Great food at a fair price, friendly service, fantastic views: what more could you want?!

We've not only eaten at RheinLust several times, but also celebrated there – and every time it's been wonderful. The location overlooking the Rhine is unique, the hosts are very friendly, and the food is delicious, for example, the oriental appetizer plate (but they also serve authentic Cologne dishes, like currywurst). It's absolutely wonderful, especially when the weather's nice!

What hosts should never do: reprimand a guest in front of their companions at the table. But let's start from the beginning: We were sitting outside with club members. The daughter of the house seemed to be having a good day, so there was virtually nothing wrong with her service. Even though I had to get an ashtray myself from the outdoor bar. The food was okay to good (well, the falafel wrap). The great view justifies the – in comparison – somewhat higher prices. What wasn't okay at all: When the owner and cook brought the first two portions of food to the table, he rudely pointed out my cigarette in the ashtray and said I was doing something illegal, which surprised me. He then reinforced his assumption by pointing out the color... I was now completely perplexed – what color? To explain: To avoid getting yellow fingers from smoking my hand-rolled cigarettes, I cut about 5cm pieces of paper straws to extend my cigarettes, into which I then insert an extra slim filter, following the motto: two filters = healthy smoking (just kidding). Anyway, I looked at my half-smoked, cold cigarette in the anti-yellow finger extension and realized: This piece of paper straw was bright pink with white stars... I took three bites of my wrapper, was no longer hungry, and passed it on to my husband, who had long since finished his small bite of tarte flambée. Since I've often experienced unfriendliness and even rudeness with these new operators (who have been with me for years now), my final conclusion: I don't need them. Not again.

The view is magnificent, the food is delicious, the waiters seem to be still in training, and the terrace is, of course, extraordinary! The interior and the restrooms, on the other hand, are a complete disappointment.

There's a wide selection of dishes here: from classic Pommes Rut-Wiess (a type of potato) to tarte flambée and oriental wraps. This is just a small part of the menu. The shrimp are particularly delicious, although they are a bit more expensive. You can even get steak here. The drinks menu is varied. The view of the Rhine, the tennis courts, and the Poller Wiesen meadows on the other side evokes a holiday feeling. The staff is attentive and friendly.

A wonderful place to enjoy a balmy summer evening with a view of the Cologne skyline and sunset, with good food, friendly service, and fresh drinks. A down-to-earth menu. Highly recommended.

It would actually be quite nice there, but the passive-aggressive atmosphere emanating from the "boss" and her intolerable behavior toward guests and employees leads to a constant feeling of unease. Therefore, you should think twice about letting it spoil your mood.

Today, the two of us wanted to have coffee inside. The interior was half full. We sat at the empty table and waited for service. Unfortunately, no one came, even though they saw us coming in. 15 minutes later, we got up and left the place. Diagonally across the hall sat an older couple, who I also found annoying about the service. So, there was no service. Unfortunately, this review is the same as the one from two years ago. Nothing has changed. Absolutely not recommended if you don't want to get annoyed. Addendum on June 17th: We went there again today with a large group for food and drinks. The mother, who apparently runs Rheinlust: a disaster! Bitchy, unfriendly! It's an impossible situation with her. Her daughter, who serves and takes the money: the same! Unfriendly, unpleasant, cheeky. These are people who DO NOT belong in the restaurant industry! What does that matter? Isn't this guy exaggerating? It does EVERYTHING! It destroys any atmosphere you desire as a customer when you want to spend a pleasant evening! The etiquette of this Google review tool doesn't allow my vocabulary to describe and report what else I could possibly want to say. Insider: This constant whining about the VKC Club seats being reserved forever and not being used: tell your hairdresser! No customer cares! I recommend, from several perspectives and multiple experiences: Spend your precious time, your hard-earned money, where you, as a customer, receive a bit of appreciation and kindness. You'll only leave here annoyed and irritated. I don't want to digress unnecessarily, but the word "catastrophic" fits well, even though it's a bit of an understatement. Conclusion: Don't go there!

The most beautiful terrace in Cologne!

A taste of vacation in Cologne. Friendly, attentive service, though you have to get your own drinks. Beautiful view of the Rhine and the cathedral. Sand has the appropriate equipment. I'll be back. Highly recommended if you want to enjoy a short vacation in the heart of Cologne.

The tarte flambée is simply unbeatable – wafer-thin, crispy base and a real highlight in terms of taste. Plus a fantastic location directly on the Rhine with a wonderful view. The warm service and the friendly owner make the visit perfect. We're always happy to come back - enjoyment and a feel-good atmosphere guaranteed!

