for two people. It was so delicious that we went back the next day.

My pasta was very good. The staff immerses themselves in their roles, creating an Italian atmosphere throughout the restaurant. You feel like you're in Italy and wonder if German is really appropriate in this restaurant. The experience is like a trip to Italy, and if you also have some command of the language, you get a cultural experience in addition to the culinary one.

Ich bin regelmäßig einmal oder auch zwei Mal in der Woche im Monastero zum Mittagessen - und ab und zu auch mal zum Abendessen. Das von Anna geführte ristorante ist mir mittlerweile ans Herz gewachsen. Ich schätze es sehr, dass frisch mit viel Hingabe gekocht wird. Und dazu kommt die famililäre Atmosphäre. Es ist angenehm unkompliziert, wenn ich mal mit einem Sonderwunsch komme oder auch noch kurz, bevor die Küche schließt. Eine Woche ohne "Kurzurlaub in Italien"? - Kaum denkbar!

Il Monastero - this is something like a second home in Passau. I really enjoy eating here! Firstly, it tastes great and all the food is fresh (!!!) and cooked with love. And secondly, I really like the family atmosphere. Even though I sometimes arrived shortly before the kitchen closed, I still got a little something to eat. Even one or two special requests are no problem. That's why I go to the Monastero at least once a week - usually twice - for an Italian short vacation.

Ausgezeichnete Pizzen, auch das Saltimbocca schmeckte sehr gut. Das Personal ist sehr engagiert - leider war im Lokal ein starker Luftzug, da die Tür zum nicht geheiztem Vorhaus fehlt??? Und die Haustür immer wieder aufging und oft nicht gut schloss, sodass die kalte Winterluft bis in die Gaststube zu unseren Füßen kam - Schade!

Ich war vor ca. 2 Jahren regelmäßig in diesem Restaurant und habe mich daher sehr darauf gefreut, als wir dieses Wochenende wieder in Passau waren. Das Essen ist nach wie vor gut, aber der Service dermaßen schlecht, dass der schlechte Eindruck leider überwiegt. Wir haben um 20:20 angerufen und nach einem Tisch um 20:45 gefragt, der uns zugesagt wurde und den wir auch bekommen haben. Um 20:55 mussten wir umgehend bestellen, weil die Küche Feierabend machen will (absolut verständlich, aber die Art und Weise, wie uns das gesagt wurde, war einfach unfreundlich). Um 21:10 wurde das Essen gebracht, 5 Minuten später abkassiert und um 21:20 wurde draußen das Licht ausgeschaltet (wir haben noch gegessen), weil laut Bedienung jetzt das gesamte Personal Feierabend macht. Wir durften zwar sitzen bleiben und aufessen, aber im Dunkeln macht das natürlich wenig Spaß.

Gemütliches und authentisches italienisches Restaurant. Pastagerichte geschmacklich hervorragend und mit frischen Zutaten zubereitet. Preislich etwas höher als der Durchschnittsitaliener, aber das Geld wert. Aufmerksamkeit des Service etwas ausbaufähig. Der Nebentisch hat über 20 Minuten auf die Rechnung gewartet, wir etwa die gleiche Zeit auf die Getränke.

Der erster Eindruck war gut, jedoch war der Bediener sehr unfreundlich. Das Essen war auch nicht lecker und irgendwie unprofessionell zubereitet. Für die Qualität definitiv zu teuer.

Děkuji za nádhernou atmosféru... Na chvíli jsem si připadal jako v příběhu Maria Puza v překrásné Itálii. Personál velice milý. Jídlo naprosto dokonalé. Vřele doporučuji všem, co milují Italskou kuchyni.

Wunderschön eingerichtet, man wird herzlich empfangen und die Preise sind angemessen. Pizza aus dem Steinofen, toll gemacht aber ich habe schon bessere gegessen. Mein Pasta-Gericht war auch ok aber das besondere etwas war nicht vorhanden….. ich habe mich leider nicht so wohl gefühlt.

Von aussen wirkt es wie eine kleine Tattoria und dann geht man hinein in ein tolles urgemütliches italienisches Lokal. Fantastisch gegessen! Ein Ort zum Genießen und Wohlfühlen!!

Nice architecture and amazing food. We had pizza, a salad, and one of the pasta dishes. All of them were delicious and the service was great. They have a large menu with more than just pizza and pasta.