Were there yesterday to commemorate a dear person who has left us. Everything was very well organized even though we were only told 3 days in advance. Thank you very much for the effort and the delicious food. Top restaurant.

Beautiful terrace with a nice view

Nice view on the terrace, delicious Kölsch, the salad with chicken and mushrooms had a very tasty sauce, chicken with fries was good, only the sauce was indefinable. The setup is simple, befitting Biergaten. Overall there is room for improvement.

Highly recommended! We held a party here at the beginning of October, a closed party, which was easily possible with advance notice (some tables are always reserved for the tennis players). The view over the bollard meadows and the south bridge is wonderful. Thanks to the good weather we were able to sit outside. Very tasty food (champagne reception, finger food, tarte flambée and grill buffet), attentive and friendly service, warm family atmosphere. Dear Khalil family, we felt very comfortable with you. We celebrated my 50th birthday here. From the planning and discussion in advance to the celebration itself, everything was excellent! Very friendly innkeepers, Very tasty grilled with a nice selection of side dishes. The room was very tastefully decorated. Thanks so much!!!

Nice views of the river. Dynamic and relaxed attention. There were several pets and children. Ideal for the whole family from grandparents to grandchildren and pets. Parks easily.

I had planned my big birthday here with 60 guests, although some friends from Cologne said during the planning "Try the food first, unfortunately it's not really good". After all the details had been discussed with Rheinlust, I received a rejection (!) THREE weeks before my celebration with the explanation: "We are very sorry, we forgot another reservation and unfortunately did not make an entry in our book." . No joke. Incredibly unprofessional. OK - it's not a real event location, and in the end I was actually happy: I found a great other location in the middle of Cologne, and it was great in every respect - professional, uncomplicated and reliable, and the prices were also very fair . And the food was really excellent. Overall, I even paid LESS than at Rheinlust (the prices are excessive in my opinion)

Unexpectedly unfriendly treatment Today at 8:35 p.m. I visited this restaurant on the Rhine promenade with my partner after a long bike ride. Since there were no other establishments nearby and I desperately needed a toilet, I politely asked if I could use it. Unfortunately you couldn't see much from the outside, so I actually wanted to use the toilet for a moment, take a look at the location and, if we liked it, end the evening there with a cold beer and maybe a little something to eat. However, the employee, who was holding several mugs of beer in her hands, informed me in a cutting and, in my opinion, very condescending tone that the restaurant was closed. To be honest, this reaction was quite disturbing and unpleasant for me, as there were still many guests sitting on the terrace and the restaurant was supposed to be open until 10 p.m. according to the opening times. Frankly, I have never felt so out of place and unwanted. I understand that there is no obligation to allow people to use the toilet. But given the remote location and the ongoing hospitality, I would have liked a little more understanding. Especially since we also had the intention of ordering something. However, this rejection was so disappointing that we decided to end our evening elsewhere. It is unfortunate that our experience was overshadowed by the rudeness of the staff. Although the building looks a bit run down from the outside, the terrace offers a very nice view of the Rhine. Unfortunately the overall experience was disappointing and I cannot recommend the restaurant under the circumstances.

Everything was great, it's a pity that the toilet was so small.

The ambience is great. We wanted to have a coffee, but were asked in a rough tone without a greeting: "Have you made a reservation?" We didn't have a reservation and explained that we just wanted a drink. The lady then said that we had to sit inside. No problem, we sat down. When she took our order and I said, "I'd like a cappuccino with oat milk," she replied again in an aggressive tone, "Now you want to know!" She prepared the coffee and called a colleague to smell it. The colleague grimaced and the coffee was thrown away and made again. The oat milk was probably bad? Well, it was thrown away. In general, the lady's tone towards the employees and customers was very harsh, which was extremely unpleasant. When a gentleman came and wanted to hand over a pair of glasses that had been forgotten at the restaurant, the lady said “it's not my problem - don't take it”. We always enjoyed coming here to eat, but not anymore! Everyone can have a bad day, but you can't treat customers and employees like that if you don't want to lose them.

The terrace is fantastic, unfortunately the boss (?) is not. She seems to have a tendency to be rude and we observed that the very young staff were treated rudely. Too bad for the missed opportunity

I ordered chicken with yellow vegetables and lemongrass... what can I say; the chicken was very dry and hard, no yellow vegetables... but completely overcooked vegetables (carrots, mushrooms and zuchini. I gave the food back, I couldn't and didn't want to eat it. They apologized to me profusely. Me I bought another coffee... because I didn't want any more food! My companion had a goulash soup... he liked it. The view of the Rhine made us stay and we had something to drink.

Unfortunately I have to give a bad review. We ordered 2x cappuccino and a large bottle of water. And in the end we paid €15, we paid €7 for the water alone, in my opinion these are exorbitant prices! Especially since the water from the tap was still there. Unfortunately it's just rude and not fair to customers!

We went there today as a stopover on our bike tour. Very nice restaurant on the Rhine. Great view from the terrace. 👌🏻 Food was delicious and plentiful 😋 Price performance is right and the service is very attentive 👍🏻 There was even a good live band there today. We would love to come back 😎

Private party on the terrace. Fine catering, great service, great view of the Rhine. However, the scene of speeders and posers during the night departure seemed a bit intimidating, even if the RheinLust operators cannot be blamed for this!

You thank the employees, but get no response

My nephew celebrated his wedding there last week. A small champagne reception on the beautiful terrace, small appetizers were served, simply wonderful. Unfortunately it rained afterwards and there were around 30 people in the restaurant. But it shouldn't have been more than that. The room was lovingly decorated by the landlady and agreed upon with the bride. The barbecue was then served here, the grilled food was on point. The salads are delicious. All the staff were extremely friendly, even loving. We felt completely comfortable. Highly recommended for a small, fine wedding. Thanks for that.

Wir haben hier einen runden Geburtstag bei herrlichem Wetter und mit wunderschönem Sonnenuntergang gefeiert. Alles (Essen, Dekoration, Service) war perfekt. Wir können Familie Khalil und ihr Team uneingeschränkt empfehlen. Wir werden hier auf jeden Fall erneut feiern.

Leider fast keine veganen Gerichte oder vegane Änderungsmöglichkeiten :/ (z.B. vegane Sauce für den (an sich ja eigentlich veganen) Falafelwrap etc.) Nichtmal unter den Salaten gibt es vegan... Die Aussicht ist schön, für ein Getränk ganz nett :)

Wir haben unsere Hochzeit in der Rheinlust gefeiert und hatten einen wunderbaren Abend. Alles war unkompliziert und das Grillbuffet und die Vorspeisen war super lecker. Wir waren sehr zufrieden und glücklich, dass alles so gut gelaufen ist.

Wie haben gestern die Hochzeit unseres Sohnes und unserer Schwiegertochter dort gefeiert. Es ist ein sehr schönes kleines Lokal mit einer tollen Außenterrasse .Die Aussicht auf den Rhein ist auch sehr schön. Unser Grillbuffet war klasse. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Etwas schwierig sind leider die Toiletten, da diese sich im Obergeschoss befinden und auch sehr eng sind. Uns hat es doch sehr gut gefallen.

Das Personal war äußerst aufmerksam und freundlich, was unseren Aufenthalt wirklich angenehm machte. Das Essen war köstlich und übertraf unsere Erwartungen. Die vielfältige Speisekarte bot für jeden Geschmack etwas. Die Location war malerisch und trug zur entspannten Atmosphäre bei. Insgesamt eine großartige Erfahrung, die wir gerne wiederholen würden!

Man sitzt zwar mit schönem Blick auf den Rhein, aber das war's dann auch schon. Hunde ohne Ende, muss man mögen... Wenn der Service nach Umsatz bezahlt werden würde, wären die ganz sicher auf Zack

Es ist immer wieder ein sehr schönes 'KölnFeeling' auf der wunderbaren Terasse!! Lecker und eine feine Auswahl an Getränken!! Ein Einkehrschwung ist sehr zu empfehlen.

Die Aussicht, ist mega. Essen war okay. Nur der Service war etwas langsam. Die Getränke kamen schnell, doch auf das Essen hatten wir 40 Minuten gewartet. Alles andere war Top.

Super schöne Location und hat Potenzial für eine Top Adresse in Köln, ABER wir haben in einem fast leeren Lokal mehr als 1 1/2 Stunden auf das Essen gewartet. Insgesamt noch länger, da in der ersten viertel Stunde nach unserer Ankunft auch keine Speisekarte gebracht wurde. Auf eine höfliche Nachfrage nach über einer Stunde, dass wir noch auf unser Essen warten, wurde etwas genervt geantwortet, es gab keinerlei Entschuldigung o.ä. Ein super Ort aber der Service ist eine Katastrophe.

Eine Goldgrube die mit Null Motivation geführt wird. Service war unterirdisch. Konnten geradeso etwas zu trinken bestellen und durften die Karten lesen. Danach war niemand mehr am Tisch und zum zahlen musste man die Kellnerin drinnen suchen gehen. Schade um diese location

Wir haben hier einen sehr schönen Abend verbracht. Das Essen war gut, der Ausblick ist traumhaft. Hier bleibt Mensch gerne um den Sonnenuntergang zu genießen. Der Service ist gut und hat Humor. Parkplätze gibt es en masse.

Wir haben die Lokation für unsere Silberhochzeit gebucht. Unsere Gäste waren begeistert, die Terrasse mit Ausblick auf den Rhein und Köln, der sehr gute Service, das tolle Essen sorgten für einen unvergesslichen Abend. Sehr empfehlenswert.

Schöne Aussicht auf dem Rhein. Schneider Weisse ist natürlich einer der besten Weißbier Marken. Vermisse Bratwurst auf der Karte und Pommes. Terrasse 2013 sehr schön begrünt mit Blumen und Pflanzen.

Direkt am Rhein bekommst du hier ein sehr gutes Essen,aufmerksamer, freundlicher Service.

Wir hatten einen wunderbaren Nachmittag in diesem Restaurant. Wir saßen auf der Terrasse mit Blick auf den Rhein und hatten ein leckeres verspätetes Mittagessen. Auch Vegetarier kommen hier auf ihre Kosten . Wir wurden sehr nett und zuvorkommend bedient. Ein Besuch lohnt sich !

Mittlerweile ist es so unsere Lieblingstation auf dem Weg von Köln oder nach Köln geworden. Es gibt immer andere Gerichte, aber der Flammkuchen ist Top. Das Ambiente mit Blick auf den Rhein/Kranhäusern und Dom ist schon einzigartig. Das hier im Service absolute Profis arbeiten muss oder doch sollte man erwähnen, denn diese runden eben den Besuch ab. Spontan-Besuch mit zehn Personen. Das leckere Essen wurde von freundlichem, motivierten Personal zeitnah und gleichzeitig serviert. Auch auf Getränkenachschub wurde unaufdringlich geachtet. Die Preise waren angemessen.

Dieses Restaurant kann ich nur empfehlen. Wir waren mit Freunden hier verabredet, haben reserviert. Super leckeres Essen, alles Eigenproduktion, Lob an den Koch, an den Wirt, an die Bedienung. Tolle Location mit Terrasse direkt am Rhein. Wir beide hatten bei tollem Sonnenschein eine leckere Apfelschorle. Die Toiletten sind sehr sauber.

Ich habe vergessen das essen zu fotografieren. Ich hatte diesen lillet peach , der war unglaublich lecker . Hätte mich über ein größeres Glas gefreut. Das Essen ist unglaublich lecker , das Salat Dressing mega . Bis jetzt wurden wir nie enttäuscht und den wünschen kahm man nach ( zwar nicht allen aber allen die machbar waren ) Personal sehr freundlich und aufmerksam. Ambiente super schön , direkt am Rhein . Dank der Sonnenschirme war es angenehm .

Ein Ort zum Verweilen. Direkt am Rhein mit tollem Blick über die Poller Wiesen und Südbrücke. Ein kühles Kölsch trinken und mit den Liebsten, einen leckeren Flammkuchen genießen. Kinderfreundlich und Hunde sind auch willkommen. Sehr freundliche und aufmerksame Bedienung. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt und kommen wieder. Top!

Wir möchten uns herzlich bei Heike, Ahmed und dem Team für einen traumhaften Abend bedanken. Meine Familie und ich haben an einem sehr schönen Sommerabend einen doppelten Geburtstag als „geschlossene Gesellschaft“ gefeiert. Es stimmte alles: - ein leckeres und abwechslungsreiches Buffet - die hervorragende und aufmerksame Bedienung ( nochmals herzlichen Dank an Lisa) - die Tischdeko und die romantische Illuminierung - und natürlich die sichtlich zufriedenen Gäste. Dieses RheinLust-Team ist in der dritten Saison am Start und wir haben den Ablauf des Abends gemeinsam geplant und vorbereitet…und es wurde super :)

Ganz besonders netter Ort. Sehr freundliche Bedienung. Heute war Grilltag - der Halloumi hat super geschmeckt. Ein wunderbarer Ort für einen Sommerabend mit Blick über die Stadt, nicht überfüllt und herrlich ruhig gelegen.
